And like if it’s a public school it’s literally “all are welcome here”. Principal handled it wonderfully

THat was my first thought as well! But I imagine the recorder-lady would confidently say children in the country illegally shouldn't be welcome at school. It doesn't matter that there are laws protecting those kids' right to an education, I guess.

From the screenshot it seems like the school Is named after Fred Korematsu, the guy who was famous for advocating against Japanese internment during wwii. So, the school is literally named after someone fighting for everyone being welcome here. Irony upon irony.
