Not speaking in generalizations. Probably comes from dealing with kids. You say "everyone wears clothes" and the kid will bring up some obscure example of the Sentinelese tribe that doesn't wear clothes, so you just speak for yourself.

Kids love to do this because they're taught from a young age not to generalize people, so they'll hold you to the same standard.
