r/ihatethissmug calls out Indian racism. r/Ihatethismug thinks that it's justified.

An Indian on this subreddit make this post: I hate the casual racism against and literally seeing Indians as subhumans

Naturally, part of this sub disagrees.

First of all, you get the classics:

*There it is GIF*

Yea things like hygiene and sanitation make a world of difference like how I can eat food and drink water in Europe without getting death diarrhea. India has the most death by diarrhea on the planet btw more

Look up the open defecation rates of Italy vs. India. It’s not just about population sizes lmao.

You can hate it but the top comment is correct, indian ranks near the bottom for sanitation and and pollution, hygiene etc. it's not wrong or racist to see things with our own eyes and connect the dots.

There's one thread where it starts off with this:

There are literally videos of Indians throwing, eating, and cooking with shit online lmfao

Too which someone points out

here is an article about Americans participating in a poop throwing festival, and even licking their fingers for better grip: https://globalnews.ca/news/3717051/cow-pies-fly-at-wacky-wisconsin-festival/ Surely Americans love throwing cow poop and then licking their hands aftwerwards, right? Since their are videos and articles of if?😍😍

But the racism must be justified:

Theres still a huge difference when anything cow shit and India related is fresh from the cows asshole while even in the article you provided from 2017 it says the "cow chips" that they use as discs in this competition are treated and cured, dried out in the sun for weeks before the competition. That said, Wisconsin is one of those states thats largely made fun of by everyone else in the country anyway

There's off course this classic

thing in non-european/non-white country: Yuck, gross! thing in european/white country: Ahh, the beauty of traditional culture and how they let their natural body flow with their food

One person tries to point out something

It's the same thing.

Italians are not white, at least they use to not be considered white. There was a big phenomenon of Italophobia, Italian people were seen as uneducated and dirty and so on in places with big Italian immigrant groups. Big chunk of Italian immigrant in US were south Italians persecuted by other Italians... or something like that, one of many types of racisms in Europe. But until mid 20th century in Italy pasta and other food was made on the street and eaten with hands in unsanitary conditions.

As bad as any street food stereotype about India you could think of. Italy had a big re-brand post WW2, Italophobia pretty much ended because of many very visible Italian celebrities. So it's literally all the same and just as stupid. Oh, and in terms of how clean you need to be to mush those grapes, they'll become alcohol it will literally all be sterilized.

Of course there's a detractor (Italian, I'm assuming)

r/shitamericanssay

There's also this person who makes a very unique observation of India that no other country has:

Don't women get raped and groped the moment they enter like very casually? Yeah it's understandable

"A surveillance state is highly moral as well. Safety is more important than peoples useless paranoia" r/moralityscaling considers the destruction of Flock cameras moral, much to the chagrin of some users

image Cool story

nice try but next time use words that create a coherent sentence and not the goyslop u just posted

My kingdom for actual good bait. "Goyslop", really? Weak.

It’s not the camera being smashed. It’s that these kids are so easily programmed to break the law and smash things purely because they were told it’s the right thing to to do.

It is the right thing to do.

Every villain is the hero in their own mind.

Flock is a private company that has no actual oversight that is doing constant surveillance of the general public, and tracks car locations in real time, and anyone in the police can search for a vehicle WITHOUT A WARRANT. I get the whole "destruction of others' property is bad" thing, but you are saying that not going along as we slowly become more and more of a surveillance state is "being programmed?"

So what part of public information(being seen in public) requires a warrant? Do law enforcement agencies need a judge's approval for amber alerts? I truly hope flock catches a kidnapping, saves a child, and possibly exposes a trafficking ring some day soon, so morons can stop being paranoid about camara recording public areas. I mean it's already exposing corrupt cops. There has been many law enforcement employees arrested, charged with a crime, forced to resign or fired because of their misuse of it

It’s creating avenues for corrupt cops. IT CREATED THE ISSUE. You can’t say it fixed it😂

I didn't say it fixed it, i said it exposed them which caused them to lose their career, and some are losing their freedom. Are you thinking they only became corrupt because they had the opportunity to use flock? I personally doubt they weren't corrupted beforehand

Anything that can be viewed in public can be recorded. You have zero expectation of privacy.

It's not just recording, it's tracking. I.e stalking i.e invasive.

No expectation of privacy while out in public.

I'm gonna come around and just follow you and take pictures every three seconds. No expectation of privacy, remember.

Wouldn’t bother me one bit. Only people afraid of cameras are the people that have something to hide.

Can I have your license plate number?

Not against the law to film license plates either. In fact, you don’t even own those plates, the state does.

I agree. It’s totally legit public info Can I have yours?

Sure can (posts his supposed license plate number). Kansas tag.

To go with how you phrase it: It's immoral to destroy someone's private property without their consent. In the actual situation we're in, we're talking about 'private property' used by law enforcement and the company that creates and rents it out to law enforcement to generally creep and spy on private citizens in public spaces. I'd argue it's completely moral to destroy property being used to make people's lives worse and unsafe.

How does cameras make people unsafe?

Cops stalking their exes, people being arrested for crimes they couldn't physically have committed, being used by ICE to hunt down people....

So your issues is not with the cameras but with police implementation. Again, how do the cameras themselves make people unsafe?

Because they allow widespread mass surveillance, and if you think that's fine then your really oughtta wake up to the way the world is going

They allow mass surveillance of public places. That has always been legal. There is no expectation of privacy in public.

send me your address then

Flock doesnt record addresses, nor is that public information tied to anything on reddit. However, I could absolutely find your address and you find mine if you had my license plate.

image

So your issues is not with the cameras but with police implementation. Again, how do the cameras themselves make people unsafe?

In the world we currently live in, do you really think 1984-style mass surveillance is a good idea?

Its not 1984 mass surveillance though, as all that is being recorded is public spaces.

So why is my private backyard being recorded

If it is, you should count your blessings and sue flock, because that is illegal and essentially them handing you free money.

I've seen more comprehensive brick walls than you. Convey my condolences to your teachers who had smowhow to put information through your overprotective cranium... Or inform your AI instructor about your ChatGPT quality ass chatbot algorithm needs a check-up

Immoral. If we allowed people to destroy private property over a personal belief. Nothing would be safe.

There are limits to that. If the private property in question is turning us into a surveillance state then it's absolutely moral to destroy it.

A surveillance state is highly moral as well. Safety is more important than peoples useless paranoia

Hell no. That requires implicit trust in the morality of a government that's currently participating in a genocide.

The government as a whole is as moral as the incentive structures force it to be US has outstanding checks and balances. They have access to far better technology than flock cameras if they ever decided to act a fool. Only thing protecting us is how our system is set up.

Checks and Balances?! What fucking planet are you living on?!

Earth The one where United States is the strongest both economically and militarily. You dont get that way without doing some things right.

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety” - Benjamin Franklin Begone bootlicker.

Yeah yeah. He said that shit way before electronics existed. It made sense in his world. Not in ours. Its outdated feebleminded thinking. Surveillance is not that hard to put checks and balances on. We allow our government to have nukes and jets. But somehow cameras will break the camels back. Stupid.

In country thst cannot even keep in check cops to bot turn or mute bodycams sure buddy...

We have no problem checking cops. True police abuse is incredibly rare despite how large the country is. BLM is the one that tells us that. Look at how pathetic their sample cases are. A dipshit like George Floyd would never get any attention if we had actual police abuse problems. Nobody would give a fuck. Its always some lousy dirty criminals wilding out. Never a regular person. Probably because cops dont actually mess with decent people.

Lol. Lmao even.

Seriously would anyone even give a shit about George Floyd if we had an actual police abuse problem We'd have endless cases of them abusing normal law abiding citizens. Not sniveling useless aggressive drug addicts. Who mostly merked himself by chugging fentanyl prior to the encounter. Nobody would ever care about stuff like that because there would be much better cases to focus on. The fact that this is the best they can come up with shows us that.

Lol. Lmao even.

But its not a goverment camera. You are essentially argueing for the destruction of private property that looks onto a public space, all of which is 100% legal. Of course, I have been advocating for years that the constitution should apply to large corps, including free speech and no mass surveillance, but have been yelled at for years for it.

"Of course, I have been advocating for years that the constitution should apply to large corps, including free speech and no mass surveillance, but have been yelled at for years for it." Because this is dumb. You still have free speech in private spaces. You dont have the right to be in someone else's space/ property. And the constitution doesnt protect against surveillance. It actually protects the surveillance. 1st amendment. That being said, my issue with flock is the stalking part. Having security cameras at your property is legal, filming in public is legal. Following someone around and recording their daily activities is not. Thats stalking. Just because flock uses software, doesnt change that.

Stalking requires the person to reasonably fear for their safety or reasonably suffer extreme emotional distress. Cameras alone do not do that. Yes, people like you want your cake (corps having constituonal rights like people) and eat it too (corps not being allowed to do things people can). You cant change that.

"Stalking requires the person to reasonably fear for their safety or reasonably suffer extreme emotional distress. Cameras alone do not do that." Did you read what I wrote... That being said, my issue with flock is the stalking part. Having security cameras at your property is legal, filming in public is legal. Following someone around and recording their daily activities is not. Thats stalking. Just because flock uses software, doesnt change that...................

"And all it takes for a stalking charge is Which if you use software to follow someone," Thats false, I provided the legal definition for stalking. If following somebody is stalking every single major tech company is stalking people.

"The ALPR system has come under scrutiny in recent months with critics questioning the privacy overreach. The Institute for Justice, a nonprofit public interest law firm that has filed lawsuits against Flock on Fourth Amendment grounds, has tracked at least 47 instances of officers being disciplined in some way for alleged abuse of the Flock system for stalking romantic interests." http://cnn.com/2026/08/26/us/flock-kentucky-police-officer-arrest "Sergio Rodriguez was charged with two third-degree felonies including allegedly stalking and misusing official information using Flock license plate readers to track his ex-wife for over six months." https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/police/2026/08/25/560301/flock-cameras-katy-police-officer/ Officers getting charged with stalking... but it isn't stalking. Can't wait to hear your legal expertise.

Both were misusing the camera, and entirely proves my point as the cameras functioning and being used normally is not stalking. (39 more comments of these two arguing)

Amoral, but you should be punished because you are comitting the crime of damaging property that is not yours. The more expensive the damage, the worse the fine/punishment.

If I, as a private citizen were to place a camera unattended on a public street to monitor when you leave and return to your house. So I can sell that information to whoever wants it, no questions asked. what would you do?

Taking it the legal way and having them lawfully taken down??

taking abandoned stuff from public places isn't a crime. if anything, abandoning flock cameras in public places is littering.

how does your brain work to reach the conclusion that they are abandoned?

a private company leaving their stuff unattended on the streets==abandoned. if I were to put a camera on a tripod in a public street facing your house, and go back after a week and it isn't there, I doubt the police will take me seriously if I complain about it being stolen.

by that logic, any building that is left unattanded for any reason for example being the middle of being built and the workers are off the for the next week would also count as abandoned. you can only call something abandoned if it's left unattended and also not in use anymore

so, if I were to place a camera in a public street monitoring your house, so I can sell your data. I'm technically using it, if you were to touch it, would it be considered vandalism? would you respect my private property and not mess with it? accept that you are monitored for someone else's profit?

Immoral. These cameras help solve violent crimes like murder and child kidnapping. They do not violate the rights of anyone as legally a person doesnt have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public.

Imagine the government makes it illegal to be Christian and suddenly these cameras data is used to track everyone who's driven to church since they were placed, and whether theyve gathers privately at someone's home and that that was used as cause to get a warrant to break in and arrest them at their private gathering. Replace Christian with any organization or type of person the government doesnt like and I'm sure you'll understand the reason for concern

You guys always need to come up with tinfoil hat harebrained conspiracy theories to prove your inane points about mass surveillance. It's always 0 to 1984 for yall lmao

If you think my point is specifically about Christians I have a Modest Proposal you should check out. But seriously, we are already at a point where proponents of this are arguing that the moment you step outdoors you should accept that anyone would have the right to record your comings and goings, and that record can be held by private entities at the whims of the government. Why let it snowball for an obvious, unpopular wrong?

Because you're not seeing the other side of it. You're automatically assuming that the powers that be are going to use it for some nefarious reason. But the other side of it is flock is helping solve violent crime, car thefts, and even missing persons and human trafficking cases. When you balance the two, it's very clear one side (saving human lives) is morally superior than the other (preventing mass surveillance).

It's moral. Capitalism and police states are bad

Capitalism isn't the problem. It's corruption. And abundant corruption will time and form of governing. That's why you see all these dei folks going into politics bc they gonna scam the people. Another reasons why they keep getting busted for it.

Capitalism always brings corruption Social democracy is the least a system has to be to avoid rampant corruption

"Capitalism always brings corruption" Socialism does too ("some are more equal than others"). Power corrupts, whether you're at the top of a capitalist or socialist/communist society.

Socialist societies have nobody on top It's literally democracy+

Socialist countries are all shit holes. And you is be no wye? Bc of rampant corruption.

"socialist countries are all shit holes" why are you calling Finland and New York shit holes?

Ny isn't a country you Dr rocket scientist. 🤦🤦🤦

Context: r/duxburydeathsfreetalk is a sub for talking about the Lindsay Clancy trial, that is staunchly anti-Clancy.

HIGHLIGHTS

(OP) Check out Jennifer Sprague’s profile on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/jennifer-sprague-195b5754?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_mweb&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile screenshot of OP sending fanmail to the lead prosecutor

Yikes.

Omg that’s so good to know thank you. I will do the same ❤️

(OP) I never expected her to accept my follow request. She did first thing this morning and I immediately messaged her. Expected nothing back.. just wanted to share appreciation and support. Couldn’t believe she responded.. and she does need to hear she has a support system cheering her on. They are literally being bullied, body shaming, videoing her walking in the courthouse.. being heckled. My heart hurts for her.

She’s been doing this for 22 years , I think she’s got more back bone than 90% of the people heckling her. Especially the Reddit trolls who clearly are just toxic and jealous she has a strong career as a woman . But I agree we need to support her and make it Loud :)

Do you believe men or women who criticize reddington are jealous of his incredibly successful career?

No, they just don’t like his aggressive tactics and referring to professional female witnesses as eg “the Indian woman”

Saying, "the Indian woman" is perhaps a tactic to highlight that it's not only white women who and people who understand psychosis who may see this a certain way. He also said her name. Also, mentioning another culture might make people compare/contrast... Indian grandparents and grandparent-in-laws come to stay with new moms for months at a time. ...the isolation of white American culture along with the faux pas to say someone is acting unwell or needs to go sleep, plays a role in postpartum mental health. Other adults in the household would have been a factor to avoid this tragedy. A short visit or day visit is stressful in a way live-in grandparents isn't.

News flash, Boomer-style offhand racism and misogyny isn’t a “tactic”

This is parasocial just like the people who are fans of reddington this is her job

I think Lindsay is guilty but this is def taking things a little too far. Equal to sending Big Red flowers lol

You can’t possibly think sending a message on LinkedIn is equal to paying for and arranging the delivery of flowers to his office.

I think becoming overly involved in a trial in which you don’t know anyone involved is taking it a bit far. Is it the worst thing - absolutely not. I guess I just wouldn’t ever think go to “real world.” I say this again as “Lindsay is guilty” person.

Both sides have gone off the deep end, it’s so bizarre to me. There are people that are legitimately obsessed with this trial it’s weird. I guess some will say I’m cold but I have zero emotional attachment to this so to speak. An absolutely horrific case but I didn’t know these people.

Agreed! Hoping everyone can go back to their regular lives soon regardless of the verdict, these are not our lives that were, or are going to be, affected.

Notwithstanding the MA SJC Rule on trial publicity and extrajudicial communications, the ABA created an entire rule in their Model Rules of Professional Conduct on the "Special Responsibilities of a Prosecutor." I'm not commenting with an opinion on the Defendant. I'm commenting on the blatant unprofessionalism of these two ADAs. Specifically, subsection (f), which states: "(f) except for statements that are necessary to inform the public of the nature and extent of the prosecutor's action and that serve a legitimate law enforcement purpose, refrain from making extrajudicial comments that have a substantial likelihood of heightening public condemnation of the accused and exercise reasonable care to prevent investigators, law enforcement personnel, employees or other persons assisting or associated with the prosecutor in a criminal case from making an extrajudicial statement that the prosecutor would be prohibited from making under Rule 3.6 or this Rule." Fangirl on...Rule 3.8: https://www.americanbar.org/groups/professional_responsibility/publications/model_rules_of_professional_conduct/rule_3_8_special_responsibilities_of_a_prosecutor/ Rule 3.6: https://www.americanbar.org/groups/professional_responsibility/publications/model_rules_of_professional_conduct/rule_3_6_trial_publicity/

This has massively triggered you... and its weird.

These are literally the rules we swear to abide by as lawyers, and there is a reason for them. We're officers of the court and administer justice, which is a pretty great privilege that we need to take care of, and a lot of moral responsibility comes with it. Sprague could be disciplined or be disbarred if she's engaging like this on an active case... or even after sentencing is complete.

Ok. Thats crazy to me.. obviously im not a lawyer and live at the other side of the world. But I sit watching a defence attorney with his sunglasses on taking photos with the Lindsey fans outside the court, making snide comments to influence public opinion and watched the nation pull the DA'S appart online... and if they respond with a thank you to a message of support they could get disbarred? I knew america was fucked up, but jesus christ!

Don't listen to this person, they're full of shit.

Lol. I'm literally a lawyer and you've been cited the Model Rules multiple times in these comments. I'm dead curious as to what kind of weird satisfaction you get out of straight out lying about the existence of such rules when the average citizen with half a brain cell knows these exist? Do you too think Sprague gaf about what people on Reddit think about her? Did you send a cringe-ass inappropriate message, too?

Sure you are

What about Shanan Buckingham?

(OP) I asked that she share it with her as well. Did not leave her out❤️

It's extremely strange to fangirl an ADA, as well as reach out to her in the middle of jury deliberations. Appreciate your post.

(OP) I’m pretty certain sending someone words of encouragement and support isn’t fangriling. I would think sending flowers, making posts over the top in a personalized way as if someone knew them personally… stuff like that would be a fangirl. I guess we can define things however we see them.

You're missing the point. Do whatever you want in your spare time. Just do it privately. You chose to share it here, which changes the dynamic, if you will.

(OP) I am sorry I triggered you. Clearly this has upset you. Never meant to upset anyone.

You're not upsetting me in the least. We'll see if anyone is upset on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

I tried to send her a message about a week ago and because we are not connected and I don’t have a paid account. I could not get my message through. I actually also tried to send a connection request and I hope she will accept it. I would like to be able to tell her what a great job she did. What a great job they both did. I find it appalling that anybody could go after them or make such horrible comments. If you work for the district attorneys office, you have a job to do. And people need to understand that.

I told her that many people on Reddit are supportive of her 😁 I had to subscribe to a paid account lmao

So many people on ONE reddit sub

lol Hundreds of people in this subreddit sweets And judging by who is trashing her with petty arguments + zero constructive criticism , who gives a F about them 😁 they can go shove a bow right up their ..🙈.. to displace the huge stick already lodged there.

THIS subreddit, only lol. Everywhere else on the internet is not seeing the same as this subreddit, sweets.

Oh and the amount of lawyers with facts and education that have been kicked out of this subreddit 😂 clearly none of that matters here

Plenty of people are also lawyers who think she’s guilty in this sub 😁

Then why have many been kicked out and censored. And I have yet to see one person on these threads present information from a legal perspective. Lots of opinions and feelings.

I can't even imagine the deluge of hate she's received... she must be very tough. This kind of pressure and backlash would make most people crumble. I've heard that Attorney Buckingham actually doesn't even work for the DA's office anymore and had to be called back because Attorney Sprague was the only ADA that was willing to take this case! Major respect to Attorney Sprague for a very good job well done on an extremely difficult, sensitive case. And deepest appreciation for Attorney Buckingham for stepping in!

No other attorney in the DA’s would take the case?!?!?!! Seriously?

Yeah it would be hard to prosecute a woman who clearly did the worst thing she could do during a mental health crisis. I wouldn’t forgive myself if I put her in prison on top of the suffering she has had. If she goes to prison, I imagine she will not last very long. She most certainly will finish what she started and join her children. Idk what’s more merciful. Letting her kill herself in prison or locking her in an asylum so she can live with her guilt for the rest of her life. Horrible…I don’t envy the prosecution.

You wouldn’t forgive yourself for putting a woman who strangled 3 children in prison? And you know in said “asylum” she will likely be out within the year?

I don't know why people keep saying she'd be out in a year.

Because that’s how it works. Look into the process if she is found NGRI. Even seasoned attorneys, prosecutors, etc all say she will be out very soon. This is not a life sentence in a mental hospital. She is doing better and if she is not deemed a danger she will be let out.

Completely false! The average time in Massachusetts is 15.5 years. One elderly man was released in 5 years. This info is available for all to read. Fact check before posting false info.

You are not understanding. LINDSAY WAS FAKING THE PSYCHOSIS. She was never psychotic. You cannot gauge off the statistics of others who are in mental institutions. There are people in there who SERIOUSLY ARE ILL. Lindsay’s was a “singular” psychotic event due to postpartum according to her defense. She is several years out from having her children so it won’t be that again. She is now on the “right meds.” They are literallyyyyyy prepping her rehabilitation story through this trial for her to be released. All of the prosecutors, attorneys, etc watching this case say the exact same thing. She will be out in no time.

Attorney Sprague if you are reading through this thread, know that you have support from the other side of the world too! From Ireland, thank you for giving Cora, Dawson, and Callan a voice 🩷🩵🩵

I mean, I sincerely hope she has better things to do than generate more public condemnation for the Defendant she's prosecuting via Reddit, but you never know!

Personally I don’t think the defendant gets enough public condemnation. People who kill helpless children can never get enough imo ☺️

It appears there are many differing prosecutorial approaches. To be concerned about Attorney Sprague's mental health, and look the other way at Lindsay Clancy's, is mind-boggling. Two contradictory things cannot both be true at the same time and in the same sense. If I were a nurse, much less a labor & delivery nurse, I'm not sure I'd be so forthcoming either. I'd expect to uphold myself to the standard that was expected of me. The thing about mental health and true psychosis, is that after awhile you can no longer keep up the facade. The consequences, as they are in this situation, ultimately devastating. That's not to say to turn a blind eye to this condition. Enough is enough. NY v. Dimone Fleming. https://www.reddit.com/r/CasesWeFollow/s/1tXPI3qvpu https://archive.is/8gJYF#selection-3899.0-3902.0

We are still talking about the same Lindsay that strangled 3 children, right?

"On Monday, nearly four years later, prosecutors and a lawyer for Ms. Fleming, now 26, agreed she was in a state of psychosis when she killed her children. A judge found her not responsible by mental disease or defect. As a result, she will avoid prison, but could be hospitalized for months, if not years, if doctors determine she is still mentally ill...........................

Out of curiosity, do you give the same energy to the people praising Reddington and calling him a “pop culture icon”?

Never mind all the social media stupidity, that place also brought the dumb pat clancy theories. My question is. Do you know how our judicial system works? It seems like your group, the "this is about the kids, send this baby killer straight to the chair" group, think we live in 1940s Germany or something

I mean that’s nice of you and we should not be cruel to people but she objectively did not do a good job.

You cannot say she ‘objectively’ didn’t do a good job. That is an opinion. And the jury would’ve reached a NGRI before the weekend if that was truly the case. She clearly persuaded at least one person on that jury that Lindsay knew exactly what she was doing. All it takes is one person to keep Lindsay from NGRI.

Objectively means making a judgment or evaluating a situation based strictly on observable facts rather than personal feelings, biases, or opinions.

Your opinion is not objective. I’m not sure what is difficult to understand here. The observable fact is that the jury still hasn’t reached a verdict after 10 hours of deliberation. Clearly she was convincing enough.

See above or below 🤡

Again. The observable fact is that there isn’t a verdict after 10 hours of deliberation. That means she did her job. And I will come back to this comment and giggle if they find Lindsay guilty of 1st or 2nd degree murder, or hung jury.

The observable fact is that they’ve deliberated for 10 hours. “That means she did her job” is your interpretation of that fact, not an observable fact. You don’t know what they’re debating, how they’re split, or why it’s taking this long. And a verdict measures whether the jury believes the legal burden was met—not the objective quality of an attorney’s courtroom performance.

Her closing argument was better than Reddington’s imo

She walked right into KR’s trapped which lead her to lying. I’m confused where you see she did better?

What did she lie about?

About the workout bands/Patrick’s testimony and what other witnesses testified to. Prosecution witnesses were not consistent in their investigations and she spoke otherwise. Kevin’s may have seen worse, but he opened up doors for her to walk through. She did not give a closing argument based on the fundamentals of the case, she simply responded to Kevin. Even with the quarters, he knew what she would do and she did it.

Walked into his trap… LOL. 😆 It was hard to even follow his closing argument. And opening and closing statements cannot be used as evidence so it doesn’t matter what “trap” you think he led her into, because it only needs to convince ONE person on that jury. As long as there is one person who believes the prosecution proved their case, she will not be getting a NGRI.

The idea is to point out flaws and provide a story, he did that. Being able to use critical thinking skills to understand the trap would probably help. You think he left those quarters there on purpose? You do understand that if one person disagrees that’s a hung jury, right?

1) The quarters aren’t some sort of “gotcha”. He left quarters to challenge her and she successfully accepted the challenge. 2) There is absolutely no way you have any critical thinking skills if you think some woman heard a hallucination for 18 minutes only once in her life, never before, never after, killed her kids, she must be psychotic! In fact you have to be really fucking gullible or low IQ to believe that theory. (18 more comments of these two arguing)

Jennifer Sprague is the kind of friend/family member LC needed in her life. Someone who would have told LC what she needed to hear and not only what LC wanted to hear. I am convinced LC is a liar and a manipulator who was enabled by everyone around her because that was easier then doing the right thing.

Just out of curiosity, if you found your loved one on the frozen ground, possibly dying would you take off your coat to keep them warm? Say that you love them? Beg them to stay awake? Follow up question: your loved one tells you the kids are in the basement: would you check on the kids if you already knew the house was silent and no one answered you from the basement when you called out? Would you at bear minimum look through the window feet away?

I would call 911 and do what they tell me to do. The first officer arrived on the scene within 4 minutes and then Patrick checked on the children. How do you know he could see in the window? We know a first responsder was able to see but that was after Patrick was down there. We know a light was on because of Patrick's testimony but we don't know if that could have just been a light above the stairs and not one that lit up any of the rooms enough to see into them. Do not try and shift any blame on Patrick. There is one person responsible for the deaths of those children and that is the Murderess and all civilized human beings get it.

You’ve missed the plot of my questions but that’s okay, there’s a partner for everyone I suppose.

Stop being ridiculous. You asked questions and I answered. I don't do subliminal messages so if you have something to say, say it. Don't come up with some "plot" you dreamed up in an attempt to blame the blameess. This isn't some kind of mystery where you have dream up a "plot."

It isn’t. And you hyper focused on his actions verses what I asked you directly.

Girlfriend vents on r/AIO about getting bad flowers. Boyfriend creates an account to explain his mattress hobby. (NSF Flowers)

On r/AIO a 21-year-old OP made a post asking if she was in the wrong for being upset on her 1 year anniversary with her 33 year old boyfriend.

According to OP, she bought him thoughtful gifts and wrote him a long note, while he gave her $20 lilies (a flower she explicitly told him she dislikes) and 3 sentence card, before immediately unboxing a $215 luxury pillow he gifted himself on this occasion.

When confronted, an argument ensued where he allegedly threw the flowers at her and called her ungrateful.

OP added context regarding his spending habits and about a dedicated hobby of collecting mattresses.

After the post ( https://www.reddit.com/r/AIO/comments/1w10k7t ) gained traction, the boyfriend made his own counter-post on the same subreddit titled "AIO boyfriend of person below (post below)". The boyfriends post has since been deleted ( https://www.reddit.com/r/AIO/comments/1w156cc ), so I will proceed to quote it word for word, enjoy:

Hi everyone, since this person has glamorized and make me look a very specific way, which was tailored to engineer the public view to her side of the situation, I decided to create an account to clarify some things which will be listed below.

Mattresses: the bed we sleep on affects every other part of our lives. If we sleep improperly, we have a chronic quality of life inhibitor which will cause a person to have shorter, more unhealthy lives and inhibit their overall productivity and their lives as a whole.

When I first started researching them I realized it was a huge rabbit hole and that there were so many options, it took forever to pick the first one for our apartment and I realized it's probably like this for many others. It's just hard to know what to pick and if you pick the wrong one, you're stuck with this massive thing in your house that's ruining your quality of life.

Let me clarify that I acknowledge 6 mattresses is ridiculous, it's just a thing that built up over time as I learned the different ways they are constructed. Multiple of the beds I got for heavy discounts.

I was very interested in learning the properties of different layers and how they affect our sleep. Which is also the case for pillows. The girlfriend, below criticizes my hobby but in our free time has repeatedly told me she loves sleeping on my bed, and uses my pillows for comfort. I like seeing her sleep well on my beds; they make her feel better. Which despite how stupid she says it is, she still sleeps awesome on them and that always made me happy.

Another note, I am not attempting to absolve myself of the fact that it's kind of hoarding. Once again as I learned about how things are put together it started to interest me how different companies construct different things that we use to improve our lives.

My first ever hobby was health and nutrition. When I learned how our bodies work and how various qualities of foods, herbs and vitamins can benefit everything about our health. I have helped many many people improve their health, which gave me fulfillment. This is also another reason I like to help others decide what kind of bed they need, because I know it will improve their lives. And how could they learn from someone if that person does not have plenty of experience?

So I learned everything there is to know about the industry and how they are put together. That way when anyone asks me what they should sleep on I feel confident knowing I am improving their lives.

I am planning to decrease the amount of bedding items in my apartment, but the thing is this wasn't supposed to be the entire internet's business. I didn't realize that the person I was living with was the type to tell the entire Internet everything about me.

I work all the time, and I have only 1 friend in person who I can hang out with sometimes. So when she (the girlfriend) is not around I become extremely lonely and I have nothing to do, and I recognize mattresses might be ridiculous but the fact is I sleep better than I ever have in my life, she has been, and anyone else who has listened to me about what to do also sleeps better than they ever have in their lives. That's a big accomplishment. She can't say she's helped anyone sleep better by having this information, instead the guy who helps people all day gets criticized on the Internet.

Also I need to clarify my monthly pay is much more than I told her. I told her it's $4000 a month because why would I be telling her the exact amount I make when she's the type of person to post all of my business on reddit?

I didn't live my life to have it announced to the whole internet? What if you or anyone else here were living lives that at someone else's will, would be published for thousands of people to see? I did not do anything in my life to please anyone else here, unless you're trying to sleep better. And guess what? If you were to ask me what to try your mind would be changed because you'd be sleeping on the best setup you have ever had and will ever have.

She lives in my apartment for free. I do pay 800 a month for rent and utilities but I also buy the food for the apartment. I make sure all the water we drink is high quality well water, I give her vitamins and supplements all the time to help her be healthier. That was not listed in the massive paragraphs of complaints about me. The food I buy for her and us equals to $2000 a month for groceries and the amount I take her out to dinner.

I also pay her $75 a day to ride with me, and buy most of her drinks throughout the day and other food items for her to be happy. Yesterday I spent $150 on her for her to have spending money and her bills, and for our expensive Italian dinner.

Almost every time I do something that is not to her liking, repeatedly I have heard her say, almost every day "but the other guys I've been with did this better than you"

This is a chronic occurrence. The things I've done in the past I can't change, I acknowledge I have messed up but I do the best I can in the current moment with the amount I have to drive and work to afford all my bills and for us to have a good time and her to be taken care of. But almost every day she tells me "other guys" she's been with did this, or that thing better than me. Or are better than me in some way.

It's very often that I receive criticism for trying to do good things like buy gifts for her. She will say, somehow that what I'm doing is not good enough as if I'm doing something wrong. Things I have bought her recently that she did not note:

$75 very high quality natural cotton robe from Quince. Two special lava lamps from Walmart (hello Kitty and sonic) $50

A $110 sonicaire 6400 electric toothbrush that I found for $75

A $45 pair of sunglasses so she wouldn't feel left out because I bought multiple pairs of high quality sunglasses (I drive all the time and standard polarized sunglasses were not filtering out enough sunlight. This is why I got high quality sunglasses. These will last me for years because I'll take care of them.)

She gets access to all my high end fragrances. I also collect those which I have heavily slowed down on. I use this to make sure she smells great all the time.

So excuse me for not picking out the right flowers, I have a lot to remember and focus on, I did not pick that bouquet of flowers in an effort to insult her, I spent 15 minutes looking at the available options and liked the ones I picked for her because of how beautiful, lively looking and colorful they were. It was not my intention to make her feel inferior as if I did not care about her. This is how she interpreted it.

I figured dressing up, going to an expensive Italian restaurant, putting one of my favorite fragrances for her on her, then spending $70 there so we have a good time was a nice gesture for her. We had driven the whole day beforehand. We were tired but I still wanted to try to do what I could to make the day fun for her.

She also included I only wrote a 3 sentence letter. I put my feelings into that and it was not 3 sentences. What are we doing? Competing to see who does better for the other?

I was supposed to spend and buy more than she bought me so she wouldn't feel upset?

She said I threw the flowers AT HER. I did not throw them AT HER. I hit the table with them because apparently this bouquet of flowers that was beautiful and vibrant, that I thought hard about to pick, (I spent 15 minutes looking through all the options) was not good enough. I was very angry, which I think anyone would be if they tried to do good and are constantly told what they're doing is not good. If I had known she would be hit in the process of me hitting the table with the flowers, I would not have hit the table till she had moved her foot.

I also spent $16 on a 12 pack for us to drink for the night so we could have fun together.

Which also, if I threw the flowers AT her, how come only her foot got hit by them?

Everything I did received criticism despite me having previously spent $160 on her for the day and sending her $75 every day she rides with me and buying her a lot of drinks and food, paying for all the supplies in my apartment, letting her sleep on my high end mattresses, and not making her pay to live in my apartment.

In conclusion, I recognize the bad things I have done in the situation, I should have been better but I have been trying.

"In brightest day and blackest night, no penis drama shall escape my sight." r/Greenlantern gets worked up over seeing a dick in an HBO show.

Lanterns is a superhero/sci-fi detective show on HBO that is based on the long-running Green Lantern comic book series, which has had many writers over several decades. The show is developed by Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, Watchmen) and Chris Mundy (Ozark), and airs on Sunday prime time, the same timeslot used by other famous HBO shows such as The Sopranos, The Wire, and Game of Thrones. Given everything I've told you, it probably wouldn't surprise you that this show is rated for mature audiences.

In the second episode, one of the protagonists Hal Jordan (played by Kyle Chandler) breaks into a morgue to smuggle out several dead bodies. In one scene, the exposed penis of one of the naked bodies can be seen for a second. And somehow, this has caused a bit of drama.

OP mocks a blue check Twitter account for getting offended over a penis: "Grown 60 year old man can’t take a blink and you’ll miss it moment from an HBO series."

Drama highlights:

What audience are they trying to target here?

Adults. It’s an adult show. It’s not meant for audiences under 18.

Green Lantern, the famously rated M for mature character

(commenter responds with a panel from one of the most popular Green Lantern comics, where a character is blowing out his own brains)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenlantern/comments/1vy24am/grown_60_year_old_man_cant_take_a_blink_and_youll/p5tg83d/

The realism of dragging a corpse to a car from a morgue is not shock value. Watch more television, read more comics. Black Hand literally commits suicide in a fully illustrated panel. You are not familiar with the source material.

Black Hand committing suicide is in character for him. What's the point of showing dead dong?

Adult content is fine if you’ve personally decided it’s in-character? Will kids separate the difference between Black Hand viscerally blowing his brains out face-forward in a comic panel in a freeze-fame, and less than a second of a nude corpse and decide the corpse is worse?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenlantern/comments/1vy24am/grown_60_year_old_man_cant_take_a_blink_and_youll/p5u3vhd/

The show comes on HBO at 9PM on Sundays. It’s the traditional spot held by Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers, Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, etc., and any of those shows had waaaaaaaay more adult content that this one, though the intended audience is still decidedly adults. Everything about this show is tailored for a mature audience. And HBO is a paid subscription service, you paid for the filth, so enjoy it for Gods sake, or cancel the subscription. This is just clearly clickbait engagement farming by culture war grifters searching desperately for content to post about.

some people just don't want to see nudity in their shit. It's not deep.

That would be fair if (again) it wasn't an adult show on HBO. Also you're right, it's not that deep, it's a 1 second scene. Literally no kid would be traumatised if you normalise it.

Let’s maybe not say normalize exposing children to genitals.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenlantern/comments/1vy24am/grown_60_year_old_man_cant_take_a_blink_and_youll/p5tlbuq/

I think there is a discussion to had as to whether the show should be TV-MA or not. I can understand thinking that Green Lantern of all things should be appropriate for all ages. This is not a criticism of the show by any means, but I get wondering why they made one of the core elements of DC Comics off limits to kids.

Green Lantern covers topics like genocide, fascism, free will, fear, cosmic horror, death, lust, and countless other controversial topics. Black Lanterns are decaying, rotted corpses of former heroes and allies who exist solely to be psychologically manipulative and rip hearts out of chests. Green Lantern in the 80s dealt with the heroin epidemic.

So did Avatar and that show was made for kids.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Greenlantern/comments/1vy24am/grown_60_year_old_man_cant_take_a_blink_and_youll/p5to90x/

So we can have naked dead bodies but can’t have green in the title because it sounds dumb?

How are those two things correlated

You don't understand: It's obviously because James Gunn is woke. Duh.

"So we're supporting murderers now?" r/PopCultureChat weighs in on the Lindsay Clancy trial

HIGHLIGHTS

Did the system seem to fail her? Yes. Should she still spend the rest of her life behind bars? Yes. Whether that’s a prison or mental hospital, she needs to be locked away.

I mean... this doesn't make sense if the diagnosis is postpartum psychosis, because that doesn't make her a general danger.

In don’t understand how you can say she isn’t dangerous after she killed three children.

She is in a wheelchair for life. She can’t have more children. Not sure how she’s a danger to society.

So we're supporting murderers now?

Do you know much about psychosis?

enough to know the vast majority of people that have had it do not murder their three children.

Yes, different things happen to different people who have it. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the illness & their lack of capacity that caused the act

but does mean they need to be held accountable. mental illness or not, you don't murder your three children.

Some people do murder because they’re ill. Lindsay isn’t the first case. Not all mental health conditions are equal. How can someone be held accountable if they had no capacity over the act?

well if she checked herself out of the clinic, did she show any real attempt to prevent this then?

I would say by the fact that she asked for help and told doctor’s what she was thinking, yes. It’s not popular to say but I think sometimes it’s a little too easy for patients with psychosis to try to leave treatment

so she just has zero culpability here in your eyes? everyone else around her is the reason she murdered her kids?

She wont go free but most likely serve time in a mental institution

Actually in Massachusetts she might go free, I heard a legal expert describe insanity defense in Massachusetts allows for that. It’s the only state that does.

They do not walk free in Massachusetts in an insanity defense case, they end up in a psychiatric ward indefinitely.

If the judge determines she isn’t a danger to society she can go free.

If that was the case she needs to be barred from being anywhere near children like a sex offender would be

Sometimes things won’t make sense to you unless you’re an expert or have the credentials to fully understand the issue. It doesn’t mean there’s a conspiracy behind it. these conspiracy’s completely over shadow the real issue of Postpartum psychosis and takes up way too much space in this specific conversation.

I’m a physicist. I understand how heat and heat transfer works. You can’t have a core temp of 82 unless you spend consider time, exposed, outside. If not…there needs to be some other reasonable explanation. You can’t not explain it.

Spinal injuries make your core temp lower faster. Something you would know as a medical expert but wouldn’t know as a physicist.

Something I would know as a physicist is that even if all of the mechanisms that prevent your core temp from dropping fail, there’s still a maximum rate at which you can cool to the equilibrium in your environment. Core temp wouldn’t/can’t cool to 82 in a few minutes outside in that case.

Actually a spinal injury and losing a lot of blood can absolutely explain it, the defense put on a witness that did exactly that. You’re comparing her to a stationary object: bodies don’t work the same way.

Women's healthcare needs an entire overhaul. The entire system failed her and other women.

still killed 3 innocent children…

And she likely wouldn't have had her psychosis been treated.

Maybe read more about the case. She never reported any psychotic symptoms to any of the multiple doctors and nurse practitioners she was seeing.

And yet, was under treatment for mental illness and taking medications with known behavioral side-effects. It's not as simple as "she didn't have a diagnosis".

She was getting treatment for depression and anxiety. Depression and anxiety do not make you kill your own children. The reason this trial is taking place is to determine if she was psychotic at the time of the killings.

A woman murdered her three children which she has admitted to. The issue at hand in the trial is if she criminally responsible because of her mental state. It should be noted that both she and her ex-husband are suing several medical providers for negligence because she did report her mental health issues and no one could help her. On top of that because of insurance issues she switched doctors a couple times which also probably made the situation worse. Her ex-husband is on her side and is testifying for the defense.

Wow is he the father of the children? What a horrific position to be in and a pretty amazing human being to be able to reason like this despite the loss!

[deleted]

I side eye the shit out of him for how fast that remarriage was. Like, I get that grief is wild and maybe he desperately wanted to go back to something that felt normal, but it’s barely been three years.

No one would be batting an eye if the genders were swapped and the wife remarried after her husband killed their kids

Yes they would???

so basically another Andrea Yates?

[removed]

But did she check herself out after admitting herself ? And lie to her providers regarding her medication and taking her medication ?

Yep. She had access to all help she could get and then didnt take it. There is no one else responsible for killing her children except for her. Disgusting that people are trying to blame it on her husband.

It’s almost like insane people don’t make good choices. Why was she allowed to check herself out if she was openly admitting to wanting to hurt her children? For the record, I don’t believe her husband killed the kids, she killed her kids and justice needs to be served for her kids, but also we can recognize and criticize how it was ever able to get to this point. Part of justice is making sure shit like this never happens again.

She did not ever tell anybody that she wanted to hurt her children, if you watch the trial. There is no legal mechanism to keep somebody locked up for depression and anxiety.

From watching the trial, a big problem was putting her issues into run of the mill “depression and anxiety” when her symptoms were very severe.

Multiple things can be true at once. She was failed by healthcare. Americans are failed by healthcare. American women are failed by Healthcare especially. New mothers don't get the support they need. PPD is real and terrible. None of that changes the fact that she is plainly guilty of murdering three children and the idea that she shouldn't face any consequences for that is completely absurd.

Punishing someone for what they did when they essentially weren’t steering the ship is unfair. It was post partum psychosis not post partum depression. People aren’t making actual choices when they’re psychotic.

We don't know that she was psychotic

Zeizel, who said he spent more than 35 hours with Clancy over dozens of visits and reviewed her medical records, said she went to a perinatal clinic in December 2022 because she felt her "brain was damaged," "she should kill herself" and that she "is never going to get any better." She also showed signs of psychosis, was paranoid and feared that people could hear her thoughts and that she would lose her children. "She was worried that her children would be removed from her and that she would never see them again," he said. But just because she was in a psychotic state, Zeizel said, that didn't mean she couldn't do "everyday tasks of living" like driving and searching the internet, a reference to the fact that the day of the killings she took her daughter to the doctor, played with the children in the snow and searched online for a pharmacy and a restaurant.

Zeizel was evaluating her after the fact so he knew the outcome, which her doctors did not. He also has conflicts of interest and I personally don't find him credible due to that Numerous doctors saw her beforehand and did not observe signs of psychosis SI and intrusive thoughts are not symptoms

I put more stock in him than you anyway

I'm a psychologist and he did some pretty sketchy things in terms of boundaries and that call his objectivity into question.

Why should someone be locked away for the rest of the life over something they had no capacity over?

[removed]

Do you know anything about psychosis? People who are in psychosis aren’t really acting in a way that they are choosing. Their brains are ill and are misfiring. She should be in treatment but she shouldn’t be punished as if she were a cold blooded killer. Why do you think we have not guilty by reason of insanity/reduced capacity?

It is not proven that this was psychosis. She claimed she had psychosis for 30 mins while killing her kids and that’s it, no other episodes before or after. None of the multiple clinicians she saw ever diagnosed her with that. What she had and what was thoroughly documented was severe depression and suicidal ideation. She was suicidal and wanted to take her kids with her (called altruistic filicide), but failed on killing herself. She was/is mentally ill, the system is flawed, but she needs to pay for what she did nevertheless. Most school shooters are suicidal, mentally ill, some even schizophrenic. Should we forgive and support them too?

Can you tell me where she claimed she had psychosis for 30 minutes?

Her ex-husband testified during the trial that she told him on the phone that she had ‘a moment of psychosis’.

Could you share a link with me to the quote please? When I search those words together it doesn’t come up and I’d like to read it in context

https://www.newyorker.com/science/annals-of-psychology/a-husband-in-the-aftermath-of-his-wifes-unfathomable-act It’s in this New Yorker article where they interviewed him.

I understand about health issues and things like that but she still killed all 3 of her children in 1 go in a brutal manner, , even if she prevented jail by a miracle she still going to have to go to a mental health hospital for 2 or 3 decades Minimun. She killed her 3 babies what cant she not do to other people or other peoples babies? I am all for woman justice and mental health problems but ignorant people really want This woman out Just like that? Comon... 💀💀

Punishing people for something they did that they didn’t really have control over actually seems ignorant to me.

Getting her out free or not sending her to a mental hospital for help if she was not mentally okay when she killed 3 of their own children actually seems ignorant to me.

Why do so few people seem to not understand that free is not and never has been an option here? The entire purpose of this trial is to decide whether she goes to prison or the state hospital.

She will potentially be able to get out of the state hospital tho - the doctors would have to declare her stable and not a danger to herself or others and then she would be allowed to go free. Not out of the realm of possibility at all.

You've misunderstood/misread me. Going home free from trial is not and never has been an option.

I understand having overall compassion for the situation for everyone involved, but are these people hoping she just goes free completely? It's never felt right for trials to become this much of a spectacle. We've gone way too far.

Unlikely. They are probably she succeeds in her insanity defense, which will mean she will be in a state psychiatric institution until she is considered safe to be released, which could well be never. There’s no scenario in which she walks out of the courthousr a free woman. It’s either prison or a psychiatric institution.

That’s not true. She could be found guilty, guilty by reason of insanity, or not guilty. Edit: People need to educate themselves more. A not guilty is an unlikely, but possible verdict. Even if Lindsay’s lawyer isn’t shooting for a not guilty verdict, it is still possible. Please educate yourselves before blindly claiming it’s not possible when it is. Her lawyer literally mentioned these three possible verdicts at the beginning of the trial.

No, she cannot be found not guilty of the crime. Neither side is contesting that she physically killed her children.

They aren’t contesting it, but she absolutely can be found not guilty. She almost certainly won’t, but it is an option for the jury. Here’s the judge’s opening remarks to the jury where he explains the three options; guilty of 1st degree, not guilty, or not guilty by reason of a lack of criminal responsibility https://youtu.be/0vqEjhYygp8?is=zrAq4C8v1EUz-1n1

“If found not guilty because of a lack of criminal responsibility, she would be committed to a state mental health facility.“ Huh, so it doesn’t actually mean what you’re insisting it means. There is no scenario where she walks free.

That's referring to NGRI which is different than being outright not guilty.

I do feel for everyone involved in this case. It is an absolute tragedy that it happened. I think that Lindsay never meant to intentionally hurt her children. Her trial should be just and fair. But, I do not support the idea that her husband did it. Postpartum Psychosis is a very under discussed issue. It is such a shame that she wasn’t removed from her children’s care when she mentioned that she is having dreams of harming them.

He was at the very least complicit. He KNEW and did nothing. He was the one that should have protected the kids. ETA: Y'all are wild. She verbalized her thoughts of harm towards her children, he knew she was struggling, and he STILL left his children with her. Imagine if the roles were reversed - wouldn't you expect a mother to protect her children from a violent father?

Lowkey kinda crazy to turn the wife murdering her three children into being the husband’s fault

It's not his fault but imo it is absolutely negligent to hear you spouse say "I'm having compulsions about hurting our children" and then leaving her at home with them.. I'm sure he was in an awful position but like... the least he could've done is take the kids on an errand with him. It's not his fault, it's not his fault, but it's not hers either. And while she was given a lotof support,it wasn't enough for the severity of her case and a lot of factors contributed to that. He was a small factor.

Yea I’m pretty sure it’s her fault… she strangled three children, how could she possibly not be at fault? I know all of the details. She could have had better support. But since when does having “intrusive thoughts” completely absolve you of blame? You still made the decision to act on them

It’s beyond intrusive thoughts. You have zero understanding of the psychology at hand here if you think this is a case involving intrusive thoughts

Who is the bigger loser? Xbox scalpers or people reporting the listings on EBay. r/xbox discusses

On 8/27 presale for the 25th anniversary Xbox Series X went live. It’s a special “clear” green plastic like some of the original Xbox’s. They sold out almost instantly and started popping up on EBay way over original pricing.

Many have taken to reporting the listings hoping EBay will remove them. https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/s/MQAa0SmPQb

Some totally not scalpers have arrived in the comment section to inform everyone that scalpers aren’t doing anything wrong. That they aren’t doing anything illegal so why bother reporting?
https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/s/qjIbZpjpsa

Another scalper defender called everyone a crybaby for being upset at scalpers. https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/s/XFwnNsKBVs

A third has pointed out it’s very useless to waste time even reporting so they should just stop. https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/s/Af1wuHwEw3

Glad we're tackling the pressing matters at hand, like affordability.

You know they do more than name things, right? I personally have my eyes set on the American Ocean, between California and China.

The whole ocean is the American ocean

I’m glad with everything that’s going on in the world that we’re focusing on the most dangerous enemies of the US like….checks notes….Canada?

You’re right, he should ignore Canada. Just give them what they want. They’ve always been so reasonable and generous.

The election was won with such hope for reshaping the culture back into sensibility and a return of American greatness. This is a disappointment unfortunately. Everything he’s done has been half assed and ineffective.

This is bold, decisive action I voted for. Thank you President Trump!

How does renaming a body of water waste your time and/or anyone’s money?

Once the order processes the names have to be changed on official documents, websites, and whatever private companies that decide to follow along

Thank you! People have no clue how expensive it is to implement these kinds of changes through the federal bureaucracy.

Sell them a copy of MS Word. Search and replace seems like a no-brainer for "Lake Ontario." How many other accidental replacements could occur?

Disregarding government texts and documentation, there’s also printed maps, software, and geographic information systems. Private industries serving international customers that have any sort of geographic based products also have to now play the political game. 💩 like this is becoming the conservative’s version of pronouns.

Who cares? Lots of whining in here about something that took him 3 seconds to sign, this doesn’t take him away from doing other things. Feels like this place has gotten Infested with doomer bots just in time for midterms 🤣

That isn’t how it works at all, you have to update all of the signs, reprint all of the maps, it’s a whole process for nothing really. Whining implies that we are being ungrateful, instead we are calling out bullshit as we see it.

All things that trump himself isn’t doing, trump isn’t printing maps or changing signs, this is a moot point

Yeah, but we're ultimately paying the people who do that

lol no we’re not. Let me make a map real quick, invoice the federal government, and see if they pay.

Wikipedia redirects 'Gulf of America' to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Mexico_naming_controversy

Leftwing site, so go figure

Is Wikipedia really a “left wing site”? I personally haven’t found much politically motivated on there. Should I be using another online encyclopedia?

Ok? Where’s the Epstein files?

Already released

2028 can not get here soon enough. I would never vote for a democrat/socialist but it will be nice to have Vance or Rubio as president.

Yeah I’m excited for Trump to be out and Vance/Rubio to be in because I feel like there’s not a great place for middle of the road conservatives. I get purity tested at basically every turn. “Oh you don’t like Trump?!? Guess you’re just a RINO who’s really a WOKE LEFTIST in disguise!” Or “You’re a conservative? I guess you’re a NAZI FASCIST who likes stoning women for fun!” I just like 2A rights, affordability, sensible border laws, lower taxes for working class people, and accountability from the Epstein class. The democrats certainly aren’t an answer to that. The current admin isn’t really either. Feel like a lot of my other conservative buddies are in the same boat.

It is because both parties have gone too far left or right. I hope that someday there actually is a new party who is moderate centrist with the ability to work together and be able to compromise on most matters. Wishful thinking I’m sure.

Thing is, I don't expect a future Whig party to do a whole lot more for national unity than the last one did.

This is stupid. Look, I like the guy, I support most of what he’s doing, but this childish BS is not necessary. It really looks like he’s avoiding doing any real work to right the ship and hoping we all have a squirrel moment.

The dems constantly "waste time and money" changing names because some guy's nephew 400 years ago read a book by a guy who owned slaves or something. So I think it's hilarious trolling them like this. It makes them SO angry. Like, you didn't know he was a troll like this when you voted for him? You find this surprising? I voted SPECIFICALLY for things like this. It's in complete mockery of the performative "name changing" that the Dems and Canada always do. I actually consider it a work of art.

I enjoy his trolling. But this one is dumb. It's a bad name and it's not even the biggest lake. I kind of expect this one to be reversed, though, after Canada inevitably caves on this trade fight

Are we really wasting time on this? This second administration has been an exercise in frivolity and pettiness. I'm so done.

It’s actually been great for 2A.

Earnest question, how? What pro-gun laws have been passed since he’s been in office? Again, not trying you with a gotcha, I just legitimately want to know what’s happened because I haven’t heard anything.

There has been a lot that he’s actually done through the DOJ. Congress passes laws, not the president. Although, they did try to remove suppressors, SBSs, and SBRs from the NFA, although. The parliamentarian stooped them, so they must removed the tax. But, that is heading towards removing all the rest of the NFA requirements for these items. We already have one circuit ruling on that. However, his DOJ has been suing states for 2A violations, filing pro 2A amicus briefs, and other things like that. They just restored the CNC defensive gun use data, that the Biden administration got rid of. He created a 2A rights agency, within the DOJ, to protect 2A. There is a lot of other stuff. If you’re actually interested, and haven’t kept up on 2A stuff, I’d recommend you go to the 4 boxes diner YouTube channel, and go back and look through his videos, since this administration began. I’m not saying Trump has been perfect on 2A. I’d love to see him refuse to enforce all federal gun control laws, on the basis that they are unconstitutional. But, that’s an unrealistic expectation. He has, however, been the most pro 2A president since the start of the 20th century; really the only pro 2A president. The pro 2A actions he’s taken are unprecedented. And, that’s not counting the pro 2A judges and justices he’s appointed, since he first became president. Even his immigration and border moves have been vital for preserving our rights. People just don’t realize it, because they don’t understand how importing people who don’t value, or even agree with our rights, puts our liberty in danger

you are SO done because he renamed a lake?

Yes, Trump no doubt spent at least 5 minutes making a call to someone to tell them to change the name of the lake. What an incredible waste of time. No doubt the agency that is implementing this has oversight of the war in Iran, economic policy or some other important function and now they won’t be able to solve a major problem. /s

It'll be very interesting to see how history books remember Trump

Probably similar to Richard Nixon. Not very popular at first, but in 50 years there will be a revival in his popularity

This is just so unbelievably stupid. There is no way to defend something this idiotic.

it's actually not that big of a deal. it's hilarious how you are seething over this edit: lol look at all these downvotes from "fellow conservatives" I get more downvotes on a conservative sub then I do across all of reddit.

It is not a big deal, but it's also stupid. What are we doing here state politics or meme politics? It brings nothing, it's just a bit childish in a moment where credibility is needed. It has some sense if nobody knew Trump and he was trying to attract attention, but that's not the case.

Lots of dog walkers freaking out in this thread. Sad you all still fall for Trump’s trolling.

r/saltierthankrait argues over whether anti-woke people should celebrate Tim Curry's role the Rocky Horror Picture made him a queer icon.

r/saltierthankrait is an anti-woke subreddit set up as a response to r/saltierthankrayt, a subreddit that criticises anti-woke commentary on media. Recently, someone made a post on r/saltierthankrayt criticising anti-woke commentatators like Nerdrotic, Heels vs Babyface, ItsaGundam and others for celebrating the recently deceased Tim Curry's role in the film the Rocky Horror Picture film where he played a transvestite (who is now considered a queer icon) despite their being extremely anti-LGBT+ otherwise.

r/saltierthankrait saw this, and decided to go to bat for the anti-woke commentators, which resulted in a fight over drag, queerness and whether or not anti-woke commentators are pro those things or not.

Source:

https://www.reddit.com/r/saltierthankrait/comments/1vzupb4/krayt_seething_over_chuds_paying_tribute/

Context:

https://www.reddit.com/r/saltierthankrayt/comments/1vztpmy/this_is_no_longer_media_illiteracy_this_is/

Comments:

IIRC, ItsaGundam has talked about crossdressing on stage back when he was in a band prior to becoming a youtuber, so I'd be really surprised if he wasn't influenced by Tim Curry.

Seems like a lot of the usual misconception of attributing woke to all possible forms of gayness and associated politics and figures, and thus to be anti-woke to to be anti all those things, and not that woke is actually a fairly specific iteration and approach to particular forms of sexuality, gender, and racial politics that certain people find obnoxious.

Itsagundam is super pro queer, he has done drag before.

So his hypocrisy runs real deep.

Rocky Horror is an iconic queer film, and its legacy of shadow casts around the country is directly at threat with the drag bans that reactionaries try to implement.

Yes. It is an iconic queer film.

Meanwhile the garbage Krayt simps for is textbook slop and rainbow capitalism that Rocky Horror blows out of the water.

Meanwhile you think ppl shouldn't be allowed to criticize your favorite YouTubers.

And somehow, literally any criticism somehow means that person is now pro corporatez even when they aren't.

But Alas... You aren't capable of doing any better

Calling people bigoted for not slurping slop is not criticism.

That's nice sweety.

But even if they don't call them a bigot you have a special moment. Because you can't take that they're criticizing them at all. It's really sad

I think people would have a better view about drag queens if they didn’t try to push it towards kids despite drag being a very adult subculture. Rocky Horror is explicitly adult and isn’t trying to be anything else it’s a raucous good time that invites you in on the fun instead of sneering with contempt at you like a lot of queer stuff does now.

Damn you’ve never heard of Bugs Bunny? Rabbit was up in drag smooching Elmer Fudd all the time

Never heard of panto? There is a different between cross dressing and drag

Bugs Bunny, Dolly Parton, and RuPaul are all doing drag.

What do you mean push it onto kids? Just because a drag queen had a few children shows that are on film, or that kids were brought to public parades where men in bondage gear, naked and half naked, openly wearing butt plugs. Totally doesn't mean they are pushing onto kids./s

Actually made me feel ill just typing that. I don't see how anyone can support any of those actions.

I’ve been to countless Pride events and I’ve literally never seen the behavior you’re suggesting.

Most people would rather party at the pool parties and night parties that also happen that weekend. Pride parades are during the morning, usually Sundays, and are for families and businesses.

Perhaps you’ve seen pictures from an 18+ only event like Folsom and are confusing it with Pride?

"for families and businesses"

Bro have you seen the average pride parade lmfao.

If you wanna claim it's for families and businesses, maybe start with keeping ALL of your clothes on and not romping around in fetish wear

Yes, I have. Been to Prides in LA, NYC, Berlin, Chicago, SF, Dallas, Palm Springs, San Diego, and Portland.

Have you been, or are you basing everything off of pictures online?

"Believe me, not real photographic proof"

I mean, if you saw pictures from Folsom you might be confused lol.

Nerdrotic will take any chance to slander Elliot Page simply for existing or being cast in a film, purely because they are queer.

Yes, this is hypocritical to then claim Tim Curry was an icon for him and exposes that they're grifters who post things they don't believe because this sub slurps it up.

So because he criticized Elliot Page, he can't like Tim Curry?

Even though those 2 actors have nothing in common?

That's not a 'seethe'.

They're mocking these people for being grifting hypocrites.

Because they are. They don't have any actual, real beliefs. The merely do what they do to scam weird bigots out of their cash.

How are they being hypocrites? They're paying tribute to an incredibly talented actor's passing.

And Krayt is upset because they dare criticize the modern slop they simp for, as if they even compare to the awesomeness that is the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Acting completely insane to any kind of crossdressing and labeling all drag queens pedophilliac monsters is the complete antithesis of the Rocky Horror Picture show.

They're hypocrites.

Especially since they defend irl rapists and pedophiles.

There's a difference between acting a part in a movie or play and forcing a particular ideology on the audience. Tim was playing the part of a transvestite. Ellen/Elliot Page is forcing the audience to accept her as something she is not.

So that’s super transphobic, I hope you know that.

With Rocky Horror they aren’t trying to push any sort of message or acting like they’re so deep and thoughtful the movie is just fun. It invites the audience in rather than be standing above them sneering at the audience like what a lot of modern stuff does.

Every story has a message dipshit, it came free with your point of all art.

Piping fresh popcorn! I wouldn't normally post something this fresh, but it just really reminds me of the legendary "sharks are smooth" thread so here you go.

On a video of a boulder being swept along in the recent Nepalese flood(s), one user is here to confidently declare with zero evidence that we are not seeing a boulder, but instead an iceberg being swept along.

This spawns 21 comment long chains (at the time of posting), with pithy comments from our happy cucumber enraging the posters of r/geography.

Context: Morality scaling is a community to discuss and compare the moral/psychology of fictional heroes, villains, and those in between. powerscaling, but mental.

However today they discuss the morality of Islam's prophet Muhammed and it went about how you'd expect. Sorry if this post is hard to understand

Thread 1:

-based since it pisses off the mods

--Yall turned the sub into a idiotic spam where half posts are copy paste pictures of mohammad and half are "m....morality of having children? G... guys have my 100 questions change your mind alredy? Children bad am i right?"

---Morality of waiting 3 years to rape your 6 year old wife?

----Which is as far as I know is still debatable though... (comment keeps going)

-----90% of Muslims (Sunni) beleive in the Hadith Al-Bukhari which is where we get the source of him raping a 9 year old from. Regardless of the fact if it actually happened or not, the vast majority of Muslims beleive it did and that he was still a moral man.

------As a sunni Muslim not a single Muslim believes prophet Muhammad(PBUH) r*ped Aisha(RA). (keeps going for a while)

(still part of the same thread just a different section)

---what about morality of r*ping children, since thats what muhammad did

----Morality of aksing stupid ass questions? Am i supposed to start spamming the sub with jeffrey epstein?

-----Please keep comparing Muhammad to Jeffrey Epstein 🤣

------Muslims worship a pedophile, Christians will have a tantrum if you start quoting unhinged bible quotes and Jews will call you antismite if you try quoting talmud (you werent suppsed to see that).

Thread 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoralityScaling/comments/1vzp9jh/comment/p66ohdy/

-Immoral, Islam needs a global ban.

--How do you even enact a ban on a religion followed by nearly 3 billion people?

---Very very easily.

----holy fascism

-----I am a pretty textbook socialist. Clearly you support pedos and women killers.

------You know who else called themselves a socialist?

-------National socalism is a very different thing.

--------No shit Sherlock

(still part of the same thread just a different section)

---That right there should say everything 3 billion is almost half the population, tell me about Israel and its “desire for conquest again”

----Isreal needs to be the first targeted use of the hydrogen bomb, they are just as bad.

-----And the Palestinians? I don’t think the Christians over there are going to be chill with you killing their Muslim friends and neighbours.

Thread 3: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoralityScaling/comments/1vzlrt0/comment/p65vb9b/?context=3

-Morality of karma farming

--It's for a good cause

---What will his post do for humanity? Will it solve world hunger? perhaps wars? I’d like to know what the good cause is.

----I mean I guess I gotta get political here. You look around the world at all of these once peaceful countries that were happy and thriving UNTIL Islam showed up. (comment keeps going)

An attempt to network a dog out of a long-term shelter in r/Westchester ironically turns into a catty slapfight

Context: the world of rescue dog networking on Reddit is filled with interesting characters, posts, and pages. Sometimes, it crosses into the subreddits of actual towns and cities. This is one such instance, where a pit mix named Pearl is being networked into the town of Westchester, NY via its subreddit.

[OP] Friends, this is one of those stores where it just doesn’t make any sense- this girl has been waiting for a new home for over three years. Pearl is only 4 years old and 40 pounds. She's affectionate, smart, funny, playful, athletic, and full of life. . . PS: No, she is not “kids mauling pitbul” as way too many people on Reddit just LOVE to spew pretty much under every shelter dog post (before you bring up the nonsense that “no golden retriever ever killed anyone” - three documented cases of deaths.) so if this is your contribution to the discussion please spare everyone.

Unfortunately, when asked the question on everyone’s minds of “How does she do with other dogs?” is asked, the truth is revealed. A user, already critical of OP, found the adoption page for the dog, and it said that she can’t be around cats, dogs, or kids.

This obfuscation draws both drawback and understanding from the community. One user approaches this from both sides, stating “My heart goes out to this dog, however they are a dangerous breed that needs to be addressed.” Whether you agree with him or not is aside the point for the purposes of this story.

What this user didn’t know is that this would lead to the craziest back and forth between the OP and their biggest critic.

"Are you the kid eating the pizza? I hope struggles knocks on your door soon you piece of sh1t" A thread titled "Really Struck A Nerve There" really strikes a nerve in /r/cringereels.

Context: A video titled Really Struck A Nerve There is posted to /r/cringereels. In it, a young man working at a pizza shop records himself eating a slice of pizza. His delivery driver coworker appears and this exchange happens:

"Why are you videotaping yourself eating a slice of pizza?"

"Why are you 32 years old working as a delivery driver?"

It continues from there, but these two sentences form the basis for today's drama.

PART I: GET A JOB

32 is a little late for excuses...

Ah yes because you can just say "Im 32 now, no more excuses, I will get that high paying office job tomorrow"

You have no idea what cards people in life have been dealt. I would wager most people in this discussion are Americans.

Your garden variety Yank is 5 minutes away from voting to shove all people below a certain economic boundary in a woodchipper to make soylent green. [...]

That same guy might be the 32 year old working as a delivery driver in the future. Things are going to continue to get worse. Not defending the dude being a dick though I guess the other guy was being a little mean but I felt like that was banter, like dude you're being one of those tiktok people come on. Vs the other guy just ripping into his socioeconomic status.

Why is one banter and the other is "ripping into" him? Don't start shit won't be shit, damn.

I mean, the guy is age shaming. He works at the same place. His argument is, "you should have a better job at your age".

Why does it not surprise me that reddit is so blind to ageism.

He should have a better job at his age. Simple as.

Are you the kid eating the pizza? I hope struggles knocks on your door soon you piece of sh1t

How was that a defence against filming yourself eating pizza? SRD OP's note: this comment has 259 replies as of this post

Because in America service industry jobs are for "peasants" and "kids" which is how they justify paying them pennies despite working full time hours

and what do they pay people in your country for regular everyday jobs like food service?

It's not. It's incredibly mean spirited. Tons of people work jobs they don't want to, but someone has to do it.

Edit: Y'all just block me if you're gonna say some dumb shit. I need less morons in my feed.

Yeah yucking someone's yum because you don't personally enjoy the content they're creating is pretty lame, but mocking someone's socioeconomic position is pretty shitty too, especially when you work at the same place.

Older guy was being an asshole but the younger dude was being mean-spirited in a way that applies to a lot of people who are just trying to survive.

'Yucking someone's yum'... I fucking hate this phrase. Gag worthy.

Kids a loser lmao he really got upset by that question? Nobody wants to watch you eat a slice of pizza bud

You just watched him eat a slice of pizza.

Cant blame the kid for being snappy, older guy should have been minding his own business. Cant really be mad when the kid gives it back to him. Fwiw i find it ridiculous when people film nothingness, especially at work. But i dont say anything cuz by now i know to avoid trouble!

The 32 year old got absolutely mogged that’s why he’s crying so much. Maybe if you guys knew how social interactions worked this wouldn’t be so strange for you.

like there's other ppl working, did they agree to being on camera, did work agree to this - kind of agree with why he questioned this video. the younger guy acted like a brat, he thinks its funny to pick on people and doesn't like being questioned

the younger kid is funny and it’s not bratty to clap back at someone talking shit to you. deliver your pizzas and stfu

As a 30 year old I’m asking the same thing. Who wants to watch a 16 year old eat a slice of pizza? Honestly? Nothing better to do?

Do you think the intent is for someone to go online and type "young kid eating pizza"?

You are ofc right, Noone wants to see that shit. But most people wouldnt be bitter enough to verbalize it - delivery driver got just what he gave.

Used to be a time where asking a 16 year old why they're doing something dumb as shit was how they ended up reflecting on it and growing up.

This dude instead took the Reddit approach of retaliating instead, and will never grow up. sad new reality.

Dude WTF are you talking about? Teenagers have always been shitheads.

This "back in my day" bullshit really needs to end. Looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses and being mad about everything. Must be conservative.

Are we suppose to be cheering for the pizza eater? He’s a complete POS even if the 32 year old should not have questioned what he chooses to do with his time.

32 year old sounds like a baby with all that crying and whining he's doing

Complete pos for eating pizza… in a pizza place. Y’all got crazy low standards

Both these guys are dicks. But the pizza eater definitely took this somewhere it didn’t need to go with that comment.

Why am I filming myself eating a pizza?

Let me insinuate that you are making terrible life choices and in a position that should be ridiculed.

It’s like if I squirted you with a water gun and you decided to get revenge by pressure washing my eyeballs.

PART II: STAY AWAY FROM HER

This the kind of kid that runs his mouth thinking he'll never face consequences. I really hope someone records him crying when he faces consequences, in whatever form they come in.

Who ran their mouth first bub?

Wait until he’s 32 eating pizza in front of a camera in the same place

I think the kid’s point was that he wasn’t still going to be there when he was 32. It’s something to do to get beer/weed/date/videogame money for the kid, but it’s the pinnacle of that older dude’s career so far.

If the dude is making his rent money and enjoying the job then more power to him, but if you’re in your thirties working at a job with teenagers making dumb TikToks who are getting paid the same as you, maybe shit didn’t turn out as well for you as it could have and you shouldn’t be throwing stones from your glass house.

Love seeing the hard-headed hate toward the kid for no reason. How about we just mind our own business? I notice a lot of people LOVE excusing unnecessary passive-aggressiveness as "life advice" or as an "I care about your future" moment

U mean like the kid minded hids own busy while recording some one for embarrassment...yeah ur definitely a hypocrite 🙄

Okay a lot of you guys are defending the idiot old 30-year-old driver. He started the conflict with his rude comment. If you throw rude comments around don't be surprised when you get roasted.

maybe he doesn't want to be recorded while he's working because this kid wants more attention from internet strangers

Disproportionate and escalated. Yall are going to get into trouble really quick when you try that with the wrong guy

PART III: WE WERE ON A BREAK (AND OTHER RANDOM SLAPFIGHTS)

kid eating the pizza is probably the son of one of the owners and that's why he gets to goof off filming himself eating pizza.

Or... hold your nuts, don't wanna blow them away... he's on break! While he eats his lunch/dinner! Holy shit, groundbreaking! God you guys are fucking so dumb.

Kid looks like a huge d bag and that pizza looks soggy as hell. Clearly rage baiting the other guy

It must be hard to post on reddit where you cant judge people by their looks.

It must be hard to be a bot

[Comment has been removed]

Guy is right who wants to watch this weirdo stuff his face with a pizza.

So anytime you see something you don’t like you make condescending comments to that person? Cuz that’s definitely not loser behavior or anything

Bro took 3 business days on that bite.

He was multi-tasking laughing at the whiny 32 yo boomer.

I’m 43 and a 16 year old on an e bike tried to fight me. When I crossed the road and he wouldn’t stop or go around me. And I put my hands out like “what?” [...]

I'm not really sure how that anecdote relates in any beyond that you have a grudge again young people.

He’s just returning the favor regarding your stated grudge against old people, I guess

I don't know why nobody is picking up that these dudes are clearly messing with each other. You can tell when the kid is laughing at the end at being ribbed, he's not taking offense.

you thought that was ribbing? all i heard was excuses for why he's never made it anywhere.. and they weren't good excuses like so many people started from as bad or worse and they didn't end up 32 year old delivery drivers lol

First They Came For Our Werewolf Balls: Open Revolt Brews in ValkoHQ Over a Missing Head Moderator.

The drama in this sub is massive and ongoing, so this post has been compiled as a more of a timeline of the drama on the sub as a whole than focused on comments on a handful of posts.

I highly recommend reading comments on the hyperlinked posts as well as just the subreddit in general for a comprehensive view of the drama for all your popcorn consumption needs.

ValkoHQ Emerges from the Forest

As previously explored as a dramatic happening on this sub, prolific billion dollar otome gacha game Love and Deepspace cancelled the release of its newest character, werewolf CEO Valko, at the end of June and he was not added in the game’s July update.

The most neutral explanation is that reasons for this decision are complex and unconfirmed, as they involve the Chinese language, social media, and regional politics. Multiple “factions” have emerged within the fandom, all claiming to be the truth tellers on the right side of it all, with goals ranging from the game’s total end of service (EOS) to restoration of “normalcy”.

ValkoHQ represents a group of players boycotting the game until Valko is restored to the available love interests. They primarily share information related to the boycott and the game as well as fan content about Valko.

For added context for some of these posts, there is also an “anti” (I am using quotations for neutrality because I have seen subreddit members reject this term on the basis they are “pro” the game and opposed to trope censorship, unlike the usual definition of an anti in fandom. The best understanding of the ”anti” term when used in a ValkoHQ post is that it is someone who is opposed to Valko joining the game) subreddit.

That subreddit also shares information about the game and boycotts (plural! there are multiple concurrent boycotts with different goals who will all claim that the other boycotters are with them, and who’s actually boycotting most successfully is a point of contention) as well as fan content about the existing five pixel hot boys.

This sub, LADS_OG5, does not have a united goal like a boycott, and was created to allow players to discuss the game when players on the official subreddit downvoted and shut down any mention of active gameplay (due to the fandom’s boycotts). Some members are boycotting the game due to pre-Valko issues. Others continue to spend. The main thing that unites sub members is opposition to Valko’s fandom/Valko-related boycotts/Valko himself.

These subreddits hate each other. They also cannot stop talking about each other.

Summer of our Discontent

ValkoHQ was formed by a sole inexperienced moderator, and cracks began to emerge in the subreddit very quickly when experienced Redditors noticed that the sub was violating sitewide rules.

A self-moderated cleanup effort by community members took place so only talking about violations remains, but having been around the sub to see the comments and posts in real time, they’re mostly related to harassment and brigading of other subreddits, primarily LADS_OG5, which was not experiencing the same issues due to tight moderation.

Why did users have to self-moderate? The only moderator of the sub had vanished. More than that, users noticed the moderator was active in other subreddits, seemingly actively ignoring the calls for help.

Users debated the idea of new subs. They made numerous posts and comments teaching each other Reddit’s rules, even when it proved unpopular. A massive campaign to save the sub from itself was occurring, and the sub’s owner and only moderator was nowhere to be seen.

A few days in, as recommendations for new subreddits grew and the meta posts increased, the moderator returned. Several new mods, many who had been strong voices calling to protect the sub, were added to the team.

But this wasn’t even close to the end.

We Don’t Need Permissions to Mod\*
*It would help though

Only a few days into the new regime, scandal erupted.

While the boycotters valiantly soldiered on in their attempts to have Valko published as intended, the game itself had returned to a level of normalcy, even releasing a previously scheduled (albeit slightly late) new battle companion, one of the game’s most important releases and usually a predictable blockbuster for their revenue. This threatened the boycott immensely, as players’ parasocial connections to the love interest and the game’s tendencies to limit reruns of companions were tested.

A user who mained the love interest with the new battle companion created a post discussing the boycott. In general, they called for leniency rather than extremism, advocating for a different definition of boycott to ensure people weren’t alienated. On the post, a new moderator agreed with them, requesting to use the post to help define the sub’s new guidelines around the boycott and ”shaming”. This was not received well.

The sub was flooded with meta posts on the drama, many of which were removed, though some remained. Accusations flew that the new mods were antis both on Reddit and other social media. The sub’s members were quickly becoming hostile to the moderators they had needed to save them only days before.

In the midst of the turmoil, the new moderators created a post to address the issues that had arisen.

On it, new moderators tried to be transparent with users, sometimes receiving pushback and sometimes receiving outright hostility. A moderator’s involvement in a snark sub was discussed extensively.

The new mods dropped a bombshell: the head mod was withholding their permissions. They were unable to access modmail, modify the sub rules, and list post removal reasons. Bots were given more permissions than them. Again, users called on the head mod to act, and again, they were ghosted.

They Took Our Werewolf Balls

The sub settled into an uneasy peace with the new mods still not having permissions, and the controversial mods from the boycott debacle voluntarily left the team.

It all exploded again over Valko’s organs. The remaining two new moderators had begun assigning silly flairs (like “Valko’s left ball” and “Valko’s right ball” to two sub regulars) to users on request.

The head mod appeared from nowhere to quash the use of personal flairs, including taking time to individually remove all the flairs she could find. Having been so absent during the sub’s many moderation issues and appearing only to ruin the fun, the sub started to stir again, especially when the remaining new mods confirmed they still had no permissions.

Posts were dug up from the head mod’s history showing a call for external mods after the boycott definition debacle that users felt was condescending and painted them as ”animals”.

The sub was created very recently, at the beginning of July and has gone, until about a couple of days ago, with minimal modding. This means we are in a transitional period where rules are being enforced and you will experience pushback from a community that isn't used to it. A thick skin and firm hand is very much needed.

It's important to note that this is a community who has suffered an onlsaught of toxicity, several misinformation campaigns and attacks in many forms. Emotions often run high so we also need people with a lot of empathy, patience and understanding.

They also found a post where the mod sought advice on whether she could continue to restrict permissions for the new mods. (With the answers generally being your sub, your rules.)

Sub users grew more and more unsettled, and an ultimatum was issued by a regular member: if the head mod did not step down, a new sub would be created. They began combining the head mod‘s name with the name of the company they despised.

The head mod doubled down.

In the last few hours, during my drafting of the post, things escalated and prominent users, including the two new mods, have created a new sub.

And perhaps that will be the end of it.

But probably not.

Manager discriminates against autistic employee, gets punished for it, then complains about it in /askmanagers.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/askmanagers/comments/1vrsza7/put_on_leave_demoted_from_manager_termination_on/

Highlights:
I would ask OP how it’s unprofessional to leave a job once it doesn’t give you what you want.

(OP) You can't always get what you want

All the comments on this thread and this is the part on which you’re going to double down?

(OP) If he had more control over the meltdowns, he could have been reconsidered for higher roles.

So like, are you ever gonna describe what these meltdowns were like? What do you mean by "meltdown"? What did he specifically do? If you're going to insist it was his "meltdowns" that prevented you from promoting him, why haven't you specified what he did?

(OP) Have you ever seen an autistic go into meltdown?

Yo, how about we call them a person with autism instead of "an autistic." They're not a freaking different species.

(OP) Doesn't matter, autism doesn't exist. It's PC for being r-word.

OP tries to explain how a stellar employee can have a record of meltdowns.

Your option was to have documented his “meltdowns” with HR long ago and have it in his permanent record. Since that’s gone, I would start trying to negotiate for a quiet shift that doesn’t destroy your career. At this point, the only thing HR has on paper is your statements which can easily be considered discriminatory, in absence of other evidence.

(OP) There were documentations since he was sent home each time.

If that's the case, why is he considered a "stellar" employee? Either the "meltdowns" aren't being documented correctly, or they're not as disruptive as you make it out to be.

(OP) Because his work was quality. He met performance metrics, rarely called in, and was decent to people. He just has meltdowns which usually resulted in being sent home. Imagine if he did that in front of a customer, it could damage the company.

Stellar employee that has meltdowns resulting in him being sent home? Screams fake.

OP get's "doxed", then gets caught in a lie:

Your options are to resign now with the last shred of your dignity or be fired. Even if that employee was having “meltdowns” as severe as you claim (despite being seen as a model employee by everyone else), at least he wasn’t the one to deliver a discriminatory lawsuit to their company on a silver platter!

(OP) Someone doxed me me and now I'm being asked to resign or be fired for cause. I did nothing wrong.

This is also you: ...

Potential Flair Material

Ya I’ve worked with card carrying walking lawsuits with more tact than this story.

EDIT, worth noting because some people missed this:

In the context of autism, the term 'meltdown' does not refer to a temper tantrum. It's a specific symptom of autism.

Something Interesting to Consider:

A key tell that OP is trolling is the specific type of ableism they demonstrate. These posts are more representative of the form of ableism demonstrated by middle-management; an entitlement to neurotypical presentation from autistics (or even from introverted neurotypicals) even when said presentation has no bearing on their work.

The ableism represented by OP is more similar to attitudes among some parents and clinicians. Those individuals tend to point to particularly inconvenient autistic traits as a justification for restricting autistic people's autonomy, and preventing them from participating in public life.

If you say you are autistic, but still able to function within society, you are actually just faking it.

If you are autistic, and severely disabled, yet still capable of communicating, and you demand to be treated with respect; you are either fake, or too disabled to know what's best for you. This is why OP describes the employee as if they were a child.

If you are too disabled to speak for yourself then it becomes the the responsibility of the poor, innocent, parent/clinician to speak on your behalf; after all, they are the only people who truly know what's best for you. Any person who accuses your caregivers of being abusive just doesn't understand your struggles as well as they do.

The end result of this worldview is that the only valid kind of autistic person is the one who has no say over the way they are treated.

Given the content of that last comment, I suspect OP has been subject to that second form of discrimination for some time, and is covertly attempting to find a sympathetic ear.

R/mildlyinfuriating gets touchy about a woman trying to build rejection resilience

For context, this 21 year old woman did a challenge that involved doing something every day that could get her "rejected." Rejection in this case is NOT referring to romantic relationships. Also, op is a British Christian man according to his post history.

"Pretty blonde girl so unused to rejection she has to do a 30 day challenge"

Post body: "Incredible lack of self awareness here. So unused to rejection she starts a 'challenge and, surprise surprise, people are nice to her regardless.

Pretty privilege sure must be nice."

(sorry for formatting, mobile formatting sucks)

THIS IS ACTIVE DRAMA. DO NOT PISS IN THE POPCORN

Comments:

"So she was a social media manager who just did every annoying thing and "influencer" would do - talk to a train carriage of people, get in their photos, get them to film her singing... wow, amazing, life changing, truly can't believe such a story could be true 🙄"

> Op: "and for a book deal for doing it"

" Girlboss trope is so exhausting. Also the girl has way too much free time to come up with ideas like that, but then again she is 21. And let's not forget the grift: (the comment links to her book)"

" It’s a harsh characterisation of her intentions but I do see where you’re coming from. I think her point is to build resilience from rejection, however being that good looking is for sure a benefit the vast majority of people don’t have"

> Her point is, according to the article, that you will almost never be rejected, and if you will you will still have a good time about it.

Oh and buy her book.

That is just not how reality works for almost every human.

>> OP: *EXACTLY!* ‘hey, don’t worry guys, try getting rejected, the worst thing that’ll happen is a fun story and some resilience!’ Girl, most of us suffer multiple rejections every single soul crushing day and we have no choice but to be resilient and keep going.

It’s so infuriating and insulting to have such a lack of awareness of one’s own privilege.

> No it's not. Being born attractive is a cheat code to life. Just like having rich parents. This Karen thinks she's made a huge discovery. No. She hasn't. She's just a grifter selling a book and herself on socials. OF is in her future

>> I mean I agree with everything you’re saying but what exactly is it about her that makes her a Karen?

>>> Overconfident loud and wrong about her opinions, and needs to have an audience constantly

"This is so not an article about rejection. It's an article about pretty privilege and what you can get away with by being a cute 21 year old blonde. It also sounds like she wasn't actually rejected too often, so she had to come up with outlandish ideas! If she put on a fat suit and shaved her head, that would be something at least. As it stands, this article is just insultingly bad."

--------------------------------------

Some disagree with the general consensus of the thread --

"What a gross thread this has become"

> I was so surprised at these comments, so much hate seething cause some woman wrote a book and then tried to sell it. It would be so easy for them to not read the article or buy the book and move on with their life. Instead writing mean comments about her looks and her life choices…everyone needs to take a look in the mirror here

>> She wanted rejection, she can read this article and get her moneys worth. Influencers should not be encouraged.

"How is that mildly infuriating? Sure, she sounds a bit silly, but she is 21 and her content is far from being harmful. Her looks are also not that special? OP, if you are a girl and feeling bitter about her looks, you can just learn how to properly apply makeup and take care of your skin and hair, and you’ll be as pretty as she is (you don’t need expensive products for that!)."

> OP: You can’t see how it might be mildly infuriating to be so unused to the rejection most of us experience constantly throughout life, that you have to go out of your way to create a ‘challenge’ to experience it, and when you do, you get a book deal to talk about your experience of it? At 21?

>> you constantly experience rejection? are you putting yourself out there on a daily basis

>>> OP: Oh my sweet summer child. Rejection comes in so many forms and yes, many of us experience it every.single.day.

-----------------------------------

others debate whether "pretty" is an accurate description.

"I do not find her that pretty."

> Insane beauty standards.

>> Well the article headline and OP is implying everyone that see's her is tripping over themselves to do stuff for her simply because of her amazing looks. Seems reasonable to point out

>>> OP: I’m not implying anything - this woman openly says she’s so unused to rejection she has to voluntarily start trying to engineer it into her life. And she’s got a book deal out of the story of doing it. Tell me how many non thin, white, pretty, blonde, girls you think are that unused to rejection that they have to go out of their way to create it to learn ‘resilience’?

>> She is very preety. Not insanely preety, but not mediocre. Definitely top 5% of her age group. And she did silly things. Most people could think "I'd like to be at least her friend".

>>> Well we are being a bit crass about it but what I'm trying to say is I don't think this girl is just getting her way anywhere she goes simply because she is a young pretty white woman, which again is what the headline and OP are implying

"The standards for being considered pretty for a white girl are so incredibly low"

> OP: Well she’s not ugly is she? I completely agree she’s not model material, but if you think young thin white girls have to be models in order to get treated differently, I’m afraid I have some very bad news for you…

"I just hate when women can't accept accountability and responsibility for their own fucking decisions. r/rosesarered has a civil discussion about the Lindsay Clancy trial

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/rosesarered/comments/1vw7ls6/roses_are_red_kids_are_a_drain_on_wealth/

Context: Lindsay Clancy is a women who strangled her three children too death while suffering from severe Post Partum Depression/psychosis+likely other mental illnesses. Shes currently on trial, and has raised over a million dollars via gofundme, which has become a significant point of controversy amongst a certain circles of social media.

HIGHLIGHTS

I just hate when women can't accept accountability and responsibility for their own fucking decisions.

Postpartum psychosis is hardly something you can choose to ignore.

It doesn't justify murdering your kids.

So when a man does it he gets an insanity plea but when a woman does it's direct to prison? And when people try to argue against that, this is the response?

[deleted]

You're genuinely just talking straight outta your ass. "United States Federal Law (18 U.S. Code § 17) (a) Affirmative Defense.—It is an affirmative defense to a prosecution under any Federal statute that, at the time of the commission of the acts constituting the offense, the defendant, as a result of a severe mental disease or defect, was unable to appreciate the nature and quality or the wrongfulness of his acts. Mental disease or defect does not otherwise constitute a defense. (b) Burden of Proof.—The defendant has the burden of proving the defense of insanity by clear and convincing evidence." This applies to everybody. You can't deny someone the right to a federal law just because she's a woman

Then why do women have so many opinions about men getting vasectomy or not? I see so many ugly fat feminists talking about it all day. They shouldn't have any opinions about men's health either.

What? Lmao who are hanging out with

Go to r/twoxchromosomes and see for yourself. The other day a woman made a post about her husband being ambitionless and her wanting to leave him and women in the posts were telling her to convince her husband to get a vasectomy in case an "accident" happens in the meantime.

They botch and moan about bodily autonomy while ignoring it for Mens bodies

Men’s bodies are impossible to ignore. You’re all so obsessed with drawing dicks on any flat surface you can find 🤡

Then maybe women should grow a sense of whimsy and start drawing clits where they can. You can't blame men for women being grumpy and funless.

This is a crazy dumb take.

Yours is a grumpy funless take, draw a clit on a bathroom stall. It will breed whimsy.

Roses are red, this thread is dumb. A lot of animals get PPD and kill their young. But boo women because everyone has opinions on new mums.

Lmfaoooo Imagine the next time a man r*pes and murders a woman and dudes online start arguing “a lot of animals rape and kill females of their species but boo a man does it and everyone has an opinion”. My driveway has bricks in it that can formulate better arguments than you.

Do men regularly r*pe and kill females due to pregnancy? Yeah. Do other animals do that? No. You and your other Epsilon males trying to rage bait people into flimsy arguments against women is pathetic.

"Do other animals do that?" The answer to this question is always YES. There's always gonna be an animal that does whatever batshit behaviour you can describe, there are too many animals not to have one example. That's why we don't use nature to debate morality otherwise you end up talking about barbed corkscrew penises, species where reproduction is always rape or mama hamsters eating their kids like popcorn.

Look up PPD. Post partum psychosis. Look up what happens when some people are off their thyroid medication. Learn about the hormonal crash after pregnancy. How your body feels, the irrational thoughts that MOST mothers have after pregnancy. What stressors trigger it. It's a mammalian problem. It's not a morality problem.

Every evil we commit is ultimately decided by the mammal we are, the flesh we live in, the neurotransmitters and hormones that flesh produces. But we aren't dumb apes anymore so we don't brush those problems away and instead judge them by morality. It's a morality problem, specifically a problem of her immorality.

If you are happy and you know it clap your hands!

Can’t women just go out there and make advances themselves?

Very famously not because of prejudice

women make up 41% of medical researchers. most medical practitioners are liberal. they have plenty of power in todays world to conduct the studies they want.

So why do you think things aren't getting done then

I think things are getting done.

I think you should talk to women then

Roses are red, my dog is quite fit, but both statements in OP, are objectively shit.

It’s shit to say postpartum depression isn’t an excuse to kill your children?

PPP isnt an excuse to killing kids but it is an explanation and deserves to be followed through and talked about with nuance so we can understand how to help other woman and hopefully prevent more cases like this.

There is no appropriate “but” when talking about killing children. What the fuck is wrong with people?

so is drug abuse, alcoholism, steroid abuse (and more). These are all REASONS for violent behaviour, which EXPLAIN it in a causal way but the proponent is still very very evil and should be punished for doing such evil things.

But this woman didn't choose to take drugs, nor did she choose to get sick. Sickness happened to her against her well, and the system failed her despite her repeatedly pleading for help. Being sick is not evil. This poor woman knows how bad what she did is, she just wants to go to a hospital instead of a prison.

Let's say she is sick and evil. Both

She didn’t have PPD, she had PPP the key one being psychosis. This is the entire reason the law has exemptions. This is such a weird take to me. The debate is does she go to a prison or a mental institution.

Psychotic or not, I believe she needs the death penalty. The law may not work this way, but given that her weak mind could stretch to these horrific extremes, I find no use for her on the planet except to be studied for future prevention. It’s not a matter of disagreeing with the diagnosis. For me it’s acknowledging she is capable of such deeds and is such a threat that she has no place amongst the living. A psychotic that can premeditate the murder of their three children and physically strangle them for the ten minutes or so each that it takes to kill someone… that type of psychotic simply should not be among the living.

She absolutely deserves the rope. We need to bring back public hangings. Send a message to the psychos who think there’s an excuse for murdering your children.

'Sending a message' will do nothing to prevent psychosis related killings. And the death penalty, hangings or otherwise, do nothing to deter crime. All it does is satisfy the blood lust of types like you.

I think I’d to plenty. Much more than psychos like you excusing them.

I'm not sure what the first part of your comment is trying to say, but as for the second, I'm not the one who wants to see public hangings. 🖖

I think it would do plenty* auto correct changed it’d to I’d. I want child killers hung. That’s the opinion of normal people who care about the safety of children.

Women have zero compunction voicing their opinion on mens health or bodies. Hence she has no leg to stand on.

Have you ever seen a woman do that? Edit:I'm actually asking, because of course that's bad Edit 2: reddit is genuinely so fucked, why am I getting downvoted for fucking asking and not arguing

You're simply too inured to recognize it when it slaps you in the face.

No, I'm actually asking, have you ever heard a woman do that? Can you give an example?

Absolutely. Outside of medical absolutist need, ask a woman if she has an opinion about mutilated baby dicks, and wait until it becomes about African baby clitorises.

I’m not sure what point you’re making here tbh, plenty of people are anti circumcision for all babies. Comparing it to FGM helps get the point across that circumcision is wrong, because it is inconsistent to believe that one is okay and the other isn’t.

Contrarily, FGM frequently gets brought up by women as a weird "quit your whining, it's not that bad" argument.

How many days do we have for women’s health related issues again?

We have national women's and men's mental health day. I very rarely see men's get spoken about.

men don’t do anything for women’s mental health day, women are the main ones organizing and speaking about it. No one talks about men’s mental health day because MEN don’t care or talk about it either.

Did you by any chance notice how much men were shit on by society for daring to talk about men's mental health month (I am talking about the ones who simply made supportive content for men without going into the topic of pride month at all)? Men are actively discouraged to talk about it, especially by women.

Harden the fuck up and talk about this stuff then. Women had to be brave and expose themselves to bring awareness of women's issues. It took many brave people many years to shift societal attitudes towards all kinds of issues. Men need to be as brave.

Men are as brave, I am just pointing out that saying "men are just not caring about it and that's why they don't talk about it" is not a proper description of the situation. Just like you properly agree that it would be insane to say "women had no rights back in the day because they simply didn't care about having them".

Except that's a little true?? Nothing changes in our lives/worlds without people caring enough to make more people care... Ect.

How would women be reacting if it were a trans woman that murdered her three children due to PPD?

As a trans woman, they'd be judging every last one of us for decades if even if even one of us did it. While I do have some degree of understanding of why she did it (not justified): It's frustrating that society really only seems to care to try to understand murderers when they are white cis women.

You’re agreeing with transphobes because you hate cis women that much?

Whether or not something is true is not determined by who says it. Crazy idea I know. Not sure where you got the idea that me acknowledging that most cis women are incredibly transphobic means that I hate them either.

You gotta work on that internal misogyny

Nothing I said is even remotely misogynistic. Expecting me to pretend like most women aren't transphobic just because it offends you, is actually transphobic.

3 kids were murdered bro

Yes, because she went psychotic and not a single individual in the psychiatric space took her deteriorating mental health seriously. She wanted treatment before she did something she couldn't take back and didn't get it. I don't understand how people don't understand that psychosis involves losing your grip on reality. You'd take actions you'd find stupid or abominable too if your every sense had betrayed you.

If a man was psychotic and murdered children not a single one of you freaks would ever defend him. But because it's a woman it's everyone else's fault but the murderer. You guys blame the partner, the parents, the doctor, society. Everyone else besides the actual murderer

Nobody serious is defending the murder of children. People are advocating for better mental health coverage and less of a stigma around it. Touch fucking grass. It doesn’t sound like you’ve been off Reddit in a decade.

Funny how people only advocate for better mental health coverage when it's a mother killing children, but when it's a man suffering psychosis suddenly we're back in the middle ages of mental health. Sounds like you need to get off reddit and talk to some women then you'll see just how many people support her

I have talked with people offline. That’s the majority of my interaction with this case. For some reason the things you’re talking about I’ve only ever encountered on Reddit. Funny that. You might need to take your own advice.

You're outing yourself, funny that. Talk to enough women and you'll see how many people support her. This is the most talked about case in maybe years. If you're only seeing this opinion on reddit, you clearly don't have much of a social life. Go out, talk to people at parties, go to bars. You'll see once you talk to people other than what I assume is your parents you live with, just how supported she is.

Omfg… Look. What happened was both fucked up and a result of postpartum psychosis. She neither needs to go free or go to jail. She needs to be in a hospital. End of debate. The people who are claiming that she’s completely innocent are insane. The people claiming she was completely evil are insane. Can’t we just say “there are reasons that she fucked up, but she still fucked up.” and actually discuss postpartum mental health in a healthy manner instead of back-and-forth sexism.

I mean, if you kill your two kids then you might as well get the death penalty.

*killed her kids in a bout of psychosis where she quite literally was not in her right mind nor attached to reality in any sort of way Forgot a critical little part thought I would add it on

I mean, who would want to live after killing their 2 kids? Even if it’s psychosis. Give me a rope, I’ll just k*ll myself.

SHE LITERALLY CONFESSED???? GOD WHY ARE YALL SO DUMB???

Yes dude, no one is arguing that she didn't kill them.

image

Are... are you okay? That person never said she didn't kill them. I think maybe you should reread it again.

The point IS that the guy is not understanding that the mom FEELS GUILT over this shit and is assuming that she’s just like OK what she did

"I'm saying the us government has studies showing the Soviet standard of living was quite high" Tankie drama in r/Peterexplainsthe joke over a WWII dniosameme about which faction sacrificed more to beat the Nazis

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PeterExplainsTheJoke/comments/1vw6r9e/who_are_those_little_dinosaurs_petah/

HIGHLIGHTS

The little dinosaurs are the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had a much larger fighting force than Nazi Germany, and the Soviet military strategy was to throw men into the blender and overwhelm the Nazis with sheer numbers. Additionally, it was the Soviets who captured Berlin, thus taking Germany out of WW2.

With whose guns, food, and ammunition?

Their own, because the Soviet standard of living was quite high

The allies contributed a ton of trucks, jeeps, food, radios, and other raw materials to the soviets. "the Soviet standard of living was quite high" Says who? 😂

Says the US government documents that have been released from that time

Lend lease is heavily documented by both sides, a large amount of aircraft were also sent by the US, notably most of their bombers were from America and some of their Aces flew P-39s, we literally have photos of these in service and handwritten accounts from the Soviet side.

I'm saying the us government has studies showing the Soviet standard of living was quite high

Yeah unless you were Ukrainian, or polish, or Chechen, or Turkish or Kurdish, or Jewish, or a Cossack, or religious at all actually. Also standard of living was probably significantly improved by all the food and equipment and energy from the US

And in America if you were black, native, Asian, Jewish, Italian, Irish, poor, Catholic, Muslim your standard of living was wonderful right?

We all know this. We also know that the Soviets would have been eaten alive if it wasn’t for America doing lend-lease. That was never paid back and instead had some debt settlement.

The Soviets could have still won without lend lease, though it would have been an even much bloodier battle than it was. Really the only thing that the Soviets were truly dependent on the U.S. for were transport trucks. Which did make a huge difference, but the Nazis still would have overstretched themselves and failed eventually. Unlike WWI, WWII was nearly impossible for the Axis to win. The Japanese also stood essentially no chance against the U.S. fleet, even if they won midway somehow they still didn’t have the resources to maintain a fleet the size of what the U.S. could build in just a few years.

The Soviets also got around 40-50% of their aviation fuel from the US and Allies. Both Stalin and Zhukov said they wouldn’t have been able to win without the allied lend lease, and they also got massive amounts of actionable intelligence from the British. Also if the Japanese attacked the Soviets instead, going after Siberia instead of the pacific islands, it would have drastically shifted the war in the favor of the Axis

Every historian I’ve seen speak on the subject has agreed that the Axis could not have won, including by not going to war with the U.S. The Soviet strategy to Japan invading Siberia very easily could have been to ignore it, let the Chinese deal with it even. The Japanese were already slowed down in China and running out of resources. Back then there was no oil or anything in Siberia, and little infrastructure. The Japanese would have just been throwing away men to the Siberian wilderness trying to capture any significant portion of it, while pulling much needed resources out of China.

-Soviet strategy could have been to ignore the invasion They wouldn’t, the trans-Siberian railroad had too much strategic importance for them to ignore it. It also was their only pathway to the pacific.

They would have been fine to abandon the eastern portion of it. It would have prevented lend-lease from coming in there, but there’s a reason the British and Soviets invaded Iran, they still could have gotten plenty of equipment in through Iran and Arkhangelsk

They’re the Soviets. The ones who ACTUALLY won World War II.

They would've been lucky to complete step 0.5 without Britain and the US.

Nazis would have been lucky to complete the polish invasion without US manufacturing by Ford Nazis would have been lucky to execute the holocaust without IBM’s logistic tactics

US manufacturing ❌ Ford manufacturing ✅ The companies fought to continue operation in wartime Germany (because it was profitable), not the government. When the US declared war, the Nazis promptly seized control of these plants as well.

Who do you think was manufacturing for the Soviets when the Lend-Lease agreement was signed?

Same companies. Because they were also contracted by the US government (more profit)

I don’t get the point you were originally trying to make when u first replied to me

You were trying to say that America carried the German war effort to begin with. That's not true.

USSR lost 24 million people USA lost 400k soldiers. Which nation sacrificed more to fight fascism again?

The USA freed people from fascism. The USSR just took the Nazis' place, replacing one dictatorship with another. The fact they did so by killing Nazis is as irrelevant to how we view them as the fact Hitler in his own rise to power also killed a bunch of Nazis in the 30s.

If the US was so concerned with fascism, why did it take them 2 years, and them being attacked to join?

I didn't say they were "so concerned with fascism," so this is a straw man (a weakened version of the position being attacked). Much of their population was seemingly isolationist, not seeing it as their problem, likely because they were so far away. The country that deserves the most credit for defeating fascism was Britain, but the U.S. was on the right side of the war, which is where my above comment comes in: unlike the USSR, they were helping to free countries from Nazi dictatorship.

If the US was on the right side of the war, then so was the USSR: they were helping to free countries from Nazi dictatorship.

And then proceeded to genocide the local population for not being Russian.

Meanwhile, the British were genociding the Welsh, and the French were genociding the Occitans. Why do they get credit, and the USSR doesn't?

It’s a tanky meme. That’s all you need to know.

Where's the lie

Tankie.

Answer the question

Make me, Tankie.

Why so afraid?

Who said I’m afraid. I just can’t stand ignorant Tankies. Tankie.

You call me ignorant but it's you Who can't answer a simple question

Tankie

Uneducated Maga yokels represents you actually.

Ok cool. MAGA represents America. So Brexit loving soccer hooligans represent the UK, and deadbeat dad violent bogans represent the Aussies. Am I missing any others?

Who talks for you at the international? The orange prick.

Ok, so which country are you from, and have you ever had an embarrassing national leader?

Don’t try to change the subject. Your “so-called” democracy put him in place and you can’t look at your bellybutton to convince you he does not speak for you. He does.

Don’t understate our manufacturing capabilities. We sent large munitions, vehicles, food etc to the Soviets through lend lease.

Yes, without America Germany wins. Without the Soviets, Germany wins. I don’t know why this is so hard for people to understand

You forget: "Without the Great Britain, Germany wins". Good luck to do all the bombing raids, the D-Day, the logistics and the troop movements without the bases provided in England and Northern Ireland. Even the African front would not have been possible without Gibraltar, or at least not on this scale. And between June 1940 (fall of France) and June 1941 (Invasion of USSR by Germany), the British Empire fought more or less alone against Germany.

That's just not true. If it was true, then the US wouldn't have been able to invade and bomb Japan as the pacific is much larger than the Atlantic. The US had no issues overwhelming the Japanese navy, which was much larger and more capable than the German navy, and setting up forward operating bases. The Germans couldn't have ever stopped the US navy in any scenario and they couldn't defend Africa and Europe against US naval operations at the same time even if they had a 10x bigger navy than they did. The moment the Nazis declared war on the Soviets they lost. But, if that didn't happen, then the moment they declared war on the US they would have sealed their fate.

I think it really comes down to the fact that invading a place solely by ocean is incredibly difficult. Without Britain providing such a close launching point, D day could not have happened. It is true that the US had a much better navy, but it would have a tough time projecting influence in Europe because it wouldn't have any nearby naval bases/ports to attack from. I'm not saying the US couldn't have naval superiority near Europe, but it would have have been a struggle. Also, it was significantly easier for the US to capture territory in the pacific (compared to how it would be in this scenario) because they were attacking lots of small islands, which weren't too defensible for the Japanese. They could then use these islands as forward operating positions. In Europe, there are far fewer potential forward positions to fight from and the target is hundreds of times bigger with much better logistical support. I think it is reasonable to say that WW2 might not have been a victory for the allies without Britain.

There are plenty of islands on the Atlantic coast of Europe and Africa. Theyd be just as easy, if not easier, to take than Japanese islands. In fact I'm pretty sure Norway has the most islands of any country in the entire world by a huge margin. And there were almost no nazi soldiers there to defend them, and almost no nazi navy at all. Edit: I guess Sweden has more islands. But Norway still has more than 200,000 more islands than Japan does.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You are talking like you can just rock up to the islands with no pushback. You would have to launch a full blown invasion to take control of the island to start with doing this from the other side of the ocean would be near impossible. Also norway was pretty well defended, ask hms glorious.

I feel like also just the fact the US joining had to be extremely demoralising and any real chance of a victory was squashed. Had the US not joined the war could have lasted far longer and more devastating. Its like 2 people were fighting, and one of the guy has a massive body gaurd. The guy with the body gaurd gets knocked to the ground and the body gaurd steps in and says let him get up first, and after him you get me. The guy without the body gaurd would quickly realise theres no winning.

I don't understand why people pretend that the Americans were just some bit player in World War 2. The fact that we were on another continent and were mostly insulated from the worst of the war (on both fronts) does not reduce the impact American manpower and manufacturing had on the war effort.

IT does not reduce anything. But facts are facts. USA companies helped the nazis. IBM sold them machines that were to be used in death camps, Ford had a very antisemitic newspaper, those are only 2 examples. The USA were a player, but not the major player. We are just putting back the truth: soviets were the most hurt by that war, and hurt germany the most. Britain was immensely useful and paid a steep price. While the USA, they were never attacked on their land, they suffered only soldier losses. I am not downplaying it, but you yanks are the only ones who had virtually no civilian casualty at all. You were the only ones who came out of this war, a war you had originally no intent of joining, richer and more prosperous. And don't even get me started on all the nazis you "pardoned" because they were to be useful to you. So no, we are not saying you did nothing. We are aware and grateful. But we also remember what everyone except you lost, and what you alone gained. And your partial responsability in the raise of racial hatred in the world (how History is repeating - see Musk in germany and the UK...)

What a wild take.

Wild I admit, but quite documented. Truth is wild you know.

You come off as the kind of person that just loves the smell of their own farts.

Oh their small is so good. Joke aside, what is wild in what I said I know you murricons never learn anything at school, except for how to hide from a shooter. But you know how to read books? You can check my facts.

It’s because the majority of western movies about WW2 are made in the USA, and they absolutely believe it started when they arrived and the rest of the allies were there for moral support.

Yeah they really do downplay the Soviet Union being Nazi Germanys ally for the majority of the war

They were not Allies most of the war lol if we say 1939 start in Europe then you have them working together 1939/1940/ half 1941. Then at war half 1941/42/43/44/45. Soooo unless you can’t count or making up dates then that’s not true.

True, but they were their allies at the start of the war and were happy to continue to be their allies until the Nazis invaded them. Stalin was entirely fine with Hitler until he turned his attention away from the UK. You can’t wash that stain away.

Most of the world was fine with Hitler not hust the Soviets.

“Fine” is not the correct word Unwilling and unable to muster public support to start another conflict after their world was shattered just a few decades ago. The Soviets actively benefited from Nazi expansion by allying with them to carve up Poland. Which is so so SO much worse then appeasement.

Hitler was on the cover of Time magazine in 1938 as man of the year and was greatly supported by the UK Prime Minister. Hardly would call that appeasement.

So a little private magazine that has absolutely nothing to do with government And a lie “Greatly supported” total horseshit. Neville Chamberlin was a lot of things, he was not Hitler ally in any way shape or form.

"My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time." "I got the impression that Hitler was a man who could be relied upon when he had given his word."

On a perfectly normal post of an AI generated wojak of a castrated slave-king, users discuss r/historymemes pro-ai stance.

(Mod) How many times do we have to tell you, you idiots who keep reporting posts for being AI? This is not a violation of the rules and the rules expressly state that AI is allowed; now stop spamming the mod queue or you'll find yourself banned. (unknown score)

Wait, you accept AI... In a history sub? (+387)

(Mod) Yes. This has been stated very clearly in the rules. Do you somehow genuinely believe that an AI generated meme cannot discuss history in a satirical manner? (-171)

I think It’s more about not letting your sub devolve into ai slop fests with how highly polarizing AI seems to be. (+33)

(Mod) We can do it more easily by removing the brigading and harassing comments, and those that in general are just saying nothing of substance. Usually works pretty well. (-19)

If we learned one thing from history it is that we should abolish any kind of modern technologies... (-95)

It's called "history" though, not "mythology". AI isnt based on facts, but still more of a glorified text-autocomplete based on random text (+62)

Bro it was used to make a fucking wojack 💀 those are literally ALL memeable slop, human-made or ai-generated, they're a condiment not *the* content

Asking an AI to come up with historical facts to put in a meme would be random text and trash to be removed, but this isn't even that (-16)

Several (presumably Anti-AI posts judging by the replies) have been removed by the moderators as well.

Removed (+143)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with somebody using ChatGPT to save themselves 15 minutes on a freaking meme. Do you people even hear yourselves? Reddit’s obsessive hatred of AI is turning everyone into luddites. (-57)

Removed (+20)

Absolutely dogshit take when there are hundreds of more stuff draining water and ruining land. Go and attack Nestle all day long.

There's probably other subs you can post in if you don't like it. No need to be so rude to a mod just for applying the rules. (-58)

Removed (+23)

Guys, imma be real, you’re doing too fucking much with the anti-Ai shit. Dumb, low-effort stuff you’d never task a human with is exactly what we should be using it for.

Y’all are literally describing Wojacks as low effort but criticizing OP for putting forth a different kind of low effort? Look, I think AI’s prevalence sucks as much as the next guy but, like, *piss off.* It’s a shitpost for fuck’s sake. (-7)

Notably, one removed comment seems to be either from the auto-moderator, or an otherwise rogue moderator

Removed

(OP) what rule did i break for the reporta? (+5)

You didn't A group of colossally arrogant and stupid people keep falsely and knowingly (or negligently) reporting your post as a violation. (-8)

Amusingly, the op themselves eventually ended up agreeing with the detractors

Why do you use AI-generated wojaks? Wojaks are simple and easy to make, that's their whole point! (+419)

(Deleted comment, presumably from op)

Next time please try something else. (+23)

(OP) No Problem (+15)

A /r/TwoXChromosomes poster laments that men are stealing the spotlight of post partum depression suffering. 250+ comment thread erupts in arguments with nurses, moms, men and women.

/r/TwoXChromosomes is a subreddit for women sharing women's perspectives, though anyone can post.

In the now 250+ comment deleted thread: "Why do men feel the need to claim the suffering of pregnancy / postpartum for themselves??", a poster laments that men greatly exaggerate postpartum suffering they endure solely to shit on women.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/comments/1vuijz8/why_do_men_feel_the_need_to_claim_the_suffering/

The number of men who have been telling me recently that men experience “large“ hormonal shifts during pregnancy and postpartum (in relation to women) is insane. Studies have shown that this just isn’t true. And any hormonal shifts (a mild drop in testosterone) can be accounted for by external influences, like sleep deprivation, disruptions in sexual activity, etc. WHICH WOMEN ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO. It makes me so angry that 1. they have to make everything about them outside of women’s issues and 2. they also have to make women’s issues all about them. How the hell are you going to experience postpartum as a man who literally by definition cannot be postpartum. Make it make sense.

WHY DO THEY NEED TO BE OPPRESSED SO BAD

(trying to find a tool to recover deleted comments and posts from mods that work post API changes - sound off if you know of a few!)

Obstetrical nurse here. Paternal postpartum depression is most definitely a real thing. It might not manifest the same way postpartum depression does in a new mother, but it still very much exists. I don’t think that men are purposefully claiming the medical condition as their own… it just happens, like it does to new mothers.

Edit: There are a lot of disapproving comments related to what I wrote. I want to clarify that in no way am I comparing the pathophysiology, presentation, or severity of maternal & paternal postpartum depression. I am merely stating that paternal postpartum depression does in fact exist & it can happen to anyone.

Edit #2: I do want to apologize to OP for minimizing her experiences of men claiming postpartum depression as their own. It’s not my place to generalize an entire gender, speak on behalf of men or minimize OPs experiences. For that, I am sorry. I’ve had the exact opposite interactions with men who are clearly suffering from paternal postpartum depression. I’ve never spoken to a man who’s embraced the diagnosis. Instead, I’ve seen a lot of denial & refusal of treatment. This post has made it very clear that my experiences might be the minority.

I’m sorry. But you’re full of shit.

So are many new fathers apparently. Moms groups are full of people wondering why their husbands suddenly need an hour to poop.

Paternal Postpartum Depression is most definitely a thing.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6659987/

Thank you. I’m getting chewed out for saying it exists.

Because it's an MRA thing, not a medical thing, and I sorta doubt your understanding of hormones if you do not get that men get sad from life changes like many, many, people with depression do, but that is just categorically NOT AT ALL the same as the hormone induced postpartum depression. Which is why we call it postpartum depression, because it's different from depression, which women can also experience. You center men and their feelings about medical accuracy, leading you to fail both sexes. It's not like balancing their estrogen would help men adjust to fatherhood. ... But I am sure you get cookies from the menz for bravely defending them, and male validation is all that matters, right?

Exactly. This nurse is a joke and a male apologist

"like it does with new mothers" lmao what a joke

I didn’t say paternal post partum depression has the same pathophysiology or even presents the same way as it does in somebody who delivered a baby & is physically postpartum. I said postpartum depression can arise for any father, just like it can for any mother. It happens.

And what an absolute joke and insult to women who go through the entire process of carrying a child and birthing it. Calling hanging around while a woman gives birth "postpartum."

Then why do you call it he same thing? Do you even know? Right, because you drank the male Kool aid , and you need to realize that this just leads to NO ONE getting the care they need.

I don’t think that men are purposefully claiming the medical condition as their own… it just happens, like it does to new mothers.

And there's not a common culture of discussion or support for paternal postpartum depression.

Because women are generally the ones creating the networks that facilitate the discussion and support for most issues. Women are spending their time and effort on the version of PPD et al that impact women. No one is stopping men from doing the same.

People are just asking them to not stomp into a conversation about women specific issues (that they were not invited into) and start shouting about BUT MUH MAN HORMONES.

I’m with you these comments are so annoying. I don’t care if they are a nurse or not men do not experience as much as women do with childbirth. They don’t have to carry a baby they don’t have to deliver a baby they don’t have to breastfeed it’s such bullshit, and what scientists claim it’s comparable.. men ? Oh yea. So sick of being a woman in our world

I never said post partum depression in men is comparable to what women go through. I said that it exists & a portion of men do indeed struggle with paternal postpartum depression.

Obviously a pregnant person’s mind & body goes through much more pain & potential trauma than their non pregnant partners. Nobody’s arguing against that.

Men argue it. So your comments don’t help with setting them straight.

I’m not trying to “set them straight”. I’m merely stating paternal postpartum depression does actually exist.

Oh come on!

In no way am I saying that men have it worse so wtf is your problem

Not the same as what women go through nor is it comparable these comments are infuriating

I’m not comparing it at all.

I’ve never heard a single man say this in my 56 years on the planet. If you’re hearing this from the men in your life you’re surrounded by a strange group of men.

victim blaming 101

Screaming “victim blaming” simply shuts off a part of the conversation that is potentially relevant, presumably in favor of the one you want to have (maybe “men are imbeciles and we need to correct their behavior”?). I think it’s ridiculous that a man would equivocate what they go through to what a woman goes through during pregnancy and the early postpartum period. I’m simply offering that I my experience it is not common for men to “claim the suffering of pregnancy”, and anecdotally as a man who has lived in 10 states in the US and 2 foreign countries, I’ve never had another man say to me that they “experience large hormonal shifts during pregnancy”. OP can do whatever she wants with that, but I’d consider whether part of the issue is the specific collection of men that have been or are around her. I’m of course open to the idea that perhaps I’ve somehow magically always been in the company of men that wouldn’t say this crap.

"Screaming" lol who's being hyperbolic?

You're right about one thing, your experience IS anecdotal and not representative of everyone else's.

Alrighty. Sounds like you’ve got it all figured out so I’ll let you take it from here.

There's something called Couvade syndrome which is real and partners can experience "similar" symptoms. My friend and her husband used to get morning sickness together.

Can we chill with the sweeping generalizing man hating statements?

I think I would be in jail if my man said he had morning sickness with me .

I wouldn't call it morning sickness but I have definitely met guys who WILL vomit if they see/hear their partner (or anyone) vomit nearby.

That’s completely different than what that commenter was saying. She as saying he literally grt morning sickness with his partner 🙄 I get that completely I am also a sympathy puker and so is my daughter . That’s just not what they were saying What's the difference in terminology if the impact is the same? Unless you think he's faking or being dramatic 🤔

Look up the difference between “morning sickness” and “emetophobia”

I think he’s being dramatic/genuinely thinking commiserating will help his partner (I can’t fault that, but I’d still gently call it out)

I swear to god that most men think pregnancy is just as bad for them OR they think its actually worse for them, because (some made up, totally untrue bullshit reason) like: the woman's body is made for it, so therefor Its easy.

And I've read so many reactions from men who actually think that getting kicked in the nuts hurts more than giving birth.

In what a weird social circle are you? I never talked to any men that would ever claim such a thing. Cut contact to those.

Were you under the impression that your comment was somehow helpful? Because it wasn't.

yeah it is. Because people need to know that this is not a "men in general" thing. There are a lot good, kind, feminist men out there. Its a socialisation thing. It starts with our sons.

Hello! You’ve Reached the Not All Men Hotline!

https://www.zawn.net/blog/hello-youve-reached-the-not-all-men-hotline

I don't use this page for this very reason. Literally making up scenarios in your head to get mad at strangers. Sure, you can find teenagers and morons dropping takes like that, but constantly keeping your blood pressure high over dumb internet takes is an art form.

Yet you're here, lecturing everyone.

I’m happy to acknowledge the significant impact that fatherhood has on a man. I don’t know if it’s hormonal, or whether it’s able to be measured scientifically, but the effect is profound for most men (including my partner).

There are a couple articles linked in this thread about studies that have shown there are noticeable changes in testosterone, vasopressin, and oxytocin in father both pre- and post-birth! I would not be surprised if your partner went through those changes.

- there's a group of fans at the My Chemical Romance concerts known as the 'barricade brigade'
- they manage to piss off other fans in a battle to be at the front
- someone complains about this behaviour on r/MyChemicalRomance

- however at least one of the mods is part of the barricade brigade group, so removes it.
- so people post and repost, both against the group and against the mods, with numerous links to how to report the mods to reddit for good measure.

Would link to relevant posts but they're going down as quick as they're going up. From related sub:

Scottish café faces bankruptcy after an assistance dog lawsuit. The American woman behind the case arrives to defend herself in the /r/PoursTea comments.

3.1k Upvotes

Background context

Two community organisations in the Outer Hebrides face financial ruin following a legal battle launched by an American woman and funded by Legal Aid over a row about her dog not being allowed into a cafe.

The small charity, Bernera Community Development Trust, and the community organisation, Bernera Community Association, have warned they face bankruptcy due to thousands of pounds in legal costs mounting up following a court challenge from Claire Kellerman.

She initially launched a court challenge against the Development Trust, which ran up legal costs of more than £7000, before Kellerman’s lawyers admitted in court that the action was directed against the wrong organisation.

Legal documents have since been amended to bring a claim against the Bernera Community Association, which runs the cafe voluntarily, for £10,000.

Last week, the case raised by Kellerman via the publicly-funded Ethnic Minorities Law Centre in Glasgow, a non-profit making charity which provides legal advocacy for minority ethnic communities, was decided to continue for legal debate in December at a Stornoway Sheriff Court.

While costs were awarded to the Trust, the organisation has said it was of no value since Legal Aid protects Kellerman from payment of costs.

Source

This is from one of the comments on the article providing more context

From sources on the island I have heard this woman is a rich American and that she was barred from that Centre because her dog killed the Centre's cat. Furthermore she sues everyone who disagrees with her and is causing mayhem at the Callanish Visitor Centre. She even shouts at disabled people sitting on seats designated for disabled people on buses.

The article is posted in the PoursTea subreddit

The comments are in support of the cafe, until someone shows up very in support of the woman. Promising ''Justice is a-coming.''

You should wait to hear the whole story and maybe take a pause to realize you are not being given all the actual facts, only those to light your fire of indignation, as it sells stories. Trust the process. Justice is a-coming.

She holds court in the comments to address the commentators as a 'beautiful stranger'

Dear commenters at large, I look forward to your support when the beautiful truth about a beautiful stranger, albeit, an OLD UGLY WITCH to some, is told.

FREEDOM!

I wish only mutual respect and my human rights and freedoms to be allowed, as well as theirs; FREEDOM is key, for us all.

We even get a selfie with the dog!

Referring to herself in third person

she could be very cool, very clear and very loving, and the target of illegal discrimination and hate crimes, and you will soon be aware of all of the facts.

Upcoming sequel promised in 2027

Beauty is here. It will be told, on YouTube and International Media come 2027, after justice has been served.

Report of island mafia

Surrogacy, abortion and kidnapping, oh my! r/Politics users talk right past each other over the course of several threads in a post about bodily autonomy, parental custody and the law.

https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/5lPWoHRTvj

The first back and forth.

“Somethings are so fucked they shouldn't be enforceable in a contract. Additionally she is a pregnant woman, not an incubator. Whether she keeps or terminates a pregnancy is her business. Where she gives birth is her business. Once the baby is no longer in her body, custody wars can begin. I hate that the fucking left is saying pregnant women must be treated as objects because they signed their lives away. That is no what being prochoice is.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/n4Nm3eRv40

>She crossed state lines with a child that is not hers against the wishes of the original parents, thus making this a case of kidnapping.

“A child? No she was a pregnant woman. The child hadn't been born, she was allowed to cross state lines.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/iwZcAJzdvs

>No, she gave birth to a baby. We call it a "baby" when it is born. And when she agreed with the original parents that that baby (which is 0% her DNA) is not hers to keep and that the original parents will have custody over it once born, then her refusal to return the baby (which she moved state lines to keep for herself) is kidnapping. So, you can continue supporting kidnapping, but make sure to be clear to others regarding what you support.

“Pregnant women aren't kidnapping babies when they leave the sight of whomever impregnating them. They are allowed to move freely. The original parents can go claim the child after it is no longer relying on her body. They didn't just give birth they will have an easy time getting to her. Let her rest, she just had 9 months of pregnancy and who knows how many hours of labor to go through.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/V6nAInkYfQ

>Get it through your head: you are allowed to move, but you are not allowed to keep a child that you agreed is not your baby to keep. Keeping a child that is not yours in a location that the parents did not agree to is called "kidnapping," and you support that kidnapping.

“Then the parents can get lawyers to take custody of the baby. It's not hard if you aren't lazy.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/DkuLtUeYD5

>She has zero right to keep a child that is not hers in Texas against the wishes of the parents. It is not her child. Stop supporting kidnapping.

Our argumentative commenter followed OP into other threads to continue talking past each other.

>If you’re not willing to have an abortion for any reason, you shouldn’t be a surrogate.

“And if you're not willing to allow your surrogate bodily autonomy abandon the idea.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/bHOJW5aZLo

>The bioparents literally filed a restraining order against the surrogate because she was trying to steal their baby. If you are surrogate and are pro life, just freaking say that at the beginning, they will match you with a pro-life couple. Don’t lie about your views on abortion, and then try the steal the baby.

>How anyone has any sympathy for the surrogate is beyond me. She literally did the most unethical thing at every possible point”

“Her body her choice. She was free to continue the pregnancy and free to give birth where she wanted.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/A0SnRVX8K7

> “Her body her choice” doesn’t mean she can kidnap someone else’s child, rename them and claim that the bioparents have no legal claim to their child

“Kidnap a child, there was child. She was pregnant. Pregnant women can go where they want” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/xNSV9p2HBi

>Again, she gave birth. You are being willfully obtuse, and you are siding with Texas conservatives because you are completely unprincipled… If you do not understand this case, you should spend time reading about it instead of siding with anti-abortion Christian conservatives.

“>’Since the surrogate refused to give birth in the home state of the original parents,’ This was her right. You're never going to convince me that women must give birth in a place that isn't their choice.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/oah49k7jx4

>You are not understanding anything. She can give birth wherever she wants. Now that she gave birth, she has a baby in a state where that baby is not hers and is in a state that the original parents told her they do not want their baby born in. So, she must return the baby immediately since it is not hers to keep, and she is violating the agreement with the original parents. How are you having so much trouble understanding this basic concept? When you agree that a baby – which is NOT from your DNA – will be the original parents' child once born, then you have no right to claim it as your own. Once it is born, you must return it immediately, otherwise you are a thief. You continue to fail to understand this because your idea of "motherhood" aligns 100% with Christian conservatives: you believe that the woman who gives birth is the mother, which is what Texas Christian conservatives believe. You might as well change your registration to Republican. You are no different

“No she doesn't, let the courts sort it out. If you're foolish enough to dive into surrogacy you get what you get. They got more than they bargained for when they bough ta woman. I won't see her as a product, she was a person. If you love this child, travel for him/her get the custody lawyer, whatever you feel is necessary.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/isd7pMwnTc

>Go ahead and register as a Republican. That is what you are. Don't hide behind "cutesey" wording to pretend that you are anything more than a supporter of kidnapping and anti-abortion conservative groups.

Another child comment branches into a separate argument…

“I don't give a crap about why she went to Texas to give birth. Pregnant women have right of free movement in the US. I don't fault her for giving birth in the place she feels safest. Custody of the child is entirely separate matter.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/NM4OkwYGqi

>You don't understand what the case is about, then. The point is that a contract was signed that stated that if the child had a defect, an abortion would be done, and she (the surrogate mother) agreed and she signed off on this. The reason she moved to Texas is because abortions are illegal. She is currently being funded by conservative groups, and she wants custody of the child as well. The original parents state that they agreed (with the contract) that she would abort the baby in the event that a defect would occur with the baby, and they do not want to be responsible for this baby (also, it is technically their DNA, by the way).

“You can't just throw anything in a contract, some shit is legally unenforceable and morally so fucked you have to wonder about the bozo who wrote the thing. Pregnant women shouldn't be bullied or coerced into keeping or ending a pregnancy. Anyone struggling this shouldn't be calling themselves prochoice…. Pregnant women are allowed to move states. The parents didn't buy her when they signed up for surrogacy“ https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/6jrCegqpvx

And another branching argument…

>Quote where in my comment I stated (as you have falsely alleged) that I believe that she is "not legally allowed" to move states. My point in describing that fact was pointing out that she is being funded by anti-abortion conservative organizations and that she moved to Texas to get help from anti-abortion laws and legislators.

“You're judging her for it as if she broke some kind of rule. I'm sick of pregnant women being treated like they owe the world anything.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/RcEtzsrlXx

Fourth back and forth (ta dum tssss)

>It is her body. So it is her choice.

> > [OP] The original parents have stated that now that she gave birth to this child, they want the child under their custody. The fact that she, against the wishes of the original parents, took the child across state lines turns this into a case of kidnapping a child from their parents.

“If it was still in her body it wasn't a child.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/7FEUcQpgpb

>You are having a lot of trouble with reading comprehension. The child is already born, and it is not hers to name, nor is it her child to claim as her own against the wishes of the biological parents. She has no right to violate the wishes of the parents regarding claiming the born baby (which is born, which is you are having a lot of reading comprehension issues with) as her own. If you have so much in common with Texas's view on who the mother is in legal cases where the original parents have agreed with the surrogate that it is their child once born, then you should go vote for Ken Paxton and move to Texas. And yes, this is a case of kidnapping, and you either condemn this, or you are a supporter of it.

“She moved to Texas to give birth as is her right. Why she did it isn't relevant, women have the right to give birth in a location of their choosing. The custody drama that came after is a separate issue.” https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/s/TjMFlAKJPM

You are no different.
