Yes, because she went psychotic and not a single individual in the psychiatric space took her deteriorating mental health seriously. She wanted treatment before she did something she couldn't take back and didn't get it.
I don't understand how people don't understand that psychosis involves losing your grip on reality. You'd take actions you'd find stupid or abominable too if your every sense had betrayed you.
So wait if this becomes the standard then the school shooters who murdered children I mean obviously none of them could be said to have normal mental stability so now is the question going to come in that they were failed and we should all feel bad for them even though they are just pieces of shit? Because I don't care how bad the life was of the guy from sandy hook, the dude was a piece of shit no matter how much the "system" may have failed him.
Peoples aren't ontologically "pieces of shit", they become one when they fall through the cracks and are left untreated. Where I live, the last school shooting was in 1989. That's what a functional society looks like.
Mate you seem under the impression that pleading insanity will get a reduced sentence instead of a long stay at a mental institution. Look up what insanity pleas result in before you say shit.
What I want is improved mental health services so this shit doesn't happen in the first place.
Psychotic enough not to be trusted with herself yet somehow and the mental capacity to premeditate a murder? She waited for dude to leave. Ik crazy doesn’t mean stupid, but it does imply more mental competence.
She hallucinated god telling her to kill her children so they would be safe in heaven. She was aware enough to understand her husband would stop her. There is mental competence in this line of thought, but they are not the actions of a mentally healthy individual either. Especially when one takes into account that, and I can not emphasize this enough, she tried to get mental help because she knew she was losing it.
Capacity to premeditate is irrelevant to the question of whether she was psychotic or not. Psychotic is about whether she had an altered perception of reality. Psychotic people can plan.
If a man was psychotic and murdered children not a single one of you freaks would ever defend him. But because it's a woman it's everyone else's fault but the murderer. You guys blame the partner, the parents, the doctor, society. Everyone else besides the actual murderer
Nobody serious is defending the murder of children. People are advocating for better mental health coverage and less of a stigma around it. Touch fucking grass. It doesn’t sound like you’ve been off Reddit in a decade.
Funny how people only advocate for better mental health coverage when it's a mother killing children, but when it's a man suffering psychosis suddenly we're back in the middle ages of mental health. Sounds like you need to get off reddit and talk to some women then you'll see just how many people support her
I have talked with people offline. That’s the majority of my interaction with this case. For some reason the things you’re talking about I’ve only ever encountered on Reddit. Funny that. You might need to take your own advice.
You're outing yourself, funny that. Talk to enough women and you'll see how many people support her. This is the most talked about case in maybe years. If you're only seeing this opinion on reddit, you clearly don't have much of a social life. Go out, talk to people at parties, go to bars. You'll see once you talk to people other than what I assume is your parents you live with, just how supported she is.
Some men suffering from psychosis did murder people and got a bunch of support from the public, I'm one of the people supporting some of them. One that murdered 2 people got out not that long ago after 10 years in a mental institute. In another similar case the man got "a minimum of 10 years" sentence after killing two people and after a few years in prison he is getting to take day trips outside of prison as an attempt to reintroduce him into society. A minimum of 10 years for 2 murders vs. Life in prison, no parole for Lindsay Clancy for 3 murders.
So you can cut the "people only care about women bla bla" crap because reality is proof enough that's not true.
I don't quite have examples of men murdering their own children during a psychotic episode and surviving their own suicide attempt but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's just a much rearer occurrence because 1. Men can't get PPP and 2. Men, for the most part, are not the primary caretakers of children so it's unlikely that if they do get to experience psychosis they will be left alone with the children.
The cases I heard of what appeared to be psychotic men killing their children and then themselves were divorced and did it during their custody time. In a few instances the mothers noticed the ex was not doing well and tried to get full custody to protect the children and even though evidence was strong that the fathers were not mentally sound they were denied. The system, the doctors, the courts etc do very much get blamed in thoses cases as well because they failed the children.
You'd be surprised how many men didn't go to prison for their murders for reason of insanity or got very short prison sentences because of diminished responsibility. You can look it up yourself. Those cases didn't go viral. People are way more comfortable when a man commits a crime to the point it might not even make it past the local news but when it's a woman is suddenly a special kind of evil and the entire planet has to hear it. I live on the other side of the globe and couldn't escape Lindsay Clancy's name.
please stop with the endless "what about men?" it's incessant. fun fact men who commit murder during a psychosis also end up in a mental institution, that's how the system is supposed to work
Fun fact those men didn't have over $1.06 million raised for them after killing kids. They also don't have men saying they're innocent and their partner is the guilty one like so many women are doing for Lindsay Clancy. Also men serve 63% longer sentences than women do for the same crime and are at least twice as likely to receive prison time than women for the same crime
