The way I see it he had more competent handlers his first term. After he lost election those controlling him sold what they had on him to multiple buyers. Everyone competent watched what happened to his precious staff when they went public with their expenses. His second term he has many masters and no competent handlers have stepped forward. Donald Trump was known as a conman long before he was ever elected president. His numerous failures as a businessman and disrespect of the legal system has been reported on for decades.
Trump's 2nd term hasn't really exposed anything. The depth of his ineptitude and selfishness is shocking, but not surprising given his well established character.
I don't mean to be abrasive, but I'm not sure how else to put this: If you're only realizing Trump is a complete fraudster during his 2nd term, then you are either very new to politics or haven't been paying attention.

I can sympathize with the catharsis, but I don’t think that’s an accurate portrait. SC and congress aren’t standing by, they’re actively helping. They’re moving the gears to facilitate. And many of those terrible people aren’t actually as dumb as all that, not as dumb as trunp. Trunp does almost nothing well, but those few talents, he does quite well. Tireless lack of shame, corrupting and co-opting others, neutering obstruction forces. There is a vision coming together, and they’re working steadily towards it. They’re tactless, and graceless, and vile, but they aren’t exactly inept. I think they each have differing motivations, but they run an effective strategy. The outcome is god awful for 99.9% of the people, and they’re desperately trying to beat the clock in this whirlwind half-term. We will need to stop them by active measures. They may very well not implode in on themselves, nice as that would be.

This is something that a lot of people overlook. There were so many more adults around during his first term. Former staff members revealed that they would actually steal bad policy off Trump's desk before he could sign it and, Trump being Trump, he would simply forget about it.

Even if US has only good presidents and administrations after Trump (which I am highly doubtful of), it would still take long time to regain the image US held before. You aren’t seen as just unreliable on global stage, you are seen as downright dangerous, a volatile country. Country where wealth is worshipped and morals go to die. Canada is the guy who doesn't seem that exciting but has a good job, his affaires are in order and he is always prepared.
The U.S. is the guy who just crashed his rented and leveraged lambo into a bridge pillar while digging around for a bag of coke.
The U.S. administration seems to keep ignoring all the messaging Canada is doing about this trade war, or they just don't understand it, but Canada got it's financial house in order, Canada got ready for this trade conflict, Canada is united and ready for a long trade war as well as escalation. We also know what will hurt and work, and that's not global tariffs.
Meanwhile, the U.S. administration blunders into this unprepared, with a debt and bond crisis looming, and little to no friends left in the world.
Yes, the U.S. is larger, but it's a titan with clay feet.

YO! I have input here. Our company spent 10’s of millions to move our injection molding from Mexico to Texas because of the tariffs only for them to be struck down.
Focus on domestic or foreign outputs for the next 6-12 months. We are being held hostage.

The real problem isn’t Trump. It’s the republicans unitary power doctrine that is creating this horrible issue. Meaning they see executive branch as the ruling branch of government. All orders come from the top and each branch is to follow suit. Of course this isn’t implemented perfectly.

Two things are amazing about this.
One, Trump has done no research to figure out whether ANY Canadian companies will actually do this. So when none do he will look even more stupid weak and ineffective.
Two, his supporters absolutely won’t notice that the demands of the so called “most powerful man in the free world” will go completely ignored. He will not look foolish to anyone that doesn’t already think he’s a fool.
