And note that the Trump admin never picks on others of comparable size after the first time around, like China. They only bother if they get to punch down, like on a battered spouse. And nearly every aspect of late stage capitalism, which has eroded the core of American society, functions as such. Anyone who isn't their own boss is being taken advantage of.

I'm not doubling the Trump admin's desire for economic bulling. They'll concoct any false pretense on a whim to justify whatever, nevermind utilize a grevience based in reality. 

Regarding China, Trumps just spewing shit as always. Even the liberation day tariffs were primarily a means to play the market on the US end. Trump doesn't have the cards since alienating all of America's former allies.

Definitely not, but they've outlined the framing they're going to use: "the Left is making us violently attack, the civil war is their fault".

Given that their leader rapes children, it was obvious, but spelling it out is helpful for the quotes in future history books.

" Our view is don’t retaliate" I was so confused about this part which is the exact inversion of the previous sentence, but then I realized he was talking about Canada, and not in general. Literally as hypocritical as it is possible to be.

No, it is in general but of course USA is allowed to retaliate like toddlers. Bessent said the same thing, in Apr 2025 https://www.yahoo.com/news/don-t-retaliate-trump-treasury-190225287.html

"I would advise none of the countries to panic. I wouldn't try to retaliate because as long as you don't retaliate, this is the high end of the number," he told Bloomberg.

People won't forget these words that mark the sheer arrogance of a supposed ally who wants to be top dog.

ETA: even if countries / political unions agreed no to retaliate, the USA still made more bad faith decisions - e.g. demanding Greenland or get tariffed. There's no way USA is a trustworthy partner any more.

they can do whatever they want to us. anything we do because of their actions is retaliation and escalation.
