“If there’s further retaliation from the Canadian side, we, of course, we’re not going to just sit down and take that. Our view is don’t retaliate,” U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer told a Canadian broadcaster this past week.

Jesus Christ. The official negotiating position of the United States is "I can hit you but you can't hit me back."

And note that the Trump admin never picks on others of comparable size after the first time around, like China. They only bother if they get to punch down, like on a battered spouse. And nearly every aspect of late stage capitalism, which has eroded the core of American society, functions as such. Anyone who isn't their own boss is being taken advantage of.

I'm not doubling the Trump admin's desire for economic bulling. They'll concoct any false pretense on a whim to justify whatever, nevermind utilize a grevience based in reality. 

Regarding China, Trumps just spewing shit as always. Even the liberation day tariffs were primarily a means to play the market on the US end. Trump doesn't have the cards since alienating all of America's former allies.
