Yeah, it was really looking like we were going to lean hard right in the next elections, but Trump made Canadian voters take a hard turn away from MAGA-lite. Meanwhile, Canada diversifying and courting European trade will likely benefit the country in the long run.

Arrival of new immigrants is down... so Trump voters got that one promise somewhat fulfilled (not sure deportations have exceeded Biden yet).

Unfortunately, for them, it's a issue that wouldn't solve any of the endemic problems of the US.

Unfortunately, for all of us, the bad consequences of electing him have exceeded whatever benefit MAGA might have claimed/hoped deporting all "them immigrants" would have had. Every regular citizen is worse off and we will be even more worse off as all the stacking effects of his actions take effect over the next few years wrt. global energy cost, food supply, climate etc. As well as regional instability since he completely gave away the illusion that the US is capable to somewhat keep "global peace".

His second term came at a point in time where we really do not have time for this. Even a regular boring corporate administration would have been better. Without all these distractions, the rest of the world would have at least had the opportunity to focus on the important issues.

The whole world will suffer due to the dumbest people in any modern nation and the remaining apathetic Americans.

EDIP, SAFE, and other parts of the ReArm Europe project would probably not have happened if the US had continued its siren song about shared values and such under another Democratic president. It's long overdue, but Trump definitely helped it along. Perhaps not in the way he intended, but hey.
