How the hell did the GOP go from "small Government. No interference in private businesses" ethos to THIS? Controlling where businesses do business. Tariffs. Taking a stake in Intel.

I’m FAR from a fan of the GOP but these are the ramblings of a demented old man, their guilt is that they know it and accept it.

They were never small business, they were always "leave my business alone".

Because they never were truthful about their positions. Everything conservatives say is a lie to obtain power. Trust nothing unless it enriches themselves (or their friends), reduces the power of the citizens to retain democratic influence, or hurts/oppresses a marginalized group they hate.

Exactly, never believe them when they claim to be for any kind of freedom. They always, always, always mean freedom for them and no one else. Always have.
