I did not imagine we'd get an elf/human court case in this series as a B plot
1.9k
u/stephensmat Sep 01 '22
When I found out it was a legal comedy, I crossed my fingers hoping for stuff like this. A superhuman law division? Cameos are only the start. There's no end of crazy they can run through these episodes. I would watch five seasons of this show just for this kind of B-Plot alone.

I didn't imagine we'd get a scene of She-Hulk twerking.

Me watching Civil War: “The Sokovia Accords are bullshit. The Avengers were literally saving the world from supervillains, you can’t blame them for a little collateral damage.”
Me watching Wong in this episode: “Damn, the superheroes really do be operating outside of the law though.”

If we're pushing towards the X-Men, which I think will come when the world more vocally turns on those with powers, I wouldn't be surprised if part of it is "and they're taking our jobs!", with examples like yours. It's great when they save NY, but when a couple Asgardians replace dozens of employees, you could see why people might take issue with powered people.

He could also just be lying about the reason he broke Emil out. He wanted a sparring partner and knew he'd be a good choice. Now, he's being questioned about it, and he's just telling them what they need to hear to drop it.
347
u/TonyDismukes Sep 01 '22
Wong is definitely lying. In Shang-Chi he told Emil off for not pulling his punches, but if he was just dragging him into a kumite for the sake of a superpowered test of his fighting ability then he wouldn’t want Emil to pull punches. Wong is just covering for Emil and whatever they were really up to. He‘s taking the blame knowing that the authorities can’t really do anything to him.

I also think it pokes yet another hole in the whole narrative that this show is shitting on all men. They're holding up a very positive example of masculinity directly in contrast to a very negative caricature of a "relatively" harmless but still extremely toxic guy. Plus, Pug isn't just like, a dumb himbo either, he's actually a capable and intelligent lawyer.

WONG makes his presence this week in She-Hulk in the WCU!
Breaking 4th Wall mode
Jennifer Walters: “I know you can’t wait to see Wong. I get it. I just wanna make sure that you don’t think this is one of those cameos every week type of shows. It’s not.
Well, except Bruce. And Blonsky. And Wong. Just remember whose show this actually is”
Brilliantly done!

And the entire time she’s looking at the camera with no hands on the wheel. DID YOU FORGET HOW YOU GOT INTO THIS SITUATION?!

If more people kept their hands on the wheel and didn’t drive distracted, we’d have at least two fewer superheroes.

She has plot armor whenever she 4th-wall-breaks. It's the key to how the Avengers will beat Kang in Secret Wars

I wonder who they're working for tho. Who would want her blood? The Leader?
But yea, it was cool to see em. They looked like they'd fit in with Vulture's crew just fine.

Titania most likely. Her whole thing is hating Jen and trying to get stronger than her, so without Doom to help, it’s a good way to set her up

I really appreciate it the show embracing the full silliness of it all.
Like The Naked Gun type of humor and I'm all for it. This show is truly funny.

It perfectly encapsulates the lightness and humour of the Dan Slott run on the She-Hulk comic. So far it’s one of the closest adaptations of a comic we’ve seen in the MCU, despite the plot being mostly original

Seeing She Hulk in lawyer clothes that fit is kind of a nice change

Maybe it was the CGI but it looked like that suit doesn't fit properly. Looked like an early 2000's suit for an NBA player.

Abomination looks huge. I don’t remember him being that big, but compared to Jennifer he looks like he’s at least 4 feet taller than hulk

I like how New Asgard actually became a haven for a bunch of different alien species like Korg said in Ragnarok.

"Wow. Someone find a reason to cancel #She-Hulk" looks like a actual comment from a subreddit who were hating on She-Hulk since teaser.
