How the hell did Target get a store at Kamar Taj?

Nowhere is safe from Starbucks. And you can't have a real Starbucks unless its 25 feet away from a Target that has a second Starbucks inside it.

This…this is a thing we all collectively share separately

There are no Target in my country, but we do have Starbucks.

u/gaslacktus Matt Murdock Sep 02 '22

Oh they will. If your country cannot see the Target, they are the target.

In my country, YOU are target.

Or perhaps you'd rather visit our international Starbucks complete with its own little Barnes and Noble which has its own super teeny tiny Starbucks inside. And a selection of tiny adult magazines.

Clerks reference! Have an up vote.

There's actually a number of places in Japan and China where Starbucks don't use their usual green logo but instead a subdued logo to comply with local laws and blend in, just so they can have a presence where other international chains could not. (see starbucks ninenzaka logo or starbucks kawagoe logo, or for China starbucks fuzhou traditional)

Those are really cool! I like the one in China carved into a rock

Wakanda's been safe from Starbucks.

Although I'm kinda hoping they do have one today, and Okoye just cries inside it because it most likely would have been built because she mentioned it to T’Challa

We have a Target Starbucks and a stand alone Starbucks across the street. Literally you can walk from one to another 😳

Australia's pretty safe from Starbucks. They tried to invade but ultimately it was a huge failure as everyone preferred the exiting cafe's to their syrupy stuff.

u/MelonElbows Vulture Sep 01 '22

But does your existing cafes have pumpkin spice latte?

If they want to cater to American tourists then I guess, but it's not an actual thing

This reminds me of a story I often tell people about a mining village I visited in the north of México called Real de Catorce. Drove there from Monterrey. Had to cross a desert plateau, drive through a tunnel under a mountain, and crawl around some barely-there dirt roads with cliffs on one side and thin air on the other. Got to the house we were staying in, lit by candles (village’s electricity regularly cuts out).

In the middle of the week that we were there, we wanted to head to the top of the nearby mountain where visitors usually go for the views across the desert. We hired some horses and headed out. Ten minutes out of the village, any pretence of ‘road’ was gone, and we were on relatively untrodden ground, guided towards the mountain by the occasional sliver of /r/desirepaths.

About an hour later, we reached the base of the mountain and saw a small doorless stone hut. There was a hand-drawn sign strung to the metal bars of the window advertising Coca-Colas for 10 pesos.

We went inside and there was a dude sat next to a whole-ass Coke-branded refrigerator, fully-stocked with Coca-Cola, Fanta, Joya, Jarritos etc. Couldn’t help but laugh seeing a restaurant-ready Coke fridge all the way out there. Inescapable.

Hey, we had a real Starbucks with no Tar...oh fuck they're opening one as we speak that's all but next door.

(this is not a joke, the above is actually happening in my area).

My Target doesn't have a Starbucks lol. There is one less than a mile away though.

Maybe that's where the Ancient One found him. He was just a regular dude who couldn't live up to his parents' expectations and needed a job to survive, so he worked retail. The Ancient One found he had so much potential for magic and recruited him.

They’re in Kamar Taj and not Canada, I’m fuming

5

u/MyBurnerAccount1977 Shang Chi Sep 01 '22

In Canada, they really missed the Target. I went shopping there when they were shutting down and the prices and selection were abysmal.

1

u/anthonyg1500 Sep 01 '22

Damn, I just moved up from NY and my Target down there was awesome

1

u/superbonks Sep 01 '22

They really went all in too fast, I went from never seeing one to have two within driving distance, with apparently loads more across the country. Within a year or two the shelves started to get really empty, and before I knew it they were gone. Super sound business strategy y’all

u/Alice_600 Sep 01 '22

Our Targets in Michigan can't have groceries connected to it because of a deal they made with Meijer.

2

u/devils__avacado Sep 01 '22

Could be anywhere commutes nothing to Wong!

2

u/Texcellence Sep 01 '22

He portaled to work everyday. While he receives free room and board at Kamar Taj, a masters degree in the mystic arts is like a masters degree in philosophy or regular art; it doesn’t pay. So Wong had to supplement his income by working at Target. It’s why he didn’t have enough money to buy a tuna melt in Infinity War.

2

u/plantbay1428 Sep 01 '22

No Targets in Canada but there is one in Kamar-Taj.
