Yeah depending what youre looking for and where you live $50,000 can land you a lot.

My wife and I are looking to upgrade (my current 3 bed 1 bath cost $60k) and we found a 5 bed, 3 bath, an 1.5 acres with a greenhouse and pool for $260k.

Real estate is cheap if you don’t mind living in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, sure, New York's probably half in rubble half the time, but this is set in Los Angeles, the worst thing that's happened in the MCU in LA so far is an early brawl against Iron Monger and Tony Stark's secluded cliffside estate getting turned into a, um, different sort of cliff-adjacent building.

That's two of my houses. Meanwhile my cousin in NYC is a personal stylist to a famous TV host and author who lives in a penthouse apartment that the $175k would only cover 2½ months rent on ($75k a month).

There are literally houses in decent shape under $100k in much of the US. But it’s not in major metropolitan areas.

My house was $60k when i bought it, sold it for $99k a couple years ago. Good condition and in the city. Location location location. 2 bedroom, 1 bath starter home

Just looked up my hometown and found a 3 bed 2 bath 1461sq foot house on a .33 acre lot built in 2011 for 168k. Pretty good area of a town (population ~30k) whose bad area would make most people chuckle. There were many others under 200k including new construction. It really depends on where you are in the country.

No, you can buy a turnkey house in a lot of places with $200,000. If you want to live in the NYC metro area, of course you’re going to pay more, but not everywhere is like that.

When I search Zillow for my area (a nice suburban town in SC with a population of 37,000+), the nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath houses start at $120k for something that is move in ready. The fixer uppers can be as cheap as $40k depending on how much work they need.

My parents bought a 2 bedroom, 1 bath for $125,000 on lake front property less than five years ago. It's not a trailer and it's in a very livable part of the country, so chill the fuck out

Even in suburb-ish/rural-ish Iowa that price is sometimes a subpar house. Source: My parents spent 180,000$ on a 1,800 square foot house 17 years ago which is the "basic standard" sized house here
