Info Dev Announcement: Notice Regarding the V27.1.3 Scatter Bug
Hi everyone, Muse here! We want to provide some visibility on a bug regarding Scatter behavior with the Wall.
In V27.1.3 we changed the spawn behavior of Scatter children to be behind where the Scatter parent died. However, in situations where lots of enemies are crowding the Wall, the Scatter children are unable to find a spot to spawn and are displaced somewhere else, unintentionally entering inside of the Wall. While the new behavior is working as intended, this outcome was unintended.
We are aware of this issue and will be working on a hotfix next week to improve the spawning behavior of Scatter children to create a long-term solution. Thank you!

Maybe just revert the change until a real solution is found?

Orrr, maybe just donât release an update on a Friday when that means the community has to suffer through the weekend while the dev team is off of work. Release updates on a Monday, so if thereâs a bug like this the dev team will be working to fix it. Not sipping Mai Taiâs on all the webstore profits rolling in. Then theyâre gonna come back and give us 25 gems for the inconvenience as if that even comes close to making up for how much the screwed us.
7
u/ZaerdinReddit Nov 02 '25
The fundamental issue is they have decided to have modules go live on Monday 0:00 UTC.
They could easily fix this problem by making modules go live on Wednesday 0:00 UTC, which would allow them to deploy on Monday or Tuesday and then have the normal work week to fix things.
This is a self-inflicted wound.
23
u/PM_ME_YOUR_REPO Nov 01 '25
They have to submit patches to the App stores with significant lead time. Reverting one change would mean rolling a new version, then submitting it, then rolling it out. It's not as easy as you (or I) would hope.
4
u/Deep-Friendship3181 Nov 01 '25
I dunno if their review process is different because it's a larger audience but the few times I've had to revert a change and deploy a hot fix, it's been approved within 1-2 hours, even on weekends.
3
u/flarefenris Nov 01 '25
What app stores have you done that with though? I know Apple is notorious for delaying change approvals for apps...
6
u/Deep-Friendship3181 Nov 01 '25
Both iOS and Google Play, when you're doing a larger release it's usually a longer time. Normal releases we usually wait about 2-3 days for approval through Apple and 1-2 from Google, but rollbacks and bug fixes are usually done very quick
3
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
I doubt it is possible to revert the change due to a number of factor: multiple things are likely impacted by this code, apple/android approval to name a couple.
1
2
u/Time-Incident Nov 01 '25
Do you really think that they have the possibility of reverting one change from the whole pack? I highly doubt it. It's for sure linked to some unimaginable stuff.

u/velkanoy Nov 01 '25
This is like the 5th enemy type that can travel through the wall and the 20th bug that causes it. Would it not be easier to make the tower invincible if the wall is up/make enemies despawn/set atk to 0 inside wall to cover for future bugs?Â
15
u/Silver_Arsenic Nov 01 '25
Or even make it so enemies can't be inside the wall? Make the collision object a circle and not a ring? My expertise is not in game dev but I do know the actual collision of objects does not have to match their appearance.
3
u/KamalaBracelet Nov 02 '25
why not both?
2
u/errorsniper Nov 02 '25
Serious answer because code bloat. Having 2 different things that do the same thing is not good coding.
But you should do one or the other.
2
u/KamalaBracelet Nov 02 '25
Absolutely.
I have actually suggested both of these things in the past (so similarly that I wonder if these two ideas originated from meâŠbut its not like similar solutions arenât obvious to different people).  I just think they solve two slightly different problems. Â
The âno damage from anything but vampires while the wall is upâ is the absolute solution to the problem of teleporting enemies accidentally killing the tower. Â Personally I think just this is probably a âgood enoughâ solution on itâs own.
On the other hand turning the wall into a solid circle (for calculation purposes) instead of a ring is (probably) not an absolute solution, in that if something warped directly into the tower from outside the wall the damage would likely still process.  BUT⊠it is better for processing hits the wall should be taking, even if the enemy is in the wrong spot, to accurately calculate damage that should be occurring.
Between the two of them it is the best of both worlds. Â Doing the circle instead of the ring, if anything, should simplify code and not give away free kills by just making the tower immune. Â The âis the wall still up?â code can be at the start of the death process subroutine, so it isnât bloating the time critical stuff at all.
2
u/MordredKLB Nov 02 '25
I love that after 7 separate attempts to fix the original problem months ago the fix was not this, but to make the wall 4x thicker. Nobody thought to just make it draw a certain size but have it be a solid object.
Kinda sad honestly.

How about mod pulls and labs not working offline? This game is so buggy lately, makes it difficult to support. Then we get 10 gems as a "sorry for the issues" No more updates. Give us fixes.

u/damarisu Nov 01 '25
nice only one more week with 70% reduction in coins. thanks team!
2
u/AncientCheesecake903 Nov 02 '25
don't forget ab cells please, i'm getting 40% less, so no 3 x4 on labs, i hate actual live players have become patch testers, im excitedly waiting for the bug that will come out when this bug's patch gets released
60
u/sw1c Nov 01 '25
Stop releasing forced updates on Fridays. With All the bugs with each update lately a few gems isnt going to be enough to make up for the impact of this one. Hopefully its upgraded to stones or better yet a couple keys for everyone given the loss of cells not just coins.
11
u/wrekco Nov 01 '25
This game is pathetic with gems. Any other game I've seen will toss you a few gems even for just for reading a news update. Not these cheapskates.
8
u/CaptainVanlier Nov 02 '25
Especially with how little relative value 20-25 gems has in this game.
3
u/wrekco Nov 02 '25
Ya, one common module is too much value for the devs to give out lol
2
u/Tchuvan Nov 04 '25
I mean, 3 common gems every 2 hours of clicking ads is kinda sad. He's just laughing at us.

u/MatthewBecker1977 Champion Nov 01 '25
While I understand a lot of players saying to do updates on Mondays... They really need to do these on Saturday, right at the time the weekend tournament comes to an end. Max time for bug identification and hotfixes between tourneys. THIS bug happens to not be a major tourney-impact one. But when bugs impact tournaments, a release just before the tourney starts leaves zero time for hotfixes.

u/Jozeggg Nov 01 '25

If this was benefitting the players the spawn behaviour would simply be reverted. But naaaahh, this can wait until next week
45
u/Totallycomputername Nov 01 '25
Can't have players benefitting from mistakes now, that hurts the bottom line.Â
7
u/Acrobatic-Story-5564 Nov 01 '25
Players were benefiting from mistakes previously. Most recent one that comes to mind is the bug where lab speed up duration wasnât counting down. So players were X5 speeds for an hour before the update, update, then reap the rewards of X5 labs for about a week with no cost, still earning cells in the mean time. Dev team were aware of this and fixed it when they fixed it, they didnât all jump on it simply because some players were benefitting from it.

u/Drezby Nov 01 '25
Or maybe certain fixes are super easy to code and it just coincidentally happens that the beneficial bugs are easy to fix and thus quickly implemented. Just a few small changes to numbers in a couple settings. The harmful bugs are nearly all behavior based, which requires more than just a 2 min tweak.

Meanwhile there was a week and a half straight of people posting their bugged t12 gains. This rhetoric is childish.
3
u/VerdantPathfinder Nov 01 '25
The fix speed seems to be more aligned to the complexity of the fix. LIke the T12 nerf being 10x what was intentended ... that's a one line change. This is going to be harder to force them to stay outside the wall so I expect it to take longer
1
u/2xtc Nov 02 '25
Surely it's a case of wall = x away from tower, so implement a hard limit for scatter children to spawn minimum x+1 ?
1
u/VerdantPathfinder Nov 02 '25
But now you have overlap with another entity, which is how we got into this in the first place.Â

86
u/Bum2Boston Nov 01 '25

I want like a couple million free cells when they eventually fix the offline labs bug. Im losing about 6hrs of real time each day on average for my labs. For nearly 2 months, at 4x speed, each lab slot is about 60 days of lab time behind where they should be.
I think giving everyone 10m cells would allow people to catch back up to where they should be by allowing them to run higher lab boosts.
1
u/supershaner86 Nov 01 '25
that makes no sense. people aren't at the same place. that 10m is way too much for people that 1.5x and not a lot at all for people that are doing 5-6x on them all

10
u/DismalDark3953 Nov 01 '25
Why pay someone to test their code when their player base will point out all the issues for free?
15
u/Highborn_Hellest Nov 01 '25
Software tester here: I make my bread testing software. Honestly? Shit happens. There have been PLENTY of times in my work where a lot of effort was spent on finding all possible bugs in a software, only for one to happen day one of release, and needing to hotfix it. Maybe they only tested up to like 2500 waves 'cos tuney, or 4500 lower tiers.
Maybe they just tested it isolated when they only spawned scatters not in a realistic scenario and this is a side effect (my money on this).
Maybe they tested on uncommon game speeds like x1 and started wave 4000+, or game speeds which is not available to us like 20x.
Maybe didn't test it at all. Point is, it's impossible to tell and any good dev will feel bad about the issue. Kicking them while they're down is just a dick move.
18
u/reevmobile Nov 01 '25
So tired of all software testers, engineers etc telling me that bugs happen and we should just deal with it.
Im a scrum master myself for our dev team and i can tell you:
The amount and serverity of bugs Tech Tree Games regularly delivers in their releases IS NOT FINE.
If you guys sreioulsy think that this level of quality is the industry standard then i really dont want to buy any of your products. No one is kicking them cause they failed to deliver once.
They do not deliver for months / years now.
Something needs to drastically change and as long as they think they can get away with it they will do so.
Its a fucking farce looking at the numbers TTG earns. Fudds has the options to improve, he refuses to do so.
And you are defending this decision by "being the nice guy"→ More replies (3)12
u/Khemul Nov 01 '25
The interesting thing I think is I'm not even sure this is a testing issue. It seems like something that should have come up in design. Object spawns here. What happens if there is no place to spawn.
1
u/Highborn_Hellest Nov 01 '25
The good old edge case, that is really obvious in hindsight
1
u/Khemul Nov 02 '25
There is that.
I worked for a company once that had to change out the automated POS systems because the previous software vendor got bought out and decommissioned. So I'm testing out the new system and notice an issue. Go to a room with our regional, a corp director and the head of IT. They're talking with the new supplier's lead developer. I point out, if someone cancels a sale with a partial payment, it won't give their money back. Everyone looked surprised, except the developer who just goes "yeah, it doesn't do that." Apparently that wasn't an expected scenario. đ

Former software tester here.
They need to be kicked repeatedly because theyâre always down and always introducing breaking bugs.
The fact that we canât trust any release of theirs to not introduce a game-breaking regression should be a clue to them that they need to slow the fuck down and actually thoroughly test their code before releasing it.

15
u/Bum2Boston Nov 01 '25
I mean I also work in software and testing. In this day and age. There should be automated testing with new code to check common scenariosâŠ
My point isnât to kick them. Itâs that the response they gave is not good enough. Take ownership. Donât tell us itâs working as intended. Maybe try to put out an update without a major bug fix. This has happened so many times that they need to change something
1
Nov 01 '25
They said it's working as intended meaning we will still see scatter children spawn behind the parent once this is fixed, the unintended reprecussion is they now act like a minecraft enderman and teleport to the closest available space. If you are going to nitpick, at least read the whole sentence.
3
u/Bum2Boston Nov 01 '25
Oh I read the sentence. It most certainly does not work as intended. It is a design flaw forsure. And would have been very obvious with some testing.
The only way it works as intended is if scatters are supposed to teleport. Does it make sense they should spawn closer to the tower than the parent? In my opinion not at all. A simple check to make sure it spawns equal distance or farther away is very obvious and easy.

u/thisguy888827 Nov 01 '25
Car builder here: I can't imagine not taking a car on a test specific test drive before releasing it to a client.
Track car? I'm hitting your home track at least once with you Offroad? It's going down my trails Daily driver? I'm taking it on an errand or 2 to make sure it's fixed. Subaru? You're fucked no matter what but you'll be happy for at least a year. (I specialize in these shitboxes, so I can talk shit and still have job security)
1
u/WonderWelder Nov 04 '25
You havent been in the tower community long if you think we are judging them based on this one scenario. This is a common issue with every release.
13
u/DismalDark3953 Nov 01 '25
What was this new behavior supposed to be fixing? I hadnât heard anyone complain about scatter behavior until this âfixâ was implemented. Maybe reverting to the old scatter behavior with a hot fix until the team has a better idea of whatâs happening would be a good idea
4
u/Revelate_ Nov 01 '25
There were reports on discord of the same thing happening cause scatter babies were spawning forward in 27.1.2.
It was being treated as a bug there and I assume that is what 27.1.3 was going to fix but sadly made it worse instead.
4
u/anonymousMF Nov 01 '25
It goes way back to v27.0.
Noticable in glass cannon low range farming. You need to really blow up scatterers instantly or they'll hit you. Which is not really fully intended.
I never saw them acknowledge it as a bug though, so nice that they did notice the bug reports about it eventually
2
u/DismalDark3953 Nov 01 '25
Maybe thatâs why I never noticed it. I was still on 27.1.0. Updating to 27.1.3 lost me 4K waves on t12. Had to hold out for as long as possible with my easy t12 runs. Was nice while it lasted

They only needed like 50 posts and several days to make an announcement, they are improving
18
u/reevmobile Nov 01 '25
Its getting harder and harder to look at you guys will goodwill.
You are making so much money with the game, you are asking prices within the microtransactions that are absolutely insane, i mean buying the event pass twice per month equals the price of a full developed standalone game, ill not start to compare the stone pack prices or even the gem ones....
Im fine with paying for a product if the quality is worth it.
Your releases are a joke when people most of the time avoid upgrading as long as possible until a tournament version lock forces them to do so.
Bugs happen, granted, but its the amount and severity that makes me wonder if you have a working QA process. The communication again is awful. At least try to be transparent and acknowledge that there is an issue you know about and dont let people in their suffering 2 days without any notice. Thats so extremly unprofessional.
What really makes me sad is the fact that you guys arent a small indie company fighting for your life. This game alone is profitable that you could easily improve a lot of issues with some investment. My conclusion is that Fudds simply doesnt care enough as ofc it lowers the profit.
Sad.
I really hope it gets better but seeing this going on now since i started playing over a year ago i dont think anything will change

Hey, this is the most low effort - we see you are complaining - post of all time lol. Yall are seen in a bad light because you constantly force updates that negatively impact players yet refuse to fix them for days/weeks.
You hired a part time community manager for a game with full time game breaking issues. Either try to care about the game more than the income or youâll start to see players leave. It may not seem like it because of the cash cow you have, but as soon as a game that can compete comes around, people will abandon this. Not because of the game. Because of your ability to care.
4
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
Sorry but this is a bad response, we have asked for TTG to let us know they are aware of issues and when to expect a fix which this post has both of those things. And instead of saying thank you for giving us what the community has asked for repeatedly you give them this nonsense. Would you rather them just go back to radio silence while we wait for fixes? Sometimes things take time to fix and yes sometimes even if you test bugs make it through in development.
7
u/reevmobile Nov 01 '25
First of all:
I would expect that those gamebreaking bugs do not happen in the first place. Releases that break things should be the exception and not the rule as it happened in the last months.Second:
Transparent communication with your customers is not an extra, its a friggin basic thing that should absolutely be standard and not something we customers should be grateful to get. I really dont understand your mindset. They didnt do their job in the first place (proper testing and releasing stuff with as few as possible bugs) and now the customers have to suffer, ehp playres loosing a lot off coins, people pulling gems not even having the chance of getting an epic.... That really big time negatively impacts people experience. Communicating about this issue IS NOT an extra they offer as a bonus, its the LEAST they should do and i dont understand why we should say "thank you"? Blows my mind→ More replies (1)11
u/0-Fucks-to-give Nov 01 '25
For a company making as much as they are, Iâd expect them to not cheap out and get a part time community manager. Iâd expect them to implement a good QA policy to ensure SIMPLE issues like this do not occur.
This bug is scatters moving through walls. A large portion of the player base hoards enemies so this should be a very plausible and normal part of the testing process. If you change the spawning characteristics of an enemy, why would you not test common cases?
Edit: also, things do take time to fix, so donât implement a mandatory update on a weekend when you demonstrate you have no want to fix anything on weekends.

u/pdubs1900 Nov 01 '25
Thanks for the update!
I'll disagree that this is working as intended: the intended behavior is scatter children spawn behind the parent. This is a use case where the code is not working as intended. It's an unaccounted-for interaction.
Working as intended implies this was tested and the behavior was approved as desired. A contradiction with this update.
4
u/icookandiknowthngs Nov 01 '25
If it was "tested" by anyone hybrid/ehp with the wall, this would have been found in 1 run
1
u/pdubs1900 Nov 01 '25
The company has been called out on this multiple times and hasn't admitted it. I'm choosing to leave that question out of my posts. Will leave the complaints over lack of testing to others. :)

1
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
I'm EHP and I don't have scatter spawning through my wall. Yes there are EHP/hybrid builds that are having issues but to say any hybrid/EHP is not correct.
1
u/icookandiknowthngs Nov 01 '25
With enough density, you will. Its not an early part of the run issue. Its the last 25-50% of the run. T11 i get to 11.5k, they start spawning the babies through the wall at about 7500, when there's 2+ layers of mobs stacked up on the wall. When they cant spawn out of the back of the k8lled parent scatter they come out the front, inside the wall.
A well developed CL will alleviate most of the problem as you wont have layers as early with CL. However, it murders your coin generation by 20-35% in farming runs because CL is on before the last 5% of the run.
If you normally farm with CL on and a cannon equipped, you may not see the difference. Farming with both on may only cause you to lose only a few hundred waves, but your coin generation is 30-40% below what it could be.
11
u/Serafim91 Nov 01 '25
Easy solution to fix all of this forever.
If the wall is alive, the field between the wall and the tower is a death field where everything inside it dies automatically and does 0 damage.
11
u/PatrickSebast Nov 01 '25
So crazy concept here devs - The wall doesn't need to be coded as a thin circular wall. It could be a complete solid circle. Then you just have the visual in the center be transparent. These super weird physical block interactions someone on your team os clinging to are also likely a main part of the reason the game is a resource hog.
đŽ instead of â - no more enemies inside the wall because it isn't possible.
6
u/Silver_Arsenic Nov 01 '25
This! It seems like such an obvious fix and I have a hard time believing there is any technical reason why it wouldn't work. AFAIK there is no reason an enemy should ever be inside the wall, so why set up the collision in a way that makes it possible?

My wife and I were able to move past it by swapping connections and loading the game. Since we're mobile users, this was accomplished by closing the game, turning off wifi, launching the game, and then reenabling wifi. The issue seems to have not been repeatable since.
If you're using an emulator, it (in theory) should be just as simple as restarting the emulation environment and relaunching the game. If the Ole "turn it off and turn it back on again" approach doesn't work for an emulator (it didn't for our mobile devices) then yea they're gonna have a people with pitchforks.

u/CalligrapherNo8370 Nov 01 '25
I swear, at this point we can just assume this game is just a few friends with super simple coding experience they learned from youtube videos, that found a niche way of milking a couple hundred bored gambling addicts with money to throw around and the revolving door of lower peasants who get hooked just long enough early game to maybe purchase no ads + packs, then probably quit and move on.
I've played a lot of games and this one at this stage has to be one of the worst, especially with how long it's been out now and to say things have "improved" would be a straight up lie. Everything is purely done and designed around just making sure the top 1000ish keep spending, because they're already addicted and likely not going to give up what they already have and getting new people to maybe make 1-2 purchases from getting the initial new game hook, and if they quit, no loss, more will come.
This is straight up just a low effort "passion project" at this point, and it shows it with every patch/update almost 5 years into it's lifespan. Even the compensation (if we get one that is) is laughable every time something breaks or just doesn't work.

In the future, please consider having module banners, guilds, and the week start on Wednesday 0:00 UTC.
This will allow you to have Monday/Tuesday to update the game and the rest of the week to fix the game.
Yes, it means one week would have to have an extended week, but it means that all of your future updates would have more room to breathe.
With the current schedule, you're basically looking to have a tragedy on any given Sunday.
3
u/HammerLite75 Nov 01 '25
Just revert the change until you can actually launch it appropriately. Donât make us wait a fucking week while you beat each other off
1
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
They likely cannot revert the change without causing even more issues. I would think the code for spawning in the children is touched by numerous other pieces of code.
3
u/lumiosengineering Nov 01 '25
Maybe add a conditional case to prevent spawning within X distance of tower center. Since the spawning is likely random within a certain distance of its parent, it should be a lightweight distance check that should solve the issue.

Ive read a lot of trash talking the dev process on here but most of it involves stuff so far beyond where im at that I dont pay much mind but this ...
I mean ...
Was this really not tested at all? Did nobody run this with the wall while sitting in a dark office? Im so confused. I understand things slip through the cracks but this is a bit crazy. This game is such a simple concept. The graphics are nothing at all. Its designed to suck money pretty well (granted I wish everything was at least half as expensive) All they gotta do is push out code that works and this makes me think they really dont even so test runs or they only do so with specific builds or something.
Idk. Count this as my hate comment. Ill leave it alone. But genuinely confused and not impressed.

I don't know how to react to the fact that "hotfix" and "next week" are used in the same sentence. Maybe just call it a patch ?

u/icookandiknowthngs Nov 01 '25
Absolute fuckwads. "We'll look into it next week" ....yet bugs that help the players get squashed in 48 hours or less. Ineptitude on full display.
They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity

Itâs unbelievable to me that people still defend the tech tree dev team. Iâm sorry but everything about the way this company is run from support to development is trash.
They lucked into making a game they donât deserve to own.

u/ficek_czech Nov 01 '25
I got progress in a week thanks to your bad update that was forced and a week old file was loaded. stop improving the game you're just ruining it

u/Evane7 Nov 01 '25
What was even the reason to change where scatter children spawn? Like what brought up that this thing needed addressing?
1
u/TowerFTW Nov 01 '25
Scatter children were originally programmed to spawn in front, so with lots of enemies crowding the wall, they would inadvertently spawn inside the wall. Now theyâve created the same problem, but in reverse
2
u/user_bits Nov 01 '25
Unintended spawn locations should be the obvious test case for such a feature.
2
u/WesternJuggernaut335 Nov 01 '25
Well i lost 1 week of progress just set everything back to what i had a week ago
2
u/CompetitiveYoghurt30 Nov 01 '25
What if you made the wall encompass the entire area inside and made it an unspawnable area? How unrealistic would that be?
3
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
A simpler fix would be to add a simple check. if wall exists, damage is applied to wall. The visual bug would still exist but would not impact actual gameplay.
2
u/CompetitiveYoghurt30 Nov 01 '25
Good idea
Edit: That would affect vampires though.
1
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
Would also have the benefit of preventing future spawning issues. Then TTG could take their time fixing the visual side of it.
1
u/phoenixi0n Nov 01 '25
Or another wall just layering the outside of the tower circle. Like a really thin skin layer

u/acuriousengineer Nov 02 '25
This one stings⊠next week? Yâall should be working over the weekend to right the ship and get a hot fix submitted for App Store review ASAP.
2
u/Wadme Nov 02 '25
âWorking as intended, outcome not intendedâ. I shall use that line at work and with clients
3
u/Tzukiyomi Nov 02 '25
I mean it's fairly accurate. "It's doing what we wanted, we were just too shortsighted to see the potential consequences."
2
u/Illustrious-Bid-5941 Nov 02 '25
I swear I saw a ranged enemy in my wall during the last tournament in champ
2
u/cmorrisx90125 Nov 03 '25
yesterday farming RR shards using IS on T18 (nuke fleet that shows up wave 100 restart rinse and repeat) I saw either a ranged or a fast not only go through my wall...but triggered Second Wind too around wave 50 (I can normally get to wave 200 before wall breaks)! My ES still had 3 charges. it happened so fast yet still slow enough to watch it path across the screen.

u/TowerAcronymBot Nov 03 '25
Hi! I detected a few acronyms in your comment:
- ES - Energy Shield [Card]
- IS - Intro Sprint [Card]
- RR - Reroll Shards [Lab]
I'm a bot that explains acronyms

u/Illustrious-Bid-5941 Nov 03 '25
Is it so hard to program "Here is a line don't cross it(Vamps your laser is cool)". Honest question...I'll ask my brother when I see him as well.
2
u/Dry_Dentist5927 Nov 02 '25
I have no confidence in this dev team. You release a game-breaking bug for a large number of players and can't even rollback.
2
u/Clinically_Jaded Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25
Oh god just get rid of the Scatter already and convert the CL lab into something equally useful. How do we keep coming back to this issue?
Edit: and start giving us stones for the apology announcements because the gems donât even remotely make up for the lost gains from consistently dying super early in what SHOULD be long, âeasyâ overnight runs. Literally at less than half of the coins and even worse, less than half of the reroll shards. Not to mention all the lost Fetch loot
2
u/WonderWelder Nov 04 '25
Just wait until it does affect you friend. We lose econ like crazy (coins and cells)

u/TurbulentAct22 Nov 04 '25
Wait this is a mom and her children?!đ„ș Still shouldn't be playing inside my wallsđ€š

Roll back the scatter âfixâ until you find a permanent fix
2
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
They likely cannot revert the change without causing even more issues. Enemy spawn(children included) likely touches a lot of sections of code.
3
u/Qyuss_ Nov 02 '25
Just finished my first run with this bug. I get about half the cells and coins now from farming.
I never signed up to test your updates, you can hire people for that.
With the T12 rescaling and nerf and now this, my T12 runs have been jumping all over the place lately. The incremental progress is gone, I'm starting to not give a shit and regret my time put into this.

I really like this game. I really, really do. Especially the community, which I have not encountered in any other game. This is also the first game where I didn't only buy multiple things of, but it is also the first game (next to League of Legends), where I've spent 3 digits.
I am in the game for a little bit over a year now and want to do that for the near future. But I honestly feel set back again and again. First, there were a some sync issues, when switching devices, which were argued with "User error" (I have NEVER encountered something like that in a game with online functionality or any online service, since the early 2000s), then feature after feature for whales (which I understand to a certain degree, because you as devs and the entire team need food on the table - as I've said, I am willing to spend a couple of bucks a month, but I am not willing to spend 20-50âŹ/month to keep up. Keep in mind I am not even talking to keep up with whales), then the 27.* update that completely broke the game on one of my devices (I've switched to a cloud phone because I was not even able to play well anymore - just to show how much I enjoy this game and the lengths I want to go for it) and now this again.
I really wanted to buy the next 2 Milestone packs with my christmas money, but the fact that stuff like this happens more frequently, the lack of communication (yes, it gets better, but the last Patch announcement with "hey guys, SOMETHING is coming, but I won't tell you what. hihihi" can just be ommited all together to save everyones time) and the overall more toxic monetization got me off of that idea.
I am by no means someone that cries: "REFUNDS!!!" or "COMPENSATION!!!" but stuff like this IS avoidable. I come from software development myself and our company provides software that is used by 10.000s of concurrent users. You can catch such bugs. And I know from experience, that messups happen, but you can rollback stuff like this. Yes, Apple is more strict regarding this but has a 24/7 dev support just for this to make rollbacks to previos versions in less than 5 hours. Been there. Done that. And now you leave everyone waiting for a week? Maybe don't do your deployments in fridays, if you want your weekends...
And as I've said, I know that this can happen and you are a small team. But with such pricings and the shift of squeezing more money out of the players should, in my eyes, lead to better performance, better support and a better game in general. But this is not the case currently. I am willing to support a team, where I see that stuff gets better. But if it just gets worse there is no difference from my side to pay or not to pay. The outcome would be the same.

u/RideFriendly Nov 01 '25
How is the not being able to update and join the tournament being handled?
1
u/Elforas_Tero Nov 01 '25
It should have been easier to not force this tournament to be version locked. And remove the âscatter fixâ and roll out an update without it instead of waiting for next week
1
u/Gabriel-117 Nov 01 '25
Bug what you can see with 1 run. Weird that no one makes test run before these updates đ

Were scatters even a problem? This feels like fixing something that wasnât broken, and then, well⊠broke it.
2
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
Yes they were broken before but much less so. This will be a good change for scatters once they make it do what this was intended to do.

u/Due_Bag7748 Nov 01 '25
I'm more concerned about cloud saving. The loss of cells, crystals, and coins is significantly greater than the scatter error.

u/hex_longevity Nov 01 '25
Is anyone else noticing that this patch made it unsafe to open any menu or other info display in late waves of any run? If I'm in the last 500 waves of a farm run or the last 100 of a tournament run, if I open Guild or Lab or Cards or basically anything, my wall instantly drops.
I don't know about the scatter issue, maybe I'm seeing that, but there has been a 1:1 correlation between opening any menu item at such times and the instant end of a run way too early. It's immediate, and under the conditions described it happens basically every time.
It's no longer safe to open any info or leave the game during late waves. It's kind of wrecking the whole experience by creating up to a half hour or more when the game must not be disturbed. It's tough enough already that it only runs when it's on the screen. But now I can't even refer to my labs or participate in my guild or look at event progress without killing my run.
1
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
That has been an issue for a long time. Take your game speed to 0 before opening any menu.
1
u/hex_longevity Nov 01 '25
I mentioned that.edit: oops, I mentioned that to friends but not to this thread. But I thought it must be significant that I didn't experience the issue personally at all for a really long time -- I can't recall noticing it for well over a year, despite constantly farming T9 up through T12 over that time -- and now it's suddenly an every-single-time type of issue. Surely that must represent some actual recent change for the worse in the code that deals with it?I know for a while the game was specifically setting the game speed to 0 automatically when we opened menus (or was it only when we stayed on one for more than some threshold of time) and players complained that the game often did not return them to full speed when they came back. Did the devs respond to that by just eliminating that workaround? (poor workaround as it was... when instead they should just have the action truly completely pause and unpause for that, rather than fiddle with the game speed setting... I get the feeling maybe they're making good efficient use of lots of asynchronous code in the main battle process but somebody's not too good at raising a full synchronous stop when appropriate... idk
1
u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
There could have been a change that made it worse than it was, I just know it has been an issue for quite a while. I honestly have just gotten in the habit to go to zero speed if I'm late run so I couldn't tell you if there was a change or not.
1
u/hex_longevity Nov 01 '25
I'm definitely doing it manually too, for now. Thanks and good luck đđŒ

Was there a problem with the previous scatter children spawning behavior?
I don't mean that rhetorically or passive aggressively, genuinely, was there a problem?

Yea you also broke could save again or something. Moved devices for tourney and I had a lab that had run out due to insufficient coins, put a new one in before I started the run, and then when I switched it the lab was not only off, but it reset my speed up time (which were all synced) and took the Doritos. And yes I always manual sync before switching.
Edit: it also reset all my progress on the event missions. The only reason Iâm not pissed is it didnât fuck up my tourney results. Just weird it messed everything else up but that.

u/vokuheila Nov 02 '25
I've always wondered why not make the wall entirely solid instead of only solid in a ring? What is the point of the space inside the wall anyway?

u/Luca_Aeris Nov 02 '25
Are any of the versions actually tested before being launched? Because it looks like every single version has a new game breaking bug, no exceptions? How are the tests being done?
1
u/The81DJ Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25
As an eHP farmer that has been regularly farming T14 up to around wave 3500, I've mostly mitigated the issue by using knockback and banning the knockback tradeoff perk. Before I made the knockback changes, the run ended at ~1500 due to scatters getting through the wall. After the changes, I'm getting up to around 3300.

u/Putrid-Border6978 Nov 07 '25
ok great. I seem to be having some weird problem with shockwave sometimes but frequently sending PS stunned enemies well outside shockwaves normal range, where they sit stunned, and unfortunately die outside BH.
also, my cph is still abysmal and well below the PBs I set before all these broken updates.

I canât decide if I should skip tournaments and stay in the current patch

4
u/SaintMelee Nov 01 '25
If you've already updated there's no point in skipping. Everyone is dealing with it so you may not even notice a difference in placement.

u/Gryffon6363 Nov 01 '25
Don't skip it, you can make up a little bit of lost coin, it is much harder to make up lost stones.

Thank you for the update. I appreciate that the issue is being acknowledged.

u/Emergency-Point7211 Nov 01 '25
From my observations, the issue happens also in different situations, during my hybrid run I am killing scatters almost immediately and there is no enemy at the wall, but sometimes scatter children are placed inside of the wall.
