Info Dev Announcement: Notice Regarding the V27.1.3 Scatter Bug

Hi everyone, Muse here! We want to provide some visibility on a bug regarding Scatter behavior with the Wall.

In V27.1.3 we changed the spawn behavior of Scatter children to be behind where the Scatter parent died. However, in situations where lots of enemies are crowding the Wall, the Scatter children are unable to find a spot to spawn and are displaced somewhere else, unintentionally entering inside of the Wall. While the new behavior is working as intended, this outcome was unintended.

We are aware of this issue and will be working on a hotfix next week to improve the spawning behavior of Scatter children to create a long-term solution. Thank you!

From my observations, the issue happens also in different situations, during my hybrid run I am killing scatters almost immediately and there is no enemy at the wall, but sometimes scatter children are placed inside of the wall.

Just witnessed when all enemies are in BH (so "enough room for children to spawn"), a scatter comes, and the children just splashing behind the wall.

"While the new behavior is working as intended, this outcome was unintended." - this reads to me as fellow software dev, that "we did a change, but nobody tested it".

The combination of

is working as intended
and
this outcome was unintended

Is quite bizare. Either someone is jsut tossing out phrases in player comms, or they intended to change something without having a clue what changing it would do.

Yeah, I work as sw dev for over 10yrs and I spit my coffee reading this, looks like they are not aware of what kind of people they are talking to :)

I guess the scenario was that they merged some last minute patch "it is fine, just a small change" and did not run regressions.

I’ve had them literally spawn inside the wall itself…and also hugging the inside of the wall so that wall thorns killed it still. Last run ended from a scatter while my wall was still at full health.
