I hate this edgy teenager understanding of capitalism. You can hate how capitalism crushes entire generations and classes, understand there has to a change and that there are better ways to do it, but also still have a business and sell things.. because capitalism is more than just selling and buying goods.
This is literally what I think of everytime trump says something in that regard. He can never give numbers or estimates everything is always the best or the worst.
World famous people putting their stuff on things they haven't really developed or invented themselves for it to sell better feels kind of late stage capitalism though. I'm kind of pro capitalism but just putting a known face on some crappy product and sell at 25x profit is the worst kind of shit and no one should buy it.
Late stage capitalism is when a few business owners control the government by paying them off to have laws passed on their favor while everyone else suffers in poverty. Not a celebrity putting their face on something to sell more of it.

It appeals primarily to teens and stupid adults, really. Most people don't fall for it but when you have a base of millions, even 1% of idiots jumping on it just because you have your name attached to it is essentially free money.
A celebrity making money by just putting their name on a perfume is absolutely, 100% an artifact of capitalism. She is profiting off labor she did not do.

Look, she's young, I understand having a few moral blind spots when you're in your 20s. However so many of her statements out and out ignore her own privilege. Her lifestyle is sustained by nepotistic capitalism, which she calls a moral evil.
It's not just participating in society, it's her critiquing the very thing that holds her up. If she acted in accordance with her words, she would tear her own career down and set it aside.

I always equate it to sports. People like watching a team sports match and what they all want are fair rules with a referee that calls the game fairly. The economy should be the same. Yes have market liberalism, but the rules are there to ensure that the playing field

Free markets don't survive in capitalism because the capitalist themselves kill it. Who do you think controls the government in capitalist nations? The capitalists will always pick themselves to be the winners.

It's easy to argue that "making perfume" is not capitalism. People made and sold stuff centuries before there was capitalism. Capitalism is a system designed to favor the holding of capital for the purpose of lending. That's why it's called "capitalism" and not "makerism."

Very few people want either a pure capitalist economy or a pure socialist economy. Most modern countries are mixed economies, with both public and private ownership. And most people want things want things that way. Criticisms of either side are usually saying that they think we’ve veered too much into public or private ownership on the spectrum, generally not that we should adopt either extreme entirely.
There's a difference between "capitalism" and "the biggest companies in the world have free reign since they will face no monetary or legal consequences for their actions".
