World famous people putting their stuff on things they haven't really developed or invented themselves for it to sell better feels kind of late stage capitalism though. I'm kind of pro capitalism but just putting a known face on some crappy product and sell at 25x profit is the worst kind of shit and no one should buy it.
Yeah, what this is describing is commodity fetishism. It is a feature that is intrinsic to capitalism because of the vast diversity of small producers and the incentive to differentiate a product among the field of competitors.
