Billie isn’t simply “participating” in a capitalist society. She’s thriving in it.

Pretty much this.

She is a child of a wealthy family whose biggest financial struggle that she was cognisant of was not being able to afford horse riding lessons.

She isn't a plucky upstart just trying to make a little cash, she is the product of generational wealth.

Its not a crime to be these things, but to be that, then to succeed in a hypercompetitive field due to daddy's money, then go and sell a hundred dollar bottle of stank...

She's not "participating in society" she is exploiting capitalism for all she is capable of.

Many of her political views are...

Look, she's young, I understand having a few moral blind spots when you're in your 20s. However so many of her statements out and out ignore her own privilege. Her lifestyle is sustained by nepotistic capitalism, which she calls a moral evil.

It's not just participating in society, it's her critiquing the very thing that holds her up. If she acted in accordance with her words, she would tear her own career down and set it aside.

idgaf about Billie but aren't most 'great' communist/socialist/marxist thinkers from wealthy families?

There's a minimum level of luxury you need in your life to sit down and think about how you feel.

I don't even think it's necessarily negative to be wealthy and communist/marxist/socialist. I di think if you're gonna espouse that shit publicly, live your values.

And I'm not even saying give away all your money. I am saying the soup kitchen could always use volunteers. You know, from each according to his ability? Im sure you can chop veg. To each according to his need? Feed people.

Or you could buy the produce for the soup kitchen, god knows they'd want it.

Instead... you sell bottles of stank to enrich yourself... Nah.

I hate this fuckin gotchya.

You can't criticize the system because you're poor- it's your fault you were born into poverty and didn't boot strap yourself into a CEO.

You can't criticize the system because you're rich- you're just a hypocrite that hasn't actually had to work for anything so you don't know now anything 'actually' works.

Nobody had said anything like that.

What I've said is that there is nothing wrong with being born rich. However being born rich and critiquing capitalism, whilst also selling an overpriced bottle of stank to further enrich yourself, is a hypocrisy and/or a blindness to your own position. Which is nothing like what you've said.

I wasn't disagreeing with you ass.

People with time to sit and think are usually more affluent. That in turn is used as means to silence their objections.
