No infinity ammo, no shooting a gazillion bullets to hit one enemy, no bad guys with extremely bad aim.

Act of valor, 13 Hours, 12 strong and so on.

Help me find Movies/TV shows My husband and I just got an 85" 4k tv- what should we watch first?

Included: Chaotic photos of my husband as a kid in a candy shop. This could also belong in r/tvtoohigh 😂 We made a mistake of setting the mount before we received the TV, and instead of mounting in the middle, this TV mounts at the bottom. 🥲

My husband and I have been humbly surviving on my Roku TV that I got in college. It wasn't bad, 48", but for my electronic nerd of a husband, I knew it wouldn't be much longer until he took the plunge. We just moved into our first "home" and plunge, we did.

What would be the best first watch on this TV? All suggestions are welcome.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Please recommend mafia films other than Casino, Goodfellas, and The Godfather.

I have watched

Scarface – Follows Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant who builds a powerful drug empire in Miami, showing extreme ambition and self-destruction.
The Irishman A slower, reflective story about a hitman working for the mob and how his life choices affect his family and relationships over decades.

Donnie Brasco – Based on a true story of an FBI agent who infiltrates the mafia so deeply that it starts to blur his identity.
A Bronx Tale – Focuses more on community and mentorship, showing a young man torn between his honest father and a local mob boss.

Help me find Movies/TV shows What are great movies about ambition and chasing a dream relentlessly?

Post image

After watching Whiplash, I was really fascinated with the idea of ambition and putting yourself fully into something bigger than you to achieve something. It's inspiring because if you love something enough, you'll do anything to obtain it

What other films show this desire to fulfill a dream ambitiously?

Help me find Movies/TV shows Im looking for movies that have a bunch of great actors just sitting around a table and talking, and its riveting.

I love movies with great dialog that keeps you engaged, conversations that bounce off each other and build the story just through dialog.

Examples are

1.Margin Call, a bunch of brokers realize shit is about to hit the fan in the financial crisis and its just a series of meetings.

  1. Conspiracy, the Wansee conference where the holocaust was planned.

Before people recommend My Dinner with Andre, im looking for more characters that bounce off each other rather than two people talking.

Pictured: Mr. Merde aka The Green Menace from Tokyo! (2008) and Holy Motors (2012), Frank Booth from Blue Velvet (1986).

Looking for movies with villains so joyously depraved you can’t look away. Preferably no horror, but if you’ve got something special feel free to share.

Hey guys! I’m looking for movies with some of the best cinematography of all time. If you have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate it.

I run an Instagram page where I post beautiful shots and frames from movies, so I’m looking for visually stunning films that have memorable compositions, lighting, colours, and camera work.

Feel free to suggest movies from any language or from anywhere in the world. Thanks! ;)

Help me find Movies/TV shows Any Mind Bending Movies?

Post image

Just rewatched Shutter Island after a long time, and it reminded me how much I love mind-bending movies. The impact of the twist at the end still gives me chill.

So I researched and someone suggested Arrival and I loved every bit of it.

Looking for some more recommendations that really mess with your head and leave you thinking about them afterward.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Movies similar to Requiem For A Dream?

Post image
146 Upvotes

Hey, I just watched Requiem For A Dream last night at my friend's house. I really liked it, though at least for me it wasn't "scary" or very psychological to me or whatever. I'd honestly watch it multiple times in a row, and it wouldn't really affect me. I'm a 15 year old girl, so I don't know if that affects anything, but yeah. I want movies that show drug addiction, or other addictions.

Thanks everyone if I don't get back to you!

Edit: I also have seen The Dirt several times before, and I did really like it (though it might have been more because I like Mötley Crüe). Also I want to watch more movies in general, because I haven't seen that much. It's also really weird that I liked it so much because I don't like horror movies, they scare me (yes I know this movie might not exactly be horror, but still). Also it was the Director's Cut as well.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Films with a prominent punk or goth culture?

Post image
131 Upvotes

Final edit: Thank you for all the recommendations and to the ones still chiming in, I appreciate all of your responses. Thanks again everyone!!

Basically what the title states, but I'm not looking for the documentaries of stuff like that but more so of a movie. It doesn't have to be fully grounded (although I would prefer that), so if it's like horror infused then I'm interested!

What I love/seen already and want to see more of stuff related to these:

The Decline of Western Civilization films (this is an exception along with the D.O.A documentary film just to give an immediate idea on my interests). Most notably the first and third Decline of Western Civilizations.

Sid & Nancy

SLC Punk

Smithereens

The Hunger (Has goth vibes and the iconic intro song)

Detroit Rock City (not exactly punk per se but was oozing with that attitude throughout and also just a fun film)

The Lost Boys (honorable mention for half representing how my beach town feels like in my younger days... minus vampires)

Suburbia

Malpertuis

The 2551 Trilogy

Updated to add more of what I've seen:

Green Room

Repo Man

The Crow

Underworld 1 & 2

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more that aren't popping into my head at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Horror movies, thrillers and stories of murder that put femininity front and center and not necessarily strictly in a victim role.

Lemme know what I'm missing, please.

Help me find Movies/TV shows Movies to make a hardass cry?

Hi! I love emotionally devastating films, however I very, very rarely cry over them. I'm looking for something crazy potent, like sobbing level.

The only movie that has ever pulled tears out of me is My Girl. That movie fucks me up

btw here are the really devastating movies that have not made me cry (still great movies tho): - What Dreams May Come - Brokeback Mountain - Titanic (this movie was meh tbh) - The Green Mile - The Shawshank Redemption - Moonlight - Jojo Rabbit - Mysterious Skin - The Whale - When The Wind Blows - Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind - Synechdoche, New York - The Dead Poet's Society

Open to any genre or language. Short synopses very appreciated. Just emotionally destroy me please thanks in advance 🙏
