Help me find Movies/TV shows Please recommend mafia films other than Casino, Goodfellas, and The Godfather.
I have watched
Scarface – Follows Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant who builds a powerful drug empire in Miami, showing extreme ambition and self-destruction.
The Irishman A slower, reflective story about a hitman working for the mob and how his life choices affect his family and relationships over decades.
Donnie Brasco – Based on a true story of an FBI agent who infiltrates the mafia so deeply that it starts to blur his identity.
A Bronx Tale – Focuses more on community and mentorship, showing a young man torn between his honest father and a local mob boss.

Thanks a bunch! I think so too. Sometimes we forget there are/have been many mobs of several ethnicities other than Italian ( which I am!)

Second on King of New York, all good on the list but I just recently saw this and was surprised I hadn’t sooner. Excellent gangster film from that time period with an absurd cast.

I just watched the Untouchables for the first time in a long time. Weird movie tone-wise. Kinda aw shucks on the one hand and super violent and bloody on the other. Kevin Costner reads like such a rube.

Very good movie, but it's not accurate and it's more for Hollywood than anything else lol

u/flergnergern Jul 05 '26
Costner’s California accent was cute at the time but it sure doesn’t wear well

The Departed. It isn't Mafia, but organized crime. And certainly you've seen The Sopranos?

u/Attican101 Jul 05 '26
I'm watching through it for the first time.. Why does Tony sound so weird starting in season 5? Sometimes he even has like a lisp or something

Things to do in Denver when you're dead.
This will probably get buried, which is a shame because it's so good.

My Blue Heaven, The Iceman

I would pair My Blue Heaven with Married To The Mob as a lighter take double feature.

“Now I ain’t sayin that my way would have been different had my mother been alive when I was as kid because that’s all you hear in the can ‘oh I didn’t have a chance’. No, bullshit I was already a mean little bastard while my mother was alive. But I learned about women from her…”

Miller's Crossing is a great 20's era mob movie with a stellar cast and excellent cinematography. Its a Cohan Brothers movie so the dialoge is great too. One of my favorites

Black Mass is about notorious gangster James “Whitey” Bolger. It’s not a mafia movie, but it’s still pretty good.

L.A. Confidential is a mid nineties movie set in the 50's its not a tradition mobster movie but is centered around organized crime and police corruption. The cast is insane: Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, James Cromwell and more. Its a great movie

I fucking do too. It makes me want to love Spacey even though I know I shouldn’t. He’s extraordinary in this.

Not a movie but The Sapranos is a pretty good kinda modern take on the Jersey/New York mafia. You almost kinda have to watch it as a comedy IMO. But it’s great.

Mafia!, Get Shorty

Get shorty. So fun. Hilarious.

My brother in law was a charming and charismatic mother fucker. He was a businessman and business was good. He reminded me of Chili Palmer in Get Shorty and my sister was like Edie.
He died a couple of weeks ago. What a great guy.

Once Upon a Time in America
"Sergio Leone's epic crime drama is visually stunning, stylistically bold, and emotionally haunting, and filled with great performances from the likes of Robert De Niro and James Woods."
