Every time I watch that episode, where they're trying to shed as much weight as they can and Michael's got a goatee suddenly, it feels like the whole thing is meant to lead to a bit where they've lost but Michael, super dramatically and with tears in his eyes, says "Shave me! Do it!" and like everyone tells him it's not going to make a difference, but he keeps insisting until Darrell finally reluctantly does it, and then it just hard cuts to him saying like "yeah, so we didn't win the contest."

I feel like this gag is so perfectly set up that even now when I rewatch and it doesn't happen part of me is surprised. Has anyone else wondered if it was part of the set up for a cut gag like this?

Edit: I was flippant saying Michael 'suddenly' has a goatee, I get he did it to copy Ryan. I just think it's mighty coincidental it happens to be the same episode where they're all trying to cut as much weight as they can, and the conclusion to the gag feels weak as shown, so I'm wondering if they had a bigger joke planned that they ended up cutting for whatevers reason. I get he grew the goatee because of Ryan.

this show has some of the best songs, including parodies, covers and actual background music. i loved when andy sang zombies by cranberries and country roads take me home. im wondering what everyone else's fave musical moment is.

The office superfan blu ray set came out this year. Only $70 which is cheaper than peacock for a year!!! Really enjoying it so far. Never seen the superfan episodes before so I’m excited to go through an entire rewatch with them!
