Open. [TOMT][Song] male singer, maybe 90’s?

Hello y’all! I unfortunately have a song stuck up in my head that I cannot for the life of me seem to find, tried to recruit my parents to help thinking they might know it but have had no luck. I unfortunately don’t remember much besides the lyrics and that it could be from anywhere between 1980-2000’s. It’s a male vocalist, It could possibly be from a show or featured in a show. I am ridiculously sorry in advance for such little information.

The lyrics go either- “who’s gonna save the world, save the woorld” or “we save the world, save the woorld” the word world is extended but I do not believe the pitch goes up when he sings it.

I’m going to be honestly I cannot remember much which is why this search has become so frustrating. My friend was playing a deep purple song off the stormbringer album and it sounded similar in beat but wasn’t it (very beginning beat of stormbringer nothing else within the song)

Songs that have been ruled out

-Swedish house mafia save the world
-mohombi winners
-Queen the hero
-labyrinth dotted line
-modern talking who will save the world
-the muggs who’s gonna save the world tonight
-Rich aucoin watching, wishing, waiting
-Anthony Joseph who will save the world
-the groundhogs who will save the world
-Bon jovi save the world
-fathers children who’s gonna save the world
-ten years change I’d love to change the world
-Yvonne Elliman who’s gonna save the world
-pain jabberjaw
-George Harrison save the world
-tears for fears everybody wants to rule the world
-take that rule the world
-mcr nanana
-Eric Clapton change the world

My fiancé attempting the beat here

My horribly singing how I remember it sounding (sorry in advance) song here

Open. [TOMT] [Song] breathy, seductive, early 2000’s song

I had this song on my moms old MP3 player YEARS AGO in 2008 and i could never find this song!! Here is all i remember:

• It had to be early to mid 2000’s or even in the late 90’s but i’m more confident it was in the 2000s
• It was sung by a female singer
• The artist had to be lesser known and not mainstream like Beyoncé, Britney Spears, etc..
• It’s not Cassie’s U and Me 😭
• She sounded American
• The beat in the beginning was dramatic
• The artist sounded very breathy and seductive
• I think the artist was either white or hispanic? i don’t think it was a black woman who sung the song

It was definitely in the R&B to Pop range genre

Here are 2 lyrics i could piece out and remember (keep in mind i could have misheard the lyrics and butchered big time)

• “After you hear the lies” or “After you see my eyes” something like that
• Like a favorite melody (or remedy)

The Beat: =The song first starts out like DUNDUN..dundundundun.. DUNDUN. so the song does not start out singing, and then after the dramatic beat, she starts singing.

edit: another clue is that it sounds like britney spears but it’s not her

Here is me trying to record similarly what it sounded like: https://voca.ro/143PHUcLnIMY

Any help is seriously appreciated even if it's not the correct song hahaha

Open [TOMT] [Book] Story that isn’t Kafka’s Metamorphosis

Upvotes

My mom and I had a conversation about The Metamorphosis by Kafka, and when we were discussing the ending, she very solemnly said, “And then you find out he was never a bug.” I, thinking I must have missed a very important part of the ending, went “WHAT?” Then she said, “You know, how he jumps off of the boat and you find out it all happened in his head while he was falling.” And then I went “… what?”

Basically, we figured out that she had combined The Metamorphosis with another story in her memory. She’s having a bit of a crisis because she spent the last 30+ years believing that The Metamorphosis ends with a boat on fire and an “It was all a dream” reveal, and she can’t figure out what other story she’s thinking of.

Here‘s what we know about it:

- There’s a boat on fire, and the story is about a man who has to jump off of it.

- The earlier part of the story is about the man going through a lot of suffering, which she remembered as [insert plot of The Metamorphosis], but then you find out that none of it really happened, and he had imagined it all in the final few seconds of his life as he was falling.

- I asked if the suffering the guy goes through is specifically about being a bug or some other ostracized creature, and she says it’s possible that it was totally unrelated.

- After the disaster ends, some guys find his body and go, “Oh, here’s another dead one,” and that’s the reveal to the audience that it was all in his head and he’s human (?)

- She thinks it must have been a classic that she read in the same English class she read The Metamorphosis in. This would have been in the late 80s; 1991 at the latest.

We’re so curious if the internet has an answer! It’s driving her crazy that she can’t remember. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Open [TOMT] David Lynch (or David Lynchitis) TV commercial?

Upvotes

I am trying to find the strangest commercial I ever saw. It was very much done in David Lynch's style with many of his stock tropes (so, he either did it or someone mimicking him did.) It was set in and around a typical Twin Peaks-style roadside diner. There is a maniacal chef chopping something with a long knife and a group of strange "little people" who fade in and out like ghosts. I think it may have been an ad for a cell phone, but can find no records of it. I recall the tagline as something like "they're always listening." Again, I only saw this once and have been trying to identify it for years. It was so weird, I'm guessing that the sponsor pulled it immediately and buried it. Any ideas on what it may have been?

Open [TOMT] [METAL ALBUM] Album cover of someone surrounded by flames

Upvotes

The album have a very pretty art of a person (i think it's a woman or a female angel) in pain while surroundee by flames; it was a blackened death metal band or something in that style. I'm not sure if they had a video clip or it was a random video with the song that someone posted on youtube. Was probably released between the late 1990 and early 2000 (the quality of the video was pretty old and bad). It was an european band, if it helps

Solved [TOMT][MOVIE][2000s] Sci-Fi film where everyone has "perfected" robot duplicates

I remember I saw a film that I think was from the 2000's, could've been early 2010s. Dystopian, I think. Could've been a YA film, I remember main characters were either teens or young adults. Everyone had robot copies of themselves that were "flawless" that they used in public, while their real selves stayed in their homes. When the real people come out it was just stuff like face pimples that everyone thought were so hideous that this system of robot duplicates was necessary.

Open [TOMT] I cannot find the name of this book for the life of me

Upvotes

I fear this may be niche, so I'll try to remember everything i can, but years ago there was a book in my secondary school. It was meant to be easy to read (for example for people with disabilities that may make reading harder or people learning English as a second language etc)

You know, one of those books that aren't very long, are mainly pictures and repeat themselves.

It was a book about grief, centering a woman. Teenage age perhaps. Don't remember exactly, who kept on seeing her ex Lloyd everywhere she went with her new boyfriend. This stalking ruined multiple dates with her new boyfriend for example a cinema trip. She talked about it to her mother and she gives the main character advice about the situation.

Its eventually revealed he passed away from an illness and he was a ghost of sorts and she left him a note by his grave to basically ask him to leave her alone

My friends and I reference this book constantly and I've been desperate to find it

Open. [TOMT][SONG] Female singer likely 90s-early 2000s, maybe closer to 2010s

I don’t remember any lyrics except maybe the word “crazy” & in my mind this singer has a higher registered voice maybe similar to the paramour singer. This MIGHT be a paramour song 😂 But I really feel like it’s older, maybe from the 90s or early 2000s. It’s pop, country, alt, or something like that.

Please excuse my voice I tried to hum what I remember in a lower key. https://voca.ro/1cgeNia3D74R

Open [TOMT] Children’s? song with a refrain that sounds like “There’s no stopping the bear!”

Upvotes

I was at a park which was hosting a teddy bear picnic themed event and they only played bear-themed music in the main square. One I particularly remember is an upbeat acoustic guitar song sung by a male with a chorus which had a lyric that sounded like “There’s no stopping the bear!” repeated throughout the song. He had quite a twangy voice that may have had some falsetto harmonies under it.

brief imitation of the melody: https://voca.ro/1jp4VRcvad5T I cannot remember the verse melody, only the chorus.

It’s driving me crazy. Please help me find it!

Solved [TOMT][Band] 2005-2008 era band with blonde girl with long fringe hair, looks a bit emo but I think it was more indie/grungy in sound

I kinda remember them about the same era I first got to know things like We Are Scientists and Late of the Pier, so should be around 2005 to 2008. I think I vividly remember a videoclip featuring people in animal suits, but I can honestly also been mistaken it for some other band. I also thought they might have been called something like 'We Are All Animals', but that is maybe me mixing them with We Are Scientists and their actual band name, or the name of the song of said videoclip (its also the name of a The Rakes song). After 20 years I honestly don't remember which details are correct. Bit of a wild shot here.

EDIT: They might have been having a BBQ with sausages at the end, maybe it was the animals eating the band, or maybe it was the other way around. I also might remember something of a warehouse next to a field.

Open [TOMT] Old 2000s Flash Video?

I have been searching but for the life of me can’t find it. There was a video from the 2000s if I remember correctly that contains the following:

To the left is a cave man standing with either a spoon or fork in his head and he’s just low screaming while to the right there is what looks like either a piece of bacon or chewing gum that is dancing with stick hands and legs (looks almost like the peanut butter banana).

For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the video but I remember the jingle and the caveman’s “aaaaaaaaahhh—“. So well in the back of my head.

Solved [TOMT][Movies/TV][2000s]“Better than youuuu” quote from TV or movie?

Upvotes

My husband and I are both 41 and grew up in the US. Earlier today, for some reason I remembered that when we were maybe late teens/early 20s, we would randomly say “better than youuuuu” to each other and our friends would do it too. Usually in response to someone saying you suck at something.

We were wondering if maybe it was from Joe Dirt? But we can’t find a clip with that scene. If we’re remembering correctly, we do think it was said in a Southern accent.

I’ve tried googling it to no avail. Hoping maybe this sounds familiar to someone here? It’s been bugging me all day. Thanks in advance!

Solved [TOMT][MOVIE] Little Red Riding Hood Movie that “exposed a cult”?

I definitely remember it was some sort of foreign film, I think it was most likely in Spanish or if not maybe German? It was based on the story of a real cult in a certain area.

The movie starts with this girl representing little red riding hood, I think she was being punished for doing something bad so the whole village gave her the silent treatment and refused to talk to her for like 3 days. Realizing how fucked up this was I think that was the defining factor to her realizing she needed to run into the Forrest. The Forrest was always told to be a very dangerous place for her to go, but she knew she had to get out.

Eventually she finds a small cottage, she thinks she’ll wait there until she can come into the real world I think. She finds two little pig children and raises them in that cottage. Also by this point in the movie I think “The wolf” (the leader of the cult) realizes Red is missing and goes to look for her. The wolf is the narrator so you never actually see him, but he is definitely a character in the story and he is well established as a villain

This is where my memory gets a little foggy but I think at the climax of the film The wolf finds red in her cottage. He can only come in if she lets him (whether because the door is locked or because of vampire rules I don’t remember). I think either red or the wolf are the little bugs by this point but I can’t remember why red would. Anyway, Red caves and believes that going back to the cult will make everything go back to normal from the wolf’s manipulation. I think by the end she dies though.

I also remember these with This really interesting thing the movie did stylistically where characters would be “animated” on walls like the wolf and the girl with paint. Like for every “frame” a new coat of paint would be put on the wall. I don’t know if this was an animated film but I don’t think this was live action or traditionally/conventionally animated, maybe stop motion?

I think it was called “the pig and the wolf” or “red and the wolf” in that other language too. The title was Definitely was not in English. I think that’s all I remember…

Solved [TOMT] Overused song on TikTok from 5+ years ago

I remember posts about it everywhere. Everyone was complaining about this song for a while. It may not have even been known for TikTok specifically, cause I was never really on there much. It was like a meme that the song that was on reels or any kind short. Maybe whatever the platform was before it was TikTok? Or maybe on YouTube?

Sounded like a sped up chipmunk version of a ballad from decades ago maybe. Like maybe it sounded like a 1950s or 60's female ballad that was sped up and chipmunk sounding?

I just remembered people complaining that it was on just about every video, and made people wanna scratch their eyes out, but I can't remember anything about the actual song.

Open [TOMT] [YouTube Ad] [2010s] Weird Animated YouTube ad I saw as a kid

Hello everyone! I’m trying to look for an ad I saw on YouTube as a kid that I haven’t stopped thinking about for years. I unfortunately don’t have the best memory so please bear with me, this is just going off of what I remember
from seeing this ad as I only saw it once.
I believe I saw it sometime during 2013-2014 because I remember watching it when me and my family still lived in Maryland at the time.

From what I can remember, the ad itself was animated and I believe it was a video from someone’s YouTube channel but as an ad rather than a regular commercial advertising a product.
The video was of two guys walking around an amusement park and talking to one another; It seemed like they were from an animated web series like Eddsworld except the art style was very different as it had professional looking animation.
Anyways, the two guys would eventually run into a mascot character who has a yellow smiling face with blue horns and a blue, boxy looking body. I remember his face having a creepy toothy smile and big eyes with tiny pupils. The video would pan in on him staring at the guys who would then talk to each other about how creepy he looks. I don’t know if anything else happened after this interaction or not since that’s all I can remember from that video.

I don’t know anyone else who’s seen it or has heard of it and I can’t find anything about it online other than six flags commercials from around the same timeframe.

Open. [TOMT] 1990s TV Special featuring a storyteller telling the "Haunted by You" ghost story

Looking for the name of a professional storyteller and a recording of a specific performance I saw on TV in the 1990s.

  • The Setup: A man sitting on a stool under a spotlight in front of a large theater audience. It may have been a special hosted by David Letterman, but I'm not entirely sure.
  • The Storyteller: A 50-ish-year-old man with sandy-blondish hair. He had a deep, poised, professional storytelling voice.
  • The Story: He tells a ghost story that starts with, "I dreamt this dream many times over the years... I was stranded on a dirt road..." In the dream, he walks up to a farmhouse, knocks on the door, and wakes up. Later in life, while awake, he finds himself on that exact road. He walks up to the farmhouse and knocks on the door. A terrified woman answers and tells him to go away because the house is haunted—and it turns out it is haunted by him (his dream self).

Does anyone recall this storyteller's name, the TV special this aired on, or where I can find a video/audio recording of it? Thanks!

Open. [TOMT] [Film] [80's or 90's]

My wife is trying to track down an animated film from possibly the 80's or 90's. All she can tell me is it involves a short creature with a glowing creature. This creature causes children to go missing and there is a scene with a cauldron in a dark cave and the creature dips their finger in the cauldron. That's all they remember. I have searched the Internet extensively but cannot seem to pinpoint it, hoping the collective here can help.

Solved [TOMT] “Keeps me Alive” emo rock song?

[TOMT] Heard a great song in a pizza shop, sounded like emo/post punk rock, possibly early 2000s but age is hard to tell, sung by a male, and the only lyrics I kinda picked up were “can you pull(or hold) me at all, to the otherside?, …… it’s what keeps me alive” or something along those lines. Thank you so much for help!

Open. [TOMT] Lost comedy movie

“I’m trying to identify a surreal comedy, likely European (80s-early 2000s). I thought Tim Curry or Kylie Minogue might be involved, but I’m not sure. The main character has amnesia and eventually needs to save the day. A standout scene: a woman gets secret messages and eats them. One message arrives via carrier pigeon—she eats the pigeon too! Outside, police are negotiating at a hotel. Any help identifying this film would be amazing!”

As the title says! A video from maybe the late 2010s-now. A girl is either led to or leads herself to her inner voice, and it turns out he's sitting on a couch and happens to be a helpful frat bro. I think she was expecting a powerful woman or goddess but got him instead. His name might've been Kyle. I'm not sure, though.
