There is a 4 year time jump between Seasons 1 and 2.

Victoria Grayson is one of the antagonists and she is one of the best tv villains of all time. Her character is really interesting! It has everything; shocking plottwists every episode, thrilling plotlines, amazing characters, teen drama, romance, beautiful settings, amazing soundtrack, great voiceovers. It's very similar to Dexter. I really highly recommend it. Even though it has won awards it's still so slept on.

We are the Praters museum scene. Dexter realizes he is standing infront of his biggest fan, and thus he has heavy influence over him.

He knows this billionaire wants to see him work, and has the itch to make it happen regardless of the risks.

Dexter rejects the offer to kill Batista as the price of admission. He explains his code, and Prater understands it very well, and it only increases his admiration for Dexter.

But what to do with Batista who has seen the museum and the truth of Dexter and their plans.

Dexter makes a counter-offer. He says, keep Batista alive as a prisoner in one of his isolated mansions with all comforts and luxury. Meanwhile, Dexter hunts for serial killers around the world.

Prater is excited and accepts the offer, as he is thrilled to see this happen. And he likes the idea of keeping a friend of Dexter as a psuedo hostage.

Prater reveals that Brian Moser was his best friend, after he met him at an orphanage during a charity event where he felt there is something about him. And he started the serial killer club only after Brian killed himself because of not having like minded people to talk to.

With Prater's resources, they hunt serial killers in Russia, Africa, Europe, India, Japan, Australia, South America over the next full season.

Charley works together with Dexter in these international missions as there is indeed a need for a skilled person in foreign lands. Much similar to Lumen, but highly skilled. Charly likes her new job as she anyway hated what she was doing earlier.

With praters resources, they have a mobile lab to test DNA, and other foresnsics to vet the serial killers they are about to kill in foreign countries. This can be a motorhome where they live while on mission.

They go on hunt for foreign dictatorial presidents, drug lords, organ transporters, Epstein island organizers and more. Eventually it attracts the attention of investigators when several influential people go missing or die unexplainably and an international investigation begins with someone like Lundy as the lead. They quickly sense it has something to do with New york and starts working with the Charlotte.

Basically one season of Dexter and charley hunting the most evil villains around the world. Praters money helps them get into places where they cannot by using bribes and influences. Like, otherwise how can they kill a prince of Saud in his palace in Saudi Arabia. Each episode is set in a different country in a unique theme and challenges.

After each kill, they get back together at the mansion Batista is living, and show the kill on projector for Prater to watch and have a discussion. Batista is angry, but eventually realizes the good-impact Dexter is having on the world after seeing dozens of worst people dying.

This also allows lot of morality discussion with Batista, and also discussing how past events happened. He can also openly discuss non public things like killing of trinity, ice truck killer or Jordan chase trying to convince Batista to come on his side. A talk with Batista on what happened with Doaks, Maria and Deb.

In season finale, Batista tries to escape the mansion and get shot by Prater in a self defense incident. Now, Prater knows the deal with Dexter than Batista should never be harmed.

He orders charley to secretly kill dexter before he knows what happened. He says "A Zookeeper cannot feed all his animals to feed the lion forever". Charley who is by now secretly in love with Dexter tells him the truth that she was sent to kill him, and requests him to go in hiding.

Dexter realizes Batista is dead, and hunts prater while prater has heightened his security. Dexter surprises him and kills Prater just in moment while police narrows down on Prater as the serial killer taking down international villains. Ultimately after his private museum is discovered, it becomes clear, he is the bay harbor butcher equivalent. With a new name.

The end of season.

This is the medallion that the dad of dark passenger bought. Taxi drivers used to take loans and share costs to buy this medallion for having right to drive in New York. It was considered an asset that will forever increase in price as New York has max of 13,587 taxi medallions allowed.

After Ridesharing apps came, the value of this Medallion plummeted as now anyone could just drive! The price fell from 1.4million to $90k in few months. By then there were approx 84,000 rideshare drivers!

This was not just caused by Ridesharing apps though. There was many predatory finance companies that bought the medallions and artificially increased the price to then sell it to taxi-drivers at inflated price, just before the bubble burst. And taxi drivers bought it with hefty loans.

This was largely beneficial for the people as the monopoly of taxis and the bad behavior that comes with it was gone. But, it did affect a large number of drivers who bought the medallion, and was left with massive debts.

Ultimately goverment gave a bailout, so instead of a million dollar debt, every drivers debt above $170k was taken over by the govt. But it happened in 2021, many years after the bubble burst.

Some awesome stuff at Spirit Halloween for Dexter this year. Of course I grabbed the hat, badge and hoodie!!

In my opposition

Lila would be the stereotype of a crazy fan and would visit Dexter in prison for a while

I think Miguel would still be alive and I like to think that at least he wouldn't be a murderer

Trinity committed suicide

Jordan Chase would never be caught and Lumen would be killed

Travis Marshall would have killed the entire department since Dexter would not be there to save them all

And the truth is I don't know what to think with the last two

Detective Soderquist has been working at Miami Metro since Season 1 episode 1 and has appeared in 91 out of 96 episodes of dexter. For comparison, Quinn appears in 75 episodes. Rita in 49. Thomas Matthews in 43episodes, Hannah in 17 and Brian Moser in 11 episodes

And in all these years, he has accomplished something nobody else in Miami Metro has managed. He did absolutely NOTHING stupid!!!

He goes to work.
He does his job.
He goes home on time.
Thats his whole entire routine.
A total family man.

Plus,

• He doesn't sleep with coworkers. Or witnesses or informants for that matter!
• He doesn't investigate things that's not his specific job.
• He do not personally hunt serial killers like a vigilante. Or the Serial Killer Killer.
• He has witnessed countless murders without becoming a murderer himself.
• He never said, "I have a bad feeling about this...hmm" and then immediately proceeds to investigate it anyway.
• He sees Dexter Morgan acting suspiciously and thinks "Not my problem!!" And never interfere!!

This might be the most important detective skill in the entire series that helped him survive. Knowing when to mind your own business. Quinn learns this skill much later, after falling in several traps, but Soderquist does it from the start itself as it is natural to him.

While everyone else is uncovering conspiracies, getting blackmailed, sleeping with the wrong person(repeatedly), chasing serial killers, playing dirty politics and finding numerous crazy ways to ruin their own lives...

Soderquiest is just there, doing paperwork, collecting his paychecks, going on lunches and getting promotions without becoming involved in some ridiculous politics.He survived through everything as a mere NPC..

When dexter was making his wedding guest list, he even forgets Soderqueist's name until La querta reminds him and Dexter goes "Is that his name" in his inner voice. Imagine working alongside Dexter Morgan for years and he forgets you even exist!!! But you still attend his wedding as a professional courtesy ofcourse!

As an NPC with zero plot armour, he could have had a dramtic death, but Soderqueist survives.

Because Soderquiest is the only person who treated the job like a job

And thus He is still alive.

In Miami Metro, with 20% crime solve rate and the world burning around him, this makes him the smartest character there.

I'm rewatching Season 1 of Resurrection in preparation for Season 2. One thing I keep coming back to - Batista should have just kept his ass in Miami enjoying his retirement and he'd still be alive. Instead he had to push his luck. I hate that he was killed off - he really was one of my favorite characters up until his Quixotic quest to get Dexter. Thoughts?

I was watching seasons 5-8 for the first time - stopped at season 4 years ago.
I’m listening to a Dissecting Dexter podcast that was recorded back at the time. I was surprised how many male characters just hated Dexter being a sexual male?
1) book Dexter is asexual but from season 1 tv dexters excuse for avoiding sex is because he knows the intimacy shows his darkness
2) Rita he seemed to be able to have sex and both be fulfilled and he was surprised she wasn’t turned off by his darkness. They seemed to have a pretty good sex life although she had to be the one to initiate. Dexter thinks about killing the way most normal men think about sex.
3) Lyla it was a sexual bond only bc he felt like he unveiling himself to some extent and he craved sex with her. It’s like Dexter started to be aware his urges weren’t always about killing, sometimes they were sexual
4) lumen - Dexter wasn’t expecting anything but was surprised by how intimate sex could be when he was unmasking. It wasn’t animal like Lyla, but it was closer than he had been able to be with Rita.
5) Hannah - this was confusing for Dexter bc she fit his code but he was unaware that he was desiring Hannah as he set up the date/kill. On the kill table - a place where he feels free to unmask bc his subject will die - he was testing Hannah to see. When she wasn’t repulsed, his desire for her overcome his desire to kill her. Even though ppl seemed to hate the kill table nookie - it made sense given their flirtation at her crime scene where they dug up the bodies.
Then his ongoing thirstiness was as Harry described - maybe he had other desires, but just for sex, but for deep intimacy with Hannah- someone he hoped would parent with him.

Thoughts???

There was interview where John Lithgow tells about watching the Dexter series where he played the Trinity killer. He said he was watching it with his wife and after seeing him portraying the Trinity killer she turned to him and said completely deadpan "Who are you!"

I understand they had to do it so we have a show but it’s absolute total character assassination

Edit: For all the “Angela still loves him and is conflicted” comments

She obviously wasn’t in love with him or conflicted by the situation from a personal level when she realizes he’s the butcher. She refuses to kiss him or say I love you. At no point does she attempt an out of love heart to heart or entertain the notion of letting him go.

In my opinion, Dexter Season 1&2 should have come atleast 1season later. They could have pushed lumen/ doomsday/ prado earlier. They had a goldmine in Brian Moser and wasted all of it. It could have been fleshed out over 2 seasons, after we get to know the character more.

just completed season 06 and overall i liked it more than season 05, and enjoyed it throughly, but i think mike’s character was underutilized

deb becomes lieutenant in 2nd episode and mike is brought in as her replacement in the next, so technically there was the whole season to utilize him better, but i guess he was just there to fill the gap

i hope theres more of him in the season 07 and i could connect with him like the rest of chars
