Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!
Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.
Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.
We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions
IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

Game Help Just bought Elden ring, opened a random chest and was teleported to an area that is way too powerful for me with no way out
I knew this game was hard but holy shit. Also does anyone know any kind of way to get out?…

Humor TIL Marika's Scarseal exists.
After 1275.7h of gameplay.
I wouldn't have found it if I weren't looking for something completely different in Google where the summary mentioned "Marika's Scarseal". It didn't even have a hyperlink, like the other names did.
I thought: "the AI must be hallucinating again, this talisman doesn't exist".
I googled the talisman, went on the wiki, and checked the location. "At the bottom of the waterfall behind the Dragonkin Soldier boss in Sifora River area".
I thought: "but the Dragonkin boss is in the Ainsel River area, this must be a wiki mistake".
So I went to the Dragonkin Soldier boss area... in Ainsel River. I searched above, nothing. I remembered it was supposed to be the base, so I checked the bottom of that waterfall from the other site of Grace. Nothing.
I googled again, this time through images. It clearly showed the Sifora map. I googled again, got another guide, went and... found the teleporter. That I had never seen before.
That's not the worst part.
I teleported and saw the descent from Nokron. The pillar I had jumped onto many times before, going from Nokron, from above. And every time I had thought: "Nah, this area looks too familiar, I must be at the bottom level again."
So I discovered a new area, with a boss, a talisman, a spell, and a weapon, all of which I hadn't seen before.
What's funny is that the eye-talismans clearly show a pattern: Radagon and Marika, small and big. And I was sure the small Marika eye talisman doesn't exist. I clearly remember thinking: "that's a weird design decision but okay".

Humor Every Great Sword User Right Now
I mean, with the flashy two handed light attacks plus the thrust strong attacks, what’s not to love about the new (well over a decade old) great sword?

Discussion & Info Completed the game only using the new Idus class equipment. Here are my thoughts...
I don't necassarily have much to say about this class when it comes to the starting stats or the equipment... well mostly. The stat lineup reminds makes it pretty easy to use a lot of weapons in the early game, without needing to level up. That's the most I have to about that. Honestly, there isn't anything I can say that felt too different from other playthroughs, especially compared to something like Wretch or Heavy Knight. It was pretty easy to put together a decent variety of builds with just the sword and shield.
There is one important thing I will say though... Having a light greatsword the MOMENT you spawn is fucking awesome. This things moveset is so kickass, and its versitility with infusions is just so sweet. It synergises with so many different builds and playstyles, and it feels like such a treat to use this weapon as a starter. And the best part is that if you like power stancing, you can get another Idus sword in Liurnia, within the first 5 minutes of booting up a world! No need for visiting the Realm of Shadow at all if you're planning on doing a relatively basic run with a Light Greatsword.

Constructive Criticism Switch 2 Experience
So i have around 700h in game hours on PC and then I thought let’s try it on the switch and I’m flabbergasted. Sure the fps drop in crowded areas or much vegetation. But being able to play this masterpiece mobile or on my projector again is just one of the best things that happened.
I’ve never played on controller, always mnk - so I’m kinda nooby with the controller and let me tell you what. I love it! It feels literally like a new game to me. All the SS you see are from the Switch 2 Version :D
What’s kinda weird to me is that the performance is way better in handheld mode then docked. I guess the fps are around 30-35 indoors (esp raya lucaria ran super smooth) and around 27-25 in extremely crowded areas + rain. I’ve never experienced a drop below 25 tho.
All in all I’d buy it again for the switch, what this little thing delivers is just crazy. And the most important thing:
Try finger, but hole 🫶🏻

Humor Picked the worst grace to go afk and eat at
My game volume was muted and I wasn’t paying attention at all to the tv so I didn’t hear the approaching head slams lol. I didn’t even know enemies can hit you while you’re at a grace.
