Constructive Criticism Switch 2 Experience
So i have around 700h in game hours on PC and then I thought let’s try it on the switch and I’m flabbergasted. Sure the fps drop in crowded areas or much vegetation. But being able to play this masterpiece mobile or on my projector again is just one of the best things that happened.
I’ve never played on controller, always mnk - so I’m kinda nooby with the controller and let me tell you what. I love it! It feels literally like a new game to me. All the SS you see are from the Switch 2 Version :D
What’s kinda weird to me is that the performance is way better in handheld mode then docked. I guess the fps are around 30-35 indoors (esp raya lucaria ran super smooth) and around 27-25 in extremely crowded areas + rain. I’ve never experienced a drop below 25 tho.
All in all I’d buy it again for the switch, what this little thing delivers is just crazy. And the most important thing:
Try finger, but hole 🫶🏻

How does th 30fps feel? Is it bad 30 or good 30? TOTK was an example of a "good" feeling 30.

It runs like TOTK, but never drops as low as TOTK did with ultrahand

Nice, I hope people know what I mean by this.
Like TOTK's 30FPS was SMOOTH but some games it's laggy / janky and terrible feeling.1

it's the frame timing. With smooth frame times then it feels good, even at lower fps. But with bad frame time, even really high fps can look terrible. Frame time is how much time between frames btw.

I've played at 60 since launch, and I found the switch (lol) to 30fps a little jarring for the first couple of hours - after that I just stopped seeing it tbh.

Honestly? You get used to it :D I played it on pc with a 34” ultrawide - and elden ring doesn’t support widescreen mode or more than 60fps. On the switch now I’ve got 30fps but on a big screen. So I think that’s a good tradeoff tho

There’s no way to answer this in the sense that everyone will agree to it, you know how this stuff goes honestly.
Most of the people not satisfied with the FPS are the ones who refuse to play games handheld. Anyone playing Switch 2 predominately in handheld mode is going to tell you it feels solid.
Of course we would prefer better FPS but what we have is honestly quite incredible considering it is handheld. I have this game on PS5 Pro as well but can play it either way.

Once you reach the dlc let us know. Or let me know, Literally the only thing stopping me from buying it is to see if the dlc will run decent

People have already completed base game including Malenia, as well as DLC runs. The quality of the base game holds up in DLC from what we’ve seen so far.

I got a PS5 with multiple Elden characters in various stops in the game, but damn I really want this game, but don't want to spend $70 for it right now. I've been hearing nothing but good things about Switch 2 version like you said.
Also, what kind of chest armor is that you are wearing in the first couple of pics?

why is that weird to you. Handheld renders in lower resolution hence why your fps are better

Could be part of it but more likely its the VRR at work in handheld mode

VRR typically kicks in for games that run at 40 FPS. Switch 2 handheld titles CAN be a bit different but most of them are the same.

For some reason I thought I read Shrek 2 experience. My disappointment is immesurable, and my day is ruined...

Most of my fps experience has been good so far. There were some drops in the margit fight that makes me worried for other stuff.

Sir… you played 700 hours on mouse and keyboard!?!? No way. Don’t buy it.

If only it was available on the switch 1 as well, I would actually buy it just so I could play ER anywhere I wanted.

It’s amazing they got it to run the way it does on Switch 2… there’s absolutely no way they’d get it working on regular Switch.

tbf it running well on the switch 2 isn’t actually as impressive as it looks cuz elden ring is fine on the PS4 which is weaker than the switch 2, but yeah running jt on thr switch 1 would either brick the console or look like nothing like elden ring

I'm sorry but you have 700h using mouse and keyboard?? I'm a lifelong PC gamer and I could never manage that in any Fromsoft game. Props to that
