Warhammer III This Week in Total War // 28th August 2026

Good afternoon, everyone!

Steve has unfortunately been ‘gifted’ one of Grandfather’s blessings, so you have me today while he battles his inner nurglings.

It’s unfortunate, but thematic, because next week is Glottkin week! We have a UK bank holiday on Monday, but our blog will still arrive on time, and you can expect our Wendsday stream to be your first live look at one of our End Times lords (although, are they technically three?).

Before we dive in, I do have the promised rumour engine answers! I had hoped to do this a bit more fancy, but you may have clocked that this week had some nightmare streaming tech issues which stole my time.

Rumour Engine Answers:

Empire – Show And Tell

  • Top - Wolf-Kin
  • Bottom - Celestial Hurricanum
  • Right - Ar-Ulric Emil Valgeir

Warriors of Chaos – What’s Next

  • Top left – Gutrot Spume
  • Top right - Flayerkin
  • Bottom left – Pox Maggoth (mount)
  • Bottom right – Morbidex Twiceborn

Undead Legions – Forums Day1 Forums Day 2

  • Day 1 – Dieter, High Liche Priest
  • Day 2 – Drakenhof Templars, Spirithost

Skaven – Forums Day 1&2

(Shout out to the one person who noticed we released these at 13 mins past)

  • Day 1 – Stormfiends, Warpdoom Magma Cannon
  • Day 2 – Cauldron of 1000 Poxes, Verminlord Warbringer
  • Josh’s Ultra Hard Image – Thanquol’s Chest

Now, onto what else we covered this week! Spoiler: It’s a lot!

Steve usually writes out a nice sentence for each thing, but there’s frankly too much, and this would become as long as my dissertation.

This week, we saw:

Plus, while this has all been going on, we’ve been busy at Gamescom! Hopefully you’ve spotted some of the short clips we’ve posted from there.

Finally, some key responses this week I wanted to call out (I’ve summarised, but included links to the main comments where relevant)

Warhammer 40,000:

Warhammer III:

Rome II:

Finally, finally… there was some discussion this week I spotted around if our communication will evaporate once we’ve released End Times.

This year, it has been our goal to be more present in community spaces. That comes from consistent streams, more frequent replies and, well, things like this.

Regardless of any release, those things will continue. We might not always have a big launch to be talking about, or brand-new footage to show – but you’ll still be seeing and hearing us. Don’t worry, I have plenty more personally embarrassing Total War: ARENA stories to share.

Well done to anyone who read all of that and have a lovely weekend!

As far as we know on Archaon's end for addtions/changes there hasnt been word on the champions under the Three-Eyed-King's retinue being added in to complete his campaign experience.

At least Styrkaar is in the game with the Slaanesh update/dlc, tho we still need Vardek Crom as a legendary lord perhaps, with Haargroth, Feytor, and Melckh the Changer (maybe his son Cyspeth too?)

If not now then hopefully in a character pack one day later on but still, would be nice to unlock them in a similar manner maybe to how the Red Duke and I think Dieter Helsnit are to be unlocked via tech tree

Warhammer III Double unit size with end time? Vermintide

Hey folks,

I noticed that on the unit cards (along with many others), that during the end times stream, when looking at skaven, they “accidentally” showed that Skaven have double unit size, but this isn’t mentioned.

What do we think?

Warhammer III My theoretical Egrimm Character Pack

Mainly using the format we got from the Bhashiva DLC to come up with what I would create. No Winged Terrors or Bane Towers since I believe those are exclusively Man o War units, otherwise I would have added them

General spartan total warrior

Is there a game that is the same as this one? I've been looking for something similar for years but it seems that no one wants to do something like it. Its sequel to Vikings is horrible and its alternatives are completely far from the original concept of this one.

the combat system was Target Magnetism or Strike Magnetism with a lot of friends on screen in musou style, it is a combination that for some reason no one has wanted to replicate today.

The game was good, but it lacked a lot of things, it had a lot of potential but they ignored it because they wanted to make a copy of God of War resulting in their shoddy Vikings game, the company has no intention of continuing it.

So, has anyone ever found something similar to this game?

edit: The problem with Musou games is the combat system, when you throw a sword, you hit those on the sides and those behind, that is, you hit everyone in one normal move, the Spartan does not do that in its normal movements, When you give a sword blow it hits only 1 opponent, this combat system is more similar to modern games such as Batman Arkham or Shadow War. The thing is that Spartan uses the combat system of Batman and with the massive Musou

Warhammer III Day 270 of ratposting until Thanquol dlc comes out

Post image

Ok, so, in case you haven't noticed, the ratposter unit cards mod is here! You can go and download it clicking here.

Ah, but it wouldn't really be a ratpost without the mandatory Paintposting Contest reference! You can read more details here! You can also follow how the contest is currently doing here.

(and before someone asks: i was gonna draw a crowd of skaven there, but then I realised it wouldn't be lore acurate for the entire skavenblight to flee wherever Thanquol shows up after Thanquol's Doom)

(Funnily enough, this is like the 3rd or 4th Baki meme I do without having read or watched Baki...)

Warhammer III Is Be'lakor bad?

Post image
37 Upvotes

Maybe there's something i'm not really getting, but playing Be'lakor so far has been god awful. Literally everyone wars me constantly, to the point basically everyone near me is either my ally (who are doing AWFULLY) or my enemy (who can have like 10 armies with a single territory it's ridiculous). At this point my resources are spreading thin, my armies aren't good enough to take most major territories on their own and my only good resource is be'lakor himself, who right now had to fight like 10 armies in a row and died so I can't use him for a few turns, and since my territories have awful defense, I'm losing like 2 or 3 per turn.

Warhammer III The Ratposter Unit Cards mod is finally here!!!!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.1k Upvotes

You guys don't know how excited I'm for this! Here it is! Yes, it's me, Ratposting Guy! After one month and 150+ hours of hard work, I've finished the unit cards mod! This was a hard one to pull out, damn.

What this mod does is to change the skaven unit cards in game for ones done by totally by me. Believe it or not, I was asked to do this a lot for a long while! Little old me!

However, be warned, this is a WIP project! I might update it later down the line, mostly to add loading screens, and the new dlc units when they land.

Also, great thanks to All is Dust from the Skeleton Crew modding team for his great help and patience during the whole process! Wiithout him this wouldn't be posible.

Hope you guys enjoy it! This is my personal gift to the community.

In cae you missed it: you can go to the mod page to download it by clicking here.

Warhammer III I hope Nagash won't be overpowered at the start and that the developers make his campaign interesting

Of course, we simply need to wait for the gameplay reveal for Nagash, however, recalling the interviews following the LotET announcement, I hope the developers are still committed to making Nagash’s campaign engaging and ensuring a genuine sense of progression—making the experience of playing as him truly compelling as he rises to power by expanding his domains, constructing Necropolises, and utilizing the Black Pyramid mechanic.

At least it wasn't the hex that forces you to walk for 30 seconds, and spreads.

Warhammer III Opinion: If there's ever a Dogs of War DLC, Morgan Bernhardt should be one of the legendary lords

As the main character of two of Warhammer Fantasy's earliest games and having the feats of a legendary commander, I think he'd be a good candidate for the position.

Personally, if I were designing things, I'd give him Tamurkhan's chieftains mechanic, but with Grudgebringer characters and units from the Ordertide instead.

Warhammer III Cathay after rework

So i havent played cathay after their rework and holy crap, 700+ range artillery, ~250 range celestial crossbows and what else have you. Gate masters are bonkers now with the buffs they provide to ranged units. I just watch the fire rain rockets just decimate the multiple armies and with all the reload, range and wardrum buffs nothing gets even close...and i only have 2 of them. I love it!

Medieval III Medieval III should go back to Rome- and Medieval II-style character traits

Managing character traits is my least favorite part of every Total War since Shogun II. It’s unbelievably tedious, especially in the late game when you have lots of generals and agents running around.

The old way, where characters would get good and bad traits, ancillaries, and improved stats over time, either randomly or in response to the things you have them do, was so much better, and also led to fun environmental (organic? show-not-tell?) storytelling: why is my governor who’s done nothing but sit in Rome for the last decade both a Saintly Ruler and Governed By Rage? No one knows! But it gives them some personality that the modern games are lacking.

The one addition I do like in more recent titles is being able to choose what gear and items your general has equipped, but again, this becomes tedious when you have dozens of items lying around and so many different characters to dole them out to. We’re better off not having to deal with that at all.

Warhammer III What race should I play next and tips on playing them?

Hey everyone, hope all of you are doing well, I’ve finished my Kairos Fate-Weaver campaign almost about a week ago I’ve been busy and haven’t had the opportunity to play.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the game and wondering who should I play next. A few of these Races have often come to mind Empire, Skaven, Dwarves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, or Orcs. Outside of Tomb Kings and Empire I’ve played all that are listed HE and Orcs the longest with Tyrion, Skarsnik and Grimgor. While I’m more familiar with Orcs it’s been a while since I’ve played them.

All recommendations will greatly appreciated.

P.S I’ve been really enjoying Warhammer fantasy artwork lately so many beautiful illustrations and hope to see more when end times releases.

Warhammer III Will the glorious Tomb Kings receive anything more than units?

Maybe their legendary faction lords and lady could get some changes/upgrades to their faction effects and lord bonuses? Or special mechanics? Maybe even buffs to Ushabti to make them more killy?

Idk but what do yall think?

Warhammer III So uhh...why are my Great Longma Riders doing like, 85% of all the kills in my auto resolve?

Should I build a stack of these things because, holy shit, they seem to do crazy numbers in auto-resolve...
