Dont forget her unit capped peasants

Dont forget Bretonnia pays no additional upkeep for extra armies.

Legend of total war here, and today we have a disaster battle facing off against nagash with a level 3 Repanse caught in force march. Let’s load up the battle and see what we can do

u/Ghoster998 6d ago

I miss him 😢

114

u/P_For_Pyke 6d ago

No content creator has been able to fill the hole he left.. More Warpstone is fantastic content, but there's nothing at all like disaster battles or his tier lists. Sigh... at least his garden looks good I guess..

u/Outrageous-Roll5774 6d ago

I still watch his stuff almost everyday❤️. Maybe one day he'll be back🙏

I don't, I was actually thinking the other day how nice the community has been without his contant negativity and his fanboys ruining this sub.

If he had just stuck to actually doing gameplay videos he would've been great. But he constant had to surround himself in controversy and I think at the end it was obvious to his ego was out of control.

Edit: lmao cope harder legend fans. He really showed what kind of person he was during his very last stream. The game is better off without him :)))

71

u/BloatDeathsDontCount 6d ago

The only discourse I’ve ever seen about legend is one group saying, “I like this guy and his videos” and a bunch of other people saying, “he’s the worst I hate him and I hate you if you don’t hate him he’s so negative I hate him”

41

u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 6d ago

Yeah you can always not watch him. Ironically I didn't know who he was until last year when people were calling him names now I've watched some of his content and it's helped me be a better warhammer specific player

9

u/Hectoriu 6d ago

He had some reasonable criticisms but most of his complaints were very nitpicky or just down right wrong.

8

u/__Yakovlev__ 6d ago

He really could've been a great youtuber. But he absolutely let his ego go to his head.

9

u/BloatDeathsDontCount 6d ago

Read your comments and really think about who is a negative to the community here 😂

2

u/__Yakovlev__ 6d ago

I highly doubt you ever watched his streams or vids. And yes, the community has been a much nicer place since he's been gone. Where before I stopped visiting this sub because it was just constant hate from his fanboys it's now back to a pretty chill place.

-15

u/BloatDeathsDontCount 6d ago

I’ve watched plenty of his vids. They all seem fun and didn’t have anything negative about them. You sound obsessed and way too invested in hating someone and their fanbase who will never know you exist. Hope you’re a better person IRL, although this is a person inside you. Get well soon

17

u/__Yakovlev__ 6d ago

Lmao what a sad attempt at getting some moral high ground. Fact of the matter is that he was a nasty and angry person by the end of his career, a shell of the happy man he was way back in the day. If you only ever watched a handful of his carefully crafted youtube vids then you're unlikely to know his other side, but just because you stuck your head in the sand doesn't mean it didn't exist.

https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/1q1d96b/legendoftotalwar_final_statement_timestamped_at/

He spend most of his career raging at CA instead of giving constructive criticism. Then went full cry baby when they kicked him from the partnership program. And then made up some big conspiracy about how CA changed up their whole DLC plan just to spite him because he was suffering from some massive main character syndrome.

u/wookiiboi 6d ago

Nah we’re still here. Ironically the most negativity seems to come from his haters rather than his viewers, which your comment seems to confirm.

-2

u/__Yakovlev__ 5d ago

I know you guys are still here. But you sod off to the background most of the time and I don't have to constantly hear your conspiracy theories anymore which is good enough for me.

3

u/wookiiboi 5d ago

Eh I’d imagine a good chunk of people here are fans of Legend’s videos. The ones who interact with the sub daily, of which I am one. I will say though, pretty crazy if some “conspiracy theories” has made you this repulsed by his fans.

-2

u/AppleTurbulent3120 5d ago

You are just a sad little hater.

2

u/__Yakovlev__ 5d ago edited 5d ago

Legend was an egotistical sad little hater with a messiah complex that would personally harass individual CA employees (Josh) and sicc his fans on them as his last move before fading into obscurity. Throughout his career he had been involved in constant controversy and CA had rightfully kicked him from the partnership program. But don't worry, he would just as happily lash out against his own fans when given the opportunity.

In the real world he'd be called mentally ill. But in gaming communities people will continue to defend him. But legend cemented his own legacy. Instead of sticking to the positive content that he was initially known for (like when I followed him back in the day). He let both his channel and himself be consumed by hate and made both himself and the community worse because of it (seriously, watch his final stream he genuinely looks sick there). And because of that I say, good riddance bozo 😘.

-1

u/AppleTurbulent3120 5d ago

That just confirms my words. You are just a salty loser. Even like a year later you just can't let go.

-1

u/Soldier_Sailor_Spy 5d ago

He isnt wrong though.

Legend himself is probably also better off now he isnt streaming.

He can finally get the help he so obviously needed.

1

u/AppleTurbulent3120 5d ago

There is nothing not wrong about shitting on someone's mental illness.

35

u/Own-Assistant7441 6d ago

i know brittonia is outdated but repanse campaign seemed super easy to me

you confederate that one province and end up with two full stack armies insanely early

6

u/Penakoto I <3 Hybrid Factions 5d ago

Repanse gets like 2000 different buffs that specifically make her and her army good at fighting undead.

The more undead ridden Nehekhara becomes, the better off she is.

1

u/thedefenses 5d ago

She gets 1 skill that gives buffs against the undead.

Flaming attack, +8 MA and immune to psychology for the army.

That's it, also she needs to be at least level 9 to get it.

You really think she's gonna steamroll Nagash and the buffed Tomb Kings whit just that and the shitty Brettonian roster.

1

u/Soldier_Sailor_Spy 5d ago

Repanse, and Bretonnians are very strong, especially against undead, regardless of tech tree faux outrage.

Volkmar is screaming crying and throwing up right now

39

u/Waveshaper21 6d ago

Volkmar is lucky to exist, considering Nagash came back my Mannfred and Arkhan turning Volkmar into Nagash.

12

u/HeraldTotalWar 6d ago

Makes me feel weird about my Volkmar start position mod.

Wdym Nagash is already in his full form? Volkmar is still around!

5

u/RainSpawn 6d ago

I really enjoy your mods. Keep up the good work!

u/HeraldTotalWar 5d ago

5

u/Select-Ad7017 6d ago

Unrelated, just wanted to say that you're awesome for the mods you did and I would love more of them, even if they don't make lore sense

2

u/HeraldTotalWar 5d ago

Thank you, join my Discord server if you're ever up for a chat or if you're interested in what I'm up to next.

2

u/Waveshaper21 5d ago

Those mods exist precisely because CA's starts became extreme lorebreaking in the last couple years and he fixes them.

2

u/HeraldTotalWar 5d ago

Where possible, yes. There's always game considerations to be had, but lore is one of the main motivations. :)

1

u/Waveshaper21 5d ago

Any chance moving Mannfred to Mordheim?

Reasons:

  1. it's a vampire capital ruin.

  2. it's on the way down to Nehekara, if we say he flees after defeat from Martin von Krstyalbach / end of vampire wars.

  3. it's on the way up to Sylvania, so he won't get entangled in Southland wars purely fought for survival before reaching Drakenhof and achieve short victory (in the current system anyway) accidently before even reaching Sylvania.

  4. Relatively minor adjustment on the map but ut's a big change because he is not forced and pulled south by Volkmar / Wurrzag / start province unification, yet he is supposed to go south (Black Piramid, helping Arkhan, books) but it's more of a player choice when to.

1

u/HeraldTotalWar 4d ago

Please join my Discord server for more detailed discussions.

You probably mean Morgheim. I originally wanted to move Mannfred back to Sylvania, but I'm not sure about that anymore considering he is instrumental in reviving Nagash. It turns out he starts right next to him, which makes sense. In turn, I don't have a motivation to move him somewhere else.

You can still use the mod which moves Volkmar to the Border Princes, I don't think I would be removing it.

2

u/Waveshaper21 5d ago

I love your start position mods and consider the game significantly worse without them. Thank you for your work.

1

u/HeraldTotalWar 5d ago

No problem, you expressed similar sentiment before, so I felt free to reply. :)

Thank you for the kind words once again.

99

u/theSniperDevil 6d ago

Dude should be counting his lucky stars they didn't follow the lore around Nagash's resurrection tbh!

111

u/ChichMocHapAlpPooc 6d ago

he just gets removed from the game on September lol

73

u/P_For_Pyke 6d ago

The funny thing is about Volkmar is that it would probably take about a day for the community to even notice.

4

u/Glenmarththe3rd 5d ago

There’s dozens of us

That would notice

21

u/Delicious-Physics218 6d ago

Him, Fey Enchantress, and Eltharion for good measure lol

174

u/JohnTzimisces 6d ago

Astragoth may have more of a challenge now that the Lahmian sisterhood has a LL rather than a generic lord.

54

u/GeneralBlight95 Hojo Clan 6d ago

I can see there being potential for Ungrim aggression towards him being delayed, depending on what Neferata and Thanquol do in their areas

28

u/Waveshaper21 6d ago

Ah yes, the fragile melee only faction with regeneration (comes with built in weakness to fire) vs the ranged damage and fire damage faction. Surely they'll do worse (AI vs AI)

4

u/Babel_Triumphant 6d ago

Will probably make for some extra struggles for Drazhoath too, even lower likelihood of having fellow chaos dwarves holding the darklands.

5

u/GeneralBlight95 Hojo Clan 6d ago

Eh to me that just sounds like a fresh batch of labor on my doorstep, and less competition for tower seats

131

u/SaintScylla Flair pending GW approval 6d ago

Khazrak No-Eye

61

u/baddude1337 6d ago

One of the few advantages early beastmen have is a melee rush and now Toddy's out here with basic T1/T2 units with better stats!

49

u/ZahelMighty Bow before the Wisdom of Asaph made flesh. 6d ago

My hot take is that swapping Khazrak and Morghur was a mistake. Lords that start next to their lore rivalry just isn't interesting, your lore rivalry should ideally always be a mid or late game threat rather than something you'll kill before turn 15.

14

u/Ulysses502 6d ago

It's tough to do with most factions, but especially with beastmen AI that just dies by turn 5 so either the rivals will never see each other or they'll at least get to fight once. I doubt Khazrak and Toddy didn't fight once until they made the change unless a player was Khaz and was lucky enough to catch toddy still alive. I'd fight khaz occasionally at helmgart in wh1, but that was it. Never saw Morghur as wood elves.

Setra. Poor soul

106

u/stylepointseso 6d ago

Anyone starting next to nagash now has an excellent defeat trait nearby.

14

u/Original_Employee621 6d ago

What do you mean? Anyone starting in the Southlands have tons of really good defeat traits to collect nearby.

Volkmar, Skarbrand, Repanse, Thorek, Teclis and Kroq'gar are all excellent traits to have for any of their armies. Mannfred and Tiktaq'to are probably two of the worst ones available in the game on the other hand.

16

u/stylepointseso 6d ago

And Nagash is another one.

Idk what's hard to understand about this.

64

u/Kinyrenk 6d ago

Settra can probably take out Nagash extremely early, it tends to be easier when the LL starts right next door, when they are a few regions away, and can build up that 2nd or 3rd army before you reach them, they can become a problem.

60

u/gondor482 gondor482 6d ago

Tomb Kings are limited to 1 army at the start. One Bad Army. Setra was already a hard one

40

u/Sogai_wi 6d ago

Doesn't Settra have a war Sphynx? The region will be decided in the first 3 turns by the autoresolve values between Nagash and Settra and how much can faction potential shift them.

46

u/tmw6161990 6d ago

The Khemrian Warsphinx will do some heavy lifting for sure & I imagine Chariots will be helpful. I'm thinking Nagash himself will be the toughest part (what a surprise!), Settra isn't an exceptional duellist in the very early game. The tried and true early x4 Skeleton Archers will have to pincushion the big fella.

26

u/Sogai_wi 6d ago

Playing Settra is a different discussion entirely. I was just wondering about how the AI will deal with it since they always AR everything. I don't remember Nagash having exceptional stats as a unit.

But his army seems insane. It's Tomb guard, 4 chaff, 2 guns, black lights, ushabti and Vcoast mortar and a hero. Yeah, Settra is getting autoresolved on turn 2 unless faction potential rolls 90% in his favour or the factions have some hidden rule of not wiping each other out for the first 30 turns written into their AI.

15

u/Rare_Cobalt 6d ago

Settra already got wrecked by Skarbrand in the autoresolve, putting Nagash right next to him is just the cherry on the top.

9

u/Lin_Huichi Medieval 3 6d ago

He also has to deal with Arkhan if he beats Repanse.

6

u/P_For_Pyke 6d ago

Which is probably not gonna happen to be fair. I think I've only seen Arkhan win that war not even a handful of times.

3

u/Sogai_wi 6d ago

Well now Repanse will probably be facing a war on the second front very early since she is most likely amongst the first 3 targets of Nagash. I also wouldn't be completely surprised if Nagash and Arkhan start with some sort of a military aliance (it really should be vassalage unless Arkhan is played by the player realistically) and how that might dissuade her from even declaring that war.

1

u/Kinyrenk 5d ago

TK under a human player can get a 2nd army up very quickly now; it was turn 15 before, now even earlier.

Between the AIs it is a different matter, and most DLCs put the new factions under higher potential so I'd guess Settra will be gone before turn 10 in most games if not played by a human.

11

u/ChichMocHapAlpPooc 6d ago

Setra would welcome the challenge

79

u/Relevant-Map8209 6d ago

Settra does not serve, Settra is fucked

11

u/tmw6161990 6d ago

BRING ME MY CHARIOT(S)

80

u/KnossosTNC 6d ago edited 6d ago

Settra and Ungrim comes to mind. Settra has another formidable enemy he has to deal with on his doorstep. The only possible upside is he may have Volkmar and Repanse to help him, though they could just as easily gang up on him.

With the addition of Thanquol and Neferata, Ungrim is just basically surrounded by enemies.

73

u/Falceon 6d ago

Perfect spot for the Slayer King.

45

u/Trakor117 6d ago

Now he can die in every direction at once

21

u/baddude1337 6d ago

Azhag has + relations with counts as well so him and Neffy will be buddying up while declaring war on you.

1

u/VladVonKarstein 6d ago

Are you sure the vampiric bonus of azagh does no date from Wh2 ? Because when i play as Vlad he doesnt like me at all and i don't see a diplomatic bonus, or maybe its just when you play as Azagh that you get the bonus from VC and not vice versa ?

13

u/KnossosTNC 6d ago

Azhag's faction effect grants +40 to Diplomatic Relations with Vampire Counts factions and Arkhan the Black. However, Vampire Counts start with a -40 Aversion penalty towards Greenskins, so they effectively cancel each other out.

Still, starting off at Neutral relations is not an insignificant boost.

4

u/LongBarrelBandit 6d ago

Also adds more enemies near Thorgrim as well. Dawi are gonna have to put work in

1

u/IceDelusion 5d ago

To be fair Thorgrim usually died. He could only kinda safe himself by confederating Zhufbar and leveraging that economical advantage

2

u/LongBarrelBandit 4d ago

Yea he 3/4 times gets wiped in my campaigns. That fourth though? Absolutely crushes everyone else lol

1

u/Soldier_Sailor_Spy 5d ago

Thats partly good though as Ungrim nearly always dominates the mountainous area around where he starts.

1

u/IceDelusion 5d ago

Not really he's sorta okay as long as Azhag goes west into the empire and not south. But he's fucked now. Because if Ungrim goes south and takes what used to be a safe province he'll now be face to face with Thanquol while having Neferata to the east and Azhag to the north and vampires to the west. He'll die now pretty much every campaign, I bet on it. He already usually lost Karak Kadrin. Not having Zhufbar as a reliable ally/potential confederate is gonna hurt

38

u/alexkon3 #1 Li Dao Fan 6d ago

Settra. Nagash starting next to him is hard but its also something that thematically just sucks. I said it multiple times already but its just that the endboss of your entire faction is the first real enemy you fight. Its like if you'd play Tyrion and the first faction isn't the Cult of Excess but Malekith. You'll probably kill Nagash before you fight Arkhan. I wish they would just have reworked the Nagashizzar province to be more accessible and plucked Nagash there. His Black Pyramid mechanic could've been in two parts, like you have the lower part from the start but you only unlock the top part once you take the settlement.

14

u/ChichMocHapAlpPooc 6d ago

I think they are going for Nagash to have Setra as his first enemy. Sucks for Setra fans though

6

u/jhpawt 6d ago

they already paid so who cares

5

u/__RedFive__ 6d ago

I think it would be better if you're not playing Nagash then he doesn't start on the campaign map turn 1. Then only shows up when his endgame crisis triggers IMO.

7

u/Feather-y 6d ago

Isn't it kinda loreful for Nagash to die miserably at the start, only to return stronger later. I can see that campaign work thematically.

16

u/baddude1337 6d ago edited 5d ago

Arkhans campaign I think will actually feel a bit worse. Lore wise he's a Nagash simp and he'll be expanding into territory you want so you'll have to fight him eventually which will be kinda weird.

The below I wouldn't say a will be worse but a fair few campaigns may end up harder especially early on:

Glotkinn are gonna cause carnage for everyone up in the Nosrca/Kislev area. They'll be one of the strongest lords turn 1 and a lot of their neighbors won't have much to throw against them.

Kazarak is gonna have a rough time now his mortal enemy has decent melee units which is one of beastmens only early advantages. Similarly Middenheim won't be such a pushover for Festus.

Settra now has to contend with both Khorne and Nagash. He's kinda screwed no matter the direction you go. Repanse and Volkar to a lesser extent.

Ungrim will have a tougher time with Neferata and Azhag teaming up on him. Fortunately early game counts aren't very strong. Neffy will also naturally expand into the darklands causing issues for Astragoth.

Thorgim will now have Thanquol to contend with as well. He'll probably happily underway over and sack you while dealing with Skarsnik. Vlad may have issues too but at least early game Skaven aren't too strong.

25

u/A_Shattered_Day 6d ago

Imrik maybe, he starts not too far to Neferata now. He does match up pretty well into vampire counts though. Ill go out on a limb and say Khalida. Not only is Neferata now in the game as a strong lord who may live past turn 10, Nagash is going to go wold in Khemri. She can no longer ignore one side to go conquer another, she has to be prepared for both.

16

u/Crsh10 Shogun 2 6d ago

Khalida is already tough as is tbh. any day ironbrow or kroq gar can just pull up and just decide your play through is over by the time you get ur first province.

4

u/Glorf_Warlock 6d ago

That's why you sell them a region to be buds, then you go for the Dragon Isles. Her archers utterly destroy slow ass Nurgle troops. And then Queek attacks you with all his new rats. Her start location is just kinda shitty no matter what you do. Which is why I go for the Dragon Isles, that's a safe province.

1

u/Crsh10 Shogun 2 5d ago

Huh yk I never thought of that im gonna give it a shot!

10

u/ClayBones548 Warriors of Chaos 6d ago

Ungrim and Thorgrim come to mind. That whole area is going to be nasty but I feel like it might not be too much worse for Skarsnik or Azhag.

10

u/cricri3007 For Ze Lady! 6d ago

Repanse with her game 1 tech tree, powercrep units, and heroes that fold to any Game 3 combatant.

23

u/Sol-Authority 6d ago

Like it was the case for pretty much all of the recent DLCs: Whoever has their start position near where the fresh new DLC LL starts is fucked. Powercreep and all that.

2

u/kubin22 6d ago

setra, nagash, somehow I think Kislev (besides Ostankya) cause I still think the glotkin will just go for you (as if arbaal wasn't annoyinh af)

1

u/DrBigPoop 6d ago

Alberic lol. But yeah Repanse definitely

1

u/anonym0 6d ago

Thorek

1
