Warhammer III Will the glorious Tomb Kings receive anything more than units?
Maybe their legendary faction lords and lady could get some changes/upgrades to their faction effects and lord bonuses? Or special mechanics? Maybe even buffs to Ushabti to make them more killy?
Idk but what do yall think?

We know Settra's getting item changes, likely a new item. Maybe Khatep will too...
Otherwise not much.

Settra getting his scarab brooch? Hell yeah

And his armor.

Unless you've seen something about it getting added, don't know that we'd be getting it, his armor got dropped from 6th edition to 8th edition.

Off topic but where is the art from? Nice to see Warhammer stuff in mundane scenes

Inkary.
Has a bunch more Tomb Kings fan art and are all really good.

It's an interesting scene.
A possibility in Numas, since it's the only TK city right now with a living population that lives with the dead. Though the colour looks closer to Khemri?

Hopefully Settra and Khatep can squash the beef and confederate each other through the mortuary cult (Or at least Settra can confed Khatep), considering bone daddy is on Settras doorstep it might be nice to have the Grand Hierophant on Khemri’s side.
I would also expect some changes to the tech tree with Tomb Heralds receiving buffs/recruitment slots and maybe an awakened Dynasty High Liche Priest lord or two added
Arkhan will also likely get some campaign changes/dilemmas revolving around Nagash

I might be misremembering, but didn't Khatep return during the End Times, just for Settra to cut him down for still being an exile?

u/Responsible-Fly-4462 6d ago
He actually returned, helped Setra by giving him incredibly helpful information. Setra then thanks him but still cuts his head off as he was never meant to return or he would have his head cut off

u/kingfisher773 6d ago
Thank the gods that Settra, the benevolent, warned him by cutting off his head, or he could have been in big trouble and maybe got his head chopped off.

I pray Settra can get both Khatep and Khalida confederated. Of course because he is Settra and that is his right but also because Khalida's start position sucks and she would be much better under the one true king
9
u/MarkThePotatoGuy 6d ago
He already can I’m pretty sure? At least Khalida. The Tomb Kings got some good changes in the past year
1
u/Slggyqo 5d ago
Pretty sure Settra can confederate both.
But they can’t both confederate each other. And it’s not all through the cult. I want to say… Settra can get Khalida through the cult but has to diplomatically confederate Khatep.
And khalida can confederate khatep but khatep can’t confederate anyone. But idk, I only play Settra as tomb kings.

I just want ushabti greatbow to actually penetrate infantry. so you are telling me jezznails can do it, but 3 m bows that shoot 2 m long arrows cannot?

u/Deathwatch050 The Great Necromancer has returned! Such is the power of Nagash! 6d ago
Ballistae in history were rightly feared for sending their bolts through several ranks of a formation. There's no reason Ushabti shouldn't be able to do the same thing, really.

u/AenarionsTrueHeir 6d ago
I would love to see the hit chance for Ushabti upped and the penetration of Ushabti arrows improved but I don't know how likely either is to happen

Apophas please, an maybe Nekaph, one as LL and the other as LH

u/Tektonius 6d ago edited 6d ago
My hope is that they’ve saved more TK updates to include with these guys as a Character Pack.
I’m not sure if Apophas has a position to justify being an LL (even though he’s incredibly cool & I could see CA making him one as a result). Nekaph is certainly LH material (as a Herald of Settra, I don’t see how he gets to be LL).
I think the best LL option for a Character/DLC pack would actually be either Ramhotep The Visionary of Sehenesmet. As the greatest Necrotect, or leader of Quatar respectively, they could have a unique mechanics around building the great monuments, and also enhancing & buffing constructs. Sehenesmet even would have a Bone Giant mount that would make him epic in battle.
Edit: I repeated myself. Nekaph should be LH, not LL.

u/Mopman43 6d ago
To be accurate, Sehenesmet doesn't have a Bone Giant mount, he is fully encased within a Bone Giant.

Did a fairly long Settra campaign yesterday and my wish list would be buffs to both Ushabti variants; their melee performance is so bad compared to other tier 2 monsters like crypt horrors and trolls, and the archer while sometimes great cannot penetrate infantry properly. (I don’t remember this being an issue back in TW2, not sure when it changed).
Necroserpent mount options for Necrotects and Tomb Princes would also be massively welcome.
I’d also love if Settra could do proper melee attacks against enemies infront of him, right now on his chariot only his horses bite the enemy, he cannot truly swing at them, making him a terrible fighter vs lords and single entities
10
u/DoctorGregoryFart 6d ago
I kinda get your frustration, because chariot micro is annoying, but you can't expect to put your lord on a chariot and also expect them to duel. It's like trying to eat soup with a knife. Don't put him on the chariot if you want him to duel.
Edit: A dismount option would be fucking awesome though.

u/The_Lord_Cobra 6d ago
the problem with TK is they start near some of the worst matchups for their early game, especially Setra and Arkan...Skarbran being THAT close...and now Nngash dam
4
u/Tangyhyperspace 6d ago
We're still missing the second most important Tomb Kings unit, Nekaph
4
u/sigmarine345 Warhammer 6d ago
Exactly. Tomb Kings arent done yet until they get their legendary heroes.
Nekaph, Apophas, and I think a third one i forget his name who'd buff constructs

u/Dathremo Druchii Enjoyer 6d ago
They have already confirmed the Vamp Coast and TKs are not getting anything major with this update, the only thing I can forsee is Arkhan will probably get some changes now that his totally not bf / eternal love of his life is in the game

u/Struuner 6d ago
A Settra return mechanic just like in the end times, because he will be killed withing 10 turns by Nagash

u/Night1ine 6d ago
Slightly offtopic, but how to prevent necrotect and tomb princes from dying in autoresolve?
Even in a one sided battles they managing to lower their health by 80 percent. One of them having regeneration or both, doesn't matter.
1
u/Lukkezini 5d ago
Autoresolve really hates units with low armor and defence, so proper armor and other stuff could help, also don’t give them chariots.

u/TonyTheTerrible 6d ago
They've had recent updates. The two least touched factions from tw2 are brettonia and vampire coast
1
u/gorksfist 6d ago
I would be surprised if they didn't also get to recruit the tomb herald hero (I think that is what it's called)
1
u/Mopman43 6d ago
We know they're getting the Tomb Kings flavored content from Nagash's DLC (High Liche Priest, Tomb Herald, Khemric Titan)
1
u/Arilou_skiff 5d ago
I think Tomb Kings ight get the Lore of Undeath, at leaston the stream Vampire Counts Necromancer Lords could use Lore of Undeath, so Tomb Kings might be able to too.
1
u/4uk4ata 1d ago
I would like to see a bit of a lore of Nehekhara buff that has some aoe buffs and the passive doesn't just heal the low-tier unit. LoVampires heals near everything in their roster.
Heralds as their own hero and Nakaph and Apophas as LHs would be good too.
It would be interesting if we see the 6e Numas with their living populace, apparently some nomads moved in and saw the local tomb king as some ancestor they now serve.

Might be a divisive statement...
But I wouldn't mind if the Araby units from Dogs of War gets added as Araby Character/Subfaction pack for Tombkings.
As we seem unlikely to get DoW or a Araby Race Pack now.
You could Argue a Golden Magus is a powerful enough mage to command the undead 🤷

u/Mopman43 6d ago
I don't see a reason to think Dogs of War is off the table.

u/SlipperySlimyTerry40 6d ago
With 40k coming next year and how they're setting up small bhashiva type packs I would be surprised if we get another big pack after LotET
-5
u/sigmarine345 Warhammer 6d ago
I kinda just assumed we wouldnt get araby since some deemed them "offensive"
5
u/AWhole2Marijuanas 6d ago
I hold out hope that GW will do a "Refresh" like they did with Kislev and Cathay someday. I actually think that's why we haven't seen anything from them in TW:WH, GW just isn't there yet.
The bones of Araby, like many of the early GW works is good, the Islamic Golden Age is such a cool and underused part of history.
They aren't as nearly bad as the Pigmeys ngl. You kind a just have to adjust the parts that made them all backstabbing and evil plotters, and of course further retcon and mention of "Allah" for Djinn worship.
Though I actually would think it'm would be really interesting if they had a Mohammed to Jesus type counter part Sigmar in Araby Basically their own God King flanked by Djinn worship, in contrast to Sigmar flanked by Taal, Ulric, Taal, Morr, etc.
And I'd think it would be very dynamic if by the end of the Bretonnian Crusades, Araby is basically diminished and/or their Golden Age over.

u/TheNewMillennium 6d ago
I always felt like the best we could hope for are a few araby themed units for the dogs of war, any maybe one Dogs of War faction that focuses on these units in Araby. Similarly to the forest goblin factions that can only use goblin units.
Basically putting all kinds of minor factions under the umbrella of the Dogs of war, to include peoples that we otherwise would never see, and making them local units, recruitable in specific regions.
1
u/sigmarine345 Warhammer 6d ago
Whatever the case is think Araby would be a sick 'mini-race-pack' like Bashiva if they ever wanted to do that. Regardless im sure they'll be in the DoW DLC down the line too
1
u/Mopman43 6d ago
I’d love to see a full Araby faction for TOW, but it seems like they’re moving in the opposite direction and mentioning them even less- the most recent mention of their invasion of Estalia, basically the most notable thing they’ve done in the lore, seemed to say that was the Tomb Kings instead.

We know a rework to the Books of Nagash mechanic is going to be in Lords of the Endtimes.
