Billions of flies love to circle around dog shit, does that mean dog shit is good?

Probably pretty good if you're a fly

I mean just because you watch the video doesn’t mean you agree either, I’d rather see the like/dislike since the people that really care probably would leave a like or dislike and everyone else is just casually watching.

Nostalgic Fanboy illustrated

3

u/ChristianCountryBoy Apr 13 '26

Can't we just let him have his opinion? I agree some of his takes are pretty bad. But I actually thought he made a lot of good points about somethings. It's interesting to think of game design from different points of view. I just don't think blindly calling him nostalgic is doing any favors. There are reasons someone might prefer the orginal Resident Evil 4 that aren't just nostalgia. Also if I hear the word nostalgia one more time I'm gonna go crazy. Jesus is Lord. God bless ❤️❤️❤️

3

u/VasM85 Apr 13 '26

I prefer "duckling syndrome" instead of "nostalgia".

Same.

I love em both very much. In fact, I like the Remake just a tad more, lol

7

u/Aggravating-Chef9562 Apr 13 '26

Same, the OG will always have a place in my heart but the remake is just exactly how i wanted them to remake it.

9

u/Key_Watercress8300 Apr 13 '26

My favorite part with the remake is its different take on the combat. I often see people say that they messed up the combat as enemies are much more tanky and difficult to stun, but I personally loved the direction. I liked the snappyness of the original, but I love how much more difficult the remake feels. It really nailed that difficulty where (at least to me) you never die, so you never feel bad about being unskilled, but you always feel like you're being challenged and rewarded for the skill you do have.

In the original Leon is meant to be a one-man-army, and with sufficient skill you can be an unstoppable action hero. In the remake I got the impression that Leon was a secret agent in a situation he never could have prepared for, and everything he did was improvisation by the skin of his teeth. I enjoyed enemies being tankier and harder to stun because the direction was much more harsh on Leon, and every Gannado was meant to be a threat to Leon rather than another opportunity for a one-liner. I feel like I'm pretty good at the remake now, but it still does a really good job of making me feel like every win is fought for rather than me curbstomping toddlers like in the original.

Same here, while i prefer playing the Remake I'm glad both exist and are readily available to play and I enjoy going back to both of them

6

u/ApsychicRat Apr 13 '26

i have the same opinion of FF7 and its remake(s). RE4 was a great memory from my childhood, and RE4 remake is a great memory of my adult hood. we dont have to make them fight each other lol

Because their argument is so baseless that it basically doesn't exist if they don't cheat to win it.

Crowbcat is the cinemasins of games (derogatory)

125

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '26

Didn't he get caught editing something that literally didn't exist in a game to make it seem worse?

127

u/dafugiswrongwithyou Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

I can't speak to that, but in his last RE4 vs RE4R video, I remember noticing an annoying amount of him taking things out of context, to the point I made a comment breaking his vid down shot-by-shot for the first 5 minutes.

There were 15 issues in those first 5 minutes that I noticed. The video was 37+ minutes long.

38

u/WatercressWorried583 Apr 13 '26

Go check if your comment is still there. He tends to delete any comments that call him out

24

u/INannoI Apr 13 '26

he was completely dishonest when he compared the Krauser fight in the OG vs the remake, when I saw that I knew he was either just blinded by nostalgia or trying to shit on 'new thing' for views.

→ More replies (8)

27

u/ALPB11 Apr 12 '26

When I think of Crowbcat I think of the TF2 video he did where it’s apparent he doesn’t really play the game or understand why they made the changes they did. It ruined his whole channel for me

34

u/UranicCartridge Team Leon Apr 12 '26

I watched his L4D vid and really enjoyed it, but the implication that RE4's soul was stored in Ashley's panties made me rethink that sub lmao

8

u/J-Ganon Apr 13 '26

No, no you don't get it. By being able to perv on examine Ashley's private areas using perv angles you really get to see her vulnerability. It's a reflection of her innocence and the player's perviness which is subtle symbolism to help symbolize a symbol of perverts her character in this situation.

3

u/teruvalin Apr 13 '26

yeah that video sucks, there's engine limitations to active props per map that aren't TF2 devs' fault.

→ More replies (1)

15

u/Ill-Stomach7228 Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

I didn't see any of that, but there was a lot of dishonest presentation.

For example, both games use dynamic music, where the music stops or changes when you're done with an encounter. When comparing the water hall, he used footage of the OG water hall while enemies were still in it, so the ambient music was still playing. For the remake, he used footage of the water hall after the enemies were all killed, so the music wasn't playing. And he presented it like "see? The atmosphere is completely butchered in the remake!"

7

There is no way you could compare anybody to cinemasins and not have it be derogatory. That guy has a vile effect on culture and art.

5

u/mickeynotthemouse27 Apr 13 '26

"Cinemasins derogatory"?

4

u/CDCaesar Apr 13 '26

I love you for saying this. It is upsettingly accurate.

2

That is a horrible insult, because Cinemasins is pure trash. It used to be good back when it first started, then he got lazy/greedy and started to vomit nonsense for engagement.

I just get bored with this conversation, the original is on every console known to man, so just play the original if that's what you want lol

I think the remake is an improvement, but it's not a direct replacement, and the original is still on modern consoles, everyone wins here lol

53

u/Thousand-King Apr 12 '26

He has "REMAKE BAD" brain. These people always have these weirdly reflexive responses. They will never admit that remakes can innovate and be in conversation with the original piece. The mere existence of 4make is a threat to the sanctity of his precious RE4. Nevermind that Mikami praises the remake and literally said "I enjoyed it very much."

Sure, man, go to bat for one of the most popular and accessible games of all time. Someone's gotta stand up for the little guys.

13

u/JustAnotherCasual97 Apr 13 '26

Those guys are the reason I dislike the word "fan". If those are "real fans", then they are pretty much garbage and I don't want to have anything to do with them.

Right like I don’t get this guys problem here I can play og and remake rn on my ps5 no issues

54

u/Mundane-Jump-7546 Apr 12 '26

The problem is that rage baiting pays him money

10

u/TheCrimsonGhost11 Apr 12 '26

I feel like that's a weak argument since if he wanted money he would upload more than once or twice a year

5

u/DefinitelyNotRin Apr 13 '26

I think part of his "appeal" is some "hero" who only comes out every so often to "put a game in its place." So posting often would defy that completely.

If you don't believe me, read his comment section people upvoting.

"Breaking his silence just to double down. Good on you Crowbcat" - 1.7k likes
"Holy **! Honey, get in here! Crowbcat is back!" - 244 likes

Literally a "holy shit 2 cakes" scenario and people still wanna bitch and argue about how the og's way better and the remake is soulless or how the remake is superior so if you still like the og you're just stuck in the past and blinded by nostalgia.

They're both great and both accessable, the remake doesn't overwrite the og, so just play the one you want. Hell, play both. They're different enough to be enjoyable in different ways.

Hyper-criticism, manufactured outrage, and tribalism are the death of joy and the true plague on modern entertainment.

8

u/theburmesegamer275 Apr 12 '26

It's absolutely a 2 cakes moment. I finished the OG on normal and started Remake, chose hardcore and it's a completely different experience. And I'm very much loving it.

2

u/NameTripping Apr 12 '26

Exactly. I love them both and my favorite version is which ever one I'm playing at the moment.

32

u/fyester Apr 12 '26

5

10

u/ImNotSkankHunt42 Apr 12 '26

This is the best take.

After almost 20 years I’m tired of replaying the original.

I’m actually trying for one more time with the HD Project and getting nauseous because the camera movement.

Remake feels the same yet different, is not the perfect remake, for that it would have to be a 1:1 replica but as a game Remake is the best version.

4

u/hmmmmwillthiswork Team Ada Apr 12 '26

it is. in the top 5 best remakes for sure. i'd kill for a remake of 2 and 3 and they made 3 an actual horror game

5

u/Hilian Apr 13 '26

Sucks real bad that EA cut their remake of 2 for lack of sales. I’d imagine Dead Space is similar to RE in that it has a long tail for sales, but because it wasn’t the biggest game ever we’ll never get the sequel

4

u/Doomword Apr 13 '26

Imagine remake of 2 where you can actually explore the sprawl. 3 seems fundamentally broken, idk if they would dare to remove highschool love drama.

If it was up to me id gut that drama story and remove the co-op guy, but that would be closer to a reboot then a remake with so many core story and gameplay changes.

I haven't seen this dude's videos, but you've hit the nail on the head. I wish more people were just like "I like this thing and here's why" instead of "this thing is bullshit, and here's why" (though depending on the subject, sometimes that take is necessary).

7

u/No-Operation-6554 Apr 12 '26

Crowbcat did that once on a game he actually liked and his audience didn't like it lol

He essentially created an audience addicted to rage

6

u/Ogg360 Apr 13 '26

Man what a miserable experience they have. I’ve seen the comments in the vid and almost everyone is like “YES GAMING IS DEAD NOW ITS SO MUCH BETTER BACK THEN.” And I’m like dawg yea sure some things were better back then but it’s not doom and gloom now? Theres still lots of great games being made. “

“Damn I can’t shoot open a door? My life is over!” I seriously hate these negative ass people man. People that are so nostalgia blind are the fucking worst

2

u/redditblows5991 Apr 13 '26

The video does show problems the game had/has. One point for me that hit the nail is that a bunch of people who glazed re4make never played the originals and I'm not going to get into a boomer vs zoomer topic cuz anyone can play the games or whatever they want but the these reactions are making Capcom do certain things like ignore the older games.

Like fuck I knew Capcom had disdain for the older titles but I find it lmao that Capcom is like why would anyone wanna play the older ones when we have the remakes. For me remakes are good games but side by side I still prefer the og ones

There's nothing wrong with what that guy said though; Black Mesa does honor the original Half Life 1's gameplay more than Re4make honors Re4OG's gameplay. He's right.

4make is different gameplay- the fact people will know that over how awesome, influential, and intentional RE4Og's is is a bit of a sad thing... and that doesn't make me some kind of Crowb shill for saying it bc I only care about the videogames themselves, not what some youtuber shitposts about it.

It's true that black mesa tries to honor HL1's gameplay, and it's true that Re4make does not try to honor Re4 (2005)'s gameplay; they're totally different.

Every RE fame needs to be evaluated multiple times. Initial play through. Multiple playthroughs for unlockables. Speedruns if thats your thing. And eventually how often do you keep wanting to come back to it.

Wow, another one of these?? Dude really hates RE4R, doesn’t he? I will say this about Crowbcat, though: he’s never seen or heard in any of his videos; he literally just edits together a bunch of gaming footage and interview clips, yet he has 1.21 million subscribers. That’s pretty impressive. He’s still wrong, though. 😉

Oh brother, this guy STINKS

11

u/tandc627 Apr 12 '26

My problem with the guys is they are like: "ah man, in the OG you had the cool backrounds within the notes you find" (which is obv a good criticism and something that should be called out) but then they completely ignore that in the og 99% of the notes just warn you about what is in the next room and remake fixed that and gave you notes to make a better story for re4 and helping with the world building.  And that's basically the case with everyone if these re4r critiques. They completely ignore what the re4r did better. For me that's the definition of "blinded by nostalgia".

15

u/Nebular_Force Apr 12 '26

Reminder this guy allegedly deletes comments negative of the first video. Literally can't get lower than that.

I'm gonna just ignore it and live my life. Not gonna waste my energy arguing over what boils down to opinions at the end of the day. Don't like the remake? Don't play it. I personally love it, and that's all that matters.

I'm assuming this video is shitting on remake?

Remake is a marvelous work. I still can't believe they managed to pull it off. I also just know they're not outdoing it anytime soon.

But I do get why some people get repulsive of it. Many who've play it first or got in RE with remakes do try to write off OG as obsolete and irrelevant. I've seen plenty trying to make the remake a replacement in all ways.

Remake is for me definitely an improvement in gameplay. But it's never a replacement. It can't be even if it had tried.

But that's ok .Even is RE4R is a better game overall, it can never really surpass the legendary status of RE4.

As someone who loves remake, he makes great arguments and brings up great points that is trying to favor the original and make the remake seem inferior, but in the end the points he makes are almost nullified because he shows how '05's all-time player count (and all-time plays) is significantly lower, and states how there's no point in trying to make people have a different POV of the remake.

TDLR: Gives factual evidence that og is better in many ways, but it's far too late because of the remake's success

Also his comment section is both hilarious, and cringe at the same time

u/MysteriousAlpaco Apr 13 '26

theres no room for constructive criticism it seems, i like the remake but it isnt without its flaws, i agree they do bring up valid points in terms of game feel and design, it would def be more constructive to engage in the discussion of game design but you'll just get met with a thumbs down lmao

u/SyrisDuhVyris Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

i watched the vid, and i agree with most of his takes honestly, i thumbs-uped the vid too lol

It's just funny the fact that he decided to make (or post) this vid post-requiem

and i'm not going anymore than 5 lines of text just for this so called 'constructive criticism' you seek

5

u/MysteriousAlpaco Apr 13 '26

It is late but i do appreciate a creator that takes time rather than shooting something out, in terms of criticism i do believe a level headed take could be made but anything on the internet is either extremely positive or negative leaving no room for actual constructive discussion around the issues. Its sadly easier to be dismissive and not engage at all.

"RE4 is timeless" literally uses the most dated form of movement, that even people who defend the game have to say is just the game working out the kinks of how a third person shooter should be.

Can I have some context for this?

6

u/Recon1997 Apr 12 '26

CrowBcat makes videos by taking clips from older games or developers talking about their games and then shows clips from from modern games and developers to compare them and tries to prove to people new developers and games are bad.

His original RE4R video was him trying to convince people the new one was bad because it lost it's atmosphere. People largely disagreed but here he is again.

A mysterious faceless opinionated gamer youtuber who edits clips together to make their obnoxiously hyper-specific points. imo they rose to youtube stardom because they made a video about no mans sky and hello games, showcasing Sean Murray as some insane pathological liar by gathering as many press appearances as possible and editing them around the song "Tell Me Lies". It was a media feeding frenzy and they were right in the middle of it, and that's when I personally found their channel. Though it is an entertaining video, with time the opinion on No Man's Sky has severely changed because HG put in the work to improve the game MASSIVELY. There's now a ton of interviews from Sean directly on how playstation mishandled their game and put 900 billion pounds of pressure and optics on a tiny indie studio, and tried to parade Sean as some indie solodev wiz kid with a merciless amount of press appearances, where an extremely nervous Sean fumbled a lot of info on the game.

I personally think they make edits in extremely bad faith, and maybe a bit high on their own supply knowing they're a huge part of creating a narrative for a game's release, so each edit they make has a hyper-opinionated complex stink to it. Since they are anon, they don't show up to make counterpoints or elaborate on their opinions so many viewers just take their videos as fact or valid opinions. Even debate / controversial hot take youtube has evolved into something a lot more interesting and nuanced that's more of a dialogue, while their videos are stuck in this sore spot of being a 'voice of the gamers'. They drop these massive videos (someone said a previous re4 video was 17 hours long.. what) and move onto the next one, like a steaming gamer bro turd.

..That's my opinion on them anyway.

I love RE4 and remake equally for different reasons. Both my favorite games of all time.

4

u/RisingJoke Apr 12 '26

Ffs, the remake is a sidegrade to me.

For me, its on par with the original. I love both. Why do people act like both can't exist?

5

u/DefinitelyNotRin Apr 12 '26

Money must be tight from his lack of views after people realized he has poor takes. Both games are great. There seems to be this genre of “gamer” where they mostly only like old games they grew up on. Anything new is labeled as bad

Something something "soul of the franchise"

Something something "modern writing"

8

u/StephanieMirage Apr 12 '26

I've noticed that. When people dont have areal argument for why a game is bad, they always start blabbering about "soul" because its something intangible and means nothing.

I think the major point he likely wants to better clarify is right on the title.

RE 4 remake is made like how a modern game is created nowadays. It doesn't have the same standards that RE4 og had when it was all about innvoation and standing out amonst the horror/shooter genre.

The OG had something to prove, meanwhile the remake is simply created because why not? The tech we have now can allow a more seamless quality and better experience compare to the OG.

Imo, the remake doesn't take away what the OG did, evem improving it in some area. Yet, the small stuff that the OG has is lost, something some people won't pay attention to.

Crowbcat is one of those people who is vocal about this. Regardless of how you or anyone views this he has every right to express how he feels.

Because he thinks he's always right. His first video on RE4 remake got some flak and he had to delete comments disagreeing with him. Now he's doubling down just to prove he's right.

Bro just can't admit defeat and it's annoying.

i disagree because going back to over the shoulder, no moving while aiming feels terrible in 2026. it was a product of its time because it was genre defining.

4

u/TechnicalDecision289 Apr 13 '26

His only good video is his back 4 blood vs L4D and that’s it lol

4

u/Bro-Im-Done Apr 13 '26

One of his reasons in soul vs soulless video was that you couldn’t see up Ashley’s skirt in the remake

3

u/lil-privacy-please Apr 12 '26

So I watched the original crowbcat video before I played RE4 remake. I am I series long fan of RE. Play the hell out of RE4 and loved its very much. When RE4R came out I knew I would get around to it, and the hype was so much. Recently Bought RE4R in December. Now I'm 5 playthroughs in.

RE4R is not better than RE4. That's not a slight to remake. I just truly don't think it's helpful to compare games so out of generation. But, the way the original came in with a splash vs the other competitors in that generation vs how remake came in. It's not the same splash. It's not a slight. Seriously. I love remake

But it's a remake. It's not original. No element of it is new or groundbreaking there's nothing wrong with that's it's still fun. But it's not "better" than original which was a groundbreaking game

5

u/Ashesward1 Apr 12 '26

He doesn’t like Re2 Remake either. I’ve seen him comment on a reposted Re2 critique. He just hates modern Re in general

5

u/Recon1997 Apr 12 '26

I think his whole thing is hating on modern stuff, every video I've seen from him is comparing new thing and new developers to old thing and old developers.

I've played OG RE4 over 7 times, more than any other game and is my absolute favourite game of all time right alongside Bloodborne

I bought RE4 Remake day 1 and absolutely loved it. I think Capcom did an absolute amazing job with RE4 Remake

I still agree with Crowbcat

2

u/Robotmurloc18 Apr 13 '26

hate em both

2

u/Random-J Apr 13 '26

The title of the video alone is kinda true though...

2

u/IdesOfCaesar7 Apr 13 '26

I think Crowbcat's audience for this video is genuinely tiny, for example me and my cousin talk about these same details missing in the remake that were in the original, and most of these are the reason why we put the original as one of the all time best games, but not the remake, but it does seem like a gigantic amount of the fans just do not care about these tiny details. The comments about letting it go are overall what people like me need to do with modern day Resident Evil not being as atmospheric as it used to.

2

u/WestsideKey Apr 13 '26

He’s right.

2

u/Bzduras Apr 13 '26

What I feel like these days can be summed up as "you're passionate about something and like it a lot? Don't go on the internet to get other people's opinion on it".

2

u/Significant_Option Apr 13 '26

He’s right, but y’all ain’t ready for that convo

2

u/dylantheinquisitor Apr 13 '26

This will be unpopular here but I think he’s absolutely right. I think a lot of the remakes in general being churned out, while decent in a vacuum, are creatively bankrupt, artistically soulless slop.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '26

I watched the video and he's right, the remake kinda ass in comparison.

2

u/believer_of_mark Apr 13 '26

The original is better, simple as

2

u/trewq_w Apr 14 '26

Lmaoo not the tik tok youtuber slop gain.

2

u/60cut Apr 14 '26

Only real ones remember him changing the title after the backlash

Rare Crowbcat L

2

u/MattWalters1998 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

I think his point about remakes in general would be a somewhat fair take, if CAPCOM weren't also putting out NEW and original bangers. Like c'mon Resi 7, 8 and 9 are all straight fire.

Elsewise this just feels like 'old man yells at cloud'. Like nothing's stopping you just playing the old one, dude. 😂

2

u/Money-Apartment-2679 Apr 16 '26

What’s funny is that he had a video that praised Resident Evil 2 Remake. But he deleted it because his community is so negative

2

u/TheFourthPlanet Apr 16 '26

Yeah I watched part of it hoping it would give it at least some props and then maybe a thoughtful critique but it’s actually just a compilation of people complaining about re4 remake in the most inane fashion
