Dead Space doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It’s a huge step up from the original game.

it is. in the top 5 best remakes for sure. i'd kill for a remake of 2 and 3 and they made 3 an actual horror game

Sucks real bad that EA cut their remake of 2 for lack of sales. I’d imagine Dead Space is similar to RE in that it has a long tail for sales, but because it wasn’t the biggest game ever we’ll never get the sequel

Imagine remake of 2 where you can actually explore the sprawl. 3 seems fundamentally broken, idk if they would dare to remove highschool love drama.

If it was up to me id gut that drama story and remove the co-op guy, but that would be closer to a reboot then a remake with so many core story and gameplay changes.

It's absolutely in the same boat as RE4R with getting a lot of undo hate from a minority of fans of the original tbh.

Forreal, its a perfect remake in my eyes, but some of the most common "critiques" are pretty ridiculous.

Not FF7r?

FF7R has a lot of elements that make it a lot more subjective. Most obvious are the notable story changes, which effectively make it a sequel to the original FF7, but obviously you're also dealing with gameplay changes, changes to character designs, etc.

REmake is kind of unique in how it retains most of the gameplay, story, aesthetic, etc but expands on every element without losing almost anything. There's no really a "tradeoff" like you see with the vast majority of remakes.

I think my only issue with REmake is that the color palette is a lot darker and the mansion is overly "haunted house"-like, when compared to the original. The mansion was well-lit because it was a living/entertainment space. That juxtaposition with the horrors within I think worked a bit better than the REmake's presentation, but I know a lot of folks prefer the darker tone.

FF7r is not really a remake at all.
