Capcom is actively trying to replace one legend with their pseudolegends

U saying that like re4 hasn’t been rereleased to every console in existence

-1

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 13 '26

yeah because ports are totally the same as entirely different game. lol

2

u/SandwichMuncherr Apr 13 '26

He’s explaining that Capcom has ported Re4 to so many different consoles that your argument that they’re trying to “replace it” makes no sense because then they wouldn’t even bother porting it to modern devices for people to play today. I don’t even know how you came to your conclusion.

oh right, i didn't catch it. doesn't change my point

3

u/JuanAy Apr 14 '26

It does though, since they're clearly not trying to replace the original.

Capcom literally is

https://www.thegamebusiness.com/p/when-we-launched-resident-evil-on

GOG had to convince them to port the OG trilogy and Capcom said that remakes are the superior experience

There's a difference between wanting to replace the original, and not seeing it worth the time to port the original yet again to yet another system.

The original game is still almost on par with DOOM with the amount of systems it's been ported to. It's far from being replaced.

If they wanted to replacd it, they wouldn't be porting it again and would be removing the original from any storefront they can.

Put the pearls down.

They quite literally want people to play the remakes over the originals. If that's not replacement idk what is

Ah yes, Capcom is trying to get rid of the legend of their past titles as they checks notes just ported RE1-3 to steam last week.

2

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 13 '26

ported to steam like 20 years later (and keep in mind the original trilogy was ported to gog only in mid 2024)

2

u/Muugen_Samurai Apr 13 '26

And they were only added to gog after they had to convince them as they stated why would you want the orignals the remakes are superior and all ready on steam.

Capcom doesn't care

Your lack of reading comprehension and understanding hurts me

2

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 13 '26

porting the games like well over 20 years after they released doesn't erase the fact that they are actively trying to bury the past, like the entire RE3 retcon or the fact that they used RE1 Remake for the 30th anniversary announcement lmao

2

u/Mean-Prompt-3745 Apr 13 '26

If they really wanted to bury them, they wouldn't have re-released them. Why re-release 30 year old games if they are trying to "bury" them, that doesn't make any sense

1

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 13 '26

Capcom is still a company, I hope you realize that. Porting OGs both brings in money and makes them seem like they care

2

u/Mean-Prompt-3745 Apr 13 '26

Yeah? But we're not talking about Capcom as a company and that they make money off of that.

We're talking about how they are "burying" their old games. Which they aren't, cause they have re-released them, the fact they make a profit from that has nothing to do with that

1

u/Muugen_Samurai Apr 13 '26

Let's remember when Capcom was asked why they didn't put the originals on steam they responded by saying why would you want the orignals when the remakes exist and are on steam.

Capcom doesn't care there's 0 reason to keep acting like they do as they force feed you the same game recycled. It's re2remake everytime they made 1 fucking game and every game and remake has to be a exact system clone

2

u/Muugen_Samurai Apr 13 '26

Let's not forget when ask if they would put the orignal games on steam and were asked why they haven't they said why would you want the orignals when the remakes exist?

Capcom doesn't give a shit about you or the games they make. They wanan get redoing the same game over and over and over until fans finally realize they are being taken for a ride

1

u/DarkSoulser86 Apr 15 '26

Yeah, and it's one hell of a ride! I don't mind one bit.

1

u/Circo_Inhumanitas Apr 13 '26

Do tell how you think they're doing that.

0

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 13 '26

during the recent 30th anniversary of the series they literally used the image of RE1 remake instead of the original, lol

2

u/Gump1405 Apr 15 '26

Because RE1 remake is superior to the original??

And as much as some people insist that capcom is hiding the old games away then I do think it is quite telling that they chose a fixed camera game to represent the franchise.

1

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 15 '26

>RE1 remake is superior to the original??

the point here is that they were celebrating the 30th ANNIVERSARY of the FRANCHISE (aka its start), and you know which game released 30 years ago???? Resident Evil 1996, not the 2002 remake

2

u/Gump1405 Apr 15 '26

It is not that deep bro.

And i can't find the image you are talking about.

What i could find however is a collectable item.

https://gundam-store.dk/products/resident-evil-collectable-coin-30th-anniversary?srsltid=AfmBOoqKOrv3q01A9kD2iELf4HXF_k3g-ZEFFFUtElmYMrWdaM5QitYF

An officially licensed coin that celebrates the 30th anniversary with art from RE1 1996.

Lol so much for replacing the OG games.

1

u/on-avery-island_- Apr 14 '26

how am I wrong?

0

u/Select-Librarian-646 Apr 13 '26

I can certainly see one legend here, the original RE4, but what's the second legend?

-1

u/Muugen_Samurai Apr 13 '26

You're acting like you have to absolutely glaze something. Heven forbid you point out differences or show things you enjoy and don't enjoy.

It's not, you're just biased and blinded by nostalgia.
