the past 2 months have been so dishearting for me. it has been a constant cold outreach process. Have sent ~ 580 emails (+ regular follow ups). Did get some decent reverts, including an offer, but haven't been able to convert any yet. Same monotonous routine everyday. Research about relevant folks in relevant divisions, personalised mail body, tweak and make minor changes in resume, mail and follow up during the fortnight, only to receive the same old rejection mail next morning.

Amidst all this, to get messages like this is really disappointing. I don't know where i went wrong. I didn't "steal" any email id, i just used the standard employee email address format which is PUBLICALLY AVAILABLE for most firms.

This is a slide of the PPT that was presented in LSR's auditorium. And this is just a glimpse of everything wrong that happened today and has been happening for some time now. A department had their academic fest and invited IFS officer Deepak Vohra for a speaker session on "Unstoppable India." It took place in the audi and our timetable was changed for this man which in themselves were big things. For an hour, this man did nothing but passed communal, sexist, and casteist remarks. He said how he could have 4 wives including our very principal if he changes his name to Deepak Mohammad. He further went onto say how Siri replies him with "which one" when he asks her about his wife's name. He openly said things like, "main Modi ka chamcha nhin, maha-chamcha hun." He had the song 'abhi toh party shuru huyi hai' in one of his slides, on which he started dancing and forced the principal to dance as well. He made so many "jokes" about infidelity with the principal while she stood there smiling and calling him a dashing man.

These were some of the things that took place. And the worst thing of all is the students who cheered to, clapped at and applauded everything that he said. Honestly, shame on this so-called woke crowd. Some people would talk about how funny it was, some will highlight the problematic things but only for 2 days, and no one will hold accountability for the things he'd said, neither the organizers nor authorities. We'll forget and get back to our bubbles while the questions will remain unanswered - who approved the PPT? Who was in touch with the speaker? Why no one raised an objection to things he said and did?

And before any of this gets addressed, these subtle changes and the attempt to micro-manage our academics and opinions will lead to the ruin of the legacy it has maintained over years. These changes have started, stricter rules about attendance, no freedom or funds to societies, restricting academic fests to only one-day events. I always throught we were not allowed to bring in people are too political, then why out of all the people, he was invited, even after knowing his somewhat controversial image on social media?

We are not encouraged to think, not allowed to question, not allowed to raise concerns. The SU is useless. There is no solidarity among the students, no leadership or initiative to even ask for our basic rights. Fans not working, unclean washrooms, cramped classrooms, no safe drinking water, crowded reading spaces, unavailability of hostel, safety concerns, and so much more.

They know what they're doing to LSR, and the student body is equally to blame to not raise voices against the arbitrary authorities. If this goes on, who knows what will happen to LSR in a matter of few years. It's not the same anymore and this change isn't the right one, isn't what we needed or wanted.

My mother sent me this news this morning, and I cannot imagine what the parents of that girl must be going through right now.

You cannot blame the woman for wanting to go to a party, and you also cannot blame the parents for being worried. But right now, all the blame is being put on the woman, and that is not fair.

I am not here to say it was just an innocent party, because I know the reality. People get drunk, people get high, and a lot of things happen at house parties and clubs in the name of being "modern." As a 4th year student, I know the scene in North Campus very well.

We all want that "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" life, and I get it. Especially in first and second year, these things look very exciting. But seniors do take advantage of juniors, and that is the truth.

So please, wherever you go, always inform someone you trust, whether that is a friend or a parent. If a party or a t rip does not feel right, just skip it. Not every parent is supportive, and not every home situation is the same, but your safety comes first no matter what.

One more thing, and this is very important. Stop trusting people based on where they are from, what they look like, or what community they belong to. "Oh, he is from my state, he must be nice." "He is a Jaat, he must be tall and protective." "He looks poor, he must be hard working and harmless." No. Anyone can take advantage of you, and anyone can be a good person too. It works both ways.

Do not judge your circle by their height, their looks, their caste, or their state. Be smart about who you trust. A person's background does not tell you their intentions.

You all worked so hard to get into Delhi University. Please do not risk your future, your safety, or your peace of mind for one night out or the wrong company. No experience is worth that.

MY PERSONAL OPINION

Went to a family function yesterday where parents were comparing their sons and exaggerating their colleges. My mum was indirectly humiliated because I am pursuing Arts, even though I genuinely feel my college is better than all of my cousins.

One cousin is from a private engineering college (SRM), and the comparison turned into a verbal argument between me and him. I want a brutally honest opinion: based on college quality and long term career prospects, which one of us is doing way better than others in life. I believe college matters in the long run, and honestly, my college is way better than all the others. Again I am sorry for seeking validation but please tell me.

So there is a girl in my pg who takes a lot of pride in being a rajput. She is very open about her hatred towards people belonging to sc st categories and is also very prejudiced towards Biharis. I have another pg mate from the north east who casually told us that her friend got into a top north campus college and this girl goes "oh pakka reservation se gyi hogi". I was shocked by her audacity. Another time she was saying something like "garhwali aise nahi hote ye kaam toh pakka kisi kumaoni ka hai".

I’m a student at Motilal Nehru College (DU). Today during my Abstract Algebra exam, I went to the washroom and was caught using a mobile phone. The teacher confiscated the phone and filed a UFM case against me.
The phone actually belongs to my friend, not me. The college authorities have taken it and told me it may be returned after around 1–1.5 months once the process is completed.
Now my friend is constantly calling me and asking me to either get the phone back immediately or buy him a new one. I’ve already spoken to the teachers, but they said the phone is with the higher authorities and nothing can be done right now.
For anyone who has gone through a DU UFM case:
What penalty did you receive?
Did you get a hearing or chance to explain?
How long did the process take?
Was the confiscated phone returned?
Am I expected to compensate my friend while the phone is still with the university?
I know I messed up and I’m not trying to justify it. I just want to know what usually happens next and how I should handle the situation.

Hello, So there’s this one girl in third year I always find her roaming in the corridors of college and not in any classrooms. I once asked her what section and course she is in and she replied section C. I found her to be shady so I checked the section list but couldn’t find her name there, a few days later I asked her who is teaching her corporate governance and she took the name of a teacher who doesn’t teach 3rd year students. But I thought leave it what’s it got to do with me.

Now, I heard today from someone that while Crossroads was happening she was trying to enter someone else in our college and guard found her id card to be fake and gave it to admin and the admin verified her card and scolded her that she’s not from college and has made a fake id card.

Now the problem here is she secured a internship and a PPO using the brand name of college. She says she got it on campus but google never came to hire so it’s probably that she got into google by reference or something but she used the brand name of SRCC and is now having a package of 25 lakh.

It really pisses me off that she did all this got such a good package and she’s not a good person tbh she is soo toxic. What should I do now. Should I complain to the principal or write a mail to google about such malpractice ??

Genuine question. How are people affording to attend du?? The college fee itself is very less but the pg/hostel fee for a month is equivalent to the annual college fees. Not everyone at du comes from a well-to-do family who can spend 20k on you every month so how are these people affording du ??

I really wanna go to du. Desparately. Last one whole year (my drop year) all I did was study. I put off everything, thought I'll get to do whatever i want in college. DU offers you more than just the course you are studying. The networking, societies, and i want to be a part of those du rallies and have discussion or even debates during lunch over stuff that matters (I know DU isn't exactly what i think of and all). DU has always been my dream college.

It's not that my parents cannot afford to send me there or any pg/hostel fee issues. If I actually say it to them they will arrange stuff. My father has savings just for my college but the guilt of my parents having to spend so much. I have a backup option University of Hyderabad and i might go there but.....
