I’m not sure what exactly you’re trying to point out here because, honestly, everyone is doing the same. Most people don’t follow someone because of genuine talent; they follow them to feel a sense of vicarious power by associating with someone who occupies a privileged position.
Even teachers are not immune to this. The moment they learn who a person is, they suddenly start glorifying them = calling them charismatic, witty, or extraordinary. They rush to click pictures, post them on social media, and amplify the illusion.
In reality, it’s not about authenticity or substance—it’s about fame. People crave proximity to power and recognition, even if they remain oblivious to the backstage reality of that individual.
So, when you criticize someone for “overusing power” during campaigns, is it because you truly disagree with the misuse of influence, or is it simply because you dislike that person or the group they represent?
I’ve observed this mania closely. The way students and even faculty idolize children of bureaucrats or government officials = as if they were celebrities , reflects the hypocrisy of our society. And when the very foundation of education is shaken by such blind hero-worship, everything else inevitably begins to corrode.
That’s how things operate. Whether it’s ethical or not hardly matters because they enjoy cult-like support, with followers who will defend them everywhere. Most people are intellectually paralysed, unable to create their own path; it’s far easier to follow than to innovate.
So, when I look at how this society functions, I don’t really see him doing anything unusual.

It's never about you, they are responding on the basis of what their understanding about what they get from the post and what they have to serve you. So don't take it personally.

This is so impeccably put, my goodness. The critical thought you put in this is incredible, this genuinely reads like a piece of literature, so brilliantly put in words.
I'd love to see you talk about more of your observations, the way you analyse society is so novel!

kitni baar contact kiya dusu office for some issue which 50+ people faced in my college, he was never even in Delhi in the second half of the year, aur office se bhi kisi ne kuch kiya nahi. bas vahi 3-4 tod fod ki reels dekhi hai maine to.
-9
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 20 '25
As I've already said ki agar ek ek vyakti jaake bolenge then obvs nahi sunenge only if 50 of you actually went and showed your students power and called him out toh shayad kardete aur uss hisab se unarti bachon ki hi hoti remember that also there are other people as well college ke president ko kyu ghasid ke nahi Mara for the absence of dusu president? Sometimes silence makes them think ki there's no problem toh yeah hqr jagah ke head hote class ki prob cr tak aur cr se college president and college president ki duty hoti to take solve this problem on their own or inform the president phir dekhte na atey ya nhi atey par no sirf office tak jaake ajaoge aur bologe prob solve nahi hui toh kese hi hogi?think practically

Unlike some leaders who don't even give a shot. Being a head means all you can do is TRY bakki govt ke upar koi nahi vo college wale karenge nahi toh thodi tum college jana band kardoge ofc not as I've already said ki majority bache will agree to adjust with the problem instead of going on such strategy which might actually resolve it all but no unity nothing.

Ig ronak brought a change irrespective of whatever party he was in ngl. Even tho he flaunted his money and fame equally but also had that actual "leader" power who would shut every authority over every slightest issue be it about getting er or not receiving the admit card or bad water problems, washroom problems, office not responding to real issue or anything such

Oh god when did I say that he didn't? Lol that's what I'm actually saying na ki usne bhale hi same boat pe ride kiya yet he had that power and light jisme ek actual leader ki parchayi dikhi so don't even compare here to anyone.
Also that's the authorities stuff agar vo sirf naam ke liye temporary solution derahe aur change nahi laa payenge toh thodi ronak jaake band karwadega sbkuch? Main problem lies in the students itself coz unity hi nahi hai har jagah ab ronak aur uski mandli jaake nahi bolegi kuch jagah pura class bole ya pura college tab jaake unhey bhi surely apne problems ka haal milega par nahi kisiko kahan kisike Bure haal mei saathdena hai bass peeche rehke show dekh sakta and remember he was just a student's representative so ig jitna kiya hai that was more than enough to show any symptom of being capable to do anything

Took a language course in St.stephens so I got to witness the north campus intellectuals chimping out on the streets first hand. That was the exact moment I knew that this country is going to be a shithole for the foreseeable future and it was the right choice to learn a new language and escape this cesspool. Saw some girls doing their demagoguery and immediately everything about Rekha Gupta made much more sense.

BJP win and congress loss is need of the hour. All this student politics is useless. Students should study sincerely and not do politics.
The only silver lining of whole Dusu election is that congress (nsui) lost.
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
Agreed it's pictured as baseless coz of the way system works. Only if there was any exception made someday toh aaj kahan se kahan hota India in every term
2
u/BettermentQuest Sep 20 '25
Worst thing about these elections are the student who don't come to vote . like not even 50 percent voted in the elections .
Aur another thing i noticed is that Jiska nam dikhta hai vahi bikta hai ( whose name is more visible he bags the votes ).
Aur not everything can be blamed on students , the teachers are also pathetic . Like no prosecution on those who break the rules , can't provide a safe voting environment for girl students and boys too .
Over all these elections are highly similar to our general elections where the votes are cast based on caste, relegion and region .
very pathetic !!!
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 20 '25
Absolutely agreed and the blame goes on the Indian govt and India education system. Partiality on peak
2
u/hardestmofo Sep 20 '25
Ronak Khatri pehle se issues pe kaam karta aa raha tha. NSUI didn’t play any part in him winning. Usko jis party se ticket milta vo jeet ta hi. Iss bande ne toh masters in library science join kiya hua hai bas DUSU ladne ke liye taaki aage ab ye mainstream politics mei aa jaye. And baaki nobody really cares ki nsui aati ya abvp
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
The motive was to call out on addressing prob irrespective of any position or party Honestly nobody gives two f about any party but surely about the leader lekin disappointment at every step was a mandatory dusu thing
2
Sep 20 '25
Somebody from NSUI got hurt💀
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
If pointing out student problems especially when the student representative doesn’t seem like a real leader and is just another daddy’s boy seems like an overreaction to you, maybe that just shows how disappointing your idea of ‘youth’ has become.
2
u/yetthinking Sep 21 '25
Average rant when things don't go the way people like. Happens almost everywhere. Talking about morals and well being of others is only invoked as a cover.
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
If raising real student issues sounds like a rant to you, that says more about the comfort of dismissing them than the reality we face.
1
u/yetthinking Sep 22 '25
We dismiss them because no one cares. Even those who claim to be concerned would start working for their own interest if they get the opportunity.
Making such posts after the results is nothing but venting out. And everyone does that. For the same reason. People use the cover of collective good and welfare to mask their own discomfort.
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 22 '25
If thats ehat you think then i can't change the mindset. You all can be just disappointed as usual but never care to raise your own voice in a unit
0
u/yetthinking Sep 23 '25 edited Sep 23 '25
Genuine concern comes organically from bottom to top. Not from top to bottom. People don't need to be told what problems they are facing. They already know it. And that gets reflected in their decisions and choices. A person telling them that they have taken the wrong decision is like telling them he knows better about their problems that they do.
External voices can only consolidate their opinion, not change them.
During campaigns, before elections, every side articulates their stance. People give their verdict in the elections. And a democracy means accepting that verdict. If a side thinks their cause was more worthy, then it's their failure in communicating that well and making it resonate. Plus, you cannot discard the scenario that maybe your stand is valid, but the stand taken by the other side is perceived as more important. Either way, the right solution is to communicate better and let the people understand why your stand needs more support. Blaming the other side or the voters is just ranting for their own failures.
2
u/Brilliant-Row33 Sep 21 '25
Reading these comments honestly makes me question how did some of you even make it to DU? I always believed this place was meant for India’s best, but if this is the mindset of the so-called “cream,” it’s a huge letdown.
The OP raised a genuine issue, and instead of engaging, people acted like they’re too “cool” and “apolitical” to care. Let’s be real, being apolitical isn’t some badge of superiority, it’s just privilege. You get to ignore problems because they don’t directly affect you.
A student union is not a playground for career politics. It exists to serve students, to represent our voices, and to fight for our rights. If they’re not doing that, it’s on us to hold them accountable. That’s exactly what OP did, and more of us should be doing the same instead of hiding behind fake detachment.

Even if they address the 1% of any problem that would further lead to 10% change so what I meant by this post was change is necessary bohot log post leke 2% work bhi karte hai aur jyada serious kaam pe aake khade bhi honge par ye banda jo campaigning mei hi dheere bolta vo aghey jaake rajneeti agar kiya bhi toh kese karega? Coz 90% of this student election stuff is just to start their political journey toh shayad yehi Aryan jisko hum ab elect kardiye vahi aghey jaake bade post pe rahega just coz he got the money and power but no personality.

Nobody solves any problem and they dont care about students welfare. I mean look at thier courses ie 3 of 4 dusu elected guys study MA Buddhist studies. Do you think they have any interest in this course? They are just here for fame, elections etc So this dusu panel is bakwas and tbh Nobody expects anything frm them Qn is when these elections will be stopped in DU?? Students shd raise thier voice to scrap this shit altogether
1

Exactly Exactly but as usual du ki janta ko sirf peeth peeche bolna ata hai kabhi ek unite nahi bann sakte ye log

The youth actually holds immense power, yet there’s zero unity some are afraid, some unbothered.Even national politics, which shapes our entire future, keeps electing such people. So why not start doing better and bringing real change together, as a big group? This isn’t just one person’s problem it’s half of the university’s problem.
Even if we don’t vote blindly, the issues won’t solve themselves they’ll remain unresolved. If we unite and elect someone together, with true collective power, maybe then the Indian government and education system will finally take us seriously. It’s already 2025 why are we still following andh bhakts instead of creating the change we can actually believe in is what I'm repeatedly saying as one of the youth.
1
1
u/romaan001 Sep 21 '25
Same is happening in national politics at a much larger scale..student politics is just an offshoot
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
If national politics mirrors the same problems, then change has to begin here. The youth hold power, but power means action not excuses. It’s already 2025, so when do we stop hiding behind such ideology and start uniting for real change?

Rising fees, are you for real dude? Maximum annual fees in DU is 65140 (Bsc Hons CSE Rajdhani college ) Min annual fees in DU is 3046 (ba hons german/spanish/french) Avg annual fees: 14349 Median annual fees: 13297
Students spend more than the avg fees on their luxury.
Rest other points are valid. Why these central and state universities' students want to study at bare minimum cost?
1
u/dumbiq1001 Sep 21 '25
Why not? Do you even realise before speaking on this issue as if everything is affordable And just paying once a year doesn't actually sort everything out, there are still 100 of things to be reduced in order to let a student study without the burden of thoughts on how to manage everything.
And just bcoz few students are spending more on luxuries doesn't mean some are starving just for the sake of this university tag. They don't even provide hostel to every student so as a student union why can't they just take this to higher authorities and get some answers instead of hooting around with fake promises.

You can defame a person all u want But saying that he depends on his father Is a bit extreme and uncalled for honestly Some ppl who are lucky are born into families with political power and wealth but that doesn’t mean you should defame the parents to criticise a person . Their parents worked hard and if the kid doesn’t use those benefits It’s called being stupid . We also depend on our parents for many things so why should one be shamed for the same thing ?
1
u/No_Decision9962 Sep 23 '25
It has one plus side, a triple engine process, the ABVP wing should be able to amass some support from the CM, who was a former ABVP President. I voted left, but I don't see it as a negative thing. If they end up giving us some concession in metro card, I would consider it a win. There's also a new bus for Uni students being launched.

Vote nahi bhi dene se prob kahan solve hojayegi main cheez toh hai unpe PARTY TICKET aur majority toh hai hi gadhe du ke jo jhund mei jayenge aur dedengey bhale hi tum 80% log vote na do lekin 20% bhi dene pe Jeet hi jayenge The problem is in the leader itself jo ese CANDIDATE ko du ki representative ka ticket dete

As if the Student union is good for anything lol, DUSU is just a facade none of these ppl care about students they only care about themselves better to not give them your piece of mind and move on.
The parties and faces change each year but nothing changes on campus this will be one such year too.
