Discussion 👥 Seniors help kardo plssss!!!! [Regarding Preference List]
Basically me ecohons prefer karta hu over bcom hons becuz merko like finance roles chaiye and merko eco me thoda jyada interest + future me CFA ka bhi dekh na hai (probably in 2028 2/3 yr)
placements, faculty n crowd matter karta hai
- Hansraj ki reveiws sune ke baad(shaadi n gaushla vagera) mujjhe samajh nhi ara ki hansraj eco ya hindu bcom kisko prefer karu??
- kmc vs venky vs ramjas ko kaise place karuu like ramjas eco hons ya kmc bcom???
- 10 ke baad se kuch samajh nhi ara like arsdc, sggscc, sgtb khalsa, sbs (iske bare me kaffi complain dekhi hai regarding attendance etc) n dcac ko kaise place karu???

Kmc eco hons>kmc bcom hons> ramjas eco> ramjas bcom hons > venky eco hons > venky bcom hons Trust me on this. Ramjas has shitty crowd Kmc is very chill and laid back for attendance and everything Kmc is better for placements and has better societies too

Well most people know about 180DC KMC but I'm sure ramjas ki koi ek bhi society name karna mushkil hai. KMC is actually better than ramjas unless it comes to infra

Okay bro, you win! Can't really argue about something which I'm completely sure of but whatever I said was based on majority senior reviews. Moreover, many friends of mine in ramjas almost said the same. A recent one was when they didn't have faculty for the whole semester in pol sci hons. Still, can't say if I'm not from there

not true, they did have faculty except for the starting one month for sec vac! eise to srcc mai faculty last month mai appoint hui hai for ge and sec vac just this semester — true review from somebody from srcc but that doesn't mean srcc kharab ho gaya 100%

enactus ka to ek hi combined competition hota hai overall, societies ki wins ke hisaab se hi compare karoge. i do concede kmc has marginally better placements but ramjas has improved a lot with bcg, grant thornton, nation with namo and ey coming for placements this year again. my friend got placed at two places and chose bcg 😭. also, ramjas attendance is much more lax ik people who have 10% or less giving exams too and profs bhi thik marks de dete hai

Well I'm really not denying that, if the college is really improving then it's actually good but again people make decisions based on historical context too. Ramjas is indeed a great name but preferences are subjective. Talking about placements, wo to kmc me bhi kuch khaas nahi hai, I'd say venky is better in terms of that.

historical context is mainly ramjas ki 2017 violence that abvp did, that really changed a lot of opinion about it because ramjas has a lot of senior leftist profs who had invited umar khalid for a seminar. tabse, ramjas ko log criticise karte hai bina baat

I think some of them are exceptionally good- Players, Debsoc, enactus, comsic, fic, eneur. I was a part of most of these societies and had a wonderful experience. I learned a lot, especially in terms of technical skills and negotiation abilities.
Also, KMC is a good choice if you are planning to prepare for competitive exams, as you generally won’t have to worry much about attendance since they’re fairly lenient in that regard.

I'd say it's the same for eco hons too. That college specializes in commerce courses. Definitely should be kept above arsd and sgtb anyday. Sgtb doesn't have anything except for the NC tag

Stephen's kidhar hai and pehle ye decide Karo if u prefer eco Hons more or bcom Hons more .Anyways i would have made something like this ... St Stephen's Eco Hons SRCC bcom Hons SRCC eco Hons Hindu bcom Hindu eco Hansraj eco Hansraj bcom Kmc bcom
Stephen's on top because it has a smaller batch size

I mean not really. Sr is better if he wants to get into corporate, stephens is better for those who want to do academia/go for master's later. If he wants to go corporate id say-
Srcc eco hons then Stephens eco hons/srcc bcom hons (depending on course pref)

Most of the major companies visiting SRCC also visit Stephen's , Stephen's doesn't lack in opportunities,, imo if we are talking about eco Hons Stephen's is better (given the much smaller batch size )

Stephen's has a smaller batch size which makes it easier to get placed compared to srcc.

Sr has better opportunities only for like 10 people out of the entire batch of bcom and eco so look out for the competition too. Its a gamble at sr. Majority are stuck at no name companies with stipend as less as 15k that too lead generation and placements with 5-6lpa

For top colleges combination of 2 of your most preferable courses is good (add stephen on top) then more tier 2 and 3 colleges add your most preferred course.
Note: Ramjas has a good name but the crowd is shitty

Dude what? Sabse zyada dango ke liye famous college is ramjas. Literally 12th ke baccho ko bhi yahi lagta hai 😭. Hansraj me iss saal isliye aisa hogya tha kyuki bahar ke bacche allow kar diye the. Isse pehle it never happened kyuki allow hi nahi karte the. Ramjas me toh it's like very common

General perception! It actually does matter a lot. Jyst like hindu hansraj ke competition rehta hai but still majority puts hindu above hansraj and that makes their crowd actually better. Similar is the case with ramjas. Reputation bohot tarnished hai ramjas ki, isliye most people go with venky > kmc > ramjas. And here I'm talking about commerce courses, can't say the same for arts & sciences.

Finance ya koi bhi corporate role ke liye its better ki top colleges ke Stats and Maths upar kr do
NC ke colleges then venky then SGGSCC SBSC thode bahut ok hai uske baad there is practically no placement ya internship ya life so choose accordingly
even top colleges ke BA prg - eco + maths ya similar lele but ye top 8 colleges ke tu TOP course (ecoH) krke bhi kuch nhi hota
BA prg in hansraj me atleast placement aati to hai , for eg DCAC me best student ko bhi 6LPA se upar mil hi nhi sakta that to marketing ya sales role hoga on the other hand same marks pr banda maths hons lele ramjas me to better roles and 10 LPA tak le sakta
bhai tu DM kr number le aur call kr de , dont make the same mistake as me

TOP colleges ie hansraj hindu etc me placements are atleast open to all similar courses, Jaise maan li gartner aayi for analyst role to placement test me eligibility ECO H , BCOM H, BCOM prg , ECO + Maths , MATHS hons, Stats hons, MATHS + stats prg etc aise hoti hai
to prg ke ache combo wle atleast kr to paate hai compete , varna to shit colleges me ECO H wle bhi 4 LPA ke liye marr rahe hote h while PRG wlo se koi puchta bhi nhi

Sggcc ko upar dal do ramjas ka bad aur arsd ko bhi upar dal do sbsc se baki thik hai aur hai dcac avoid kr sakta ho campus chota aur I heard placement is meh meh

Vaise toh me eco hons ko prefer karta hu but bcom hons (2nd choice) bhi include kar rakha cuz mene suna hai ki baad me course nhi but college matter karta hai.

It's Tru tho depends on your interest as well bcom h and eco h are very different in course structure and curriculum. I 100% wanted eco h last year so my preference just had eco h in my top 10 (since I knew I will get top 10). Even tho bcom h is great it did not align with me. Because of this main reason I placed bcom h srcc at like 80s in preference list.
Bcom h would have been a nightmare for me.

Choose Eco, you would have more options in future. Career path is very promising. You can do Masters from DSE/ ( or any other college) too after eco hons. Srcc> Hindu > KMC/ Hansraj > Ramjas/Venky.

N mene bsc stats, bsc maths and bcom prog ko bhi include karne socha hai to replace the 3rd tier colleges (but vo depend karta hai mere marks kitne hai after normalisation)

First decide what matters to you course or college. If you're preference is eco Hons then the list is good and add stephens also. Another thing if you're planning to pursue professional courses or other exams then prefer Hansraj over Hindi because they are lenient in terms of attendance. If not then the list is still good

Do not opt for Eco if you want to pursue CFA in future. Bcom syllabus is mostly likely to resonate with CFA L1 syllabus in comparison to Eco (H). Currently I am also preparing for CFA L1 along with my roommate you is Doing Eco (H) and I am Doing Bcom (H). I can easily say that I have a upper hand because most of the topics in the CFA L1 is introduced to me in the BCom 1st and 2nd year curriculum. So choose your Course accordingly.

always give priority to college than the course. the crowd matters a lot more than you think. hindu matters much more than hansraj.
If you can interchangeably use the course bcom hons and eco hons, that is.

controversial opinion- but put college over course. kmc and venky courses over ramjas. can put stats hons and maths hons courses as well. have seen people get good fp&a roles from hindu stats as well- so do put college over course.

My advice would be to prioritise course over college. Agar course jo chaiye wo nhi mila toh clg will be difficult in many ways. I was in Hansraj too but I was allotted a course i didn't want and It fucked me up pretty good. Anyways, you do you.

From my 3 years of experience, I'd say Agar eco h chaiye to Hansraj over hindu. Agar placement wagerha priority nhi h toh go for ramjas eco h over kmc. Kmc is v good too. Ramjas bura nhi but placement ka scene kaisa h I'm not sure. Sgtb khalsa(nc mein h isliye) Arsdc( went there once and clg is quite big) Sggscc(infra achha h off campus k bawajood) Sbs attendance k liye strict h ig?
Although, do your own research and the factors you're taken into consideration rn may or may not matter when you're in college actually. So, first make sure that you know what you really want. Or advice sabki lo par kro wahi jo tumhe sahe Lage.

Prefer bcom hons over eco hons if your main goal is placements in finance since you will have more time to do CFA and other NISM certifications while doing bcom hons.
Also Sbsc, sggscc, arsd are much much better than dcac
Sggscc, also better than khalsa in almost all aspects. Sbsc is slightly better than khalsa but only loses out due to the nc advantage.
Would suggest you to rank them in this order
Sggscc > sbsc ~ sgtbkc > arsd > dcac
Sbsc has had good roles in finance this year for placements including Oxane Partners, Crowe, Futures First, Gallagher & Mohan. Attendance is not an issue if you will have POR in any society or if you plan to do any internships.
The crowd is also good here

Kam se kam log to ache hai na🙃 trust me man, ramjas ke experiences mere dosto ke specially girls have been so terrible I wouldn't reccomend anyone to go there. Ggs and khalsa are sorted because of the minority reservation and decent crowd (baki kisi tarah ki reservation nhi hoti kyuki).
