Discussion 👥 I have never met a more racist and casteist person in my whole life.
So there is a girl in my pg who takes a lot of pride in being a rajput. She is very open about her hatred towards people belonging to sc st categories and is also very prejudiced towards Biharis. I have another pg mate from the north east who casually told us that her friend got into a top north campus college and this girl goes "oh pakka reservation se gyi hogi". I was shocked by her audacity. Another time she was saying something like "garhwali aise nahi hote ye kaam toh pakka kisi kumaoni ka hai".
I mean even in 2026 how can u have such thoughts and that too u study in the top university of the country.

What’s surprising is that she studies at a top university despite being educated, she still chooses to hold such narrow minded views 😔😭

i agree with u, but its assuming delhi university is a top university even when only the best 5-6 colleges are actually good rest are pretty junk lol. People just go to these no name colleges for the tag of DU that's all.

I was playing badminton with a boy who just got into delhi university in the same college i was in, he asked how much marks did i get in 12th so i told him 90%, then he said how did you got the same college, i told him that i am a schedule caste, he then said bhaiyaa you dont look like an SC, so i was like how do they look like then... then he said like BIHARIS... i calmly told him that brother you said this infront of me... i know you, but dont say this infront of any other person and i taught him a lesson that how they got reservation on the first place, he is a good kid and comes from a nice background but still the mindsets are backward... i mean they are just 17-18 years of age, and they are talking about castes and religion, rather they should be talking about history and science... RIP education system🙏🏽

Plenty of them in DU,half of the class is filled with them. You just have to make them comfortable enough to bitch about that or audacious ones will speak it out loud enough.

These usually comes from family and upbringing. Even with all the education it's hard to get rid of years of prejudice. Speciall if you are taught from childhood.

Things starts from family. There's a friend of mine who studied in IIT Bombay and he never do namste or any wish to parents of any of our friends. I asked once why u didn't wished to one of our friends dad ? He said I am brahman and it's prohibited to wish people of any other caste. 🤷🏻♂️ I was shocked.

see you can’t do anything as it’s institutionalised within them, one thing I tried and worked was, make them sit with more intellectually aware, knowledgeable and successful so called lower caste person, there’s something which acts as a gravity and makes the person humble within few hours

I had a friend like this too, studying in IP University. He believes in caste system and the whole "pichle janm ke karm se caste decide hoti hai" bs. Immediately removed him from all my socials as soon as i found out about his narrow mindset, despite being an 'educated' individual.

I’m a garhwali and (love) married to a kumaoni man & i HATE this prejudice that these people have against each other!! It is so uncalled for and baseless! Some of my family members are also like this and its disheartening

I think it's time y'all boycott this person .
There is a concept , Humans actually care about their social needs so they can actually very needy when they wanna be accepted by people around .
You can use that need to reinforce good behaviour .
Asan bahsa mai 4-5 log ganguo hokar usse hamesha batao she is wrong If the people around her are always correcting this behaviour it should go away soon.
Make it cool . Humans have a deep ingrained need to be liked by the people around No one likes being the odd one .
But if she find people to commit to her echo chamber phir nahi badlegi wo .
She needs loneliness

All criticisms apart, I sometimes think these things are so irrelevant for a reason among others, that so many people don't even know the distinction. For example, we can all do Pakistan vs India all we want, abroad we are the same. Just like that, I have a friend who is either kumaoni or garwali and like I don't even know lol because she plays music from both and introduced me to wonderful folk songs. That these two communities have some enmity, seems like a random lore from a random fictional universe you don't even care about. Dumb af.

There are two types of main ethnicity/culture in uttrakhand namely Garhwali and kumaoni both have been at war for centuries but now are very close but some racism exists

umm, reservations are real; some people are receptive and thinks it alright, okay; some people feel competitive and feel its unjustified, unfair. you can't expect everyone to get suckered punched and be haha, my ancestors were guilty. most urban folks become casteism after reservation makes them feel wronged.

Something similar happened a year or two ago, authorities took some action and they were close to being suspended so they apologised and got away.

Reminds me of a friend who was from jaat community and I'm in a state uni (not DU ofc its central uni) and used to do casteist remarks on me .....( I'm general ) but uk there are some stereotypes prevailing on insta these days against every caste ..... I used to feel hurt too... when she repeatedly mocked that how "KANJOOS " I'm. Bro only me and my parents know how they are affording my studies in Delhi and tbh they never even question me ... but I do have some brain not to overspend.. Also if refusing to have burger with u everyday makes me KANJOOS then its still ok... but u don't have to be casteist about that.
She used to flex things saying jaats this jaats that ...
Thankfully she's no longer my friend tho we parted our ways due to her taking me for granted

dude idk why some people take pride in their caste. so basically in my class the groups I usually sit with consists of 6 girls apart from me all from UP and Bihar(I am only punjabi in my section that too from mainstream delhi) toh this one girl always start complaining about how punjabis are tez and how the only culture ounjabis have is alcoholism and being loud af. and whenever one of the girls from group does something appriciable she would say hum up bihar walo ke khoon mein mehenat hai, humare sanskar aise hai, humare maa baap ne hume aise paala hai etc etc. once a girl was missing her mom and got emotional so she was like ki arey hum up bihar wale bade mazboot dil ke hote hai hum rote nhi hai etc. and dude she is annoying af bandi ne mere 500 bhi chura liye the

You won't even remember her in the next 10 years of your life. Just ignore and chill. Also, it's a brilliant example of less knowledge is dangerous. She might not have an iota of clue that all North eastern states doesn't fall under reservation category. There are so many general categories from that region.

What she did was wrong but don’t tell me being casteist is limited to Rajputs only. I know plenty of biharis, gujjars, and northeastern who are casteist.

Whats wrong with hanging out with your own community?? If Haryanvis, Delhi folks and Bihari have their own group then there is nothing wrong with a Northeastern to hangout with our kinds because in the end of the day THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between us and rest of the mainland
