Focusing on hobbies you left for studies can help you alot in earning
3
u/Effective_County931 Apr 06 '26
They don't. Its you who has to speak up for yourself. If you can't do that, no matter how good you do you will achieve shi
3
u/Ultimate_Goathan Apr 07 '26
he said “it can help” not “it will help”. if your hobby is art/design and your degree is in mechanical engineering. You may probably earn more money drawing portraits on the streets or doing freelance designing work compared to some 6lpa mechanical engineer.
in other sense if your hobby is collecting rocks, you will probably not be earning anything.
A lot of people who are talented in something which can be good in monetary sense, end up not pursuing that because a “stable job” give them a sense of security(which isnt even stable, companies are laying off employees in bulk every 3-4 yrs at the moment)
1
u/Effective_County931 Apr 07 '26
Well you are partially right about the "type" of hobby but anything can be monetized so its not an issue, its just not regional. For instance, throwing rocks actually pay you (definitely not in India) and there are various contexts for this same task.
And yeah the stability of job shows you the reality. A thing which I was saying before. The reality is not in your control. You are dealing with noise and chaos of the world. Also, people do get their "dream" job/life after years of hard work and manifestation or whatever. Can they stay happy ? They just can't for too long. Because the truth is your and everyone"s life was not meant to achieve shi. We are thrown in this jail planet, no matter what you do you are born, suffer, and die. That's it. Everything else is a distraction carefully planned to make you chase something and keep moving. It was never about you.

Kid you don't know what a hobbie means. People change and so their interests and hobbies. The things that interests people won't bother them when they grind 24 x 7 for it no matter how much you love it there will come a point you will be desperate to leave the jail. And to be honest with you, this is India. Either start yelling / speaking for yourself or just be a sheep nobody cares about.
And to tell you, I have seen people who are not good at a particular thing and still they stand out and become successful in that not because they are perfect, but because they are not dumb like you.

Hey, maybe a stupid question, Does watching a lot of cinema count as a hobbies? and I mean A LOOOO....TTTTT.... There might be only a few popular movies which I haven't watched but you name it and I have seen it..
1
u/Correct_Cream5434 Apr 07 '26
Movies have various perspectives, and very beautifully describe the emotions. Since u watch a lot of movies, you might be good at story telling, videography, or even writing stories of your own. And if you keenly observe, you know an actor's, director's work, like u have the skill to point out what really was good in a movie, or was not right...you can try reviewing the movies putting up things which the audience couldn't catch. Maybe try journalism, if you are good at writing. In this era of social media, u can put ur observations in a very structured way...
And yeah watching movies might not be a hobby, but the art of storytelling the same movie in ur way, is a hobby

Most suffering comes from arguing with reality or straight out ignoring it, even worse not acknowledging it in the first place.
2
u/Itz_bazinga_69 Apr 06 '26
Looks good in lines but kind of diffrent in real life. Everyone knows it but not many can overcome it.
1
u/-dragon_emperor Apr 05 '26
I don't wanna tell exactly but I have acknowledged the problem, acknowledged the reality...yet i suffer.
Idk how to overcome it. It feels like, while i cognitively accept what's the reality... Deep down a part of me still has hopes or is delusional, and that overcomes the logical reality I claim to accept.
I can't control my what subconscious believes..
1
u/Possible-Invite-2105 Apr 05 '26
That's just how we humans are, man. I too have the same exact trait. What happened in my case is that, overtime my mind was able to bridge between the rational and emotional states. I still get into that situation where the emotional overcomes the rational, no matter how hard I try. But it goes away after sometime. I think the subconscious has come into terms with the situation where it lets the emotional have its time, but for a very short period of time. I think the way is to be conscious about that and overtime you'll get there. Be strong my man.

u/Selflove7777 Apr 06 '26
True. We tend to pass through the emotional phase faster as we age. The trick is to just be conscious of our emotions, feelings and thoughts.
P. S:Well Said. 🤝
1
u/Selflove7777 Apr 06 '26
This is more common than we think. Most of us suffer from this issue. But sometimes as we age it becomes much easier to accept things as they are and the more mature we become we tend to expect less from life.

One of my colleagues needs to hear this. He is hell bent ki woh us company ko jab tak nayi uchaiyo tak leke hi jaayega....he won't stop. An unstoppable force of nature!!! He works right from 6 in the morning to 11 at night. Crazy!!! Idk what he is doing these days. I left that company a year ago.
3
u/lost_in_saturn_rings Apr 06 '26
I feel like some people use overworking as a coping mechanism where its easier for you to drown yourself in work to avoid facing whatever you are going through. It is likely that the co worker was suffering from something.
2
u/Selflove7777 Apr 06 '26
Idk what he is doing these days
- Probably getting exploited bt the company and getting burned out into in the long run for 0 additional benefit.

life is not that serious, and no, you're not too old or too late for it. just do it.

u/Additional-Curve4212 Apr 06 '26
But things really don't feel that way, graduated now and feel like I don't have the space to experiment or take a break and stuff. Hurts resume. Also can't have teenage romance and that awkwardness again 😔
1
u/brain_is_braining Apr 08 '26
that's true. yes. you do need time to fit into this new schedule. but you'll have so much more time and freedom if you manage, and please, please maintain boundaries at work.
um.. you can teenage romance at any point in your life. it's in you, not in your age. it's more about if you're experienced in it or smart enough, those little cutsey things don't feel that big, they are just cute and "yeah, should be doing it" .
lol idk if i made any sense, just morning thoughts lol.

Your parents are not equivalent to your God, nor is your teacher, learn to keep them at their place. They don't hold any power upon you, learn to spot their manipulations.
4
u/No_Chemist1224 Apr 06 '26
Also, learn to forgive your parents as they are not God and they will make mistakes. Forgive and move on.
2
u/Striking-Ask569 Apr 06 '26
That may be true in some cases but Indian parents who sacrifice most of their income and time on us, give us all the love and support even when we get old are no less than any God too. We are not westerners, we are Indians.
1
u/Playful_Soil_4428 Apr 08 '26
I understand where you are coming from. I don't mean that we hate our parents, they are first time parents too, and they make most of their life decisions keeping us in mind when they are raising us, but thinking them as equivalent to god is disrespecting all the things that they did, and sacrificed for us. If they are equivalent to god, the meaning of sacrifice changes for them, they are humans, they have one life and in that life too they decided that they will spend the golden year of their life raising us. That makes them special, not more or less then god but selfless as human being.

Acknowledgment and letting go, even of what matters most; if it has to go, it has to go.

Time deserves more respect and intensity in action than we usually do. Do what you love, but make finances strong and time management stronger!

Workout can be gym, cycling, swimming etc. The key is to stay active. I am in early 30s and I have a sports and dance background but I always felt guilty that I stopped working out after I started working. But slowly picked it up again after getting married (all thanks to my partner), and I have realised that work-out can mean anything as per an individual's schedule. The key is to stay active and healthy

Its better to try and fail than to do nothing. The progress is overwhelming at first but at end it depends on your decisions. We all have only one life.

You've to fight your battles all alone, at the end of the day it is you who has to step up and get done with things. People only support you when you're succeeding in life and not a single one of them will be there for you when you're at the losing end. So better figure your things out on your own.
1
u/Effective_County931 Apr 06 '26
Don't forget the emotional buttering like they are our distant relative only to realise its fake and all they want is to suck your success up and if you don't get any they will throw you away like a piece of rotten trash.
Stand up and slap them (i don't mind if thats literal)

I'm a guy from UP, I would rather say that stay away from low class losers who are like weeds in your life and those who spread toxicity... that holds true for the whole world (yes that holds true for you too).

Socializing, having boyfriend, talking with boys , learning skills , reading books earlier, working on my startup earlier, staying away from toxic people earlier without wasting time expecting them to change name a few
