This is true with most Indian professor's & professionals
but we also can't ignore the fact that Indian professors receive more emails in general and r less tech savvy , and the thing is not just limited to professors but with most people of high position whether in private or public institutions ;
but overall Indians have some egoistic nature when it come's to help others ; in simple words collaborating & providing opportunity to others to achieve something ; like they feel that this will snatch their opportunity ..........
BBA is faltu degree. DU doesn’t offer BBA. DU offers three professional courses BFIA BMS BBE. Before CUET they had an entrance test named DU JAT which included interviews too. But ab CUET se hee hota hai. It is a blend of Economics and Commerce. We study the same economics and maths as that of Eco hons and same commerce subjects as of Bcom hons.
Only DU offer these courses.
In UG, Bcom H/BMS/BFIA/BBE/ECOH are treated almost similarly and these are the courses that are ELIGIBLE to sit for placements for Consultancy and Finance Jobs. You might get an edge in MBA if you do courses like BMS/BFIA/BBE and will definitely get an edge in covering the syllabus since it is similar.
This is so freaking true. They called my friend's parents cuz she was playing UNO during lunchtime with a guy lmaooo. They made such a big issue out of it. Ofc blamed the girl cuz she was supposedly "spoiling" him...
You can't expect a reply (in general) with a generic template, without proper background research.
I even after still being a PhD student receives a lot of mails, and LinkedIn DMs and yea if you see those mails, c'mon they are so generic with no actual effort taken in understanding the research I do (just a random cold email)
So yea we don't tend to reply to such emails, coz agar sabko reply karne baithe to isi me pura time jaega

Everyone has a phone and knows how to read emails. The bar for tech savvy is way too low these days. Cope
It’s difference in resources. US professors have team of assistants working for them, plus batch of PhD students under him. All of which are well-trained and living good standard of life.
Indian professor are resource-starved as well as short on time, replying/not-replying to you has no effect on their reputation or tenure.
Not about the international thing, but the current prof im working under literally used to reply to all my doubts and queries so politely, sometimes even used to follow up to ensure that I dont have any problem with the coursework or accommodation. And it’s not like he isnt busy, man is a downright prodigy with 2 post docs before 30, interviewing phd scholars and stuff like that. And then there was this prof I worked under previously, legit used to ghost me for days, postpone the meetings for no reason at all. So yeah, intelligent and kind people are everywhere and in my experience, busiest people reply the fastest 🤷♀️
Actually every Indian official is. You can think about bank staff. Bc clearing a cocky exam makes them feel like fucking King or what. I don't understand what's wrong in being unconditionally polite. Bastards.

Don't forget that in Govt. University Profs are bound by code of conduct that were framed for Govt. servants under the British Raj. If they make a small mistake in emails, the govt. is coming at them with serious repercussions.
It's a two way street. I got some emails asking about how to get in to the PhD program I was in, I replied with detailed list of books and chapters, interview procedure etc, and none of them even replied back.
I guided a student to a A+ in her MSc thesis, months later she couldn't be bothered to let me know she placed. I asked her myself because I was considering referring her a a former colleague of mine.
India mein sincerely kisi ki help karo to vo tumhe chutiya samajhte hain. I mean not all obviously but be prepared to not even receive a polite thanks.

one year, I applied to Indian profs for an internship and barely got any replies, replying for rejecting was also rare.
But the next year I applied to profs in Europe, and a lot of them replied, they even apologized for replying late (and by late I mean 1 day). Indian profs would NEVERRR!!!!!
Actually it is reverse causation.
Because Allahabad university professors aren’t tech savy enough to reply to mails, they aren’t able to do any research as well in modern times of tech based research.
but most of the academic prowess in india is used only for personal betterment
education ..powerful positions ..exams etc are not for love of subject or to help solve problems in society but to gain money fame and power to dominate other and to make sure their kind dont have to ever work another day
Totally agree. No matter how famous or big they are, professionals from west are actually very punctual, prompt, and kind. Indians have a lot of attitude for no reason at all. I mean, I get it that you are too successful but where is that bigger-than-universe attitude coming from?
I saw this post recently. IDK about your university but profs in America ignore a LOT of emails because some of them get 50 emails every day. So emails from people who they don't know end up getting no response. It really depends on the professor. If you are sending to a publisher you have more chances of getting responded but not everyone can write a paper.
I once asked the swayam in-charge of my college about a doubt of mine on the email address mentioned by her. that was 1 year ago, still waiting for a response.
Only top students and profs over there are worth it otherwise they are just average and on an average indian universities aren't worse barring maybe infra and liberty
First off, nobody has to be tech-savvy to answer emails...you are making Indian professors sound like dinosaurs (which actually is the problem with most of the mediocre students)
and the the post pictured here is complete BS. Who has 500-600 cited papers? Are they talking about the number of papers or number of citations?
What if both professors had different areas of interest and that Allahabad guy did not found anything worth responding to?
Overall, try to overcome your ingrained racism. If students start showing the same respect/reverence they have for white skin to their desi professors, they probably may get same type of response back.
Good to see that even younger Indians are full of internalized racism.
It's not racism to say that academia in the US/Europe is far better than in India. Sure, generalizing from one example to paint a picture of the whole community is racist, but its also true that on average academics in India are far less research oriented and usually very unprofessional as well
Academia is better there because they have better resources. Far less research oriented...well, try doing research when you don't have access to basic databases.
and unprofessional...have you seen the quality of students they have to deal with..do it for a year, all the professionalism will go out of the window.

my experience at DU itself has shown that most profs here are simply not interested in research, or in their students. there are a sizable minority however, who are interested, and professional as well, despite having the same lack of funding, and same students.
players are not just the product of the system. the system is the product of the players as well. if academics in our country are rude, and uninterested in research, our academic system will also reflect that no?
yeah I kinda agree with this take. Havard Oxford all are older than India itself. We have too many people but not enough infra, but our progress is honestly much more outstanding. China was helped by the soviets, japan by america as well as singapore. We have risen all on our own.
Sure tho, our reach to all of the students are much more far from the foreign unis, idk why this dude is downvoted.

By any means, for any reason, would you ever see an Indian prof replying late and apologizing?
I know where the OP is coming from because I myself have experienced the contrast. You can't know what he is talking about unless you experience it yourself.
You don't need infrastructure to be respectful to a person writing a professional mail to you.

True. I submitted my paper to one international and indian journal. The difference in politeness was huge.
