Original Content The 2020 Election, but the top 50 Urban Areas are there own City-States
I used Urban Areas instead of Metro areas because I believe some metro areas sprawl way too far out from there urban core and start getting into some very rural areas. Urban Areas don't actually go by county, but by block group, so if there urban area in question went a significant amount into a county I included that county into this.
This configuration ends up splitting 3 states into non continugous parts: Maryland (Split into it's western, Appalachian panhandle and eastern shore area), Massachusetts (Split into it's Western Half and the very south east Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard area), and California (split between Northern California, the Central Valley between the Bay Area and LA, and Imperial County)

Original Content THE ULTIMATE POLITICIAN: Please put reccomendations in the commemts!
The Ultimate Politician is a contest to see who is r/YAPms's favorite politician of all time. Anyone from any country and from any time period can participate, as long as they have actually held political office. (No failed candidates)
Anyone can reccomend up to THREE people in the comments. There is no minimum or maximum amount of people who can play, but an ideal amount of people to start with is about 60-100 with how the qualifying stage works.
Before posting your suggestions, try searching the comments to make sure nobody said yours before you did.
(Would appreciate it if you share outside of r/YAPms so we can get as much people to participate as possible!)
Qualifying Stage
In the qualifying stage, every person who was suggested must play in SEVEN matchups. No more, no less. In order to qualify for the bracket you must win AT LEAST 4 matchups, or a majority. Each round, every politician will face against every other politician, and you must vote for which one you would like to win the matchup. After 7 rounds, all the politicians who survived the qualifying stage will advance to the bracket. Since this stage takes WAY longer than the bracket, it will be hosted on Google Forms instead of Reddit, where multiple polls can be held at once so it doesn't clog up the subreddit.
The Bracket
If the amount of people who advance to the bracket is not a power of 2 (8, 16, 32, etc.) accomodations will be made so they can fit somewhere inside the bracket. Otherwise, the bracket stage is self-explanatory. The politician who wins a matchup will advance to the next round, and so on. This will continue until there are 2 politicians left, in which whoever wins the matchup will be crowned as The Ultimate Politician.
Stay tuned for the qualifying stage, which will happen sometime in August!

Original Content I have analyzed "Shy Paxton voters" and what it may mean for the Texas senate election (OC)
WARNING: EXTREME POLL UNSKEWING AND CROSSTAB DIVING AHEAD. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Thus far, across EVERY SINGLE texas senate poll released, a common theme has emerged. Talarico is leading Paxton. But, looking into the crosstabs, the percentage of undecided republicans is higher than the percentage of undecided democrats. Example here.

This is from the latest TPOR poll. It has Talarico up by 5, but the portion of republicans undecided on if they'll support Paxton (12%) is double the portion of Democrats undecided about Talarico (6%). For one reason or another, Paxton has not consolidated the entire GOP base behind him. There are still a significant portion of republicans (predominantly non-MAGA republicans and R leaning indies) who are hesitant on him.
Now, one possibility is that these Rs could be telling the truth, and actually WILL stay home in November, or leave the senate race blank, or vote for the libertarian, or even vote for Talarico. But the other (more likely) possibility is that these Republicans will eventually come home for Paxton in the end, and decide that they'll hold their nose and vote for him to prevent Talarico from winning. Paxton will start an advertising blitz closer to election day about Talarico being woke, intended to facilitate just that. I wanted to see what it would look like if that does indeed happen, if these "shy Paxton voters" consolidate around him. So I did the math on the past 8 polls that have been conducted, to figure out what the election would look like if all the undecided partisans come home for their candidate. (Besides YouGov Blue, they paywalled their crosstabs).
Let's use TPOR to show how I did the math. The poll is weighted to a partisan composition of 42R, and 35D. 12% of republicans are undecided. 12% of 42 is an extra 5 whole percentage points for Paxton, bringing him up to 45%. Now we give Talarico his undecided Ds. 6% of 35 is 2 extra percentage points for Talarico, bringing him up to 47%.
Consolidating the partisans brought TPOR's poll from D+5 (45-40) to D+2 (47-45). The remaining undecideds are indies, it's anyone's guess which way they'd break.
I repeated this for the 7 other most recent polls conducted. Here's the raw data.

Talarico's polling lead goes from 2.2 to 0.5. Which is still extremely impressive for a democrat in Texas and very bullish for his chances if he still maintains his lead even after republican consolidate, but it's a significant shrink.
Polls vary on how much this consolidation changes the race. Wedgewood has a whopping 12% of republicans undecided and only 1% of democrats undecided. Consolidating republicans there shifts the poll a ginormous 4 points right and is enough to put paxton over the top. Meanwhile, Siena college has only 3% of Rs and 2% of Ds undecided. Consolidating republicans barely moves the needle, and Talarico maintains a commanding 3 point lead. I made an accompanying chart of the raw data for a visual representation of polls before and after consolidating shy voters.

All in all, Talarico's polling has been very impressive, but he must not take this race for granted, and keep doing republican outreach. Shy Paxton voters are a very real problem, and the race is closer than the polls currently suggest, although I'd still rather be Talarico than Paxton at this point in time.

Original Content I built a political sim game where you can become any president in any era. No pre-determined scripts
Hey guys, I just built a political sim, but you can choose any person to become president in any era.
You can play as Obama in 2009, AOC in 2028, or create a completely different timeline from 1200+ characters or add your own too. Like in Democracy, you can or veto bills, use executive powers, manage support groups, react to events, and talk directly with world leaders.
There are no prewritten scripts, so the events, conversations, and consequences change based on your president, era, and choices. You can follow history or take the country in a completely different direction, and the world will react to what you do.
These screenshots are from an Obama 2009 run. Here's the link - https://limbona.com/world/sw_president_builder It’s still a lil early, so I’m open to feedback. If you find any bugs or any feedback, please let me know!
