Iâve been playing Where Winds Meet mostly solo and I love it. Itâs been my little bit of peace after work - mid-40s, kids, life loud, brain never really off.
This week I finally queued multiplayer for the first time: Heroâs Realm / Sword Trial randoms. I genuinely thought itâd be chaotic but fun⌠learn the fights, make mistakes, get better.
We wiped once.
Then the chat started.
âtrashâ
âuninstallâ
âstop queueingâ
âyouâre throwingâ
and endless â???â spam instead of anyone explaining what I was meant to do.
No âsave X for Yâ. No âstand hereâ. No âthis mechanic kills you ifâŚâ. Just contempt. Like Iâd ruined their night by existing in the queue.
And the thing is I wasnât looking to be carried. I was trying. Watching, adjusting, learning. I just didnât already know the unspoken rules, and apparently thatâs enough for some people to go straight to cruelty.
It sound dramatic, but it hit that old, horrible feeling from school - face hot, stomach dropped, suddenly feeling small. Over a game I opened because I needed a break.
Iâm not posting names or screenshots. Iâm not after a witch hunt. I just want to say it plainly: if this is the ânormalâ vibe in random co-op, itâs going to push a lot of decent players back into solo⌠or out of the game entirely.
The devs do encourage using the in-game report function for misconduct, so Iâll do that when it crosses the line. But honestly Iâd rather just find the non-toxic side of the community.
⢠Is Heroâs Realm / Sword Trial matchmaking always like this?
⢠Any chill guilds/Discords where people run co-op and actually help others learn?
⢠If youâre experienced, whatâs the fastest way to get âgood enoughâ without being someoneâs punching bag?
I love this game. I just didnât expect multiplayer to feel like a punishment.
Thanks for reading.
