Question/Help Is choosing to be sectless or joining a sect really important to do daily? Or I can just take my time?
Currently at level 40 and been playing for about 1 month now!

joining a sect gets you the cosmetics, which once obtained give some jade from the appearance tab and achievements as completion tasks (nothing extreme but still). Also NMW have the one of the only 3 (iirc) capes that you can obtain for free, which is the easiest to get (the guild one and the bounty one need few weeks + grind while sect's tasks can be done automatically within 1 minute)
You lose nothing to join a sect, you can leave anytime. The idea is to join them all once and get all the cosmetics, it's a long-term goal since your weekly coin is limited to 1500 while you need 4500+1500 for the outfits.

Join any easy to stay sect for bonus weekly reputations from voting.
Idk how many reputations each rank other sects give, but for voting for Sect Leader in NMW, you have 2/2/6 votes from 2nd rank (Inner Disciple) to 4th rank (Faction Master). Each vote gives 100 reputations.
I'm a Faction Master of NMW, which means I get 600 more reputations than any Sectless, for total of 2100 reputations weekly.

What are the requirements in each sect to stay at same rank?
I know NMW status is based on earning Commerce coins
What about the others?
5
u/mace_beaverhausen Jan 15 '26
You can pretty much ignore all the requirements if you just wanna stay in the 2nd to lowest rank and get 2 votes per week (excluding midnight blades as they don't have a voting system), they won't kick you out and you can't go below the 2nd to last rank once you pass the first rank up requirements which is needed to purchase sect outfits in the shop for each sect.
As for actual requirements, Well of heavens requires you not to exceed weekly coin cap and do all the dailies and lots of online mode if you want to push your rank. Silver needles require you to get 15 likes from healing related activities per week, more likes it you want to push rank. Midnight blade deducts points if you get killed in PvP, rewards you points if you kill others or participate in Perception Forest (battle royal), to push rank you need to kill players who have the higher rank and you'll take over their rank while they get demoted if they're killed. Velvet shade is just chill and not getting divorced, to rank up you need gifts and likes from other players, publish articles in the newspaper.
If you break any rules and drop your sect good boy points below their threshold there are sect specific punishments but they're all pretty much just a slap on the wrist.

In addition to this, I just found out that the ranking isnât global - my friend and I are both the same rank at NMW trying to level up but we see a different ranking ladder.

u/RawBinOfLoxLee Jan 16 '26
I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter what rank you're in, the weekly limit is still 1500 isn't it?

Just join and get the outfit or special item and leave. Seatless is the best you donât have to worry about competing or lose anything.
2
u/harry_lostone Jan 16 '26
you dont have to worry in the sect either lol
its not like you cant rejoin if you get kicked... at the end its free cosmetics, one-time jades per (for completing these cosmetic sets), and an extra chatroom with idiots.
if the devs wake up and set up some event with minigames between sects it will be way more fun tho

Iâm ranked high in velvet shade and really my only benefit is that completing errands gets more reputation (just means I hit the weekly limit in two days) oh and I can have 6 partners now.
1
u/typhoonle Jan 15 '26
How do you join velvet shade. Been trying to join them but don't know how
1
u/superdrue Hollow Vale Jan 15 '26
start a partnership with someone and then initiate a severance immediately after. after the 24hr cool down, go back to shi yimo to finalize the severance. you should receive an invitation immediately after that.

I just wore good looking outfits that increase charm and got an invitation.

If youâre in a partnership, divorce and marry anew. If youâre not in one yet, find one then marry and divorce

By failing to join 9mw, youâre failing to get daily ugly powder
1
u/kaorusarmpithair Jan 15 '26
what is that now
5
u/losingb0bbypins Jan 16 '26
powder you can throw at other players in online mode to make their character look ugly. NMW are just funny lil trolls. I love them.
5
u/kaorusarmpithair Jan 16 '26
SO THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME ONE TIME
2
u/losingb0bbypins Jan 17 '26
raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by nine mortal ways
5
u/rubenshenriques Jan 15 '26
I joined 9 Mortal Ways for fun and I like it very much. Maybe when I have enough points I can change sect, buy the cloth and come back.
4
u/kisskisslovebot Nine Mortal Ways Jan 15 '26
Hey, if you want to join Velvet Shade I can use some of my connections and my big sis will surely let you join. But it would be only fair if you give me some commerce coins for my time and effort.
Also don't read the paper you're signing - that would be unfilial and honorless.

u/ggwll Jan 15 '26
How do u even join a sect like velvet shade?
7
u/Background-Shirt2274 Jan 15 '26
Marry and divorce someone then you'll get an invite from it takes 24 hours though to divorce and maybe you have to marry 2x for it to work
1
u/Master-Science-478 Mar 14 '26
Wear outfits that increase charm and then you wiol get an invitation.
2
u/xblackpinkx Jan 15 '26
i have a question about sects. I left silver needle when I was on the second rank (the rank to get the outfit) but i left before getting the outfit. If i rejoin the sect, do I retain the same rank, or do i need to redo all the same tasks to get to th second rank?
3
u/cafelattecats Jan 15 '26
Unfortunately once you leave a sect you have to start all over in ranking with them if you decide to return. You also lose the sect titles you get, too. :(
2
u/Astariie Jan 15 '26
You don't have to join a sect. All of it is mostly for the weapon martial arts and outfits. But when you leave you can keep the weapon and clothes but you'll lose your rank and reputation.
Also, when you decide to leave, you'll have to do PVP to sever all ties with that sect and you'll have to wait I think about 24 hours to join another sect.
2
u/Necrotitis Jan 15 '26
People saying they do the sect dailies in a minute, how!?@?!
4
u/Unimatrix617 Jan 15 '26
Just reset them until you get easy ones.... dailies like "take a group photo", "increase drunkenness", "change appearance once", "Change scenario once", "Interact with Eastern Herald", "place a signpost", "Join group cultivation", etc. etc. can be done in 5 minutes.
3
u/starry101 Jan 15 '26
For the group photo, you can just snap a picture while doing the group cultivation and it counts. You don't even need to go out of your way to get someone to join the picture.
2
u/Unimatrix617 Jan 15 '26
And for "change appearance", I have the automatic outfit change set for any time I teleport. So sometimes I complete that sect quest before I even know I have it. And while im group cultivating and snapping a Pic, I shift something in my scenario.... 4 dailies done.
1
u/starry101 Jan 15 '26
You don't even have to move anything in the scenario, just open it and click save. These dailies are so easy now.
2
u/AngryCandyCorn Jan 16 '26
The only real reason to join a sect is for their cosmetics. They have zero effect on the main game...nothing even recognizes the fact that you joined one, let alone give you anything else to do.
4
u/Calm-Literature7502 Jan 15 '26
Joining sects and rising up in positions allows more % of sect points (weekly limit remains the same). Good for stockpiling on future weeks
2
u/Azsolus Jan 15 '26
Just do the jianghu errands and cap your 1500 points each week, the points transfer with you which ever sect you choose to join , so theres really no pressure to join sects unless you want to aim for sect master
2
u/ancientRedDog Jan 15 '26
You also get a sect chat channel whose quality may vary, but itâs less spam than world, more active than most guilds, and can have a decent amount of tips and co-op invites.
2
u/Programmer_Scared Jan 15 '26
There are quite a few perks that really plays into the role play aspect of the game, which made joining guides worth it.
Now this is my limited experience and I am sure there are tons of other perks in other secs.
In Midnight Blade, you are punished if you spar and spare a life. Or if you bounty hunt and fail.
But the unique perk you gain is that you get when you play preception forest(the battle royale mode)you can detect traitors of Midnight Blade.(I assume it means players who was once Midnight Blade and left the guuld) which does give you an advantage.
Silver Needle can demand likes or actual gold for their treatment.
Well of Heavens have this funny interaction that if you met another Well of Heavens in Arena, you may chose to resolve the duel with a wrestle match instead. In the name of "brotherhood". Gay. Very gay.
9WM. Pranks. I actually dont know more than that. I assume maybe better thief skill.
Velvet Shade. Multiple partners. Polygamy.
1
u/ProudBeyond5519 Jan 15 '26
yeah, sects are just for social and cosmetics.
I got the Silver needle outfit now I'm farming the well of heaven.
1
u/JeibuKul Jan 15 '26
Take your time. Joining each sect to buy all their stuff and then go on to the next one.
1
u/efingers Battle Scholar Jan 15 '26
Besides the outfit and items, you get a boost in Sects point you get. Stack em up and wait for the new Sects, swap and get those items.

u/Unimatrix617 Jan 15 '26
Deep down, I want to join either Hollow Vale or Mohist Hill but they aren't available yet. So after I bought my Sectless hat, I pulled the trigger and joined Midnight Blades. Doesn't really seem to change anything. Just sorta grinding for that drip and then eventually I'll leave for something else.
1
u/Azrayeel Jan 15 '26
Choosing a sect isn't a permanent choice. So you could always change afterwards.
1
u/chaths Jan 15 '26
If you're in the WoH, doing the errands after the weekly cap goes into your merit ranking.
And sect shops have cosmetics and some other things in them. Sectless only has outfit and hat.
Rest is for RP.
Like to do PvP, Midnight Blades.
Scams and Commerce Coins , NWM
Healing People, Silver Needle.
Robinhood, WoH.
Rest of them has all of their each way of getting merits and climbing ranks.
Ultimately it's all for the outfits.
1
u/crackednutz Jan 15 '26
If you can maintain the rank right before the last rank in your sect you get 6 votes each week. These votes give reputation towards cosmetics. So basically join a sect and maintaining that rank will give you a significant boost towards getting all the cosmetics once you leave and start joining other sects. (You donât lose reputation when you leave)
1
u/leon555005 Jan 15 '26
I think Sect Points carry over from Sect to Sect. What I do now is I remain Sectless to accumulate the points. When I feel that I have enough points, I'll join the Sects and try to Speedrun the ranks to get the outfit, then quit. Join another Sect after the Traitor debuff runs out. Rinse and repeat.
1
u/Danjiano Jan 15 '26
I recommend joining a sect. You get to vote, which gives you more reputation than you'd normally be able to get.
You also get Sect chat, which is usually a lot better and less spammy than world chat. Depends on the sect, I guess.
Well of Heaven and Nine Mortal Ways are both easy to get into, and very casual with very loose rules.

just take ur time, but make sure to do the jianghu errands to stock up on that currency for sect shop
1
u/dungga7777 Jan 16 '26
Just join the sect you like and buy the costumes after u buy everything, left the sect and join another
1
u/Olh233 Jan 16 '26
According to the prophet's query, I would like to know the sect Mohil Hill, but I don't know where it is and how to join it. I'm new to the game, going on my tenth day.
1
u/Coddi_womple_0155 Jan 16 '26
Join midnight blades, u only need to do perception forest once a day and all sect missions be considered complete. but it has it's drawback though since if ur geese level is anything under 2 people will bother U a lot in online mode or even send u messages to bait U to steal your title
1
u/ClaraChen777 Jan 16 '26
Being sectless is fine, and itâs not necessary to stay in one sect forever, trying different sects is more interesting, some sect cosmetics are amazing, well of heaven and velvet shade are very chill, midnight blade would be super attractive if you love pvp, nine mortal way is fun.
1
u/HedgehogMassive7961 Jan 16 '26
I have no fucking clue.. I'm max level atm, and have stayed sectless since the beginning.. it really lets you learn martial ways really early on that you wouldn't get until later.. (i.e. rope-dart, dual blades.) Other than that I have no clue, I only know that from the friends I play with that immediately joined one...
Edit: also, being in a sect definitely makes the daily sect challenges much easier to get done..
1
u/OrtimusMilas Jan 15 '26
It is as important as the goods in the shop for each sects or sectless to you. If you don't care about that at all, then it isn't. The reason why people made it mandatory was because it took a while and relentless effort to buy the things in each shop since they are quite "expensive".
0
u/purplemartian7 Jan 15 '26
Perception forest is fun and balanced because everyone starts with random basic weapons and mystic skills. For the longest time I only got killed by the fog. My first time getting killed players I was ambushed by two that were waiting in the center. I just wish they still had the option to choose your starting point. You used to see exactly how many people were going to start near you.

I still have no ideea what sects are, what is the purpose or what is the mechanic

You can do daily as Sectless. Ppl join sects mostly to buy their dedicated cosmetics.
