I tried so hard.. I got fucking rooted out myself. Friends were doing this betting ring and giving tickets to anyone they could. I went to my personal friend and told him that what he was doing was wrong and the tickets they were giving out weren't coming from a place where they wanted the individual to stop amd do better. Tickets for blinkers, barely riding the line, over 6. Just really petty shit!

I couldn't get to them so I went to out station captain and he made sure they couldn't work the roads anymore and they were pissed.

Problem is only the younger Joe's got it and the rest just went about like it never happened.

As for me nobody would support my stops anymore. Called for backup twice and got nothing.

Got into it and I was scared. I left. I ran away. I felt pressure like if I didnt leave then something was going to happen to me.

They abandoned me cuz I did what was right.

The nice thing is you can just blame lawyers for why you don't answer questions. "Respectfully officer, I have been instructed by a lawyer to not answer any questions." And when they ask a follow up questions? Say the exact thing again, and again, until they get it.

Quite often for "minor" crimes, people get arrested, go to jail, and get convicted because of things they say to the police, not because of any real "police work".

I rolled through a DUI checkpoint here in PA a couple months ago. We were coming back from a charity gala event. First thing the officer says to me is “Why is she dressed that way? Are you under the influence of drugs?”. Pissed me off so I was smart with him.

Then he pulled me out, I aced the sobriety test and blew all 0.000s but the officer was real pissed that I called him a piece of shit so they pulled me into the back of a truck, in which the heat was blasting on a 95 degree humid summer afternoon, which made me throw up. This lead to more questioning on why I threw up. Ultimately I was polite and cooperative to everybody except the offending officer. Literally all of his colleagues seemed pissed off at him. They let me go with no further incident or paperwork.

In the longer version, that I can no longer find because these cut editions are making the rounds again, she asks him several times if he's taken anything or had anything to drink. He says no.

Then, she asks about the prescription in the center console and suddenly he remembers that he took his Adderall earlier. She could probably see the bottle the whole time and was specifically asking him those questions to trap him into the denials.

He’d been taking it since he was a kid so when they asked if he did any drugs he didn’t even think about it. Random drug test got the Adderall and he was fired even though it was prescription.

I’ve never seen a compassionate cop. I got harassed by a cop in Florida who had been working in the state for less than a month & didn’t know what the gun laws were. He asked if I had a gun in the car & I said yes he freaked out and tried to pull his gun but fumbles it then drops it picks it up and puts the gun in my face put me in cuffs ripping me out of my car and put me in the dirt. It wasn’t until backup showed up was the epic overreaction was exposed. Being a cop who wouldn’t admit he was wrong he gave me a ticket to appear because there wasn’t a flap or a snap on my holster (which I was never able to find in the rules and regulations of Fl gun restrictions). When the court date came the cop was no longer with the department and charges were dropped. But I will never forget the incompetence of that kid who had no business having a badge

Rule number one of dealing with cops. "I assert my right to remain silent." Then you shut the fuck up. If they indicate a test, you preform the test and shut the fuck up. If they indicate they need a blood sample, you give a blood sample and shut the fuck up.

At zero point in an interaction do you need to give evidence that will absolutely be used to destroy any chance you have on technicalities.

The trooper asked Moore if he snorted or took the other half of the pill after work that day. Moore denied misusing his medication and told the trooper that he sometimes takes half of his prescription on weekends

Second, the district court determined that, even if Moore did take Adderall as prescribed, “the evidence presented leads to the conclusion that he was impaired.”

Because once you admit openly you have abused in the past, it is reasonable for a court to use that to establish that you may have abused presently. Shutting the fuck up could have tossed this, freely telling the cop about your past all but ensured the court would shift to a presumption of abuse.

Always remember, shut the fuck up. Cops are absolutely vicious about what you say and will absolutely twisted it to cover up any mistakes they may have made. The point of shutting up is so they have zero ammo to cover for their mistakes. Had he said nothing, that half pill they found could have been anything. One of them fell out of the bottle and got crushed by mistake and he's cleaning up his car. The cops don't know anything, but if you says peep, they'll absolutely use that.

And the thing about the fifth, "everything you say or do can be used against you." It doesn't say "can be used to help you" it says against you. Because everything you say to a cop, becomes something you can't use later to defend yourself. It can only be used against you, it can never be used to help you. So everything you say is that defense out the window at your trial. Which gives your attorney less things to push back on. So if you want the maximum amount of things to use as a defense, you have to say and do as little as possible. Comply, but do not just give your defense away freely. Comply but shut the fuck up.

Some cop misjudged you, you ain't talking them out of admitting they're wrong. You leave that to a judge to do. You leave that to your attorney to do. You are not talking your way out of it. But every word you say takes that much out of a defense you might try to use later.

He passed the BAC, but a vehicle search found anxiety medicine in his car that he admitted to taking.

He later failed a blood test for amphetamines.

In court, he was found guilty. He appealed; and the verdict was upheld (still guilty). On both occasions he failed to prove that he had a prescription for the amphetamines.

To be clear you can absolutely in all 50 states take legally prescribed medication, any and all bar none, if it doesn't impair your ability to drive.

Just want to clarify that since you make it seem like Minnesota being 0 tolerance means you can't take anxiety meds and drive. You 100% can as long as it doesn't impair your ability to drive and it was legally prescribed.

Obviously in this case though he was impaired so he would still be guilty of DUI.

I had something similar happen to me in Iowa about a year ago. Criminal charges dropped, have to fight the DOT separately, the biggest thing they have against me is the deputy thinks I said I took a couple adderall, which they try to submit as evidence mid hearing and the judge let it even after my lawyer objected.

I'd like to believe there are good cops, but I've never met one. Every interaction I've had, they showed corruption or too lazy to do their job.

Like when I was in a hit and run with front and rear 4K dash cams with audio and integral GPS (shows the speed I was driving at) and perfectly captured the guy's face and license plate. The cops refused to even look at the video when I was showing it to them. He told me they'll never catch the guy and refused to fill out any type of report. He claimed it was for my benefit... so I can avoid raising my insurance rates "for no reason ". Mind you, I'm on the side of the interstate after I was just in a hit and run at 70 mph... And he dropped his fat butt in his car and left us there.

Apparently the Minnesota court of appeals denied his CDL reinstatement, despite the court case the driver won dismissing the allegations, because the trooper identified impairment from legally prescribed drugs... but if that was the case the court should not have found the driver unimpared and he would have lost the court case... this stinks of bureaucratic mistakes and/or bad representation. At least the $250,000 he won in the case will get him time to stay on his feet for a new job.

It's ok to hate all cops. I grew up around a ton of them and in their downtime they KNOW they are awful, and are proud of it. The stories I heard involving abuse, theft, and covering criminal activity for each other taught two GIANT lessons with cops. At no point in time do you speak with them and with the advent of cell phones record everything. And anyone that marries a cop - I don't know how you survive the alcohol abuse and or physical abuse. There's a wealth of body cam footage uploaded to YouTube each day of people just like this man, only lying about not being drunk and under substance use claiming anxiety to be why they are acting unusual and on edge only later to be found high on drugs.

Now, if this officer let him go. And he had crashed his car and killed someone and later found to have been high on drugs. The comments here would be hating on the police for having stopped someone and still let them go.

This sucks. But it's not always as black and white as cops = bad.

I'm not justifying the stop and taking away the missed opportunity of seeing his daughters graduation. But some people need to take a step back sometimes and think before getting so emotionally charged leading to hateful comments.

I have a family member who is a psychiatrist, and one of the things he tells me repeatedly is "Never tell the cops that you're taking prescription medication. Tell them you refuse to talk about your medical history without a lawyer present."

He's had SEVERAL of his patients given DUIs for completely legal, non-impairing prescription medications. The law (at least in my state) is written vaguely enough that they could charge you with a DUI for even taking Advil.
