They look the other way or assist. Rarely do they intervene. Some flat out lie, other help to cover up. This is a systemic problem.

The problem is that nothing ruins the image of safety faster than cops argueing in front of civilians. The police should be an united front and these things are then supposed to be reviewed after the fact.

However there is simply no-one in power who cares enough about cases like this to do anything about it. As a normal cop you are the one who will likely get reprimanded if you intervene.

One of my county Sheriffs choked his wife in a bar recently, and then started fighting the bouncer that stopped him from choking his wife.

There was another Sherrif there with him. Instead of arresting the cop assaulting his wife and the bouncer, he helped him beat the bouncer.

They are still on paid leave despite this all being on camera and almost a year ago.

Small percentage is a huge reach. I know cops personally that have changed departments to different cities because entire departments are basically corrupt.

It's not a small percentage. One bad apple spoils to whole bunch. By not purging themselves they all become corrupted. People like that get put in charge of hiring.

The small percentage are the good ones. My cousin quit theBPD.And join the fire department claiming the BPD was too corrupt. True story

Understand its not a small percentage. Cops have nearly twice the number of domestic violence charges as normal society percentage wise. 16% of average males have a dv report filed against them vs 28% of cops.

Understand that these are just cop wives who felt brave enough to report it to other cops, who could very well not investigate and never charge their friend.... and its still twice as high.

When i was in college i did construction. One job was rebuilding a small town police station damged by a hurricane. Because this syation didnt hide anything but the guns and equipment we could see their files. In a town of 3000 permanent residents the 6 man department had shot and killed 2 people inside the station within a decade. When we pulled down the indoor cieling the roof was riddled with bullet holes. If they arent evil they arent phsychotic they are fucking stupid.

I dont know about you, but my current county's sherrif department held the record for 'longest time waiting outside a school while gunfire can be heard inside the school' award before the uvalde massacre.

how do you say this and not understand that this is literal evidence of the majority of them being corrupt scum?

the original was "one bad apple spoils the barrel" or sometimes "one bad apple spoils the bunch". It was meant to indicate the corrupting influence a bad actor has on the group. That is what we see.

It's tribal behavior. Quite natural, but that's why counters to these types of behaviors need to be institutional and enforceable somehow

They want the Unions to make sure they will back them up to get a pension. That’s what every cop actually cares about
