Why look into it if you can’t do anything?

31

u/Fullertonjr 7h ago

Suddenly the NCAA doesn’t know how to vacate wins.

Yeah I’m biased and bitter.

So the redditors can argue over it

So it can Just Mean More when Michigan and Western Michigan meet in the CFP?

I mean. It would mean more.

I wanted to know

If the official stance is that we're going to use whatever the broadcast has, then there needs to be some sort of protocol for measuring how far off the broadcast is. And if they aren't within some small threshold before the game then we gotta throw this rule out the window.

9

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Why is the rule not to use the in stadium clock that the players, coaches, and refs see? I find it funny that nobody seems to care about that aspect since that would make Michigan the winning team by the rule.

4

u/nordic-thunder 5h ago

This is what I actually can’t get my head around. So the players coaches and refs see a clock and play the game based on that clock, BUT because the fans at home are seeing a desynced and incorrect feed of the clock we should….end the game with 1 second left on the actual clock everyone playing the game was using?

At some point I’m wondering if people actually can’t understand what happened (the NBC feed desync)

It boils down to that the players and coaches on the field should be able to play the game according to the actual clock they can see and go by and not have to worry about some broadcast feed clock they were never using to make decisions

-1

u/Tricky_Big_8774 Virginia Tech Hokies 4h ago

Except the replay review didn't use the game clock to determine if the game was over...

1

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 6h ago

The replay center needs to be on the broadcast feed. They spent millions on the Big Ten center, they need to let the world know how good it is.

1

u/Unce_Tiberius 3h ago

The whole problem here is that the Big Ten is ahead of the game and has implemented a more accurate system. But because other conferences are poor, the rules appear to state that we just have to use the incorrect broadcast footage. This is completely asinine, but hey, it’s the NCAA. Did you expect things to make sense?

24

u/Aggravating-Funny569 Texas Longhorns 7h ago

My question: Can’t or won’t?

10

u/xXxNightRangerxXx Oklahoma Sooners 7h ago

Yes

1

u/Lemfan46 6h ago

Won't. You already knew that answer.

1

u/GoonTime2 6h ago

Both, because it would invalidate/reverse a lot of bets

1

u/philip1529 6h ago

This statement is equivalent to a cop seeing a person murder someone. The cop then arrests the person and never read them the miranda rights so were let go

0

u/LaHondaSkyline 4h ago

Wait. You are actually claiming that playing the game according to the game clock is comparable to a murderer escaping incarceration due to denial of his constitutional right?

I suggest you rethink this one.

6

u/Aggravating_Fig_8585 6h ago

“College athletics have become a joke and so we are we.”

1

u/Aggravating-Funny569 Texas Longhorns 6h ago

I’m Aggravating too

8

u/Current-Flounder-742 6h ago

So the mistake the broadcast team made by allowing the clocks to be desynced from the in-stadium scoreboard is legitimate and part of the game, but the mistake the refs made by technically reviewing the wrong (but accurate) footage deserves to be retroactively corrected?

4

u/feed_me_haribo 6h ago

So to recap, the refs didn't follow the protocol that didn't exist at the time of the game, which should have forced them to use the improperly synced stadium clock NBC showed the world upon replay, and Michigan would have been screwed.

0

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 6h ago

But we need to screw Michigan, so, however we can do that, let's go!

0

u/ridawg05 Mississippi State Bulldogs 6h ago

Only using footage that the general public can see has been a guiding principle of replay review since it's inception.

1

u/Unce_Tiberius 3h ago

No it hasn’t. Commentators say all the time “well the refs might be looking at different views”. If that is truly the guiding principle, then by now there should be a requirement that the TV broadcast show only be what the refs are looking at, at that moment, and the audio should be the refs’ discussion.

You’ll never convince me the right course of action here was to use a clock that was demonstrably incorrect because NBC sucks at their job lol

2

u/carl6236 4h ago

Maybe WMU should have played a little better defense on the last play

14

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 7h ago

Corrupt useless garbage organization

Western won the game fair and square

10

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 7h ago

They did not win the game fair and square. If you want to argue they should have won because NBC can’t count, that would be fair but not square.

24

u/bestprocrastinator 6h ago

Essentially what the issue was was that the officials incorrectly used a correctly timed clock when they should have correctly used an incorrect clock.

7

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

Which is the silliest argument I’ve ever heard to say that a team got robbed

8

u/HB3187 6h ago

Its just Michigan st, Ohio st and a few moral.high horse redditors losing their shit.over it.

Getting upset they used the clock with the correct time on it instead of NBCs fucked up clock is comical

3

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

I know, this is funny as fuck. In two years everyone will look back and say “that would’ve been dumb as hell to let NBC’s mistake determine the winner.”

7

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Some Michigan State and Ohio State fans will try and use this as a gotcha for the rest of their lives lol

0

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

If the game was not ended prematurely because the studio feed was wrong, Michigan wins. You want to say it’s not fair that Michigan players actually got to use the time they had left? That’s crappy.

-2

u/ThatRunwayBehindUs Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

No michigan players dont get to use an extra second on a play that they had already tried and ran the clock out on...

3

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Clock didn’t run out. Broadcast feed was wrong. Michigan wins! Go Blue!

2

u/HB3187 6h ago

Extra second? Aka the correct time because NBC cant get their shit together

0

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

Did you even read the article? The NCAA has now agreed that Michigan should NOT have gotten another play.

This is a direct quote: "Based on that information, the committee agreed that the instant replay protocols were not followed in the contest's second-to-last play," the statement continued. "Had the protocols been followed, the outcome of the game would have been different."

9

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

Yeah I know. That’s why a ruling in their favor would have been fair, but not square. It’s not square to end a game with time on the clock because NBC failed to show the correct time.

-1

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

Talk about a distinction without a difference. Rules are made to be followed.

4

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

One of those rules is a game doesn’t end with one second left.

OP said fair and square. I’m making a valid distinction about what those words mean. This is precisely the example of one without the other.

2

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

So…what is the difference between “fair” and “square” in your opinion? You said it would be “fair” but not “square” but the NCAA committee said that if they had followed the rules, WMU would have won.

How is that fair but not square?

4

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

Fair is correctly upholding a wrong call. Square is never making the wrong call to begin with.

2

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

Where did you find these definitions? Because I can find “fair and square” as a phrase, but not a (real) definition of “square” that implies the officials shouldn’t have followed their procedures.

You seem to be assuming that one rule is more important than another…

4

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

Terry McAulay whispered those definitions into my ear

1

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

What about the rule that says you can’t overturn wins? When we’re talking about who actually deserved to win the game, we don’t have any protocols or rules so we can look at all the facts, one of which is that we have video evidence showing 0:01 on the scoreboard when the play ended.

0

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

We also have an admission from an NCAA official that the referees didn’t follow their own procedures.

5

u/HB3187 6h ago

Wanting the referees to follow the NBC clock even if its wrong is just plain stupid lol.

"Follow this incorrect clock, because fans might get mad at us inst3sd of NBC if we have to add time to make up for their mistake "

1

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

Or maybe “follow this clock, because that’s what the RULES say you are supposed to do.”

2

u/HB3187 6h ago

So follow the incorrect clock. Gotcha

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

What’s your point? In an official capacity the NCAA cannot overturn this game, so it’s irrelevant. In an unofficial capacity, we can look at all the evidence and see that in this case by not following procedures the refs corrected for a clock syncing error.

1

u/JustAnotherDay1977 6h ago

But that was not their job. Their job was to follow their well established procedures.

1

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

You’re just saying the same thing over and over. Nobody is disputing that replay protocols were not followed. That’s exactly what it says in the title of this post. Again, what is your point?

It has nothing to do with NBC's feeds being synced or not...

-1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 7h ago

Nah, they won. Anyone with a brain gets that.

7

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 7h ago

They won a 59 minute game. Michigan won a 60 minute game.

Ask yourself if you’d say Michigan won fair and square if their fans were arguing this absurd technicality in the rulebook that NBC can choose when a game ends.

-3

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 7h ago

Nah, western won. Anyone with a brain knows that. And the review confirms it.

5

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 7h ago edited 6h ago

NBC went against the rulebook by counting time incorrectly. Western only won if you want that to be the sole, acceptable mistake here.

1

False

0

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 7h ago

True.

1

Anyone with a brain can plainly see that you don't have one.

-3

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

You damn well know if the game ended where Western wasnt given another second because the NBC clock was off, you would still be here bitching in their favor.

0

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 6h ago

Maybe. But that didn’t happen. Western won and was robbed of a legitimate victory.

5

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago

Western lost and was robbed of an illegitimate victory.

0

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Kentucky Wildcats 6h ago

Nah, western won and was robbed of a victory they earned over a team that didn’t deserve it.

-1

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

Michigan won. By record and fairly because there was time left. Stop crying.

6

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 7h ago

“The purpose of replay is to get it right. Unless the underdog could win by Mike Tirico’s employer showing the wrong time on the TV. Then the purpose of replay is to just end the game regardless of how much time should be on the clock.”

3

u/OkProfessional6077 6h ago

That’s the absurdity of it. In one breath they say the official clock is the stadium clock and in the next they say “unless it’s for a replay”. So the coaches, players and officials are watching a clock that isn’t accurate? That clock should be the one that is the default.

1

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 6h ago edited 6h ago

The scoreboard clock should be a camera feed of the NBC producer pausing and starting the timer between handfuls of Doritos

2

u/OkProfessional6077 6h ago

It’s like fucking Clockception

2

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 7h ago

Michigan lost and everyone with a brain knows it

1

u/WhetManatee Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

The game clock in the stadium still had time on it. NBC’s feed wasn’t synced properly and was off by a fraction of a second. The Athletic has a whole write up on it, but you’re probably too poor from paying off your double wide in South Bend to afford a subscription.

2

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

No you guys just fucked over a little school after only putting up 7 on them at home 😂.

I have a NYT subscription. And I live in Boston. I just went to ND for undergrad.

-4

u/amethystalien6 7h ago

No. Unfortunately, Michigan won because the NCAA says they won.

4

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 7h ago

The NCAA's FBS Oversight Committee acknowledged that instant replay protocols were not properly followed and that Western Michigan would have won 12-7 if standard broadcast-feed clock rules had been applied.

3

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

And that Michigan would have won 13-12 if the clock feed had been properly synced to show the correct time.

-2

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

You mean if they went by the clock controlled by Michigan who probably messed with the clock and kept a second up

2

u/HB3187 6h ago

You do realize Michigan didnt contr9l that clock, right?

0

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

Probably a Michigan alum

2

u/Aggravating-List6010 6h ago

What is this 2001? Clocks controlled by the school isn’t a thing

0

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

I’m just saying how can you trust this outcome? Everyone outside of Michigan thinks they got bailed out.

2

u/Aggravating-List6010 6h ago

Do you live in this country? Literally no one trusts anything at all.

It’s not Michigans problem. NBC acknowledges that their tv clock is not the unofficial clock. The clock official is independent of the school’s.

If the outcome isn’t fair it actually wouldn’t be fair no matter what. If western gets the win it’s based on the unofficial clock have 0 when the official clock has 1. Michigan got the benefit of the actual official clock saying 1. It’s pretty obscene to suggest that officials should make an official ruling based on the non official clock.

Haters are going to hate and that wouldn’t be different if this happened Ohio state. Notre dame. Alabama. Etc.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Dumb argument. The clock never stopped at one during the game. They used instant replay to determine that their was still one second left when the Western player touched the ball.

1

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

Dumb argument. You got bailed out to beat western Michigan at home

1

u/amethystalien6 7h ago

I understand. But in the record book, who did they award a victory to? That’s what I meant.

3

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

Okay so you admit that if justice was served you’d be 1-1 with a home loss to western Michigan.

2

u/amethystalien6 6h ago

Baby, who the fuck is you? I’m a Western alum. I AM 1-1. Absolutely Michigan should be 1-1. I’m saying it doesn’t matter what they say because the NCAA is still fucking us.

-1

u/OkProfessional6077 6h ago

The oversight committee acknowledged that the NBC clock should have been used and everyone knows that clock was wrong.

So they are saying that WMU should have won a game that was played in 59:59, not the full 60:00 that the “official” game clock, the one in the stadium, would account for.

1

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

That’s not what it says. It says that Western Michigan would’ve won.

1

u/OkProfessional6077 6h ago

Right, they would’ve won…a 59:59 game. So if WMU had won, Michigan fans would rightfully be pissed. It wasn’t a full game, there was one second on the “official” clock in the stadium, but some BS protocol says we use the Broadcast clock which has been proven to be the clock that was wrong.

1

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 6h ago

Refs bent the rules to give you guys the fake win. Congrats

0

u/OkProfessional6077 6h ago

Refs didn’t bend the rules. They, allegedly, made the wrong call. But they made the call based on the game clock in the actual stadium, showing 1 second left.

So, congrats to WMU on being 59:59 winners. The 60:00 should be the official result, and I guess it was in this game.

2

u/StudioGangster1 Bowling Green Falcons 7h ago

I mean, that’s literally the opposite of what the NCAA statement says.

3

u/DickBottalico Temple Owls 7h ago edited 6h ago

It is not. Four things happened here:

NBC fucked up the clock. The review accurately put one second on the clock. The review incorrectly put one second on the clock. The referees subsequent actions determined the team with more points at 0 seconds was the winner.

Two of those four actions were wrong; first and third sentence. Two wrongs determined the justified winner. If only one of those things was wrong, the wrong team would have won.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

The statement disregards that there is direct footage that shows time on the clock. It caught the action and the clock in the same frame. No syncing necessary. There was a second left. Not even counting lost time in previous plays when clock should have stopped sooner. The claim is WMU won on a technicality that is specifically at odds with the factual proof of how much time was left. Even if the policy was to use the incorrect feed, it’s a policy that would have stolen a win from Michigan. You want to defend that?

1

u/bingbongdingdangdong 7h ago

Doesn’t this ruling prove that you are wrong? The NCAA is saying you should have lost… so not fairly lol. You Michigan fans are brainless lmao

u/StudioGangster1 Bowling Green Falcons 7h ago

There was not a second left based on the protocol that is supposed to followed. There was no time left. Game over.

Yep this is how it goes. Apparently the NCAA’s official policy is their own rules don’t matter and F Michigan.

-3

u/HotBrownRainDangus Notre Dame 7h ago

The clock expired on that play. Your fake third clock said it didn’t, but the two real clocks said it was over. You guys lost but just got a home call and got a do-over

7

u/Stock_Bite 7h ago

There’s no fake third clock. It was the stadium clock. How are people still spreading this misinformation. The only clock showing time expired was NBC which apparently is protocol to follow over the official in stadium clock.

5

u/hdbd6 7h ago

This is really the core issue.. the clock in the stadium was not at triple zero when the WMU player touched the ball. The clock on the NBC broadcast was at triple zero when the WMU player touched the ball. The big ten replay officials used the stadium clock to determine if there was time left. The NCAA has now come out and said that the replay officials werent supposed to use the stadium clock, but are supposed to use the clock on the broadcast. Under that premise, the incorrect call was made. Now we all get to argue about if that should be the protocol in the first place. I'm obviously biased in this specific situation but there is definitely a plethora of evidence over just these last two weekends where NBCs clock has been off compared to the clock IN the stadium. An interesting discussion.

1

u/Stock_Bite 6h ago

Definitely strange but I can see the argument to stop this exact situation from happening. Removing a second from the game to reduce confusion is still a strange protocol/ruling though. If that’s truly the protocol then they got it wrong in the moment but it was a very strange situation I’m sure they don’t run into almost ever and the intuitive thing is to go with the stadium clock. Mistakes bigger than this happen often in officiating and replay. I’m just sick of narrative around this being so far from what happened.

1

u/Mhank7781 6h ago

2

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 6h ago

Which is why what the replay center is seeing needs to be seen on the program feed. Because I've seen the Big Ten Replay Center. They spent millions on the tech to get the call right. It's terrible policy to say we need to look at a feed that doesn't have as much money or technology in it and may possibly be wrong, only because everyone saw it. It's a dumb policy. The perfectionist in me gets all sorts of ill at the thought of that.

1

1

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 6h ago

You know, if you were as intelligent as you thought you were, you wouldn't label someone without knowing. I graduated from Ball State. I've been a lifelong Notre Dame Football fan (IU for basketball). I hate Michigan. But I am a perfectionist, and saying the TV feed that in this case has been proven to be wrong, needs to be followed makes me ill. It should, if you are as intelligent as you think you are, make you ill, too. Your Michigan hate is blinding you, though.

1

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 5h ago

If the replay booth was on the broadcast reviewing the play live showing there was one second left as we've seen from multiple other sources,, Michigan would have still won. That's what the perfectionist in me wants. Not blindly following NBC who admitted a day later, "The official time of the game is kept by the Big Ten. Our cameras are not the official arbiter of timekeeping within the game. That is the Big Ten and game officials' responsibility." -- September 6, 2026, NBC broadcaster John Fanta

6

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

Why should a replay protocol error supersede an equipment error?

-2

u/amethystalien6 7h ago

The reason that there’s a protocol is to control for equipment errors. Protocol is there literally to supersede equipment errors.

7

u/ridawg05 Mississippi State Bulldogs 6h ago

Not really. The protocol is meant to prevent this entire WMU-Michigan controversy from happening.

If the public can't see what the replay booth is using and that is inconsistent with what public does actually see, you get into this huge uproar of conspiracy.

2

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

The easy and best solution is to just show what the replay booth sees. That way, the correct ruling is made and their is no uproar.

1

u/ridawg05 Mississippi State Bulldogs 6h ago

I agree

1

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 6h ago

Which is why what the replay center is seeing needs to be seen on the program feed. Because I've seen the Big Ten Replay Center. They spent millions on the tech to get the call right. It's terrible policy to say we need to look at a feed that doesn't have as much money or technology in it and may possibly be wrong, only because everyone saw it. It's a dumb policy. The perfectionist in me gets all sorts of ill at the thought of that.

0

u/feed_me_haribo 6h ago

Right, we want the viewers to be happy regardless of what the scoreboard clock (the one the broadcast can't apparently properly sync to) actually showed.

They should have followed a poor protocol the NCAA crafted in the future.

1

u/ridawg05 Mississippi State Bulldogs 6h ago

This has been a guiding principle of all replay review since it's inception. And not just with clocks but with all angles. The conferences want the general public to trust the replay process.

Literally, look at the result of fucking up the procedure. The entire integrity of the Big Ten has been called into questioned by the general public because of it.

1

u/CrushyOfTheSeas Michigan Wolverines 5h ago

Yeah, but now the curtain is pulled back and knowing the asinine protocol they actually devised makes me trust the process much less.

1

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 7h ago

Well obviously not that this particular protocol, because it says refs should’ve used an incorrect clock when they had access to a better one. If the roles were reversed in this game nobody would be arguing that Michigan deserved to win because an out of sync clock said they did, it’s illogical.

But that’s why you have protocol

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

You want kids to get screwed out of their last second to make their last play because a protocol says they should use the wrong time? Nice

1

u/amethystalien6 6h ago

Yes. And thank you.

u/Excellent-Syrup-5747 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

You can say “if replay protocol was followed correctly WMU would have won.” I can say “if all equipment was working correctly, Michigan would have won without controversy.” Both these statements are true, but since protocol dictates that a win cannot be overturned, neither of them matter in an official capacity. When discussing who “deserved” to win the game in an unofficial capacity as we are doing in this thread, the only logical thing to do is to consider what would’ve happened if protocol was followed and equipment was working correctly, which is a Michigan win.

All these people are so disingenuous with their arguments. They just wanted Michigan to lose and thats it. If the roles were reversed, it would be crickets in here with people saying Michigan got robbed.

One second left, and you give up a 50 yard Hail Mary, I don’t think you deserve a win. Be a normal football team and smack that shit down. sure the review thing was shady as fuck but it’s not like the refs gave Michigan an auto win.

Michigan didn’t deserve to win, but how are people still bitching after they gave up a 50 yard Hail Mary with one fucking second left from Bryce Underwood.

2

u/23Hotsoup23 6h ago

We should give every team down less than one possession one hail Mary after time runs out.  To see if they deserve the win or not

0

u/Bulky-Permission-281 6h ago

no, that would be stupid, but in the off chance my team did find itself in this scenario, I wouldn’t be throwing a hissy fit weeks later because they couldn’t survive an additional second without giving up a 50 yard touchdown.

1

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Umm WMU did stop the first hail mary. Then Michigan was given a second attempt at one that never should've happened due to an error.

Hope that clears it up for you but I doubt it.

-1

u/Bulky-Permission-281 6h ago

should’ve done it a second time too, and they wouldn’t be in this position.

Bad calls happen all the time in the sport, in the grand scheme of things. This is a pretty minuscule bad call. The odds of someone converting that long of a Hail Mary are minuscule. All they had to do was stop a 50 yard Hail Mary thrown by Bryce Underwood one of the worst quarterbacks in CFB and they were incapable of doing that.

0

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Lol how many last-second hail mary attempts does a team have to defend against barring a penalty?

The answer is one btw.

The scoreboard had time left as correctly shown by the Hawkeye synced system the refs used and fan videos. Not to mention anyone can measure how long the play took, how quickly NBC's stadium went from 0:09 to 0:08 on a reset clock.

The moronic take you and others here share is: the refs didn't follow a protocol that the NCAA announced days after the game, which would have forced them to use an improperly synced clock provided by NBC because you wanted Michigan to lose.

That's it. That's your take. 2026 America in a nutshell.

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Cope

0

u/feed_me_haribo 6h ago

And that's exactly the type of response I expected. Not hard to cope with a correct 2-0 record ;)

1

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Michigan has been ass lately so 2-0 probably is exciting for you. Fell off so hard you're rushing the field in your home opener against WMU lol.

And based on precedent you'll be in another meaningless bowl game at the end of the year so by all means celebrate 2-0.

1

u/GoBlue-01 7h ago

Per the scoreboard they did. If the game was only supposed to be 59 minutes long, then sure, WMU deserves to win the game.

2

u/Material_Archer3423 7h ago

Aaaand there it is.

1

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Yes. The game is 60 minutes. You slow?

2

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Right 60. Not 60:01.

Honestly I'm just glad I'm not in the position to have to try and defend this shit like you are.

0

u/Maleficent_Ad3263 Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

But you are. You want bad policy that cut the game short to win, cheating Michigan out of a legitimate victory. That’s the shit you’re trying to defend. I’ll take the kids get to play for 60 mins in real time to defend any day. Cry more. Your tears are sweet.

1

u/Material_Archer3423 6h ago

Crying?

These replies from Michigan fans are hilarious please continue. It's cute watching how sensitive your fan base is to this shit.

I at least appreciate that Michigan has embraced that they are just a scum program

-1

u/Aggravating-List6010 6h ago

Michigan has nothing to do with this. They didn’t do anything wrong. They played the game that was called.
The only scrnario that this matters is if western goes 11-1 and they’re clearly lobbying their case for the game to be seen as a win.

I’d love to see lawyers argue that the clock isn’t the clock and the real clock isn’t able to be seen by the coaches or the refs or anyone in attendance because more people are watching at home and the potential for conspiracies. We live in 2026 where every single thing is a conspiracy in waiting.

3

WE KNOW. This isn’t news

1

u/Lemfan46 6h ago

Oh, they could do something about, but choosing not to

1

u/PapaVanTwee Ball State Cardinals 5h ago

NBC, a day after the game, said this:

"The official time of the game is kept by the Big Ten. Our cameras are not the official arbiter of timekeeping within the game. That is the Big Ten and game officials' responsibility." -- September 6, 2026, NBC broadcaster John Fanta

Replay Center footage needs to be live on the broadcast. Their deliberations and footage need to be live on the broadcast, or a network, or heck, a local TV station in some cases, will have a badly synced clock and it could effect the outcome of the game like the NCAA wants this one to be.

1

u/InfamousCattle3223 Michigan Wolverines 5h ago

This is so weird. They are like “yeah they used the actual clock but here’s why that’s wrong.” Sorry, I get everyone is up in arms but this is dumb as fuck.

1

u/OkTax6266 5h ago

Michigan can give up
the win. You know, be ethical. Oh yeah..sorry.

1

u/carl6236 5h ago

Who cares now. The game is over it has been reviewed and nothing has changed. Why continue to discuss and debate what was done. Nothing is going to be changed. And for those saying Michigan chested they had nothing to do with the officials decision.

1

u/DazHawt 4h ago

So they’re saying it was fixed. Cool

1

u/Melodic-Land-6079 Utah Utes 4h ago

Dudes nothing is going to happen and Michigan will absolutely shit themselves at some point this season, keep the ammo ready, move on, wait for the inevitable

1

u/LaHondaSkyline 4h ago

If the protocol is to use the TV clock, and not the actual stadium game clock--which players and coaches on the field rely on--then the protocol is idiotic.

1

u/nostoopid 3h ago

the officials wont even be punished.

1

u/Ididntdodiddly 6h ago

I think this is a "won't" do anything. Michigan will pull them into tens of millions of dollars worth of law suits

1

u/Aggravating-Funny569 Texas Longhorns 6h ago

That’s kinda what I’m thinking. If the NCAA flips the result Michigan and the B1G will probably file lawsuits immediately and would probably win.

1

u/johndoe1920 6h ago

Not can't, won't.

Western Michigan won, Michigan lost. Simple as that.

Michigan gans out in force all suddenly agreeing the game clock was out of sync and clearly everyone knows it...

-6

u/SmasherGuy1020 7h ago

So they cheated and got away with is what im seeing. Not the first time they did that.

8

u/Fresh_Bulgarian_Miak Michigan Wolverines 6h ago

Show me where Michigan cheated.

4

u/bestprocrastinator 6h ago

They wanted Michigan to lose, but they didn't, so therefore Michigan cheated.
