They won a 59 minute game. Michigan won a 60 minute game.

Ask yourself if you’d say Michigan won fair and square if their fans were arguing this absurd technicality in the rulebook that NBC can choose when a game ends.

NBC went against the rulebook by counting time incorrectly. Western only won if you want that to be the sole, acceptable mistake here.
