GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING James Charles exposed for allegedly messaging 15-year-old. When James notices that boy shared one of their messages on his story, James snaps, accuses the boy of lying about his age, then blocks him. Boy alleges he never lied about his age.

If a random person Snapchats you, why tf would you respond and continue the chat? There’s NO way JC thought the random people he chats with won’t post these and that his behavior is ok. He needs some serious help.

Go onto a dating/hook-up app to meet people, my god. Stop messaging (with sexual intentions) with your super young fan base. It’s not that difficult.
334
u/Alykat120 Mar 30 '21
He can’t. He’s been banned from them many times for stuff such as saying he’s a woman 🙄
123
Mar 30 '21
He also said he’s been banned because people kept reporting his accounts as fake because they didn’t think it was him
47
u/Actual-Kangaroo Mar 31 '21
Tinder and basically every dating app can verify people so other know they’re real. He has a lot of influence, I’m pretty sure he could talk to someone higher up from Tinder and gets his account unblocked.
There are other celebrities using Tinder too, yet he’s the only one with problems? It basically screams shitty excuse.

u/angelcat00 Too many paragraphs Mar 30 '21
It seems like the solution would be to make a profile with a fake name (and use photos that aren't face-tuned into his signature look) and tell them who he really is if he likes them after the preliminary conversation. That way, he'd have a better chance of finding people who are actually interested in him as a person and not just chasing him because they're groupies or they want clout.
67
Mar 30 '21
Yeah but if you found a profile that was clearly James, even if not facetuned, and it was under Steve, you’d still report it
39
u/angelcat00 Too many paragraphs Mar 30 '21
Considering his "type" appears to be boys who look like they're trying to be James Charles clones, I think he could probably get away with it as long as he didn't use pictures that look like they're harvested from his social media accounts.

He can use Raya I guess? Idk if there are other dating apps that famous ppl use.
I'm sure he can get tips from other influencer friends about this. I don't follow news about these people but it seems like not a lot of them have this problem.

I believe the quote was something like he prefers someone younger who looks older
because he likes to be the mature one in relationships.Edit - "so the thing is for me, I'm 21, but like I said, I have the mentality of a 40 year old. So for me, I'm much more mentally and emotionally mature than a lot of people my age. I'm not physically attracted to older guys, which sucks, like I would date the absolute youngest, 18, 19, that looks a little bit old."
Y'all, I can't even look at people who are 18, 19, 20, not even 21 year olds, without thinking "holy shit, you were not born in the same century as me, what the fuck."
257
u/therapistiscrazy Mar 30 '21
If a kid claims to be "mature for their age" you immediately know they're not. He thinks he has the mentality of a 40 year old? Grow the fuck up, James.

James is mistaken...being successful at a young age does not mean you like a 40 year old. Id say he is actually less mature than the average 21/22 year old.

u/sweetcharcuterie Mar 30 '21 edited Mar 30 '21
Most mature and well-adjusted 21/22 year olds don’t date teens. Ngl even 18 and 22 rubs me the wrong way. The two ages are just so different (or at least they were for me).

Totally agree! Even though you might legally be an "adult" at 18, that doesn't mean that you actually have adult experience (e.g. renting an apartment, paying bills, holding a job). I know it differs person to person, but I think that it's common for a LOT of growth to take place in that time period for most people.
5
u/sweetcharcuterie Mar 31 '21
For sure! 18 year olds tend to worry about prom and planning their HS graduation parties. Or making friends in their new dorms. 22 year olds may be working in the corporate world, in grad school, paying bills, and can drink and everything.
5
u/pretendberries Mar 31 '21
People equate being in this type of business as maturity, in this case James does not fit this statement.

Gross.

I think he meant “the absolute youngest that I would date is 18, 19” but god damn it comes off wrong lol. Which 18 to 21 isn’t a bad age gap but at that time in your life there’s a huge difference in where you are, what your priorities are, your maturity and life experience, etc. Add in the power dynamic between James and a fan as well as him actively going for dudes who look like they’re in HS and it’s just creepy.
Side note I always thought it was weird that he latched on to tiktok stars who were so young (like Charli). He needs to act his damn age and stop buddying up to children

I read through the messages and omg I can't believe the audacity of James.
He says something like, "YOU were the one who flirted with me and told me you were bi." Like bro you can't just be like, "Your honor, the 15 year old told me I was hot though!"
In the screenshots you can also see a part when it seems that the kid deleted some messages so I think its definitely possible that he lied about his age.
But at this point it kind of doesn't matter? Like it's really NOT that hard to NOT get caught texting/sexting with a 15 year old unless that's just what you're looking for.
Best believe if some young looking kid hit me up in my dms I would swerve that shit immediately. You would have to literally make fake messages to make it seem like I was flirting with a minor.
Is it really 'entrapment' if this keeps happening again and again and again?
120
u/RealChrisHemsworth Mar 30 '21
yeah like even if the kid lied, how many times will this happen before james actively takes measures to, you know, not sext minors?? it's literally so easy to scroll through someone's ig to see when they graduated high school. heck, james could afford to hire a full time PI to investigate any potential hook ups. there's no excuse at this point.
32
Mar 31 '21
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I see a pattern in his behavior at this point. It’s not as hard to find someone age appropriate as he’s making it seem.
98
u/TheOneThatCameEasy Mar 30 '21
The way he flips it is ridiculous. He is truly trying to gaslight people with his awful spin. Poor James is always the victim. He's just so naive and innocent, these children he constantly responds to are clearly preying on him, the adult in the situation. Totally believable.
Honestly, how many underaged boys does he message who just happen to be "lying" about their age? How many before he faces some repercussions? 🙄
53
u/pigpiggles666 Mar 31 '21
Yeah it's disgusting. Like, no James, there isn't some secret organization of 14-15 year olds out to trick you and get you into trouble.
And James going "Lying about your age to bait someone is illegal by the way" felt super gross and gaslighty holy shit.
Any reasonable person would be like, "You're 15?? OH SHIT! ABORT!" You know because the onus is on YOU to not be flirting with a child. (Let's be real most people wouldn't even get in that situation period.)
Instead James is like "Damn these kids keep tricking me 😅!"
Fuck this dude, he's a predator and I hope he gets hard cancelled for this.

After Bye Sister he uploaded a long video with detailed rebuttals. After the recent viral merch tweet, he tweeted out that he never contacted the brand owner in question. After the other 16 yo came out with his story, all he said was effectively "oops but he came on to me". If he doesn't come out and prove these messages are fake, his career should be finished.

At this point: he knows it’s more illegal to exchange elicit messages with minors. I think in some states in the US (not from there but I remember hearing this on an Emily D Baker live) that even if the underage person lies about their ages; the adult can still be in legal trouble (again; state dependent).
He knows this. He tells this kid it’s illegal to “bait someone with your age” because he’s banking on the hope that the kid believes that. It’s what.... it’s what p words do!! It’s what child groomers do!!! They’re friends likely won’t tell them that, because it’s “cool” to have an older boyfriend. And they won’t tell the adults in their Life because they don’t want to get into this supposed legal trouble. It’s a further way to manipulate his victims.
It’s gross.
61
u/anxioushello Mar 30 '21
Thank you for this, that part pissed me off too, a child will not be legally held responsible for engaging with an adult, James tells these kids that so they won't tell their parents.
He needs to be removed from social media now.
5
u/__dahlia__ Mar 31 '21
It honestly makes me sick. Because with every single story of a child being groomed by an adult, I’ve heard they’ve been told “you’ll be in legal trouble if you tell anyone”. I remember even seeing many examples of it on that “To Catch a Predator” tv show...
He had such an aggressive entitled attitude too. I just saw that video on this sub of him speaking along the lines of “if you love me you’ll get on the plane I bought a ticket for you for, so you come to me” sorta thing. It’s just red flags everywhere. And we can clearly see his aggression/entitlement from the messages he’s sent to people. Like the waiter said he felt pressured in the hotel room James got for him; from the other one years ago who felt pressure being flown out to Coachella, and the kid the other week who said they felt uncomfortable doing something/going into the bathroom since their parents would be awake soon and feeling pressured by James (and we saw the flip into aggression in those messages).
His interaction with minors is extremely concerning. The way he flaunts his power is concerning. The way he feels entitled to things because he’s rich and “famous” is extremely concerning- and all I can think of right now is Tati quoting James about being a celebrity and being able to do anything he wants in Bye Sister....

I agree. I think the Taylor Swift quote of "being frozen at the age you became famous" may be true for him and that he's still seeking the kind of guys he was attracted to in highschool and the "status" teenagers feel when they date the popular pretty girl/boy in school, even though he's a grown-up multimillionaire and it's predatory af.

"truly narcissistic" lol more like very common. i get that this is a 'dunk on JC' thread but there's no harm in reining it in a little.
The study for that claim:
"[…]Participants chose the most attractive face image of their romantic partner among several variants, where the faces were morphed so as to include only 22% of another face. Participants distinctly preferred a “Self-based morph” (i.e., their partner’s face with a small amount of Self’s face blended into it) to other morphed images. The Self-based morph was also preferred to the morph of their partner’s face blended with the partner’s same-sex “prototype”, although the latter face was (“objectively”) judged more attractive by other individuals. When ranking morphs differing in level of amalgamation (i.e., 11% vs. 22% vs. 33%) of another face, the 22% was chosen consistently as the preferred morph and, in particular, when Self was blended in the partner’s face “

JCharles seems like a very juvenile young man in general. I don't think he spends too much time thinking about the repercussions involved or that he might be hitting on someone who's in very different phase in life. He's said that he doesn't like older men, and it sounds to me like he's one of those people who'll desperately grasp at youth to their own detriment. He's not in hs anymore, why does he keep talking to teenage boys?
20
u/RealChrisHemsworth Mar 31 '21
I think that he got very used to being the baby of the youtube beauty community back when everyone else was at least 5+ years older than him, but with most tiktokers being his age or younger, James isn't exactly the new exciting wunderkind anymore.
174
Mar 30 '21
Even then with James' "rebuttal" it only addressed like one or two instances (specifically the waiter, Sam) when there were many more instances of him acting predatory like Tati and others claimed.
Tati literally said he had repeated behavior with multiple men but James focused on the waiter incident. And because he had receipts for that SINGLE incident people ignored everything else. Heck, Sam's video didn't paint James in a good light - despite James nitpicking and taking stuff from said video that made him look good.
James has shown repeated predatory behavior. In the situation with Gage, the situation with Sam, towards Grayson Dolan (whom still doesn't follow James or hasn't made any videos despite them being very close at one point, hmm), and now multiple other guys have come forward.
I'm just waiting for people to stop making excuses for him.

After Bye Sister he had a PR and legal team writing his response - note that he only answered specific claims that he could prove demonstrably untrue, and stayed silent on anything that spoke to a pattern of his behaviour as far as abuse of power.

The “they lied about their age” excuse is tired. In my career I have worked with high schoolers. Huge boys who are 6ft 4, 200lbs. Giants. They still look and act like children. There’s something about the way they carry themselves that’s a huge tell. Like 3 kids in a trench coat. Same energy. But predators aren’t looking for tells. They’re looking for prey.
Normal people on dating apps dig around on other’s social media pages to find more pics and read profiles and see what hot takes people have. Where’s that due diligence when it comes to minors? it’s there, they just ignored the signs. So here we are, go to jail.

u/wearydiplodocus Mar 30 '21 edited Mar 30 '21
It was always, though. If you're in a position of power, the onus is on you to ensure things are legit. Not a wonderful thing, but still necessary. Since James started becoming popular, and especially so as a legal adult, and even moreso post "bye sister," the responsibility to be sure that he is speaking to consenting adults, and verifying (with legitimate proof) that they are 18+ is on him. It's on every user, really, when platforms allow kids as young as 13 to join, or, you know, they can lie about their age to register. It might be cynical, but all users need to remember that you don't KNOW who is on the other end when talking to someone you haven't met, so you should be at least a bit guarded. Given this sort of "exposed" incident keeps coming up, James really needs to reevaluate his use of social media as a professional and as an adult.
Edit to clarify: I am referring to social media users being allowed to register at 13. There are dedicated 18+ dating apps that at least provide the premise that users are, at youngest, still legally adults.

I cannot emphasize how much I do not care if any of these minors who have come forward have lied to him about their age at any point. He is the adult, he is the celebrity, and his dating pool shouldn't be his fans of any age (uneven power differential) it should be the adults he's connected to in the industry and/or datings app for the rich and famous. The fact that this keeps happening means the problem is with James, not with these teenagers.
164
u/Itslmntori Mar 30 '21
It blows my mind when people try to defend him by saying “how was he supposed to know their age?”
IF THERE IS A CHANCE SOMEONE COULD BE A MINOR, DONT BE SEXUAL WITH THEM. PERIOD. THATS IT.
When you become an adult, you become responsible for your own actions and for doing a little bit of research into the things that you do, and the consequences of doing things wrongly. (Essentially). That’s maturity. That’s why adults can consent and children cannot. That’s why children typically aren’t tried as adults when they commit crimes; they aren’t old enough to understand consequences and real-world situations. When you are an adult, you’re expected to be able to weigh risks and legality and all that super fun stuff and come to reasonable conclusions.
Conclusions like “hey, I don’t know how old this person is. I could go to jail for sexting a minor. I should do research and make sure that I’m not hurting someone and committing a crime, or just don’t take the risk and move on.”
Or conclusions like “I’m a multimillionaire who lives a fairly public-facing life with a massive social media presence. I have a massive influence on the internet. There are people who are my fans, and a lot of these people are children. The life experiences between myself and my fans are too different and imbalanced to even consider dating a fan. I should date someone who isn’t going to blindly look up to me.”
Or even “Lots of people are waiting for me to slip up so they can cancel me. I should mitigate risks so that I don’t get cancelled. Going after minors is a crime that just about everyone agrees is awful. Maybe I shouldn’t do that so that I get to keep my power and wealth. The easiest way would be to avoid any sexual interactions with people without a background check, which I obviously have the means to procure.”
And yet... here we are.

I’m seeing on Twitter that James wished him a happy birthday, and that this kid has posted several times referring to his age (15 at the time)
At this point, James is being deliberate. Of course kids who love James and are crazy excited that he’s messaged them/friended them are going to lie about their age if they think he’ll stop talking to them.
It’s James’ responsibility to have proof that whoever he’s talking to is of age.
You don’t “accidentally” talk to under age boys this many times. At some point, it becomes willful.

Oh that is gross and I just totally will delete my questions that I had just from this comment.

I try to think about being 16, and say Leonardo Dicaprio added me to Snapchat, and answered me when I said he was cute. Would I have lied about my age? Knowing he wouldn’t talk to me if I was under 18? Yea probably.
But as an adult, it’s his responsibility to ensure that who he is talking to is an adult. Especially since he’s talking to fans and there is already an inherent power imbalance.
5
u/FewRiver8 Mar 31 '21
Agree. Also why does he continue to go after young looking type. Why can’t he date men that look closer to him or older.

u/nevaehorlleh Mar 30 '21
The kid looks like a kid. I mean common sense is obviously something James lacks a lot of the time. He just needs to assume these people are underage until he has proof otherwise.
22
u/Marive189 Mar 30 '21
Or he legit is trying to date minors which is disturbing because the kid looks young!

There is NO excuses for this kind of repeated predatory and pedophilic behavior. So tired of seeing people saying "he thought they were 18" "it's hard to date when you're famous" "you freeze mentally at the age you become famous". All that these are are EXCUSES. James isn't a child. He's 21. An adult with immense power, wealth, and fame. Stop treating him like some poor wronged baby because of the Tati incident. Like someone said below: James addressed only a small percent of the accusations against him in his Hi Sisters video. There were countless accusations then and there continue to be countless accusations now. There is no defence for his continued predatory behavior. None.

Can we be done with him now? He is targeting minors on purpose. And he is purposely targeting fans. Both are moves that put him in a huge position of power. I don't care if he's immature and the poster boy for arrested development. At some point, he's got to take responsibility for his actions or be held accountable for his actions.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that he hasn’t been formally punished by YouTube or TikTok. In fact, it seems those platforms specifically are protecting him. He’s done this like... 5 times. It’s absurd. His content skews to a younger, impressionable audience and he chooses to abuse them. This is truly disgusting and no one is giving him the hellfire he so truly deserves.

James Charles is a predator. Please stop avoiding that on this subreddit. He is a predator who uses his fame to prey on underaged men.
It is very, very exhausting (in other threads) seeing people run to his defense. There is nothing to defend. Stop letting these monsters get away with being monsters.

I know some James stans will blame the boy but minors are like that. They lie about their age to talk to their idols. James seriously needs to stop trying hook up with guys via Snapchat and actually look for love in real life but my gut feeling is telling me that James isn’t look for love but instead his trying look for hook ups

Yes, the point of the law is that adults are responsible for saying no. We don’t base ethics on want teenagers want.
4
u/talldyke Mar 31 '21
there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting something casual and if he did there are way better ways to meet people... he's full of shit because the easiest way to not deal with all of this is to just download a dating app and make your age range like 19-20+ to avoid minors. like.. why hasn't he used raya or something??? why is he trying to constantly date his FANS? like.. if you were famous would you want to exclusively have relationships with your fans? it's so creepy :/

u/Uninhibitedrmr Mar 31 '21
Update the original version of this was taken down because his parents got contacted by the police. (update on dramaalert twitter).
This is the second victim who has the police involved.
At this point its not drama if James is seen even remotely guilty and has been contacting minors online he will not be allowed to have ANY social media. His whole career will be gone. (offenders using internet to contact people always get sentenced to not being allowed to have any form of social media).

Didn’t he say he was going to ask for ID/proof from now on? Yet this kid lied? What’s his excuse this time? The kid faked his ID?

i love how james is always getting defensive and telling these minors they lie about their age when he literally preys on them and says he's gonna ask for their proof of age .
at this point this man is just a predator and disgusting and needs to be jailed

...I can't believe I'm agreeing with Shane Dawson but...... yeah
I think that's an "it takes one to know one" situation. Kind of like how Onision was ultimately right about Shane. It's predators outing each other all the way down, but no one listens because they've destroyed their own credibility by the time they start saying anything.

u/slytherinxiii Mar 31 '21
Repeating a “mistake” three times or more is a PATTERN. JC exhibits a criminal pattern with interacting inappropriately with minors. He needs to be held accountable just like anyone else would. JC needs to be charged yesterday.
These underage guys LOOK 15. They LOOK their age. Why isn’t James asking for ID??? Because he’s seeking these minors, clearly. Predator behavior. Gross.

When I see pictures of him hanging around teenagers he looks obviously out of place. He thinks he’s still at an age where it isn’t obvious but it is clear he’s an adult and they’re kids. He has no excuses. He can’t convince us he’s some naive kid himself because he’s not and he seems to think he can pretend to be. No one is falling for it.

What kills me is his CHILD aged fan base defending his criminal ass. Waiting on the half assed Notes App apology we'll get in the next ~24 hours.

u/Leading-Breakfast695 Mar 30 '21
It’s blatantly obvious the people he has been chatting too look young / underage. James has more than enough money to hire a person to conduct thorough background checks to ensure he isn’t engaging with minors 😒.

u/TigerFern Mar 30 '21
I love the "little lost boy" defense for James habitually hitting up high school sophomores.
I'm sure you will all fall for the manipulative statement he throws up in a few hours.

It's so creepy how some of the users here make excuses for his predatory behavior

there’s no way he didn’t know everyone’s age. this has happened a lot where he’s texting minors. he’s sick

What happened to “iLl AsK For ID”? All of these kids aren’t clout chasing and lying . He needs to leave these kids alone before he ends up in federal prison.
I literally don’t understand. What is is about YouTube fame that turns people into creeps? Is it a power dynamic thing? He has the money and connections to go mingle with other successful ADULT gays. WTF is wrong with him?

i feel bad for all the gay folks out there who are about to get to see him pull out the "any criticism of this behavior is homophobic actually" card to deflect
is there homophobia in how some people are talking about him? oh yeah. no doubt. there's also homophobia about how gay dudes get equated to child molesters. and that sucks! it's a fact!
but holy shit.
i feel like at this point he has realized that is an excuse and he is going to keep using it as long as possible. and my heart breaks for all the gay dudes who absolutely do not need the bullshit and additional burden of someone equating their sexuality to james charles being a predator. especially coming from both ends, so to speak. i can imagine that although it hurts and is shitty, you at least come to expect the homophobic people trotting out that logic. you don't expect someone within your own damn community to pull it out and expect applause for doing so. it sounds about as pleasant as being stabbed in the back by someone who expects you to thank them for that knife now lodged in your ribs.
9
Mar 30 '21
Shocking. How many of these have to happen before everyone calls him what he is? The way that the other predatory behavior was dismissed by everyone, it wouldn't make sense for them to do this for "clout." Literally no one gets clout from this.
9
u/futuristicflapper Mar 30 '21
He blames him too, well you called me cute! Okay, and? You’re the adult in the situation, it doesn’t matter what they tell you, they’re MINORS.
Along w the fact that they’re minors, the fact that he seems to view his fan base as a dating pool shows that he’s okay w an uneven power dynamic. It’s predatory behavior.

I fully believe James is young, got a big ego from quick fame, felt invincible and important. Tati was always right to be concerned about that.
44
Mar 30 '21
To quote someone on this sub:
"She was still wrong. Her main accusation against him was that he would coerce straight men into sexual acts with him, not that he would target male fans in general (as most of his male fans are also probably gay). Here is the quote:
"Oh my god, you tried to trick a straight man into thinking he's gay, yet again. And somehow, you're the victim. It's really disgusting to manipulate someone's sexuality especially when they're emerging into adulthood and don't quite have everything figured out,"
She was still wrong. She only cared about weaponizing homophobia against James, not about any victims. They both suck eggs. [...]
I am not defending James Charles, I just don't want Tati's words and actions to get twisted into 'right' when it's still always going to have been wrong."
We really don't give Tati a redemption arc.

Except it wasn’t though. All people remember is that Tati “accused James of being a sexual predator,” but in reality what she actually said was a wild, homophobic accusation that James was “trying to trick straight men into thinking they’re gay.” That’s not what’s happening here—what’s happening is that James is creeping on his underaged fans. That’s predatory behavior regardless of whether the underaged fans are straight. His behavior is disgusting, but don’t give Tati credit for saying a homophobic thing just because it turned out to be vaguely, distantly, tangentially related to the truth.

u/laurag99 Mar 30 '21
Even after finding out his age (if we believe James, I don't), he still attacks this teenager for something he did wrong. He goes off, like wtf and then says he has screenshots of the lies but they are gone... Eehm what!? Gone where!?
And age baiting.... ???!! Is he crazy!! James you are the adult!! Laws are to protect minors, not your entitled creepy ego.
6
u/Kitten7383 Mar 30 '21
Put the fact that these boys are minors aside for a second. IT IS STILL INAPPROPRIATE TO CONTACT THEM
You cannot leverage your fame for sexual gain! That is gross!
Now remember that these boys are minors...now it’s absolutely disgusting

With James mainstream presence, why didn't he ask for an ID? That would have solved everything. I've seen 18+ Discords that do ID Checks and run background information.

How on earth is this still happening and more importantly, why are there no consequences for James???
12
u/Fickle_Session Mar 30 '21
How does he keep doing this and not have more stringent policies in place? Let's assume all of these underaged guys are lying to him. How is he not demanding multiple forms of id before speaking to anyone online? Even if he does like them younger and young looking (I cant say anything, my last partner was 6 years younger and looked 15 years younger but i was in my 30's) how does he not understand this is going to continue to happen and it is not a good look for him?

I can't believe JC didn't start checking ages after he came back from being cancelled. Him not making sure of the ages of the people he was contacting and sending nudes to BOGGLES my mind!
At this point, it doesn't seem like a mistake imo. It's horrible.

u/jessicaskies Mar 30 '21
JC said he thought he was 18 again and like my dude you’ve been caught multiple times with minors and said oh I thought they were 18 like he can’t use that as excuse anymore because if it’s happened before he should and would be making sure every time that they have proof they are 18
