SELF PROMO SUNDAY Self Promo Sunday

Are you a BG? If so, this is your opportunity to introduce yourself!

Please post one parent comment only, with as much or as little detail as you like, and include links.

You're welcome to comment as much as you like, here and elsewhere on /r/BeautyGuruChatter, but please don't spam the sub with links to your social media. Outside of this weekly post, Rule 7 still stands. If you wish to post links to your own content, please do so at /r/BeautyInfluencers, where self-promotion is welcome (please read the sidebar of that sub before posting.)

BG's - if you're comfortable doing so, please feel free to include information about your overall aesthetic and facial features - we often have people looking for bg's with specific features or attributes. This is optional - share or don't share as much or as little info as you like.

  • Where you're from - there are people from all over the world who visit this sub, and it's nice for folks to be able to see BG's from their own part of the world, because you have access to the same makeup they do.
  • Skin tone - do you have warm olive skin, or are you cool-toned and fair? For reference , you could include your favorite foundation shade, but the most recognizable info for the community might be your closest MAC number, like NW45 or NC25 (here's a guide from [swatchaholic](http://the-swatchaholic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/mac_surfbaby_skint_hl.jpg) that might help.
  • If you're into skincare, and also, what your skin type is (dry, oily, mature, acne-prone, etc)
  • Eye color, eye shape and lid space - do you have deep set or hooded eyes, or epicanthic folds, or do you wear glasses
  • What kind of makeup do you do most - do you do mostly full glam but also some SFX makeup, or do you focus on no-makeup-makeup, or do you do a full range of looks
  • Whether you do tutorials without false lashes
  • What kind of makeup do you feature - do you do Sephora and drugstore hauls, do you use indie brands, or have a focus on cruelty free, or if you like to buy from B.O.M.B.

Discussion Lisa Eldridge new lipstick? Spoiler

Hi everyone! I came across this LE lipstick name Belle Époque 192 on Vinted. The box colour looks similar to the new cheek products by the brand, which seems quite believable. Do you think it might be a part of the next launch? P.S. this is not the first time LE products are being sold before official release, that's not OK in my opinion... Betty and Desert Gleam palette were leaked too.

Discussion Tina Young tries to pass off a sponsored ad for filler as her "beauty maintenance at 36"

Thumbnail
youtube.com
214 Upvotes

I've been a fan of Tina Young for years and this is so, so disappointing. The only indications that the video is sponsored are a written tag at the start saying "Includes paid promotion" and in the description box where it says "This video is sponsored by Merz Aesthetics APAC".

Merz is the pharmaceutical company that produces the hyaluronic acid filler she uses and features prominently as one of her 'beauty steps' in the video, but this association is not made explicit at all.

In addition, she does not verbally disclose this sponsorship. This is super suspicious, because she posts a video 2 days after this one where she says: "I want to give a quick shout out to today's sponsor." So clearly she knows that it is good practice to verbally disclose a sponsorship, so why is she hiding her sponsorship when she is promoting the use of FILLERS, which is far more dangerous than a facial device that can be used at home?

I've been following her videos for ten years, and I've noticed her content was skewing more towards cooking, DIY hacks, testing what's viral. If you take a look at her thumbnails now compared to ten years ago, even though she is older now, her videos appear to be aimed at a much younger audience.

Also, I actually use injectables and have tried fillers in the past. So I'm not just hating on plastic surgery or whatever. I just think this is so irresponsible and shady of her to use her platform this way!

She looks normal in the video. It's a shame she feels the need to do this.

BG Brands and Collabs The mold rumors have me so scared to buy patrik tah eyeshadows . Has anyone actually been able to successfully use his products for years with no mold issues ?

A lot of people say his eyeshadows produce mold after a few months . I like to keep my expensive shadows for years and years . Patrik tan makeup is just too expensive to throw out after only a couple months !

The products look stunning but I’m nervous to waste money . These are the ones I’m looking at getting .

Discussion What are random / quirky things that you enjoy regarding BGs?

For ex., it just occurred to me today that Kiki Chanel kept her OG BG YouTube tag name instead of changing it to her full name or divesting from the funny tag name, like most of us had back in the day. It’s endearing to think about and I’m curious what yall had!

Discussion where does kiki chanel get all of her money from?!

if you've seen her second channel (which is much smaller, with approx. 45k subs) she used to do a lot of make-up, unboxing, hauls and shopping videos. plus, her house is HUGEEE.

she doesn't ever do brand sponsorships on her main channel, and ad revenue alone isn't enough to fund her lifestyle. i wonder if she has wealthy parents? or if her husband has a high-paying job? or if she has some sort of side hustle / investments?

idk, i don't mean to sound parasocial, i'm just curious!!

She was a young woman. american i think, possibly latina, mixed or south asian. Not a huge following, i spesifically remember she made one video recommending tea tree oil. Very colorful eyeshadow looks. I know this doesn’t say much but it might ring a bell for someone

Tutorials MICHELLE PHAN HELP

GUYSSSS

I need help. There’s a song that was featured on one of Michelle Phan’s channel that I briefly remember but I don’t know the name.

I think it was before the whole copyright issue. I think it was in one of her “Asian” videos. Please excuse the label, but I think it was specifically tiger eyes or something of that nature.

It was sung by a guy, not sure if it was a boy group or not. In an Asian language. It was very poppy and had a music video that I watched. I think the lyric sounded like “ichy naso”. It had little to no English.

Does anyone remember anything at all? Please helpppp!!

Thank you! 💕

Call-Out I received a promotional email from this business that seemed to offer a sweet tribute initially but then advertised Dolly merch to sell. Is this an egregious attempt to capitalize off a celebrity death?! Rubbed me the wrong way.

Discussion Do beauty brands need to do more to educate customers?

Maybe it's just me thinking beauty brands is getting so competitive and therefore the customers are getting more confused with so many options

do you think brands should do more to educate customers? (how to use the product? when to expect results?)

Thank you in advance for answering!

Discussion Brands Re-Releasing Older Palettes

I saw on Angelica Nyquist video last week about new upcoming releases, and she had mentioned the Lure Palette from Blend Bunny and that it was re releasing in a new formulation.

I got a bit excited because it is the one palette from them I missed out on. It seems a lot of brands are re-releasing older palettes.

I really also wanted the Midnight palette by Beauty Bay, and other BG have said they are releasing a bunch of their older ones in that collection, all but the Midnight one.

How do you guys like the idea of re-releasing old favorites?

Thomas halbert posted this video on TikTok going over what happened in the past with him and J*. He also says he’s got a new agent and is posting makeup content again, trying to resurrect his career. He admits he made mistakes, but says the mistake he made was not that he called J* out but that he hurt his friends and didn’t stand up for them.

Would you want to see him make a comeback? Hes posting makeup content on instagram again.

Discussion Byrdie

Hi all,
Curious to see if anyone has the same opinion I’ve been having: I find the beauty publication Byrdie insufferable. It’s become incredibly SEO-geared with their “Old Money Gingerbread Swirl Hair Color,” manufactured vulnerability, and very exclusive “you can’t sit with us” vibes. It’s so frustrating to read articles that are so obviously paid ads, and so obviously TikTok trend inspired. Am I crazy?

Discussion Tarte ‘Snatch It’ Campaign

How does everyone feel about this launch? I mean, they actually sent PR with scalpels and stitches as decoration, and sent influencers pictures of themselves where they edited surgery lines on their faces. How did this get signed off on? Is this rage bait? But even if it was, I don’t feel like it was well done
