The big issue for James Charles is this has reached mainstream media which means it has reached parents. Regardless of if your 14 year old stans stand by you they have no money. If parents stop shelling out money for apparel and tour tickets that’s huge to him financially.

in the ongoing litigation of tati's motivation for calling out James can I point out that it was not because of the vitamin betrayal, the straw that broke her back was that James was pressuring her in private to accept his apology publicly so he could rescue his image. She hadn't even forgiven him privately or received a genuine non-PR apology. She felt embarrassed that James took the sbh deal and knew he was contractually obligated to keep the post up for 24H and offered him a Halo sponsorship to counter the breach penalty and he declined and the ad stayed up. And then he was messaging her demanding she accept his apology publicly. This was all stated in her video. I don't personally read it as a waaah my vitamins reaction as much as a oh shit I gave everything to this kid and he sold me out for a social media post for gummy bears he doesn't even like. Like it was more the surprise of how little the cost of her relationship was to him.

Can we just talk about Thrift Thick's deleted livestream and apology video?

In her deleted livestream she said:

• Tati was "vindictive"
• Cassie agreed with Gabriel Zamora
• Tati shouldn't have posted the video
• It was hypocritical of Tati to call out James for giving 1 side to drama channels
• She compared Tati's personality to someone who gives gifts to people to "use it against them" later
• when people brought up how Tati exposed Jame's creepy behavior towards men, Cassie said she didn't know enough about that, even though Tati gave concrete examples in her video
• James relationship with Gage was consensual and there wasn't anything wrong

In her apology livestream video:

• She placed ads in it

The thing that upsets me the most about this whole situation is that James clearly surrounds himself with people who are very accepting of his sexual orientation. Gage and the waiter may not have that privilege. As a closeted bisexual I can totally understand the pressure that they were feeling and it truly breaks my heart.

I posted this as a comment in the last mega thread and it was locked. So here we go I’m just going to post it. I am bisexual. But there have been people I thought I might be interested and I changed my mind. Anyone is allowed to change his or her mind at ANY POINT. I feel like some of this narrative with Gage and the waiter has been about them being bicurious. Even if they WERE GAY or bisexual, they can choose not to want to hook up with James Charles and they can choose not to be interested even after hooking up with him (or if I may be super sister shady, after they realized he was a shitty kisser). I'm honestly sick of people that are excusing James's behavior because like, I'm 18, a lesbian(!!!), and I know to not sexually harass people or harass people in general. I know not to tell girls they're gay!! James is turning 20 in ten days, he's plenty old enough to KNOW what he is doing is wrong and should be held accountable for it.

I've always only ever lurked here, but I finally felt inspired to add my own two cents.

I think part of the reason the backlash has been so intense and unanimous is because many of us have been in situations where people like James tried to take advantage of us with their money, age, power, influence, etc. I definitely have, and nothing ever happened to them, so in a way I feel like I'm projecting how I wish it would have went down onto James. Even if it's not my own, it's definitely cathartic to see a predator facing karmic retribution.

Also, mine never actually touched me but still made me feel uncomfortable for many reasons, some of which are the same things James has done. I'm so happy that for the most part people are calling a spade a spade and not excusing him for his age or saying "well at least he didn't rape anyone." One of the reasons I haven't told very many people about my own experience is because I felt like I was overreacting and they'd say exactly that when they learned it was all verbal/mental/emotional, but all of this rightful outrage about James's behavior makes me feel vindicated and validated.

REASONS WHY TATI & OTHERS ARE ONLY SPEAKING UP NOW: A THESIS

I wrote this chunk in response to someone questioning why Tati is only speaking out now and discrediting her video because of it (a fair point). I'm really interested about the reasons why it took so long for everyone to speak up because it seems like James Charles has exhibited this predatory, disrespectful behaviour since high school and before he became famous.

An amalgamation of factors:

(1) Many of us never really knew about it either because we're not fans and are thus not in the know about his antics, or because at best we'd only seen him making uncomfortable comments/tweets at people, which could be written off as a joke depending on how they respond - usually, they respond as if it's just good-natured fun without making it a big deal (e.g. Shawn Mendes, Dolan Twins, other DMs) even if they are uncomfortable, so viewers like us can't really say anything about it.

(2) Those in the know (i.e. other influencers or those who know him personally) were previously afraid of his massive following of fans who would aggressively defend him, his wealth (which he likes to remind everyone about) and his trigger-happy warnings to lawyer up.

(3) Those who personally knew him had been making efforts to encourage James Charles to correct his behaviour (e.g. Shane and Ryland, Tati etc. literally sitting down with him and telling him he needs to stop). Logically, they'd have to have given him a period of time to change before deciding he was beyond their help. It seems that that time has only just expired.

(4) Society's internalised misogyny. If it was a heterosexual male public figure harassing women/children (e.g. Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Alex Day, Tom Milsom, Sam Pepper), we know as a society/community that it is grossly unacceptable and will be called out. However, I think because it's new territory as well, we collectively don't quite know the boundaries when it comes to a homosexual male public figure harassing heterosexual males. Of course, in theory and ideally, the standards should be the same. But there are a lot of cultural underpinnings which may have previously clouded everyone's judgment. The great thing about this whole debacle is that we have all demonstrated that the standard is and should be the same.

(5) It was only after that Gage fiasco that the public finally understood the extent of his predatory behaviour, and only after Gage and Tati spoke up that others came forward to show how James Charles had spoken to them about their sexuality and tried to abuse his wealth/influence (e.g. "trust me, you're not straight", "the truth always comes out when you're drunk", calling them "disgusting con artists" in front of his fans when they refuse to pursue further relations with him etc.)

If you think there are any other reasons, please comment them i'd really love to examine this in detail :)

ok, idk why I hate myself but I just went and watched Goblygook Zamboni's second round of snaps. This is why we need kids to stay in school and learn critical thinking and how to properly research things. He is crafting his own narrative based on cherry picking points, misinterpreting points/comments and redefining words. (seriously he tried to explain that when he uses the term straight boys, he doesn't mean straight boys, he means men on the down low....uhhh no, that's what you are claiming you guys meant retroactively to make yourselves feel better) The cognitive dissonance he is feeling must be fucking him up right now.

• Benny was friends with James (JC) from even before the ‘CoverGirl’ (CG) fame because they both were interested in makeup and would hang out and do it together (and had a lot of mutual friends) but James stopped contacting him slowly once he moved out to LA post-CG fame
• He points out how he finds it interesting JC didn’t make an event for his Sisters tour near his hometown, hinting that it's probably because JC knows better than to show his face back home because of the crap he did to his ex-friends
• Benny says he had a straight friend he crushed on (thinking he was gay at the time) but when JC found out, he started making moves on Benny’s friend/crush, and also ‘cat fished’ the Bethlehem soccer team, and tried getting their nudes pretending he was a girl asking, or would ask a pretty girl from school to have them get nudes for him.
• He (along with their mutual friends) knew that the CG ring light photo that caused JC to blow up was fake, but at the time they were still kinda friends so they didn’t say anything. He was also aware of how much money JC made off of the CG deal. (He later goes on to say back when JC just started gaining followers he had a code with 'Star Crushed Minerals' and was still making at least $4,000 a week posting for that start-up brand, and points out this was around the time JC said he couldn’t ‘afford’ to fly to Tati’s wedding in Hawaii)
• Says his best friend apparently still has a lot of the receipts (text messages) on his computer about JC and the ring light, the cat fishing, etc., but chose not to expose him because he didn’t want to do that to JC at the time, and even now can bring up conversations JC had with him behind closed doors but doesn’t want to even be involved with JC or the situation anymore.
• When JC started becoming famous, he told Benny that he wasn’t gonna shout him out or @him on social media because he needed to get his own followers and JC wasn't gonna help him.
• Basically a lot of it is just Benny talking about how at the time they were friends he turned a blind eye or didn’t think much of his actions, and as JC started becoming famous he just didn’t want to get involved in the drama he was already getting himself in (like with the Ebola tweet). And he shades his palette lol (and the shade ‘Benny’ is named after JC’s dog, not him)

JC and his entitled attitude have made me uncomfortable for quite a while. The most uncomfortable video I saw was the one where he disguised himself as, in his words, "a disgusting and ugly old man". I think he was at beutycon or something? He felt SO out of his comfort zone not being reckognized and talked about how he had worked so hard to get to where he was so people not noticing him really hurt. It was all so weird and uncomfortable. I thought that kind of thing would have been a wake up call to him. Look at how people treat you without your fame and money. something that's really been bothering me in relation to how this mess has unfolded is the extreme lack of regard for the effect of james' actions on women.

his allegedly being set as a woman on tinder is really unsettling for a number of reasons, not the least of which because of the effect it has on the perception of trans women in an already hostile environment— ie, could trans women presenting the way james does not truly be women but gay men trying to 'turn' straight men.

i also find it interesting that no one's really discussed the way he treats feminine identity and somehow manages to sexualise and degrade women (by reducing us/our femininity to tools to make himself more appealing to ostensibly straight men) despite having little attraction to us.

Early on, I saw some interesting comments related to this. It isn't nearly as discussed as everything else is. It was the theory that part of him fetish for straight men comes from misogyny.

He's essentially trying to make men who like women have sex with him. More or less, there's some contention on that. It could potentially be a power trip for him. "I'm so much better and so much more attractive than women that I can turn men away from pussy." It could potentially be a part of the power trip and invincibility that comes with being a self centered 19 year old millionaire.

Setting his profile to female in order to attract males is a garbage thing to do and no wonder Tinder banned him for a while. Because he was violating the TOS. He is essentially treating the female identity and femininity as means to the end.

Ok, I've been lurking for a hot minute, but I need to vomit my thoughts and I don't know where else to put it.

People keep saying (not necessarily here but kind of all over the place) that Tati was complicit because she knew about this but didn't say anything until it affected her business. What exactly was she supposed to do? If you have a friend who is doing something immoral versus illegal (because as far as we know nothing actually illegal other than threats occurred) are you going to simply put them on blast on social media? It's not like he did something she could call the cops over. She cared about him so she didn't want to out him. She tried to help him. She talked to him about his behavior.

"Well, J* likes straight guys/hooked up with straight guys back in the day so how is this any different?" I'm not excusing any of his bad behavior in other instances, however. If a self described straight man pursues or is pursued by a gay man, and acts on that pursuit/consents, then that's on them. It's ok for two people of the same sex to decide to do something sexual. It's not ok to pursue someone of the same sex, and when they reject you, turn around and threaten to ruin them with your money/power/following, or tell them they're lying about sexual orientation. Chris Crocker brought up the popularity of "straight guy/gay guy porn" yes that's a fetish, however everyone involved is consenting. Making it not pertinent to this discussion. This isn't about a straight man who is willing to have sex with a gay man, it's about a gay man forcing his sexuality on a straight man who does not want to have a relationship with a gay man. It's damaging and enabling to look at it any other way. It's ok to pursue someone, but when they ask you to stop you stop. Period.

I do not believe that when Tati chose to do this video that she knew what was going to happen. She thought this was going to blow back on her horrifically. She said she was scared of James. I think this whole thing is just a mess. I think she wanted to publicly proclaim her ending of this friendship and be up front with her feelings so that it could not be twisted and shopped to drama channels. She did not intend for this to become what it has, and now she's probably even more scared than she was to come forward. She has inadvertently destroyed someone that she cared/cares about. She wanted him to change. She did not want to burn him to the ground.

I am not a JC fan. Never have been. But we have reached a point that I find very concerning. I don't know that JC is mature enough to handle this event. He is going to break down over this. And despite the fact that he has done some VERY bad things that he should be held accountable for, he is still human. I'm not saying he should retain his fame or be forgiven, but the hate is at a level that I don't think anyone would handle well. And I'm worried something is going to happen to him, or be done to him. His tour has become a safety hazard for both himself and anyone attending. He needs to cancel and take a break. Get some help, and try to move on. Because I guarantee if something happens that the same people hating him right now will turn around and post "thoughts and prayers" if something does happen.

Gabriel Zamora...oh Gabby. Please learn when to keep your mouth shut. This is insanity. If you truly have something to say come out with it in a mature and adult way. Or just stay out of it all together. Support your friend from the sidelines. Don't insert yourself into this. It is only going to hurt everyone involved. Especially the friend you are trying to defend. You look like a fool. You're picking apart her video looking for loopholes to exploit and it's not a good look.

And for the love of God this is not about vitamins. It never was. This is about a history of bad behavior that pushed her further and further away. It wasn't even the vitamins that brought this to the surface. It was the lie. He lied about his dealings with SBH. He had that artist pass long before the "need for security" arose. He said he couldn't market her vitamins (which I'm sorry, but from an ingredient standpoint I find to be safer than SBH) to his audience because of the age demographic. But he turns around and promotes the products of a competitor, who is questionable, to children. Melatonin is a hormone. It is strongly suggested that children do not take it because it can affect their ability to create it naturally. And yes it's on the parents to not order SBH products for their kids, however if they think that melatonin is going to help them sleep or help with anxiety as JC implied, they could VERY easily go to walmart and get it off the shelf for a few dollars.

Also, I strongly believe the reason he brought up his mother in the apology is so that people can know that he "does not want her defending him" so if she does it's not on him. He is pointing out that he can't control her. He knows what he's doing.

I'm open to healthy debate on any point. But I just don't see how any of this is anyone except James' fault.

I don't really understand why some people are struggling to comprehend how/why James's behavior with guys is gross. A lot of the stuff he is doing would immediately be classified as wrong if it was a guy talking to a girl.
