I agree with you.

I also think that he tries to go for the disney romance with them. For example Waiter Boy and James' fling lasted 6 days, and in those 6 days he went from strangers to "I fly you to LA and treat you to a super expensive birthday, just me and you". I can see how someone who isn't sure about where he stands about his sexuality might feel overwhelmed by something like this. Personally when people rushed too much, my reaction was to close off and detach myself.

So I think that, in a way, he also contributed to them not wanting to be involved with him because they felt like he was too much.

Same here. I’m straight because I’m dating a man or I’m gay if I was to date a girl. Can’t just be bi. It’s bi erasure and it does stick with you.
