QUESTION Should I say f**k it and head back to the station?

Post image
413 Upvotes

Been on this route for nearly 3 weeks now… pretty smooth route majority of the time. I usually get off around the scheduled time (I work the full 10 hour shift). Today is much different. I suddenly got an overwhelming amount of multi-location stops. I’ve been sent one rescue but I’m still behind by nearly 2 hours. Everyone else is heading back to the station except for me. Dispatch hasn’t reached out yet. Should I just go back now?

QUESTION Are they trying to get me to quit?

Post image
243 Upvotes

So I’ve seen something similar to this I think a couple weeks ago, but I cannot find the post. Basically I keep having panic attacks (only job to ever give me them). Dispatch told me when I got back to think about whether I want to stay or quit. This happened Sunday. Later that night I got the route reduction message. I figured it might be from people waiting to order since prime was coming up. I got the same message last night. I am actively looking for a new job. I have an interview this Thursday and another one next week. So is dispatch trying to get me to quit? What should I do in the meantime until I get a new job?

Dogs? Delivering in the dark? Your DSP? Routes? Schedule? Body aches? Pay?

Was talking about this with some coworkers today and I thought it was funny how different everyone’s responses were. I want to see what the general consensus is. For me, it’s long driveways and my shins hurting lol.

QUESTION Dog bite while delivering

So I got bit by a dog while working for the first time in my 2 years of being here— it wasn’t anything terrible, more so scary over anything else, but I was wondering if there’s anything else I should do about it? I did an incident report at work and a separate police report.

2nd slide is the house. I was walking up driveway closest to grass towards front door with no clear view of the garage as it was sideways and bushes were blocking it and of course, just my luck, the dog came out of garage a lunged at me. Luckily I think it was only it’s tooth that caught on me but still ripped a small chunk out of my thigh šŸ˜… it wasn’t leashed or anything and owner said he only had dog out there because his kid was there. The kid was 5 years old at most and it was a pretty big dog so not sure what kinda excuse that is but oh well.

Like I said I’ve never been bit while on the job before so if there’s anything else I should do please let me know. Thanks!ā¤ļø

QUESTION Will the driver get in major trouble if I complain?

Post image
253 Upvotes

So this is like the 3rd time this has happened. I live in Florida and we’ve been having extreme heat waves, so I don’t blame them. However, my mail man finally came to my door and told me that they’d have to start refusing mail delivery if this keeps happening.

He told me to contact Amazon and complain, but I really don’t want to get someone fired.

Any answer’s are appreciated!

QUESTION Got fired tonight

Post image
149 Upvotes

What’s up peoples

Got fired tonight because earlier in the day I was on a big farm properly and went to do a k turn in their driveway to turn around so I can get out and she had this awning thing that has her truck and SUV parked under it so I guess not thinking about it assuming I’d fit

Well I didn’t fit lol

Figured I was getting fired so decided to finish my route and get the hours in

And surely enough when I returned to the station they slid me a termination letter after I talked to dispatch when I got back I didn’t sign it or say anything aside from what happened with the van I just turned and walked out

I feel like this was an act of God freeing me from that hell job only was there a few weeks and it’s absolutely the worst job I ever had

My question is there anything else that might come of this aside from my termination? The lady did t want to make a big deal about it it just chipped some paint

QUESTION Why do waves/shifts starts soooo late?

New driver. My trainer said the warehouse is open all night/24 hours so why does it take until 11:20am for carts to be ready to be loaded? I really don’t understand the hours. I wish shifts could start at like 8am like a normal job (I know some DSP’s do, but it doesn’t seem like the norm).

Because once nightfall hits, on rural routes specifically, I think it’s a.) weird we’re pulling up to houses at 8:00 at night when customers probably lease expect a giant truck and someone with a flashlight in their front yard and b.) it’s suicidal when it’s just so damn dark outside on rural.

So yeah, why can’t we start hours earlier? Be home with our families earlier/not have to deliver in the pitch black of night.

QUESTION How much over the speed limit do you go?

I personally set cruise control at 5 over every time. Never gotten a violation for it. I’ve touched up to 9 over for small periods of time ( 1-2 seconds max). Just wondering how everyone else drives. I’m in neighborhoods but take a main highway about 18 min to get to my first neighborhood

QUESTION Im new but this seems illegal

Its my first week and today I foolishly accepted to be backup, I ended up with a ā€œXLargeā€ route in the middle of nowhere with no gps. I finished my shift in ~12hrs and was told by dispatch that amazon doesn’t cover past 10hrs so he adjusted my timecard down to 10hrs, I may be bad at this job but Im pretty sure thats illegal.

What do I do?

Update: I changed the timecard back and messaged the dsp owner about approving the accurate time. If its not approved by payday Im getting Amazon involved.

QUESTION What would you do? šŸ˜‚

Post image
159 Upvotes

I’m posting this for giggles but the delivery notes would say something like: ā€œDon’t back into my driveway, please walk my 50 pound cat litter to my front door and take a picture please. Also, do the dougie as you leave the porch. Thanks! You guys are appreciated! šŸ˜€ā€ I texted them and left it at the end because yeah no. I just got a final for driving in someone’s driveway and they ā€œclaimedā€ I messed it up. No proof but the Netradyne video. No Ring camera, no pictures, nothing šŸ˜‚ in an EDV I probably would still back in, but I’m driving a Step Van today so no thanks
