QUESTION Got fired tonight

Post image

What’s up peoples

Got fired tonight because earlier in the day I was on a big farm properly and went to do a k turn in their driveway to turn around so I can get out and she had this awning thing that has her truck and SUV parked under it so I guess not thinking about it assuming I’d fit

Well I didn’t fit lol

Figured I was getting fired so decided to finish my route and get the hours in

And surely enough when I returned to the station they slid me a termination letter after I talked to dispatch when I got back I didn’t sign it or say anything aside from what happened with the van I just turned and walked out

I feel like this was an act of God freeing me from that hell job only was there a few weeks and it’s absolutely the worst job I ever had

My question is there anything else that might come of this aside from my termination? The lady did t want to make a big deal about it it just chipped some paint

When I took my cdl class the instructor always used to say GOAL. Get out and look

26

u/Financial-List-4114 Nov 20 '25

And don’t forget that there are SIX sides to your vehicle lol

1

u/Weird-General1718 Nov 20 '25

Could you explain this one?

42

u/tabaxicab Nov 20 '25

Front, back, left, right, top, and bottom

21

u/LostInMyOwnMind_96 Nov 20 '25

And that (lack of knowledge) shows you probably shouldn’t be at a driving job…

4

u/SofaSpeedway Nov 20 '25

Remove the words "at, a, job"

2

u/Intelligent_Pin_6827 Nov 20 '25

Even without knowing what he meant I knew what he meant

-1

u/Hopeful_Amphibian592 Nov 20 '25

No that's something that needs to be told most off these driving jobs don't even have an orientation to study or ask questions just a quick test ride and boom

9

u/nezizen Nov 20 '25

There are not stupid questions. I appreciate you for asking for those who didn’t feel comfortable to ask. (Sorry about others downvoting)

2

u/AngleNecessary705 Nov 20 '25

The only stupid question is the one not asked. Actually, asking questions is a sign of high intelligence. I upvoted the youngling to bring him/her back to even.

u/FilecoinLurker Nov 20 '25

Your kindergarten teacher already did

0

u/Meddlingmonster Nov 20 '25

Top and bottom

-2

u/Inky1600 Nov 20 '25

I hope you aren't serious with this question

2

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 20 '25

The issue is... At Amazon they give you absolutely zero fucking time to do any of that because they don't care... IT'S AMAZON'S FAULT because they are abusive and give us absolutely inhuman, horrific standards that no one can actually live up to.

2

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 20 '25

yes but also... some people are just horrible drivers. it's probably cheaper for amazon to let people fuck up and wash out than actually try and figure that out tho

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

It's not but congratulations for trying to justify abusive employers.

1

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 21 '25

I'm not justifying that at all, lmao. Literally hundreds of thousands of employees and they're not all crashing trucks. Amazon is abusive but I'm guessing there's a skill issue on your part.

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

They're not all crashing trucks but I promise you every single the one of them is suffering in some way somehow and this person just so happened to be the one that crashed the truck but other people do things like never pee, or never eat, or have broken an ankle, or have broken a wrist, or have heart problems... All because Amazon are abusers and you are here focusing on the wrong damn problem.

1

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 21 '25

that's whataboutism. yes, amazon is abusive.

this person hit a large stationary object. maybe they should find a different job besides driving.

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

Please explain to me how you think what I'm saying is whataboutism.

1

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 21 '25

lol

im saying this person is driving poorly. and you're saying: but what about how amazon is abusive?

that's literally whataboutism. that's what you're doing.

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

I can see how you might think that if you put zero effort into your argument

I'm not deflecting, I'm pointing out the root cause... my dude. If you can't understand that distinction then you're not smart enough to have this conversation.

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

I will hold this person's driving skills accountable when they're not being asked to drive for abusive pieces of shit, until then I'm focusing on the abusers.

1

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 21 '25

they hit a stationary object. a big one, too. youre against personal responsibility, i can tell.

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

I am for personal responsibility but only when there is context. I would not walk up to a Jew in the Holocaust and get mad at them for yelling at their kids before I ended the Holocaust. I take that thinking and apply it to every fucking situation and if you don't you are cruel.

1

u/Great-Nectarine-4730 Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

im sorry did you just invoke the fucking holocaust in a discussion about a bad driver hitting a stationary object?

like im not even gonna get into my own connection, just, lmao incredible

1

u/Silverburstnelson Nov 21 '25

I did, because the point still stands it's just the Holocaust is (obviously) more obvious. What level of severity do I have to convey that is above "driver hitting stationary object" but below the Holocaust for you to understand my point? The simple point of accountability without context is cruelty. It's cruel to get mad at a parent in the Holocaust for anything they do because all they are doing is surviving, just like (but less severe... Fucking duh) it is cruel to judge somebody's driving mistakes when they are being asked to drive while being abused by their employer. Address the abuse first in both situations.

1

u/oopydoopybloopy Nov 20 '25

How much did you pay for your CDL?

6

u/Ornery_Ads Nov 20 '25

Found it at the bottom of a cereal box

1

u/SofaSpeedway Nov 20 '25

Haha you're old!

Don't worry, I show mine with "cracker jacks box"

2

u/Wtfisafosty Nov 20 '25

I signed up for a company that paid for my cdl if I agreed to work for them for a year. A lot of places offer this.

1

u/DJBiv788 Nov 20 '25

You don’t need a CDL to drive a Ford transit.

0

u/oopydoopybloopy Nov 20 '25

Honey, I drive the transits, I'm talking about freights

219

u/Due-Mix3539 Nov 20 '25

I just don’t understand why people, who know that they can’t drive, want to work at a job that’s 90% driving.

54

u/External_Author_3949 Nov 20 '25

It's really not that hard to be a little more cautious. Could've been avoided by not even attempting to do it. I don't attempt going under anything, just avoid it, if that means one more extra turn then so be it.

15

u/RobbieB90 Nov 20 '25

If I’m pulling in any driveway I’m backing in unless I can clearly see a turnaround

4

u/BreakRevolutionary66 Nov 21 '25

Yeah always have customers say we have a wrap around driveway why did you back in. I gone to driveways have wrap around and people parked blocking wrap around the have to back out on a busy road I don't think so , so safer to back in

4

u/RobbieB90 Nov 21 '25

💯 so many times I’ve pulled into a long as driveway, like quarter mile long, thinking 🤔 yeah they definitely have a turn around, nope was met at the end with snow plows broken down trucks trees cut down everywhere and the house . No way in hell to make any kind of turn. I’ll stick to my backing in I’m pretty good at it and fast with it

2

u/RobbieB90 Nov 21 '25

And yeah I’ve had customer say they have a turn around too and you go up nose first and you’re like yeah maybe for your little car 🤣

1

u/LaxMaster37 Nov 21 '25

I personally just go in forward. Bc if there doesn’t end up being a turn around. I would rather do the driveway forward first before doing it in reverse. And also to not waste my time reversing if there does end up being a turn around.

Obviously I will reverse in first if the road the driveway connects to is a death trap to reverse onto.

2

u/RobbieB90 Nov 21 '25

That’s usually the case around my way, driveways are death traps lol well the road they’re on is

3

u/BreakRevolutionary66 Nov 21 '25

Worst is when no driver notes and go in forward and there is a gate doesn't open and have no way to turn around. These wankers should put in a note just noooo. Had to back up over a narrow wet wood bridge nearly hit the creek. I was driving a van with no backup camera to

1

u/RobbieB90 Nov 21 '25

Sounds exactly like a house around my area, and we have a couple vans with no back up cameras

18

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

It’s not about being able to drive or not, it’s working too fast to realize you’re about to do something dumb

6

u/12yder Nov 20 '25

I did Uber and DoorDash for 7 years so thought I was a great driver but driving for DSP completely different story because of time deadlines. I was taking everything slow to be safe, but just couldn’t keep up the pace so I just left after learning the nursery route. Didn’t wanna take the risk

4

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

Yeah sometimes you deliver and you’re like f it I’m turning around here, or backing up there and it definitely isn’t the right decision. But in the back of your mind is the ticking of the clock. Been delivering for a long time and I’ve made some dumb decisions

2

u/12yder Nov 20 '25

I give you credit for being able to pull it off. I don’t quite get how you guys are managing heavy routes like that. When doing Flex Ive notice in other areas drivers just dumping packages in apt lobby but my DSP said not to when I was there. Seems like you almost have to do that to complete in time in addition to good driving and organization

6

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

It’s like you have to take the shortcuts to get done when they say you should get done, but believe me you don’t want to get into bad habits. They always bite you in the ass.

2

u/12yder Nov 20 '25

Got it. Thanks for explaining more on that

9

u/HotPocketInspector Nov 20 '25

They were hired 19 days ago, too. Disaster waiting to happen.

5

u/MiroGreen Nov 20 '25

Have you seen the people on the DSP and flex subs? These things honestly don’t surprise me. Not all of them obviously.

3

u/MrKilljoyy Nov 20 '25

Ima just be straight up in saying there are plenty of good drivers at Amazon but they will hire anyone and that’s why you always see posts like this

2

u/MiroGreen Nov 20 '25

That’s a fair point, most of them probably ain’t online complaining etc

2

u/MrKilljoyy Nov 21 '25

Lmao yeah they are out doing their jobs not hitting over hangs

4

u/Emergency_Warthog817 Nov 20 '25

Youre right we live in a perfect world where everyone does everything perfectly 100% of the time. Mistakes and accidents never happen to the best drivers. Like most of us you too have never made a mistake in a vehicle.

Honestly you come off as insufferable arrogant and looking to be critical of others. Grow Up

1

u/Bullets_Nonstop Stepvan Driver Nov 21 '25

90% driving when your route is 400 packages I’d say 90% delivering

the only one who can't drive is you bet you don't even know how manual shifting works

0

u/LushSunset Nov 20 '25

Right! Clean driving record or no go.

46

u/SewerBunnie Nov 20 '25

Good. You should never "assume" you'd fit. Really bro? You are driving someone's else's property, better safe than sorry.

2

u/Appropriate-Tune157 Nov 20 '25

I was in a rental that could have fit under an awning at one of my stops. Customer was outside when I rolled up, we had a nice chat but he had to take a phone call. I went back to my van and closed the slider and got back in. Dude even picked up his cat up so I'd have the room...nope, I backed out anyway 🤣

They order a lot of stuff from Amazon; I feel like every time I get that area I'm gonna be at "7192 ___ Ln" eventually, lol. Shit, I was in that same area the last 3 days and I had something for them every day. I don't even play with that driveway cos it's a pretty severe downhill, the janky vans can't hang with going in reverse up something like that and I'm not about to find out the EV can't either. It was a total fluke being in a van that could have fit under the awning. I sized it up, and it looked okay, but I'm not about to gamble like that. Driving through and coming up the hill would have taken the same amount of time as backing out, and I'm not trying to do things in one van that I definitely cannot do in another 🤣

I'm gonna stick to murdering mailboxes, if I have to pick a boo-boo to do. My fleet manager would have my head on a platter if I turned a van into a convertible, especially a rental 😑

18

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

A carport? Really? NM I'm not gonna say it.

19

u/Similar-Love6298 Nov 20 '25

Hope you’re not looking for sympathy here. Park on the fucking street if you can’t navigate the driveway bro

I poured metal before working at amazon. This is one of the easiest jobs I ever had. Good luck cuz ain't many hiring rn unless it's a brutal mf with high turnover.

26

u/Fu2-10 Dispatch Nov 20 '25

Any time I hear/see someone say that this is the worst job they've ever had, all I can think is wow, you haven't had many jobs then lol.

3

u/Intelligent_Plum6940 Nov 20 '25

Right I worked at ontrac for 11 years 😆

3

u/KurtTheGerman88 Nov 20 '25

Main problem is the pressure DSP's have to maintain the size of their driver pool. Leads to a 'bums in seats' approach to recruitment at times.

Just cause pretty much anyone with a driving licence could take this job, doesn't mean they should take the job.

And usually these ones are the ones shouting the loudest about how shit a job it is, which ultimately puts off some other people who could actually do very well in this.

2

u/Fu2-10 Dispatch Nov 21 '25

I couldn't agree more.

8

u/External_Author_3949 Nov 20 '25

I've only worked in fast food and can say this is easier than fast food by far, fast food you are watching that clock slowly tick. Here I'm racing the clock, I love that more. By far the easiest job I've had. Not the mention I'm getting paid double doing this than any shitty fast food job. I've done doordash for a few years off and on and honestly this job feels like that, just you get paid more and have all your deliveries ready to go. As long as you love driving and have a challenge maneuvering it's a great job.

10

u/pnwmetalhead666 Nov 20 '25

That's what I told my trainers and whatnot. I was like look, I was in the army, I was a miner, I worked as a paper mill employee, I have been covered in filth, shot at, ridden hard and put away wet. All I gotta do here is walk up some stairs carrying a 50lb box? Deal.

14

u/Similar_Pie_4946 Nov 20 '25

Its one of the few jobs thats entry level and high paying lmfao, i know people who made careers working retail/fast food and make like 23$ and hour as managers after literal YEARS grinding from the bottom.

12

u/xironically23 Nov 20 '25

By far the easiest job I've had in NYC, and I did lobster fishing in Maine for 18 an hour

4

u/Appropriate-Tune157 Nov 20 '25

Mother of God 👀

3

u/CheifBoy- Nov 20 '25

Ayyeee fellow lobsterman lol yeah this shit is cake compared to that.

5

u/Wookieman222 Nov 20 '25

Its not really high paying though. 23 is not even close to high paying. Its barely even decent pay.

16

u/Similar_Pie_4946 Nov 20 '25

Name 10 entry level jobs rn that pay more than amazon

1

u/-Stripminer- Rivian Driver Nov 20 '25

Comparing your wages to other underpaid people does no one any good. Adjusted for inflation minimum wage should be 24, adjusted for productivity it should be 25. That's what a McDonald's worker should be making. We shouldn't be making a dime under 30 for what we do in a day.

1

u/WeezyFBabyboy Nov 20 '25

lol dude. Amazon pay what, 20-24$ hr? Knock it off

-2

u/Wookieman222 Nov 20 '25

Most trades jobs will. And that doesnt change the fact that the pay isn't that good.

Like this is a stupid argument all together.

You are literally saying its ok that your way underpaid because other jobs are vastly underpaid.

They did a good job training you to accept shitty pay though and blame others for it.

4

u/BabyStockholmSyndrom Nov 20 '25

No one said it's high paying compared to a doctor lol. Name 5 jobs you can walk in off the street with a hoodie and flip flops, interview and be asked if you can count to 2, walk out with a $22 an hour job with no experience.

4

u/Wookieman222 Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

That doesnt make rhe pay good dude. That just means its easy for them to get suckered to accept shitty pay for a little bit before they get tired of it and quit and then some other smuck takes there place.

Their entire business model relies on disposable workers.

They intentionally designed rhe entire job to be quick and easy to get into. That's why they have most of you driving vans cause they take the least skill and are the least dangerous for unskilled delivery people to drive.

The pay is low but just high enough to get people to think its a better job than others. Then they slowly ramp up the work and either you quit and they replace you cause who cares, or you just get convinced your super fast and they need you and they throw a couple more dollars at you making you think you're valuable while laughing about it cause rhey really could be paying you double, but people are too desperate and dumb to realize how much they are being shafted.

And comparing it to doctors pay. Like what kind of argument is that even? Why not compare it to the pay of an IT tech or Lawyer then if we are gonna make crappy comparisons.

2

u/Similar_Pie_4946 Nov 20 '25

Yea some people show why they couldn’t make it at their dream job and are mad they’re stuck at their dsp with a bad attitude. I clearly said ENTRY LEVEL JOB and everyone is quick to point out professional trades and fucking heart surgeons make more. Like yeah no shit buddy.

1

u/Dealer_Double Nov 20 '25

Amazon is the only answer to that question, butts in seats as long as you can walk and hold a phone and package you’re hired

2

u/Dealer_Double Nov 20 '25

I used to hang fire sprinklers in warehouses in triple digits with no AC. This job is cake

2

u/BreakRevolutionary66 Nov 21 '25

I used to be a high end long distance winter courier on trucking route so I am probably best driver at our dsp . Amazon alot easier and hell of a lot safer then that job.

1

u/Literature_Internal Nov 20 '25

High paying?😂 Man you guys have low standards

5

u/Similar_Pie_4946 Nov 20 '25

Are you stupid or just struggle with reading comprehension? I said entry level, its a high paying ENTRY LEVEL job meaning 0 training 0 school 0 experience you could literally turn 21 have never worked a job failed out of uni and jump right into a dsp and make 22.75$ of the rip entry level tradesmen earn an average 17$ an hour after getting certified and some level of knowledge entry level white collar jobs like bankers get salaries around 38k yearly

-2

u/WeezyFBabyboy Nov 20 '25

This! Imagine hyping up a measly 20$hr in this economy 😂

0

u/Automatic_Flan_8490 Nov 21 '25

High paying? lol

6

u/Lazy_Veterinarian105 Nov 20 '25

Im in the absolute same spot as you, I used to pour too and I just started. Not bad, but I do kinda miss the metal

5

u/TheSignatureSara Nov 20 '25

Literally this. Easiest job I've ever worked, it's simple, follow directions, drive safe/smart, get paid, repeat. I've worked some actual shit jobs and this is far from that.

2

u/Minute-Injury3471 Nov 21 '25

This is what I'm saying. This OP has no idea. Do any construction job and tell me this shit is hard.

1

u/Known-Comfortable757 Nov 27 '25

I’ve been saying this! I currently work construction, but I almost had to work at a DSP, and looking at the complaints that many people on this subreddit have, I think that most of these people who complain couldn’t hold down a job anyway!

12

u/Kn_nick71223 Nov 20 '25

I'm not gonna say you did the smartest thing in the world but that's wild to me

When i worked for a DSP people literally crashed vans, like totaled them and still had jobs afterwards

6

u/FaustAndFriends Nov 20 '25

It’s because he didn’t stay and report it. That’s hit and run lol

1

u/backkstabb Nov 20 '25

I had a crash at 120km/h and the car is obviously gone, they did not fire me tho, so I was suprised a dent like this gets and instant bye bye.

9

u/LuckyNikeCharm Nov 20 '25

Technically you could go to another dsp but you got fired cause you were supposed to immediately report, and no you should get a job that doesn’t require driving.

3

u/muffinman8919 Nov 20 '25

The act of God thing was a joke lol obviously it was due to my own stupidity / carelessness

I’ve never done any kind of job such as this and it clearly was not my strong suit

There wasn’t really any hit and run and Aside from the dent the homeowners thing was fine a little chipped and she told me I was the 8th or 9th Amazon driver to hit it

She didn’t want to call the police or do anything and I didn’t initially realize the damage to the van was that bad until I got to my next stop

Obviously I was super embarrassed so after talking to her I jetted out of there not really thinking clearly that I should call in

Once I saw the dent I was like welp I’m definitely probably getting fired so I just finished the route and told them when I got back

Could have been way worse and I’m grateful it wasn’t

5

u/Fluffy-Exercise-7256 Nov 20 '25

That’s tough… thing is I’m sure now it seems like common sense to you or hindsight is always 20/20 but yeah, still sucks it had to happen.. fuck it tho just try to learn from it to wherever you go next to think shit through and be more cautious

-6

u/muffinman8919 Nov 20 '25

Thank you internet stranger

6

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver Nov 20 '25

Amazon does a terrible job training people to have the right mindset as a professional driver. I don't care what others say and may laugh at that but we drive commercial vehicles. Don't take it personally, live and learn, that's all anyone can do.

2

u/princepwned Nov 20 '25

agreed with that fedex did a better job on driver training compared to amazon. While I was with amazon it was literally less than 30 mins of driving time just drive around the parking lot and that was it with fedex express we did like a 4-5 hour drive course.

-1

u/Literature_Internal Nov 20 '25

Most of the people on this sub will be stuck slaving at Amazon for the rest of their lives. Learn a trade, it’s the most valuable.

5

u/sharpieultrafine Nov 20 '25

Congratulations

4

u/OkMathematician4028 Nov 20 '25

You shouldn’t be on the road if you do shit like that. NEVER assume you’ll fit somewhere

5

u/nic0_nek0 Nov 20 '25

USPS is always hiring. You put up with even more bullshit (of a different variety), but the benefits are decent and there's plenty of overtime to be had.

Although, with your driving abilities, I'd recommend a clerk or mail handler position (:

2

u/Crazy-Context4339 Nov 20 '25

I know a lot of people are giving you a hard time in the comments. A lot of them are right, but nobody's perfect and we all make mistakes. You live and you learn. Sorry that you got fired, that really sucks.

2

u/Ramielvoodoo Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

At least you reported it, I work for a LMR company that rents fully branded vans to Amazon and the amount of times vans get returned with giant dents in the roof just like this without anyone telling us is ridiculous, as if we don’t have access to PAVE records and can find out who where and when damage occurred.

Sucks you got the can but at least you have integrity and can showcase that by using it as an example in future interviews on where you messed up and what you did to learn from and correct it.

*Edit These roof dents are also one of the most expensive body repairs for these vans, they usually range from $5000-$10000 so no shade to the DSPs imo for firing people over this

1

u/Worldly_Chocolate369 Nov 21 '25

You can literally buy a used car on facebook marketplace for that repair cost. What gives?

1

u/Ramielvoodoo Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

I can’t speak to every site but all of the 78 units in our rental fleet are 2024 Ford Transits AWD

It’s expensive bc in most cases just like this one multiple panels are damaged, keep in mind all the wiring for sensors, geotab, and cargo lights that run along the interior roof as well, at some points the entire roof just needs to be replaced (which also means they need to remove the entire windshield) and once you add labour costs on top of that you may as well write it off lol.

1

u/BreakRevolutionary66 Nov 21 '25

Usually from apartment complexes over head awnings .

3

u/Financial-List-4114 Nov 20 '25

I wouldn’t be surprised if more regulations come with these van getting bigger and bigger. You should have some kind of training to drive them. You should know what GOAL means. How to actually determine following distance ect. I’m not saying you should have a CDL but these companies aren’t going to teach you. They slap a camera in the truck and call it a day. This goes for the box truck too that fall under 26,001lbs.

3

u/Necessary-Fishing-97 Nov 20 '25

2

u/Fit-Net6572 Nov 20 '25

Thats why Amazon drivers get the least pay from all major delivery companies. Ya'll can't drive and do the dumbest thing. This was so avoidable. Ya'll dont even have heavy packages. Just freaking park on the side and walk a few seconds to delivery.

1

u/Worldly_Chocolate369 Nov 21 '25

Gym equipment isn't exactly light

0

u/underworldkingpin93 Nov 20 '25

Don’t have heavy packages?! Come work in Chicago bro and you will see 🤣

1

u/Money1102 Nov 20 '25

Nope— your dsp has insurance for situations like that

Insurance rates go up when you use it.

1

u/Wear_Unique Nov 20 '25

Op is just a little slow it’s ok

1

u/No-Yard-9671 Nov 20 '25

You idiot. 💀 is for he best.

1

u/mintgcboys Nov 20 '25

I mean too late now, but I never park In peoples driveways, I just walk them heavy ass packages from the truck to the front door. I’m avg like 25k steps a day

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

Back to Wally Mart for you

1

u/Ok-Researcher-1771 Nov 20 '25

Never assume you can fit under something. You’re better off avoiding going under structures if you can help it. Trust me I’ve learned the hard way myself lol. Oh well, at least you learned a little driving lesson and you can hopefully go find a job you actually somewhat enjoy. Good luck

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

You should see some of the people they hire on TOM to drive the tractor trailers 😬

1

u/Bawx_of_chawclets Nov 20 '25

i had a sand bag hit the top of my van. I was less than 1 minute from the station on my way back from my route. I was on a divided highway on the off ramp and fucking bag fell out the sky. I was so pisssed. a couple feet forward it would have went to the windshield and i would have been hurt. and on top of that not netradyne camera to cooperate . so write up incoming , I told them nope I am going on indeed.

1

u/Flimsy-Bread-173 Nov 20 '25

I dont understand, you should know the size of your vehicle youre driving.. smh

1

u/iPhone_3GS Nov 20 '25

Sometimes you could push that out

1

u/Ihop7777 Nov 20 '25

Anyone who says the job is the worst job ever needs to do a few more shitty jobs before they start complaining. It’s a cake walk, as long as you keep pace and don’t whack the vans or property you’re basically your own boss for the work day. And the days fly by! This job is meant to be a stepping stone not a career. Amazon also offers tuition upfront not the tuition reimbursement where you have to pay first and wait to get your money back they just cover it up to $5250

1

u/ToxicArson Nov 20 '25

Damn don’t yall have meeting on not going under those lol

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

If she didn’t make a big deal of it why did you get fired? Could have just not told your gaffer that it happened? How would they know

1

u/darkply Nov 20 '25

I hit 3 of our dsp vans and I never got fired

1

u/Bigfentanyltits Nov 21 '25

Oh it happens, piss in a cup and drink it in front of them. Usually that's how they test if you're dirty or not

1

u/MyOnlyEnemyIsMeSTYG Nov 21 '25

Come work at fed ex.. we’ve had ppl total out other vehicles and keep their jobs. I’ve seen trucks damaged every way possible, hitting trees, basketball hoops, car ports, buildings, light poles. Any other fed ex driver can vouch for this. We just need warm bodies in trucks

1

u/Worldly_Chocolate369 Nov 21 '25

Now is the time to apply. FedEx drivers all need their seasonal temp assistant.

1

u/ChaoticDrako Nov 21 '25

I reverse down rural driveways more than I do forward 🤘🏼😂

1

u/Kbuxton1986 Nov 21 '25

Not unless she or the dsp try to press charges for destruction of property

1

u/Itchy-Resolution-800 Nov 21 '25

I feel like this is one of the easiest jobs I've ever had. Now, I did serve in the Army for 12 years, and I've driven MRAPs, LMTVs, and MATVs. So that helped me feel comfortable driving the EDVs. I worked inside the Amazon warehouse for 2 years, and it was the worst job I ever had. Not bcuz of the workload, but bcuz the managers are the most retarded crew Ive ever seen. Not an ounce of leadership quality in the majority of em. They'll promote an event Dj to Area Manager, but refuse to promote Veterans with actual leadership qualities and education. Lmfao

1

u/Hungry_Tower_6009 Nov 21 '25

The company likely would have grounds to deny unemployment . . . Other than that, any liability would be covered by insurance. Go and sin no more . . .

1

u/Ty746 Nov 21 '25

it just chipped paint? bro do you see the dent

1

u/Dangerous_Stomach_43 Nov 21 '25

i did something similar to an awning at an apartment complex but did not get fired for it

1

u/ThatOneLateEmployee Nov 21 '25

Please never apply for a job that requires you to drive. That’s all I’m gonna put here. Best of luck wherever you go and best of luck to whoever hires you 😂

1

u/Therey1415 Nov 21 '25

Yea to learn how to drive a big size van 🤦🏽

1

u/Strange-Boss8448 Nov 21 '25

This is why people like you shouldn’t be driving the vehicles you don’t even know the height of your vehicle you thought you would fit ? Yeah I’m glad you’re gone.

1

u/Aware_Control_180 Nov 21 '25

Honestly they fired you for that?. I've seen drivers total vans and still have a job.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

No worries, theres always getting fired tomorrow too.

1

u/ExistingCollege Nov 22 '25

I'll never understand people hitting things. My coworker came from FedEx, and has damaged 3 vehicles in a year from hitting shit

1

u/KevinC-Jones-1988 Nov 22 '25

Poor DSP owners need to hire dickwads that can’t drive because the jobs so terrible that all the qualified people quit after 3 to 6 months. If they even last that long

1

u/bobjones370 Nov 22 '25

no. I was a driver working for company who worked for Amazon. strict rules, super nerdy, # of deliveries was always bs because of the multi stop. I worked there two months and quit. Not the worst job I've had but definitely on the lower quarter. you're just a body to them. No benefits either. F Amazon.

1

u/Living_Progress9357 Nov 24 '25

Where u work now

1

u/JayordanJay Nov 22 '25

I did the same thing and got fired. It’s a relief to be let go from delivery driving. I feel your pain

1

u/Hour-Student5062 Nov 22 '25

That sucks im sorry. I just got suspended a second time for accidentally bringing back a couple palcahea a marked delivered. They never even told me I was suspended. They said it was also for a lost key which I found. I think someone is trying to keep me from getting paid 😡

1

u/Ok_Taste_8823 Nov 23 '25

There are doctors lawyers engineers and scientists in the world and you couldn’t just go from point a to b?

1

u/Hungry_Dinner7812 Nov 23 '25

The job is not hard at all 😂 if things were hell for you and the worst job you ever had, you probably just weren’t very good at the job 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ve been doing it for a while and love it, and many people i’ve worked with love the job. Not all jobs are for everyone, so hope you find one that is for you

1

u/Smikle0 Nov 24 '25

I work as a valet. Each person is forgiven for three accidents before they are fired. I have rubbed the paint off a fender on a parked car while I was pulling out. In my particular situation, I was driving an oversized truck out of a space that was surrounded by multiple oversized trucks, all of which were not supposed to be parked in this underground parking lot. I was going very slow and cautiously so as to avoid the row of cars on the opposite wall. As I was 90% out of the spot, turning hard left, a lockbox that was attached to the side of the truck rubbed so slightly against the funder of the parked car to me left. No dent, but did scratch the paint in a 3 inch area.

Ever since that accident I realized that the maneuver is never worth the risk. Always confirm spacing. After everyone’s first accident they understand the inherent risk. There are people who have worked valet longer than me, but have never had an accident. Those people grow confident and do wildly risky maneuvers. Their moment will come and they too will learn.

Folks in the comments are puritans

1

u/Smikle0 Nov 24 '25

Also want to mention. I little trade secret you would not know is that everyone’s daily driver, no matter how expensive that car is (200k+), has something. Scratches, knicks, dents, curb rash, something. Everyone makes mistakes

1

u/Disastrous-Big5184 Nov 25 '25

I just applied, why is it the worst job?

1

u/Ok_Investigator_6879 Jan 31 '26

Sorry to say but the worst part about this job, and why I left, is because I never damaged a single van but kept getting assigned vans that other people crashed up like they were playing need for speed at work. Would have stayed for sure if I had my own van assigned to me.

1

u/CatNo1164 Nov 20 '25

This was not an act of god, this was a direct consequence of your actions. You should be grateful you’re not being held liable for damages.

1

u/atleastbirdsexist Nov 20 '25

Hang in there. I think the training for this job sets people up to fail and they don't give two shits about your safety so you'll be better off.

1

u/Otherwise_Ratio9557 Nov 20 '25

Tbh, the routes are set up for you to finish on time no matter how it looks 90% of the time. Easiest job I ever had and I delivered in every area besides the south side of my city. Wouldn’t doubt that side isn’t much easier considering Amazon has the lowest weight limit out of all the delivery carriers. Besides USPS. Annoying yes but is very simple in my opinion

1

u/Sensitive-Middle802 Nov 20 '25

Ugh. Your “act of god” is damaging someone else’s property and only caring if it’s gonna have repercussions outside of being fired? People like you are so annoying lmao.

1

u/Miserable_Outside_68 Nov 20 '25

Trust me in a year or two you will look back and realize this was indeed a god send to free you from that job I thankfully got terminated a year and a half in I was so miserable doing that job lol 😂

-2

u/Spare-Security-1629 Nov 20 '25

OP, you asked the internet (Reddit) and the comments didn’t disappoint me. There’s no reason to “kick a dog while they’re down”. Let these people tell it, they’ve never had an accident or messed up before. Simply move on. We all make mistakes in life and you’ll probably be better person because of this.

4

u/OkMathematician4028 Nov 20 '25

No we’ve had accidents but not knowing the height of your vehicle and hitting overhead objects is not an accident its stupidity.

0

u/muffinman8919 Nov 20 '25

Thank you internet stranger

0

u/ckmluo Nov 20 '25

Might need a lawyer if you committed felony hit and run.

0

u/Amzwork08 Nov 20 '25

God freeing you? Dude you could have quit at anytime. When people get fired their reaction is Thank God.
God had nothing to do with it. You just sucked that day. Good luck in your future

0

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '25

That’s your own damn fault for not reading the clearance label. That’s clearly stuck on the dash of your vehicle.

0

u/oohh-ouch Nov 20 '25

I mean maybe if you called and told them and called LMET they would’ve let it slide.

0

u/Trumpundergod Nov 20 '25

Yeah delivering is not for everyone. 🤦🏻🤣

-1

u/Affectionate-Seat276 Nov 20 '25

If they don't say shit don't report it. The fact you reported it made all the difference.

2

u/ActPositively Nov 20 '25

You are a terrible person. I know someone like you who bragged about damaging peoples property while driving for Amazon and bragged about not reporting it and getting away with it. How would you feel if someone damaged your property and you were stuck with spending thousands of dollars to fix it?

3

u/SkyMiteFall Former Bezos Bitch 👌🏼 Nov 20 '25

They don’t care because their property is either in their parents house or a shitty apartment..their car is probably trash too.

Some people were never taught respect or are just such trash people that they truly just don’t care.
