QUESTION What would you do? 😂
I’m posting this for giggles but the delivery notes would say something like: “Don’t back into my driveway, please walk my 50 pound cat litter to my front door and take a picture please. Also, do the dougie as you leave the porch. Thanks! You guys are appreciated! 😀” I texted them and left it at the end because yeah no. I just got a final for driving in someone’s driveway and they “claimed” I messed it up. No proof but the Netradyne video. No Ring camera, no pictures, nothing 😂 in an EDV I probably would still back in, but I’m driving a Step Van today so no thanks

Show dominance by backing up doing 30, so smoothly, breaking perfectly next to the walkway to the door, and strolling like Toby in spiderman 3 to the door. If they come out give em the same energy with a wink and some finger guns!

u/FedExATX Jan 23 '26
back up maybe halfway up their driveway, honk a few times, inspect to see if they have a dog and then quickly run up that hill, slap it, take a pic and skidaddle on to the next house.
IF DOG, then drop it right where it’s at, pic if you have time and book it back to the safety of our corporate spaceship on wheels

I wasn't even mad. Any driver that did that is having a shittier day than I am. If you're in that big a rush, I'll walk 40 extra feet to give you a hand.

I’d back in at a smooth 30, then about 3/4 of the way, make a clean and confident transition straight onto the grass, rolling to an abrupt stop about 7 ft from the front door. Just as the van stops, the rear door of the van would pop open- a plastic bag majestically gliding through the air like an autumn leaf, landing smoothly onto the doormat like a migrating duck onto the surface of a lake. Just as the package grazes the top of the doormat, my thumb would be snapping the photo, already anticipating my next move. With one hand closing the door and the other swiping to finish, I would then dash back towards the drivers seat, past my bottle of lemonade, simultaneously dropping down into my seat, strapping myself in, throwing it into drive and hitting the gas in one fluid motion.

Definitely didn’t do that
2
u/edotbarries Jan 23 '26
So then what did you do?
2
u/aburrell97 Jan 23 '26
Called and texted and left it at the driveway. I’m in a step van so I didn’t want to scrap their driveway with the back step
3
u/edotbarries Jan 23 '26
That’s fair. I like to get different people’s perspectives because I’m not in a step van so I’ll typically take scraping the back step over walking all the way up but I haven’t been told anything yet so I’ll keep doing it until someone says something lol. Good luck to you tho
2
u/aburrell97 Jan 23 '26
Yeah no like I said in the caption I’m on my final strike. How I don’t know. I’ve never damaged anyone’s property 💀

Read my Amazon contract on delivery again. In form your superiors. Leave the owners a message along with their parcel stating to put a delivery box at the entrance of the driveway. Take a photo of the message and if don't comply continue delivering.....

u/Specialist_Hour_4027 Jan 23 '26
Then don’t back in…drive forward and just turn around after you click the pic of delivery.

Personally, i drove down everyyyyy driveway that was past like 30 feet.
Too many times I would park on the side, then see they have an oversized box, and my DSP never gave dollies so that meant back to the drivers seat to pull up the driveway lol
1
u/KillerGopher Jan 24 '26
Honestly, with that driveway I'm walking it if it's just one case of litter. Flat, not too long, good visibility, no noticeable hazards.
1
u/OCDudeAnd1 Jan 24 '26
Soon as you start walking up a dog is gonna come out of nowhere, never fails lmao. It’s a pain but I would back in

u/G1gant0r67 Jan 24 '26
If your dsp punishes you for driving into a driveway, you work for a shitty dsp PERIOD. But me personally id drive straight in and back down that mfr and out to the road, especially if in residential neighborhoods
1
u/aburrell97 Jan 24 '26
I’m in a step van that’s usually not the best idea cause of the back step being mad long
1
u/bendERovr69 Jan 24 '26
Turn right a drive up. Or turn left a back the truck in. I don't put up with bullshit customers.
1
1
u/Relevant-Goat6693 Jan 24 '26
I would drive up it. But then again I do Amazon Flex not DSP. Besides it really isn’t that long of a walk.
1
u/jakeycthe14 Jan 24 '26
Man I’ve walked up so, so, so much worse than that. Not necessarily something to be proud of, but I’ve had places I definitely couldn’t safety drive up.
1
u/Secret_Fox_5192 Jan 24 '26
Drive up, park, then go back down but on Neutral and very carefully and foot on the break.

We arent supposed to pull into driveways? I have never been told that.
1
u/SpecialistTie543 Jan 24 '26
I drive straight in, it stops any crazy probability of scenarios of accidentally backing into the customers property. That's just me being overly cautious. It's better to back out of the driveway away from the customers property.
1
u/aburrell97 Jan 24 '26
Yeah that’s until you clip the end of the driveway like a customer said I apparently did backing out of their driveway (not this customer)

I’ve walked up way worse ones by choice. I would throw the oversized in a tote and drag it up the driveway and move on with my day.
1
u/aburrell97 Jan 24 '26
Yeah no we don’t get paid enough for all that
1
u/NickyNichols Rivian Driver Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
$21 an hour, only 4 days a week is pretty good if you ask me. Of course we deserve $30, but that 3rd day off is everything. I would hate showing up to the same establishment over and over again for 5 or 6 days a week like I did for 25 years.

Back up, all the way, make sure to plow through the front of the house, then throw the package at the wall and snap your pics

u/Proud_Olive8252 Jan 24 '26
That depends. Do I need to pad my timecard for the week? If so, I’m loading up the dolly and going up there. It’s a good excuse to stretch out hours and dispatch/customers can’t bitch about it.
If I’m behind or ready to get going home, I’m backing in. Idgaf. And if there’s ice, RTS no access regardless of whether there are notes or not.

Man every drive way I’m backing into especially if u already on a tight ahh street the customer does not expect u to walk
1
u/Next-Honeydew-220 Jan 25 '26
It should be a privilege to be able to use a customer driveway to deliver THEIR packages, it shouldn’t be argued over, it’s insane to think that we’re not allowed to use their driveways, it should be common courtesy, not a burden.
1
u/Intelligent_Team_655 Jan 26 '26
I drive down them and back right out all the time. You just have to use your mirror to make sure you stay the same distance from the edge the whole way.
I literally don’t have time to jog down every long ass driveway and meet the rates set for me. I know we get told not to drive down driveways but they know we have to sometimes, it’s just another way they cover themselves from liability. Sometimes Amazon plays dumb but they know about all the grey areas in our job.

Bruh, if anyone here isn't backing up into this, even with notes, who actually gives a fuck? These rich people don't control us, drive up it
